I’ve always done the cashless method because for me if I have cash I’m going to spend it more often than I will swipe a card... I chart my categories in a bullet journal that always stays with me. It works best for me.
I use my main current account (a checking account in the US I think) linked to my debit card as my daily working account and keep everything else in my savings account, which is also where my wages go to. I just transfer what I need to my current/checking account when appropriate, and if I need to save for any reason I just open another account specifically for that purpose. Actually find it easier to track my spending online rather than writing out a budget.
I think if you are having trouble with overspending, cash envelopes can be a great way to train your brain & optimize your budget... but once you've built up your "spending discipline muscles", you shouldn't be afraid to transition to cashless. Good luck!
First time here I know that this from 4 years ago but I like that you have a section for Tithe and offering. Where did you get the budget sheet and bill tracker? And do you have an update on this cashless method?
I've only ever done a cash free budget. It just makes most sense for me. I live so far away from everything, it's not worth it to me to drive so far out of my way to go to the bank multiple times per week. I make a run to the bank every Friday the week I get paid to withdraw only the cash I use to stuff my wallet with, which is what I allow myself to spend for the next two weeks. I couldn't imagine doing it any other way than this! :)
I’ve had my sinking funds as “cashless” from the beginning because I don’t trust myself around cash- lol. I have all sinking funds in savings and my “cash envelope” categories in my checking account. I like you lil trackers. Thanks for the video. Loved it!!(had to come back and edit my comment- I just purchased your tracker !! Sooooo easy and super fast. Thank youuuu :-). )
I recently went cashless as well for my sinking funds and cash envelopes due to covid and its not that bad, i use a micro happy planner to track all my spending and check my bank account daily just to make sure my numbers r right. 😊
My system is cashless but is a little different than most people's systems. I put everything possible on debit or credit cards. I get cashback this way. I was able to get one month ahead on bills so this month's income will be paying May's bills. I still have a budget for various categories that I keep track of with a spreadsheet and a budget planner but you could also track it by an envelope. It is a zero-based budget so at the end of the month any extra goes to savings or debt (I will pay off the student loans this month and will only have mortgage debt then). If you use sinking funds you could fund them then also at that time. I don't have them I just lump my savings altogether.
I did switch to cash-less except for Christmas. I only have to go to the bank once a month that way. We are retired so we don't have weekly budgets to worry about. I do miss the cash envelopes but I will return to them things are normal again.
Lol.. the father's day Mother's day amounts is priceless....🤣 thanks for sharing this will help for my journey for better financial health. I seen so many videos that scare the heck out of me. Dont leave in a sfae place to be able to do cash envelopes but this seems like a great idea.
Yes I always did the cashless méthode .I don t have lots income so it’s easy for me in one way . I can t have money on the side or for gifts . Every thing is calculated
I made one tracker. Kinda like a check register. Wonder if I should make separate ones for each "envelop" too. I dont want to over do it. I like having the cash at home saving for a house and love seeing the $$$.
I have been watching videos, I really want to start budgeting...Cashless I think as I have Direct Deposit and usually get some cash from grocery store, but not right now... I need to start from the beginning and have no clue how to start this cashless budget ...
I transfer money online to pay bills and such, and use cash for variable expenses. Cause even though cashless method is so convenient, I like to use cash to literally remind me of the amount that I set for my budget. So that I'm more aware and appreciative towards my own hard earned money.
I do not have a problem with the sinking find my problem is using cash to pay every where it do not work for me I rather pay with my cars and write it down
You all know that the world health organization has said that it’s highly unlikely you’ll catch covid from cash, right? Everyone panicking about it is nuts. I’ve always done cash and will continue to do so.
Saying cash is dirty , of course it is but so is everything else, It’s on everything , soon everyone will be doing squats in the bathroom, (which I sometimes do) lol. won’t want to touch doors, eat at restaurants, fast foods, Its everywhere people. Lol
Curious to how long it actually takes you to do this weekly. Obviously it’s longer on the video since you’re explaining. Good job though. Beats credit card debt. Been there as well. Only use cc if you pay off every month.
Lizzie my hubby and I are going cashless as well, temporarily. Are you still using the Every Dollar App? How are you using it? Is it the same or did you need to tweak that? We really liked using cash it helped us to stay on track. I'm not sure we will be able to do as good cashless.
Just found your channel :) Are you still using cashless envelopes or have you switched back to cash? I've trying to figure out which one I would like to start with (cash or cashless)
I am not going cashless. It really helps for me to see it. But instead of spending cash and having to go into the store for groceries I am making online orders and depositing whatever I spend back into my account. That way it is easier for me to track.
That’s what we had been doing for so long. I am being exposed to cash all day long and customers. I just feel safer to handle less cash at the moment. That’s why we switched.
Naturally Lizzie I don’t blame you! If I was handling cash i probably would as well but I’m working from home right now so it’s simple for me to run by the bank as I need. Prayers for you and your family to stay safe and healthy during this time!
I don’t use cash envelopes. I just keep track on paper. The only cash I have is me and my husbands allowance which is kept in a cup in the kitchen which is used to replenish our wallet from time to time. I think the way you’re starting to do this makes more sense and less work for you. I think you’ll like it much better.
It’s been a week and so far we’ve had success!! It’s nice because my husband doesn’t have to ask me for the cash anymore 😂 we just both have to be on the same page.
I prefer the cash method.. I just stared and I have saved money versus other way, don’t get me wrong I have my important things get auto withdrawals from bank but the other stuff is easier for me... plus I feel that they (government)will be able to control even more of your hard earned income because they will prob ask for records of bank statements, see what you spend your money show proof of why you spent it etc.. shoo you never know these days.. lol
I rather go in the store to pick up my groceries why I say this because you don't know if they are pick the best meat or fruit or vegetables. I rather pay in cash. please my Walmart closed down I am not wasting gas for 1 hours ride that Defeats the purpose of saving.
No they stay in my main account. I am just going to be tracking it with the expense tracker slips. Pretty much the same as I did with my cash envelopes.
Cashless budgeting!! What are your thoughts on it?!
I've watched several budgeting videos but yours is the only one that I understand.
I appreciate that! Thank you!
I’ve always done the cashless method because for me if I have cash I’m going to spend it more often than I will swipe a card... I chart my categories in a bullet journal that always stays with me. It works best for me.
Oh that’s good!! I try cashless every now and then.

Aw thank you so much!! I’ve been considering to put my sinking funds in a savings account.
I recently went cashless as well for my sinking funds and cash envelopes due to covid and its not that bad, i use a micro happy planner to track all my spending and check my bank account daily just to make sure my numbers r right. 😊
Karina Rodriguez it hasn’t been too bad for me so far!! I’m pleasantly surprised!
yes I'm doing it just like you. I'm hoping to go back to cash after the pandemic is over

Sandy Seibel Hager our budget system are very similar
Maritza Torres Yay! I thought I was just an odd one.
I just got started doing the cash method and I’m going to continue that. I just spray the money with Lysol.
That’s great!
A less toxic way to disinfect your money would be to iron it with a hot iron. 👍
I’m still using cash envelopes but then again not a lot of spending going on right now due to the current circumstances.
I did switch to cash-less except for Christmas. I only have to go to the bank once a month that way. We are retired so we don't have weekly budgets to worry about. I do miss the cash envelopes but I will return to them things are normal again.
I started doing the cashless method and it is more convenient for me. I will stick with it. Happy easter! 🐣

I track my spending on my notebook
I made one tracker. Kinda like a check register. Wonder if I should make separate ones for each "envelop" too. I dont want to over do it. I like having the cash at home saving for a house and love seeing the $$$.
I love seeing cash too. But this might just be temporary for me.
I do cashless. But stuff groceries in order to not over spend
I have been watching videos, I really want to start budgeting...Cashless I think as I have Direct Deposit and usually get some cash from grocery store, but not right now... I need to start from the beginning and have no clue how to start this cashless budget ...
I barely got into the cash envelopes like 2 months ago and now going back to card !!!!! Omggggg
It’ll work!! Just make sure to track!
I am still continuing with the cash method
I transfer money online to pay bills and such, and use cash for variable expenses. Cause even though cashless method is so convenient, I like to use cash to literally remind me of the amount that I set for my budget. So that I'm more aware and appreciative towards my own hard earned money.
This is good! I’ve switched back to using cash for those variable expenses too.
@@NaturallyLizzie Yes, cause both methods have their own advantages that we can learn to utilize to our benefit! 👍🏻
Great budget tracker and spending tracker did you make it? Great video
Yes I did. And thank you!
Well.. not panicking, just being cautious. Cash has always been nasty anyways. So figured I’d use this time to switch.
However, cash is very dirty anyway....e coli etc. Why not be careful. They do not know ENOUGH about Covid to know if you can catch it from money.
Yes!
Saying cash is dirty , of course it is but so is everything else, It’s on everything , soon everyone will be doing squats in the bathroom, (which I sometimes do) lol. won’t want to touch doors, eat at restaurants, fast foods, Its everywhere people. Lol
I know people that iron their cash 💰. I also think you could put it in a dryer bag and put it in the dryer on the hot 🥵 setting.👍.

How long it takes to budget weekly?
Nice!
Thank you!!! It hasn’t been bad, we will see how it goes!

Yes I’m using every dollar. I use it to track all my spending. I am using that the same.
Just found your channel :) Are you still using cashless envelopes or have you switched back to cash? I've trying to figure out which one I would like to start with (cash or cashless)
I use cash now.
@@NaturallyLizzie May I ask what made you switch back to cash? I'm really trying to decide how I want to start my budget.
When I use my card I spend more money. I realized with cash I was able to better manage my spending habits.
Are you 2 doing anything special for Easter?
No we aren’t 😔 we are just going to have our online church service and be home.

Just a little confused... so the cashless amounts, are they all going into one account, separate from other accounts?
No they stay in my main account. I am just going to be tracking it with the expense tracker slips. Pretty much the same as I did with my cash envelopes.
😭 cashless envelope didnt work for me, i overbudget hahahahaha
Oh no. But it’s a new month so things can change! 😉
