    Great video. When I started almost 3 years ago, I followed the Budget mom. You explained everything perfect. It's hard work on your spending habits and learned behaviors. I started in Jan 2020 . I bought my house as a singles mom in 2021. I will never change how I budget now. This community is amazing. THANK YOU for this video.

      Hi there!! I can really relate to your comment! I also changed my life as a single mom and fixed my credit, bought a new car, had my daughter in private school and purchased my first house by budgeting, living below my means and making a lot of sacrifices! It was all so worth it! The sense of confidence that comes with doing it all on your own is worth WAY more than anything money could buy!
      I’m so happy you found our channel and to know that you are doing well! 💛💛💛

    I have an Excel spreadsheet that I’ve been marking off bills as they are paid. Nothing worse then forgetting to pay a bill…yes, I’ve been there and it’s frustrating! Especially if it’s something that gets reported to the credit bureaus!
    I did not need to go back through my bank statements because I KNEW exactly where my extra spending was…eating out!
    I started meal planning through the week and it has saved us a TON of money! Now I know what I need to buy at the grocery store so that has also lowered how much I spend. I still budget for us to eat out (mainly in the weekends).
    My husband retired last month so I really had no choice but to get a handle on our spending. It’s so easy to do, we are saving money and there are no more sleepless nights worrying about money.

      Getting into a different mindset when things change can be challenging but it sounds like you are a very smart lady!
      You have thought of all the things and are taking control- that’s awesome! Once it’s done , it’s done, right? You just follow the plan you’ve laid out for yourself.
      Wishing you continued success for 2024!
      Happy Retirement! 🥂

      I have a chart of bills that are due each month from one paycheck to the next and I pay the specific bills as soon as I got paid (and not when actually due). This way I know I won't forget to pay the bills and also that I'll have money to pay the bills. I also prepare a meal plan for every 2 weeks. Saves money and time

    Hi Jenn, I loved your video! I did Ramsey about 2 years ago but did it "-ish" as Dave would say. I think I didn't have all the information I needed and thought I could fill in the blanks myself! I just went back to ALL my bank statements, CC statements, and Venmo transactions (which I always considered 'free' money. I didn't take into account that when I paid something with that it was spending! Uugh!! I have a few CC and other 'normal' bills. I have been ale to pay my bills, but have been wondering why I don't have enough for an emergency fund or savings. WOW! What insight! If anyone else is reading this, I am going to be vulnerable to show you, you are not alone! Over the last 3 months I have spent (excluding my bills): $1100 on Amazon, $700 dining out, $1700 on hobbies (when I have plenty of things to work on already), $600 on misc household, and $1000 on self care, Plus 4-5 tv subscriptions that I barely watch. Thank you for suggesting that I do this tedious task to check where my money is going. I know realize that I do have the money to do this. Thanks again!

    Thank you once again for a fantastic video! I’m watching it again and getting my 💩together! I started cash budgeting in September, just a few days before my wedding…not the ideal time, but I was ready to change my finances. It definitely has been a bumpy start with last minute wedding expenses and now the holidays, but I will say I can already tell I’m better off having started. Changing my mindset is what I’m working on now. One month ago I had an awesome buffer in my checking account and it’s all gone now because I fell back into old habits…a humbling experience! So now I’m starting again and determined that things will look dramatically different at this time next year.

      You could average your last several paychecks or even a years worth, whatever is realistic for the kind of money you make now. Add the dollar amounts all up, then divide by the number of paychecks you included. Then you could budget around that but leave a good chunk of wiggle room in your budget in case you have a lower paycheck come in. Just an idea!

    Lived with a few women (I am a woman) it did NOT work out. At 32, an 18 year old male I worked with at home Depot moved into my apartment. We were roomies for 11 years. He met his now wife, they married he moved out. we never had issues. I was his cash envelope. He gave me weekly the money for rent and his bills. The rest was his. Funny note... he decided about 5 years into our arrangement, to move out and move in with 2 of his buddies. 4 months later he was at my door again... they had no electricity, water and all were behind on their rent and starving, the partying was fun though.

    I have restarted my journey, probably about five times, since my personal finances have changed and situations since 2020. Most of the changes kept happening in 2021 and 2022, this past year. I am probably going to restart it again out of frustrations for the main envelopes that are used and slowly work my way back to where I was before my first time. Your 'first timer' videos still make me feel better and you have such a calming voice, plus the meme videos that add are additional. ❤

    I started this journey in this format/discipline September 1. All the things you mentioned in this video I have been through at some point in my (long) adult life and you gave such calming advice. And mainly. . . don't do the things that you know are going to end up causing you anxiety. Ya have to take a deep breath and just....stop.....and observe. . .and then start walking down the path. You provided such calming and good advice to us about how to navigate through the fog. . .and just take that first step. . . which becomes the 2nd step. . .I am ending wow month 4? Can that be? and. . .feel more. . .just. . .prepared. . .which lessons the anxiety a bit to face the always unexpected stupid little things? Great video and can't wait until Hello Honey (I look so forward to playing it).. .and to see what new might be coming in January?????

    I’m definitely a new bee here, I’ve been planning and even budgeting for almost a year now, but I’ve never cash stuffed because I’m dealing with a lot due to an abusive marriage, and I keep having to break my budget to stay ok top of bills.
    I started only stuffing my savings, kids savings, and emergency fund. So far I’ve only been able to not touch my kids savings. I know it’s not a lot, but I have $400 saved for them, I’ve sadly had to dip into everything else. 🥴
    But I’ve cut my spending dramatically, I have on average 5 no spend days a week outside of groceries and gas now (I’m so proud of myself for that), but I’ve been tracking all spending I do, and starting the new year I’m going to start stuffing my sinking funds and recording them. Hopefully the community can help me stay accountable, and give me ideas and tips when I’m struggling to keep from touching my sinking funds except when necessary.

    Most of my transactions are for Walmart because it’s the only store in my town. I think if I would print out my statements I would have a hard time knowing what I purchased. I plan on starting to save receipts and keep track that way starting in the new year.

    • @girlyghoul
      @girlyghoul Год назад +1

      I don't know about Walmart because I don't shop there very often. But a lot of grocery stores divide things up on the receipt for you (like food vs. household items). If Walmart doesn't divide them up, you could use different colored highlighters to help track how much you're spending in each category.

    Hello Jen how are you today? I hope you and your sister are well and your family. I just started my 1st word And For the 1 it took me 3 tries and for the second 1 it took me 5 tries. My question is How do you count up the25 cent. 1And how do you come up with the $1 1. Do you count up if you miss the word the amount? Do you count up if you spell it correctly. Or do you count it up if you didn't get it at all? Thank you for your time have a good day

    • @2SisterBees
      @2SisterBees  Год назад

      Hi there!
      So the one that was 3 tries is : 25 cents x 3 = 75 cents
      And the one that took 5 tries is 25 cents x 5 = $1.25
      So it’s a quarter each try that you get the word wrong.
      If you use up all 6 tries - the max amount would be $1.50.
      I hope that helps!

The one thing I am grateful for however it is that I have no credit card debt never had a credit card and public transportation exists here so I don't really need a car. Most of my big spending is taken in the from of electronic payments. I am still a bit confused in how I would save the money physically if I have to pay it electronically. A bank account lets you set up multiple savings accounts goals so I am thinking about calculating how much I should every week for each of my bills and putting it into my different saving goals account, but in real cash I’ll have the emergency fund and savings set up.

      You could do your budget. Write it all out and give every dollar it’s job.
      THEN- have your categories and your envelopes ready to go.
      Just keep your cash in the bank and use prop money instead. That way you can still limit your spending, keep track, meet goals but your just using prop money instead.
      I think prop is a great option for those that can’t get to the bank every pay period.
      It’s still a visual view of your money and where it’s going.

For instance: Allowance or clothing: I have a family of 5 and I know I need to set aside money for future clothing--especially back to school and sometimes I like to throw them a few bucks so they can do whatever the hell they want with it(aka allowance).... should I make subcategories for those instances?

    Hello I have a question how do you work paying off credit card debt into your budget? Is it considered a bill? Or a sinking fund and do you consider the minimum payments for each card as a bill to be put with things like rent, power ect?

    • @2SisterBees
      @2SisterBees  Год назад +1

      I am not a financial advisor but I have definitely paid off a lot of credit cards- so, I would suggest that you keep your minimum payment with your other bills so you are just always sending that in.
      In the meantime, to pay off extra principal and get it paid down- I had a separate envelope and I would save whatever I could for 4 weeks and send that in one lump sum towards the balance.
      Some of our subscribers were suggesting to send it in biweekly to minimize that compounding interest faster - which is great advice.
      So you could send your extra payments in every week, every 2 weeks or once a month…. Whatever you want to do.
      There really is no wrong way to pay off a credit card.
      Work extra hours, sell your unused stuff, start a side job… and start sending that money in! Every little bit counts and you will be so shocked to see how fast it dwindles down and with all of your efforts, it WILL!!
      ✨💛✨💛

      I understand what you are saying here in your comment however I think the correlation of spending equals fun is the real issue, not your education level.
      If you could think to things that bring you joy that do not require money, that is where you may find that feeling of contentment to look forward to. Visiting with a friend, a good book and a comfy blanket, a walk in the park,-shifting focus and changing behaviors is key. Letting go of the idea that something “new” brings us happiness.
