Hi, OK you sold me a Stihl, don't know why i need one, cause i live on a boat , but after listening too you for a short time, i want one..
I just want you to know that your videos have trained a whole crew of tree guys down here in mobile AL. I showed you to my crew and they were hooked to your videos and have done nothing but become better at their craft because of it. Thank you Jake! and i will continue to watch your journey! Much love from the south!
Guilty of treeson, educated climber, and August hunicke are the best content creators for tree work in my opinion. Buckin' Billy ray is just a total badass
Hey man, thats what i do with my guys!!!
Hi double stacker!
As Husqvarna technician I can say that:
592-its probably faulty oil hose-easy fix
540-more complicated, have to be connected to CST diagnostic tool to know whats going on, but from my experience its usual suspect, triger, where is magnet glued on, broken or just fell off the trigger
When visiting Czech republic, take a visit and consider it repaired 😀
PS: please another video with Randy in sandals
I like that you keep things pg. My 3 year old likes watching with me
Glad to see that working with Randy is having a positive effect on your working wardrobe. It’s a new era for loggers…
LOL ~ I'm waiting for the real shocker where everyone comments "dude, that's going too far"
😅😅😅
Maybe when you google logging clothes these Hawaiian shirts will show up 😅😅😅
Has he been auditioning for fear and loathing in los Vegas?
😂😂😂
Wish you lived closer, I'd be happy to fix the 592 for you. Gotta be either the oil pump, orings, or hose, they're pretty simple designs. Gordy could probably figure it out.
I think you’re right about Gordy figuring it out, wouldn’t hurt to have him drive into it and do a video on it.
Thanks! I got it fixed since this video, it was a broken oil hose 👍🏼
I've got the same problem with my husky. I just use it as a door stop since I've got the 500i. I do want to get it fixed.
@@kasken719 haha, same with me, doorstop is right, I hardly use my 572 now that I'v got a 500i
@@RI-td3gvnow y’all got me wanting to go to my dark side and pickup a 500i and get it ported and such like my 572. I like my 572 but it seems to have a oiling issue as well, runs well after a good port job and upped the compression a ton. Pulls a 32inch bar through red oak like a beast
Fun to watch you at work Jake, I am just a home owner/camper who burns wood for heat in the winter but have always been fascinated with chain saws and working with them. My first saw was a Stihl 031 and was a great little saw. I now have two saws.....a Stihl MS 250 and a Stihl MS 180. They are all the saw I need and they both work wonderfully. Thanks for your vids and stay safe !!!
Congrats Jacob!!!
That's a nice saw for sure!
I hope you'll get the 592 fixed though... Would love to see more of that beast!
Nice saw Jake....goes well with the shirt.
The sound of the new saw sounds quite powerful. Much more than any of your other saws i have heard on this channel.
Good job Jake. Hats off to Gordy, you build a good saw.
Stay safe working with those large trees
My ported 500i runs a 32" as well. Its the saw I find myself grabbing most often. Great saw!
Love the new fashion statement!
Love to see a real use of the Echo 7310.
Our 592 did that same thing also, was oil hose inside.. had a hole in it, or it ripped where it hooks onto a plastic nipple or something.
It oiled the clutch pretty well.
Dude at the saw shop swore up and down we had the wrong bar on it.
I'm like the bar says husqvarna... and you sold me the saw with this bar.
He's out of business now 😂😂😂
its about time man!
I bought a brand new Husq. Used it once. The next day there was a pool of oil underneath it. Took it back to the dealer. He kept it for two months and said he couldn't find a problem. Returned it and it's been fine ever since. According to YT, there is a known problem where the oil tube falls off under the saw. A bit of trouble to fix but not that bad.
You make it look so easy Jake, the shirt is over the top.
DAMN DUDE YOU'RE SNEAKING UP ON A FRIGGIN M I L L I O N SUBSCRIBERS IN A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS !!!!!!! DAMN AGAIN !!!!! So glad and proud of what you have accomplished Buddy!
Ok that's just sexy the way a ported 500i just rips through big wood. I'm so glad for you brother
See if your clutch cover bolt studs are backed off at all! I had oil leaking pretty bad on a top handle and the stud had backed off just a little and the bar could not be tightened flush with the rubber seal for the bar oil.
Well, nobody can tell you how to climb. That’s a fact Jack, but Yoda would tell you….comparison to Stihl vs Husqvarna, much to learn you still have. Stihl 500IR real deal! Got to love the West Coast bark box, brought you in part by Gordy .We run that puppy all the time we got people walking over from eight blocks over, I got a tree for you to take care of lol. Can you take a look at my tree?
Check you trigger springs on the battery husky. Ours stopped working but would power on like normal and one of the springs in trigger mechanisms had come loose
Great saw and good video.
Thanks for the stickers brother, with the purchase from Sappy Supplies. We got Buckingham carrier. Also, the rope runner pro. I set mine at three, seems adequate. One suggestion make the stickers bigger so I can slap them all over my pick up and give you more free advertisement. As always stay guilty of treeson, thanks brother.
Love love love our 500i. I'm like you, power to weight ratio is AMAZING
It is a good saw. You really notice it when you're in the tree with it.
Great video, thank you . I've been looking at one I'm going to go grab it.
Good choice!
geez that saw has a wild sound when it is really getting into it. Such a sweet idle 'bark'
I bought the MS 500i when it fist came out and have loved that saw. As a woodworker with a bandsaw sawmill it was sad to see those logs cut into firewood, even trees that seem rotten or useless have potential. Many wonderful things can be made from wood that most consider trash
I can see why you have so many subscribers - great content!
Damn son, 934k subs?! Good job! It seems like only yesterday you had 40k.
Great video, thanks for sharing, great saw, good that you cut down crap tree's before
Some one gets hurt, great job, THANKS
FOR ALL YOU DO...live in Port Angeles, NEIGHBORS....
@GuiltyofTreeson !Great content...have learned so much!
Question, I recently procured a stock MS500i and am curious to know how much fuel I can expect to burn through in a day of felling, limbing, and bucking?
I feel the same way, Jake. The 500 is the best all around big saw you can have.
I agree and I’m a husky guy, woukd love to grab a ported one
@itsfeltzzz1841 Yeah, I have one stock with a bark box. I have 4 other ones that are ported and Timing advance with the bark box, they are amazing, love them.
@@br-dj2ti How are the ported ones on fuel consumption and power compared to the no ported?
@@PurpleNovember I actually think they get better fuel when they are ported my opinion
@@PurpleNovember In the power is absolutely amazing when they are ported opinion
Love my 500, got the full wcs compliment which is very nice
You had me at Ported.😅 man when you cut into that cedar that saw was happy
My 500i starts on third pull when cold every time too man ..!! Love that saw..
I love the bullet pointed explanation for your purchase :)!! Kinda reminds me of someone trying to talk their skeptical wife into a big purchase.
I bought my stihl ms 361. I just use it to around the farm. And logged Southern pines that a ice storm damaged. I couldn't image running a 500. Growing up my dad's buddy logged. He ran a stihl 600 or 700 something model saw. I was young. I had too fill there saws up for them. It had a 36 inch bar. Hated carrying that saw around.
I just cut firewood in the mountains of central Arizona. I'm running a MS271 which I just bought last November. It does the job, just cutting downed oak trees to fill my Tacoma. I miss my days of the 090, 075, 394xp. I think my smallest saw was an 041. They are logging big red pines up where I've been cutting maybe one of the loggers will let me get my hands on a big thumper for a few cuts.
I like my 500i so much I have two. One running short 40cm bar and the other the 76cm. I also have a 93cm bar for when I need it.
Thought about the 661 but I literally cross cut / buck all day as a professional woodcutter. Working 6hrs in the sun / rain etc the 500i is lighter and reliable. Starts every third pull.
I wish I'd known about the 500I before the 661. I work with a non profit clearing downed trees from area rivers. I run a 661 with a 36 in bar when we need to cut underwater or large trees. Its SOOOOO heavy and wears you out using it. I have a 462 with a 25" bar that does our heavy work. Its just great. Now Im trying a 500I next to it tomorrow. If its as good as Im hearing Ill sell the 462 to a coworker and upgrade to the 500I.
Just wish I could find a shop in ohio to do porting etc like gordy does.
😂😂😂😂😂 40cm? Buy an echo 59cc for $500. On a 40cm bar. 😂😂😂😂
@@sasquatchrosefarts can you put a 93cm bar on it too? not likely
I have one, I’m not crazy enough to spend 1700 dollars on another chainsaw again lol
Actually I’m wrong I might get the ms881 just for the hell of it
I'm way farther east than you, we have mostly hardwoods here. I run a 28" bar on my (stock) 500i, and even that occasionally bogs down in dead Green Ash. Ported and cutting softer wood, then definitely a 42"!
I work at a company that is a dealer for Stihl. If you have time and keep your eye on the inventory in a store, sometimes they have a unit that has been on the shelf for a year or more like I had a 462 and we have very little walk in business because our main line is heavy equipment , parts and service. Stihl increases prices often and the 462 was in my inventory for almost a year and a half and a guy really liked it so in order to move it I gave him a 2 year old price vs the current price which is quite a bit of savings, you just have to ask if they can do better on price. My cost was low enough so the company still makes a profit and the customer saves about 200 bucks depending on the model.
Just thought I'd throw it out there.
Great video and good safe saw work 👍
DIGGING THE SHIRT BRO 🏝💥👍
You lucky boy, best chainsaw ever. Love how I sometimes have to back off to slow it down as it drags through logs bucking.
Very impressive, you have mad skills.
I just fixed my 034 stihl. It had a cut in the oiler line. I replaced the line and its back to new. Im not sure if the 592 is similar but it was a fairly easy fix. Send it to me if you want. Cheers
Love the channel
quich anual maintance thing do yourself the favor and change the sparkplugs once a year keeps them saws running nice
The 500i is definitely a "Buy Once, Cry Once" proposition. I think you'll enjoy that saw.
The fact of this is that I know he'll greatly enjoy that Stihl. I would rather know.
Thanks! Inspired by you and others I am making my first feeble attempts at videos. For me it is uncomfortable. Great show and money well spent.
At one time, early on the old channel, he used to censor the swears by replacing audio with a very short chainsaw sound. I thought that was pretty funny.
The 500 i is so beautiful!
Love my 500i, awsome saws
They are the bomb i got 4 of them. The only down part i think is the small gaz tank
I bought the 400 mtronic over the 462 last year. Then put a muffler, 3 poing dog's and air fillter from west coast saws. Its a screamer and only weights as much as my 290 farm boss.
Jacob if you can throw it out there to Gordy, possibly a West Coast bar box for the 201 TCM, also the 261 CM. If it’s not too much to ask, and a R rap handle for the 261 CM. I know you had yours custom fabricated from John who’s disappeared. Just thinking out loud.
Blessed bro, your blessed.....
I’m sticking with my 462!
Hey Jacob you did a video just recently where you used a double pully to rig down a branch but used it in a way I never seen before. Like it was a 2to1 pulley to help lift it. Could you maybe explaine how you rigged it. Or maybe even a video would be great. Thanks man.
I'm a husky guy all the way but lately been having some trouble with my huskies and I also have 500i and 261 and never have had any problems with my stihl
Agree power for wieght no carby issues. Worth the money for me'
I thought you did some changes to make your husky run faster, if so the reliability is not as good. Trade reliablility for performance. Open the air flow is one thing but the rest is probably not as good idea if you ask me but its just a subjective thought. Thx for great video!
Some husky saws the metal cover near the clutch cover studs gets gummed up and stops oil from coming out and or leaking, my 372 did the same thing
On the family farm, we still use a Stihl from 25 years ago and it still going strong ! lol
Nice work
Nice truck bro.!
I love using my 500i with all the West Coast Saw stuff on it! I've only had that running like crap issue once but I learned to let it idle for 15 minutes for it to relearn.
You should send that Husky to Rip Saw and see what they can do to it.
Your going to love the ported 500i! I have 2 and they are awesome. Both ported and run 36 bars on them most of the time. Gordy's suspension kit is great for it. Fun saw to run!
I wondered why I didn’t see you for a while used to watch you all the time !
Great video
Regarding battery saws have you had a go at the echo dcs 3500 yet? It’s unreal! This is coming from someone who has a collection of classic Stihl professional saws etc… I was very surprised!
I personally would rather have an old fashioned carb. Atleast it can be stripped tuned etc.
The 500i are brilliant, but i question the longevity. My favourite big saw is still a husquvarna 390xp.
I hear you but 25 year old cars that use fuel injection and computers still run just fine.. I was a little weary of fuel injection myself but realistically its actually really old tech at this point, its just finally making its way into tools. My mower if FI too and ive had zero problems.
I just bought a 462 because I happened to see an old fashioned carb was still an option. No m-tronic, no fuel injection.
I don't use a saw enough to ever wear it out, nor will I need a big bar (I bought a 20" to put on as the 28" it came with was a bit much).
Figured in 40 years I can fix a carb, fuel injection parts may not exist. (I'm running into this with my 30 year old trucks, can find parts but they're junk right out of the box 75% of the time).
As much as I'll need it, my kids will be tuning it up when I'm gone. My Dad's Stihl 029 is still going 30 years later, and never an issue.
We've been running the 500i saws for about 2 years almost every day. No problems except the oil leak when stored, and we see that with all of our saws, old and new, regardless of brand. Seems to be a rule with chainsaws. All saws must leak oil if you let them sit for more than a couple hours. It's just the law of the land. Otherwise, the 500 is commonly everything for us in between a top handle and a 880. The other saws have been reduced to pinch recovery and quick sharp tooth when the 500s are dull backups.
@@leftyeh6495 lucky fine 462 none MS not that easy to come by good for you am a carburetor man myself all of my stihl are 0 series before 2000 when MS started nothing wrong with adjusting hi low and idle screws
Sounds so mean with that Bark Box. I ordered one for my 400 and I can’t wait to get it installed
I am interested in hearing updates on the Husky battery saw repairs. Please let us know if/when you discover the cause of the failure, and how it was (hopefully) fixed. Thanks!
I'm not a professional electric tool repairman, but I've fixed quite a few of my Makita battery tools by opening them up, cleaning them out, tightening all the electrical connectors inside, and if they have them replacing the brushes. I have no clue if his problem with the saw is something as simple as that and I have no clue if he's already attempted similar troubleshooting, but worse case scenario if that isn't the problem it doesn't take too long to do, and the best case is you don't have to pay someone to fix it.
I think that this can be one of probably manny "safe switches", one probably don't have contact so it wont start
Try a different battery. My Makita saw wouldn't work with the two batteries I was using and those batteries still worked in my blower and when I swapped out the batteries I had spare it worked.
@@jonathanbrocklehurst6724 I was thinking the same thing.
Most of the battery tools are easily fixed, just a new microchip and it works like brand new. No different small parts that you have to install and stuff, one simple fix for almost everything! That's why I love battery powered tools.) gardener and landscaper from the Netherlands) ✌🏻
Thanks for taking the time to make this video! Sounds like you've had a few saws in your hand and for you to compliment the 500i is reassuring. I also took note to you cutting the strap below your back cut. This might help me out in the near future doing the same cut........tight chains and straight bars!
Most bar oil holes are too small these days, I drilled mine out to the same size as older bars.
I have a 500i I run at work, absolutely wonderful saw. Mine is only stock and wish I could have it ported but the stock saw is amazing. I was thinking about getting one of the aftermarket bark boxes for it but in your opinion is it worth it ?
You got me wanting a 500i...dont really need one though...gotta find me a big tree...maybe fertilize some smaller ones!
I have an ancient 064 (OB kit) , and compared to my buddies (stock) 500i, I feel like the 064 has substantially more power, and the weight difference in minimal- which is mine blowing considering the 064 is 35+ years old. I would love to try a ported 500i- might change my mind.
Agree, 064 remains v competitive. 500i don't like skip chains either I've found. 661 is my preferred saw now heaps of grunt.
I love my 500I. It is a badass saw. My saw is stock but is great
Dropping and buckin trees today with my 500 and it's just amazes me how well it does it's light and doesn't have any problems cutting anything I love it
Although I’m not pro by any means, I’ve had way more problems with my Husky saws compared to the Stihls. By the way, my Huskys puke bar oil all the time, including when they are sitting still. The tank will just about empty itself sitting on the shelf.
Nice videos you should post more often I watch most of your videos to learn as much as possible and nice new chainsaw
LETS GO STIHL!
Some Billy Ray vibes dropping those big cedars! Ever thought about going and catch him on Vancouver Island?
Was gonna get some advice about which go pro and mount to use for filming while climbing and trimming cutting trees
It's always been like this for men. I am not a pro, just regular user, but Huskys always giving me that feeling, that they could be more durable/refined/wory free, i don't know.
All the way I am a Stihl man
You definitely have to port it to cut with a long bar.. stock they don't cut well over 32in. Especially in the face cut.
That 500i just eats like it's nothing. I bought the ms660c and I'm really happy with it. Was a little leery of a fuel injected model because of parts reliability potential.
We'll see if I was right. Glad it works great for you.
Same fuel system has been on the TS500i concrete saw for years longer than the wood saw. It's got good history.
Going to bed early for school? Screw that, GoT uploaded! Just spent 30 bucks on Sappy Supplies today in hopes I win the MS 194T to go with my MS 194C rear-handle carving saw and top-handle Makita. Stay safe and enjoy your new saw jake!
I know people act like it's hard to get much extra power over stock out of a 592.
With that being the case, how would you compare the power of your 592 to the your new ported 500i?
Antone runs a 500i kitted out with Gordy's stuff and ported I think. Do you need another reason? Expensive overkill for my needs, but I would like to see what a saw like that could do.
His 7900 was stock, a properly ported 7900 Dolly or Makita will hang with the 500i and at half the cost.
I LOVE my 500i have it ported,Barkbox & Max-Flo Filter & run 60-1 96 Octane juice. It EATS GREAT👍👍
See if Gordy wants to take a look at the 592, maybe one you can do a video on it.
When you first fired that up. I was like introducing the 500i weed eater 2500 dollars of weeds nightmares.
