Hey Jake, not sure if anyone has already commented about this but, I am a power line clearance tree trimmer and most of the time you can call the power company for “assist” with removal of trees by the power lines. They will get everything on the line side off of it free of charge in most cases to make it safe for private tree companies to work on trees by the wires like that.
Just takes a little planning but makes things tremendously safer
I vote this should be a "Highlighted Comment". 👍
Same here bro, I do it in the uk
If your a good line clearance trimmer you should be cringing at how he’s working around the lines! Lots of mistakes…
@@briantownsend5124 for sure😂 but I also know he’s great at private side work and not a lot of guys know about the contractor assists that we do as LCTT’s so I’d rather inform him about it than watch him get himself hurt or worse.🤙
Hey Jake
Shout-out from Dublin, Ireland 🤙
Video uploaded an hour ago and already over 2.5k views - Man Y'are going places let Me tell You that!
On Top of that such an Inspiring Young Person to All of Us around the World....!
Thank You for Who You Are & What You Doing, be Blessed and Your Family 🙏👊
If You ever in Ireland give Me a holler and We'll have a cold One or Twoooo....
Michael.
a realy safe, awesome job Jake
make sure that fiberglass is clean on your broom it can conduct electricity if dirty. you can have it tested as well. digger Derek operator set a lot of poles in hot primary
Nice choice on the truck! It is kinda like a Swiss Army knife. Have a great weekend!
My tallest Carolina Poplar what is 135 ft and 65 tons. It had a 135 ft spread, and was located on the Southeast corner of the museum of nature in Ottawa.
Man that Milwaukee pole saw is next level
Jake I wish you'd do some east asia contract arborist stuff at some point. Korea/Japan
Hi Jake, you need to get a bar from the truck stops. Flat Bedder s use them for tightening their winches for straps.
Nice job
Were you having some flashbacks to that one big piss fur or whatever it was that you did in that back yard shortly after going out on your own when you ran out of wedges and were super nervous?? Perfect shot man!
I went and looked , there really is a company called Sappy Supplies
Yeah, it's Jakes company.
If you go to any truck stop, they sell a bar that the truckers use to tighten the straps on their flatbeds. The ratchet strap on the GRCS seems to use the same device and tool.
I to am guilty, lol great job . Retired electrician here you had me a little nervous, glad it worked out for you.
Nice. Yer used that driver for grcs few time. Great for pullin leaders up still leave bita hinge. We did snap anchor once tho. So watch that. Thanx
You are an super skilled artist 🙏
Good work mate, looked like some nice jobs there 👍
Nice shootin Tex!
That was a hoss.
395xp 😍
Milwaukie = Heavy. Period. ("Full Stop", for anyone from the UK) 🤷♂😂
All joking aside; in the intro you held the camera up at the trees and you kept it steady. I hope it's not too much to say, I'm proud of you. 😊
Great work as always! 👍
Good Job as always Jake! Keep it up!
That orchard ladder strapped to your truck is one of those 'Must Haves' in tree care.
Yes please, love when I see GOT vids pop up! (Edit:Grammar/Spelling)
I live on the east coast I could do road service but the mileage would run the bill up 😂. Merry Christmas and be safe.
I like the long format
You need to rename the channel to Guilty of Cottonwoodkilling 😂
Lol😂
Cottonwoods never die. You can only slow them down.
Seen them grow back from firewood rounds.
Jake the Cottonwood Killer
Good western name
I thought Jacob was the Kale killer! 🤣
Sometimes there’s a Silver Maple Murder. Don’t ask him to pingeonhole himself like that. 😂
Quality of these videos just keep getting better and better when they've already been top-notch for a long time!
Good job Jacob. Methodical and purposeful. Professional.
Great Job
Being cautious with careful planning and getting it done with no injuries or damage.. is a huge win.
Have a wonderful Christmas
Wow that was a big cottonwood for sure! Glad you got it down safe! Thanks for the great videos! Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and yours Jake! 👋
Merry Christmas to you too!
Very heavy tree. I have a co-dominant Cottonwood approx. 65" at the base and 120' tall. It is very full and approx. 50' to 60' wide at its widest point. It lives around 20' away from my 90 year old home. I am guessing at the height, but it is at least 3x as tall as my 35' home. The thing I hate about cottonwood is the knuckles on the branches make them weak and in wind storms I get tons of branches down. Central Michigan
Nice work, you had the King Kong of the Cottonwood species there. Could tell it was heavily laden with water too, made one heck of a thud when she landed.
Big Tree, nice takedown! A word of caution, I saw a gloved hand on the rope behind the pulley at 11:17. Should the spool slip there is the potential for your hand to go through the pulley. Gloves can get you around certain moving and rotating equipment. Be safe out there. enjoyed the vid and have a Merry Christmas.
Man that new 540 is just insane
Nice work Jake!!
Nice work jake!!
Another good one Jacob. Bought my first pro saw today. 562xp. I'm giddy.
You're gonna LOVE that saw. I bought one ported from Mastermind Worksaws and I don't regret it one bit.
Oh! That was scary looking. Is your boom dielectric?
Another great job!!!!
Great video, keep them coming...🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Nice job ! Those cottonwood trees eat up the wedges.
You are the king, harbor freight tools is advertising on your site. Let me borrow fifty bucks. Just kidding.God bless you Jacob.
Nice work!
Sweet tools. Great job !!
Great video, Jacob really enjoyed that one mate great job thank you😊😊😊😊
Hey Jake I know a pretty good mobile mechanic that’s local. He’s worked on a few companies I’ve contact climbed for. He even worked on my chipper.
Well done Jake. You’d work out just fine with our line clearance Treeple anyday. Thanks for sharing big guy😊
I hope you still have your 880!
Jake,
I am really surprised the trunk was not rotten inside. Have seen way too many cottonwoods are 'cannon-barrels'. Nice job!
Their not nearly as straightforward to drop when they are hollow.
Professional assessment:"it's a big, fat, fatty" lmao😂
I only use those pigtail, fair leads when lowering a load. I would keep it in the jaws until ready to lower. Keep up the good work.
100k miles... that engine is still just a baby in the diesel world.
Over a million subscribers, holy Hannah. He’s truly done it, Jake you’ve came a long way from back at East Side , always will be the man
Jason, cost of unit or kit, or how are they priced? Step out and be the main man that puts together complete kits like Bailies!!!! Break the hold before someone else does!!
Such cool furniture, like tables, could be made from the base of that tree. Do you save or sell the bottom portion of massive trunks?
Good for some lumber uses, looked it up just now.
Worthless, costs more to get it to a mill than its worth
all the specialty equip is amazing.. I live in San Diego and compared to what you fell we have baby trees. Of course every tree in San Diego has been planted by someone. It always creates huge discussions by my students that there are no indiginous trees in San Diego and every tree the see has been planted by someone. good job
When I was in SD I saw tons of trees alongside the highways and on cliffs where they looked naturalized, like they sprouted there through nature. Are you saying all of those too are planted?
That was an epic performance my brother!
Nice
For brushing out, the HS 82 T hedge trimmer worked great for landscaping cleanups.
Not sure if the math works out. With time and cost of chain sharpening and replacing, it might.
Nice drop, slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Dude that was like zero hinge on a poplar that big!! Main things is it went the right place though, well done. As for the husky 540, I can’t stand how it’s always on the rev limiter, sorry.
Hello. Greetings from Poland 🙂👋
Jacob, I’m quite certain that the top-handle saw is running too rich on the carburetor screw. You should consider leaning it out “some”, like 1/8 turn.
Pretty sure the t540 is autotune.
@@mattfleming86 if it’s a 540 it is, but he’s also prone to run his MS200T Stihl and it seems like he’s ran an Echo 2511T.
I would like to get that capstan which you used for moving some trees around my house. Can you recommend place to get one?
dont know how and why wood related stuff is getting into my recommendation xD but it is and i love it!
If i wasn't an artists i would definitely be full time Arborist, it just seems a lot of fun, combining two of my favorite things, rock climbing and nature, and maybe i will but the Netherlands doesn't have such great views like in the US sadly :/
and Jake would you have any advice for getting into the career?
Just curious why did not bring out the 88 to this job but also between the 592 and the 395 with only a few cc of difference how much of a power difference is there?
Not far off 6’ is a bloody big tree. Good job 👍🏻
Home schooling your chill'n good on you Brother... I highly recommend you start learning your to work on that Truck...
@3:58 - Shouldn't your saw also be tethered to the bucket?
That must be a different type of Cottonwood from what we call Cottonwoods here. Our 'Cottonwoods' put out a huge amount of 'cotton', but ours seldom grow much past 15" in diameter. Then, they just fall over while still with leaves. Really useless wood. Rots fast. Hard to burn. Fire gives very little heat.
Damn
If you don’t have a bucket truck or some kind of lift your not a tree service. And never go between wires like that, splitting phases like that is very dangerous! Have you even had that truck dielectrically tested? Working around service power lines is no joke Jake
That sailing winch would work better with just three wraps.
Man, that little saw you are trimming with is so ripped it sounds like it's going to fly away with you. Lol
surprised it does not fly apart with all the free reving he does.🤨
@@iffykidmn8170why would it lmao
For those who are wondering the bucket harness he is using is called the Petzl Newton fast with a absorbica lanyard.
Thank you 😉👍👍
If you are in need of a different mobile mechanic in the future I’ve got a good one located in enumclaw.
Buddy if ya lived closer I'd send ya # to one of the best mobile diesel mech I know all his service trucks have 6.7 cums.
Sore but Ohio little way to travel for mobile mechanics.
God Bless and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Kyle
14:08 what camera is this view on
Name and brand of this camera.., it's clean and HD
Looks to me like You almost cut through Your Hinge!
Somehow, I always figured Jake and Mrs. Treeson where wise enough to homeschool their children.
God bless, rock on and Merry Christmas!
It's sad that you can't trust school these days. Home schooling has always been worse for children in terms of personal growth, but now I don't know if I'd say so.
@@GLUFSAREN As one who was homeschooled from grades 7-12, I would argue personal growth explodes when homeschooled. I made my schedule, the order I took my classes in and had the ability to do all of that before noon so I could run a small business and play several sports. I was "independent" without being institutionalized and brainwashed by our public school systems and did plenty of socializing. Be a good parent, keep your kids disciplined and they will thrive, especially if homeschooled.
I love cutting that soft cottenwood, but the smell...🫠
Make it rain Leaves 😂🎉🎉🎉
We have some big cottonwoods up at my Brother's place in Elk Heights above South Prairie that may need some limbs removed that hang over the road (limb heavy the wrong way) and a rope placed to pull them into our field when we cut them down. How do I get ahold of you if we decide we need your help to take them down?
Text me! 253 245 6291 👍
First! Awesome work man!~
We are you Randy?!!😢
Hey Jake sorry to bring this up. But after i herd about jed i really am scared to do this job now do you havevtios for me to help me become a good tree worker
Curious what weight you guys use for your axe heads?
Interesting, were you contracted with the utility company? In Canada here they wouldn't let anyone non-utility near the lines like this especially live lines. Their hydro bucket trucks are all kitted out with non grounded booms and that jazz.
In the States, a guy can get "EHAP" certified for jobs like this one
I’m also powerline certified tree trimmer and from my understanding someone who is not certified cannot work within 10 feet of the wires you definitely shouldn’t be going in between the wires if you’re not trained hate to sound like that guy but I mean I’m pretty proud of what I’ve accomplished.
@@thomasseemann2547 anyone who wants can take the course. There's no special sash you have to wear so anyone driving by knows. You just better have your credentials if the power company comes by
@@batmantissno
@@tomyousch7070 yes, as a matter of fact. Ask me how I know
God bless you Jake!!! I was thrilled to hear that you are homeschooling your children. Keep up the great content and keep God in the equation always!!
Amen!
What is your all time favourite saw set up and what was your first chainsaw ever?
Back in 1977 in one of the parks i cared for was hit by a tornado and 3 huge Cottonwood trees were knocked down - all 3 were 72" to 76" at the stump and around 125 feet tall
Big boys!
I threw a throw ball over a 69kv line once and nothing happened, definitely won't do anything on a single phase, I know from experience lol
Hey bro should I switch chainsaw brand I use stihl but I have changed 4 engines in one year I wait for it to warm up I wait for I to cool down before I turn it off but I don’t
Brands have their issues, but if you've had to do four engines in a year, you might be doing something wrong. Are you using good, fresh, gas, preferably ethanol-free (or use a fuel preservative with anti-ethanol properties) that is 50:1 (2.6 oz. of oil per gallon), with good 2 stroke oil such as Echo Red Armor, or Stihl oil? Are you shaking the gas+oil mixture before each fueling of the saws? Are you sure it's an engine issue, not a clogged air filter, a bad/ dirty spark plug, clogged muffler/exhaust, clogged fuel filter or fuel line, or clogged or improperly adjusted carburetor? Also, are you fixing it with OEM parts or Stihl parts? Some of the Chinese knockoff parts are junk.
who won the echo saw
You scared me leaving your saw by the stump.
That a big thiccc tree
Oh man that was close! You left the smallest portion of wood possible for that hinge! What a nice cut right there!
Thanks!
Hey, Jake, what's your opinion on this? I've been cutting climbing for a long time. I'm doing a huge oak 6 and a 1/2. Foot across the log is that big. 45 foot up from the ground. My cut with my 66 with a 36 inch bar starts off. Great when I get into the middle of the log. My bar is binding up. And the chain won't cut can u give any opinions on that. I have really never ran into the scenario before thank you god bless
Perhaps there is metal embedded in the tree. It’s fairly common. Hope that helps. Cheers.
@Grumpygus94 Yeah, there's no medal at all. I haven't hit nothing like the first 20 cuts. Perfect and then all the sudden. When I get halfway through, it binds my bar or chain and it will not cut but if I pull the saw out and start a new cut on the opposite side. It works fine brand new bar brand new chain. But once I start getting in to that wood towards the middle . It starts binding again. I don't understand I am so confused thank you for your help
Could be a split in the tree? When the fiber separates at a split sometimes it’ll pull in different directions as you start into the other piece. Then the bar will start to twist.
Are your dogs the same length and tight. If so the bar might be bent or the chain isn't sharpened right.
@@joegreenwood1443 Thank you so much
Mannnnn going between the primary and neutral like that cannot be safe. I would 100% contact the power company, they would much rather send out a crew to help then the possible alternative…
Isn’t that the tree from the avatar movie?
Do you sell 'Pickle Hoisting Slings' at Sappy's Supply? #AskingForFriend Merry Christmas To All!!
