In Mexico selling VIP boxes is a standard practice, usually they do it to minimize the cost of building a stadium (for example estadia azteca) and people sell the boxes like assets
Yeah. So if you look at AC Milan, they are doing the opposite. Their owner has put a huge emphasis on owning rights to everything. It’s the main reason they want to build a stadium. I speculate that he has an aim to put pressure on the league to generate more commercial and television revenue. Right now, one of Redbird’s companies is trying to acquire the Paramount network, which airs the Serie A. I think it’s reasonable to speculate that it would allow Redbird to have more control over how the revenue would be negotiated for the league. Berlusconi did something similar back when he revitalized Milan and the league, in general. Anyways, long ramble short, I think we’ll see clubs move away from that and Barcelona will likely fall into shambles.
From what I know, this sale is around 15 to 20 years long, and this financial fair play problem is something that, according to the accounts, would be solved with the Nike agreement, but due to some points in the regulations, the income from it will only start to count from the following season. In addition, the salary payments delayed by the pandemic will end this season, so that is another reduction in expenses, which will help fair play even more.

Crazy how after Hazard Madrid have change their focus to signing players on a free. While Barcelona continue spending a ungodly amount of money on players they can’t register
Barcelona might not look it but we are the club in the most dire position in the world. What does 3 to 5 more years of relative success mean if for the next 30 YEARS barca are going to be unable to buy new players, and all the players we produce will have to be sold in order to pay off debt. I genuinely can see my club getting relegated in 15 years time and that is very sad.
2:00 it was indeed the truth. The thing is that Barcelona's finance is fully public amd there is nothing not known by everyone, because Barcelona is literally owned by their members. But own in a literal semse, you become a member of FCB by buying a part of it, not like Bayern where you become a member of a business that owns bayer which means you effectively own nothing, you have a chunk of the club so you get to know the finances and get to decide for the levers and sustainability and the academy localist base. There are many videos explaining what happens in FCB but essentially a company owes already 180 million which translates on a lower limit for how the spanish federation treats fairplay. Barcelona is not really on a struggle economically on the long term, only in the short term (amd the short term can affect the long term). Barcelona has not really a debt problem at all, for comparision, Real Madrid debt is slightly highwr as they are doing works at the stadium
I just went on the Barcelona website to look at tickets, doing some bad and probably wrong maths, if they sell out the VIP areas it ranges from 60,000 Euros for Champions league to 30,000 Euros vs Deportivo league game. Average it out to maybe 45,000 a game. If they play 25 home games per season that is 1,125,000 Euros a season. (Not including other events like basketball). I would imagine that means its a 100 year lease?
Its called an accounting move, selling the "rights to operate??" The VIP seats ? The bernabeu did this not too long ago, selling that to probably a contact of Laporta that is going to give them back to Barcelona for like 20 million euros when barça are finally too good to draw attention with shady moves
I’m a united fan but I really hope Barca can figure things out. I have tremendous respect for how they approach youth and style of play. Would be a shame to see them fall from grace.
Hey guys. I am not an economic savvy person at all but I think this is some sort of loan thing. They get 100m now and pay it back later but before they pay it all back the money coming into the vip boxes will go as a payment to the buyer. As compensation
Real Madrid has also sold VIP seats, as well as many other European clubs that don't have a sugar daddy. This is not new. It's just hyped up because it's Barcelona.
