The crazy thing about that last botch is that there is a little more behind it. The dude gets pinned by his opponent and the ref stops at a 2 count. The referee then counts the 3.
out of the many weird things wrestling fans do, one I simply can't wrap my head around is when some of them get REALLY defensive when someone speaks out against indy wrestlers who seem to try to kill themselves. you have veterans and concerned viewers who say stuff like "pls, don't do a Double Shooting Star Press onto the thumbtacks from the second floor of the arena" and both a few wrestlers and some Smarks act like one just insulted their ma. when dumb suicidal moves get criticized it's because people care about other's safety and know there's no need to almost die in exchange of a taco and a mildly-viral clip online where we don't even know who the performers are. is that really so bad?
It's not just wrestling fans. There's a lot of pressure in the locker room to do that too. I wrestled from 2003 to 2007 and part of the reason why I stopped besides the injuries was because of the increasing pressure to do hardcore matches, and this ECW mentality that everybody had. Basically they figured there was no way they could sell out a show unless we came out with barbed wire bats and steel chairs and all of the other equipment. It was basically exactly what AEW is today and what Jon Moxley wrestles like now. You have a bunch of untrained newbies swinging the stuff around in an unsanitary environment and it's a recipe for disaster. Meanwhile I'm the lowest guy on the card and I am flat out refusing to do these matches because my gimmick is more in line with Chris Benoit, Ric Flair, Macho Man Randy Savage, and other technical wrestlers. So it gave me a little bit of a way out and I refused to blade was another problem that gave me heat backstage. The boys felt like I didn't want to put anybody over. Yet I sold like Dolph Ziggler. My philosophy was very old school. If you punch me and I take it the way HBK takes a punch from Hogan then you look golden. If you body slam me and I bounce around the ring then you look golden. I don't need to lay in a puddle of my own blood and urine for you to look strong. Needless to say you've got these guys who are all trying to outdo each other on their finishers. Omega crusher off of the second rope for example. And there's no way you're going to be able to veto not taking somebody's finisher. So just by taking these crazy finishers even if you do manage to script a technical match you're going to get hurt finisher from finisher. Because they got to get their stuff in. It'd be amazed how fast you can get hurt just from a death of a thousand cuts kind of deal. Factor in a couple of car crashes and now at 44 years old I'm in so much pain that I'm pretty sure I have CTE and I just wonder how many months I'm going to live. I thought I was going to die 4 years ago. At this point every day I wake up I curse the heavens and wish I hadn't. I run my own wrestling channel and I do very similar things as Stevie Richards and Maven. But because I'm not famous nobody really cares. I just hope that I can get to a 1000 subs Because I make less than $10,000 a year and I really could use it just to put food on the table or get some medical treatments
The fact that people do this on the indies is what makes no sense to me. Fair enough for WWE or AEW you make big money but to me you have to be deranged or a GIGANTIC wrestling mark to be diving off shit and landing on your neck/back etc or getting a chair to the face for probably $10.

I wrestled for 4 years between 2003 and 2007 and I can tell you the damage that I did in around a hundred matches or so is more than a lot of people has done in 10,000 matches. The Indies are a place where people do not have much skill and it's very easy to hurt yourself even when you are working a non hardcore style which they are constantly trying to push. The purposely kept myself away from it and it did not matter. I patterned my style after Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Bret Hart, Macho Man Randy Savage, Ric Flair and guys like that but it doesn't matter when your opponents finisher is an omega crusher off the second rope. You're going to take damage
Even "safer" top rope moves like Randy's elbow drop will do a number on you over time. When you factor in the jump you're dropping at least 6 feet onto your hip and shoulder. I've seen someone fall off a 2 footstep and break a rib
The wrestler falling to the gym floor is 'Freakboy' Jimmy Malloy from IWA Columbus, now closed since the passing of its owner Bull Miller. Anyway, the one on the turnbuckle I believe is Aaron Andrews. The spot was for Jimmy to slam him into the post from the floor and Aaron would get caught for a moment until he fell to the floor. Aaron was suppose to be there for Jimmy and Jimmy had so I am not sure why he wasn't there for him and why Jimmy still went? Jimmy said when he landed, he was able to just save his head, but he landed mostly on his femur and severely bruised his ribs. He did shatter his femur in 5 places and had it fixed with pins. He was back in the ring and still wrestles today not taking as many risks due to this incident. I guess he learned from a mistake that nearly could have killed him.
Jimmy should probably just find a new hobby. He clearly didn't have much brain activity going on before the hotdog and handshake dive, probably has even less now after smacking his cranium off those beautiful gym floors.
My dad was a paramedic and drilled safety into my head all the time when I was a kid. He was a real stickler for helmets because he saw people all the time who didn’t wear a helmet and ended up with brain damage. The head and brain are way more fragile than most people realize. One unlucky fall can kill you. One unlucky blow can cause permanent severe brain damage. It blows my mind how indie wrestlers and even big name wrestlers can be so reckless and irresponsible. Not just with their own bodies, but with others’. And beyond safety, if everybody’s doing crazy flips then none of it feels special.

A year ago I went to a local wrestling show and it was probably one of the safest shows I've seen. The best matches on the card were I think the opener, which was wrestling 101 of the babyface saying he's gonna kick the heel in the face, he gets denied for the whole match, the heel kicks the babyface in the face after an incident with the ref, and then finally, the face gets the kick, pins him, standing ovation. The other was after intermission and it was a more technical, hard hitting match. Also the women's match in the main event was quite good as well. You really don't have to do stuff like this. If you're new, don't bother. If you can't hit the move every time in practice, don't bother. I'd much rather see people who understand wrestling than people who can flip.

The guy who flips onto the floor trying to do one of the hardest and banned gymnast flips not surprised he failed doing such a flip that the best gymnasts struggle to do.
I'm pretty sure you're mistaken. Super Dragon weighed more and had a different attire, while similar to this. However, I don't know who it is, the footage is from CZW circa 2004-2006
From what I remember reading about the guy who botched the flip and landed on his face like that, the ropes were a little slick and the ceiling might have been low, so he couldn't get the height to do the move and had no momentum to flip his body. I guess he not only survived, but when on to wrestle more.
Friends ask me sometimes how to know if someone has a lot of empathy, especially since it is a “mostly self reported” trait. Stevie has an enormous amount of empathy. (I’d say James has a normal amount of empathy). The way to tell is when you’re having a long talk with someone, and they say something low key like, “it makes me want to reach out to these kids and make sure they’re okay…” then there’s a very good chance that person has above average emotional empathy. 97-99% of the population wouldn’t ever think something like that. Stevie is as human of a wrestling podcaster as we’ve ever had and it’s been amazing to watch.
I was an Indy wrestler for 6 years & I never understood some of the weird things people would try. 1 show 2 guys tried to work out a spot where the high flyer would springboard into the ring & the other guy would catch him upside down in a suplex position & hold him. No Matter how big you are & how small the other guy is you can’t catch someone upside by the head & hold them. Never worked when they tried before the show nor when they tried it during the show. Again, not sure why they tried it anyways when it never worked.
3:24 what the fuck was this kid trying to do? was he going to flippy twist shooting star press the guy giving the turnbuckle a figure4leglock? such a shame no one will ever be as cool as he almost was in his own head...
It would be fun to see Stevies take on some of the more serious legit shoots like Act/Yoshiko or Kumiko/Nanae although the tag match where they really went at each other is hard to find :(
That last guy is blessed that he wasn’t immediately dead after that landing on his neck/head/vertebrae. People criticize the Hogans, Cenas, Ortons, Austins, and Rocks of professional wrestling saying they’re boring and only have 3-4 moves. This is why those guys work a safe style and utilize a grounded offensive style. High flying just isn’t worth the risk in the whole risk versus reward aspect of what could go wrong. I’d rather be safely boring than doing an ooh and ahh maneuver that could injury, paralyze, or kill me. These independent wrestlers and even “pros” within big name companies are getting ridiculous because as Al Snow points out, how do you top that? It gets more dangerous each time an insane move is done.
2nd clip: Spiderman is filming... because even HE found it to be a SPECTACULAR spot... dare I even say... AMAZING?! 3rd clip: It almost looks like he fell as opposed to diving off. I think it was intended to be a spot of him dropping down onto the guy wrapped around post, but he lost his balance and fell, otherwise, where the hell was he going? 4th clip: I've seen the original, and my favorite part was right after the spot, amidst the silence, some girl shouts "he's ok..."
The wrestler that had the top rope moonsault botch is Kenshi from MLW before he got that gimmick. As you can see, he's fine and even made fun of that botch in a video on Isiah Kassidy's channel.
Hey Stevie i recently been watching you cause i used to be a fan of pro wrestling as a child then in my teens fell out of love with it but now that im older I've became a fan again and one of the reasons i fell back in love with the scene and went back to older matches and new ones too of wrestling matches of all kinds and one of the matches that helped boost my interest in coming back to the fandom was your [WWE Heat May 26, 2002] match that moment you pinned Crash Holly for the win and booked it out the ring had me busting out laughing so ive recently been going back to your matches and honestly you where and are insanely underrated asa over all champ and wrestler even with the loses theirs still some good moments to take from it
James asked how the guy in the third clip isn't able to move despite obviously holding himself up by the ring post. Considering how the clip plays out, pulling himself up by the ring post seems like a pretty smart evasion. After all, if he'd gotten down, he might have been hit by the crazy person that decided to do a spinny backflip diving headbutt/splash/whatever.
I unfortunately saw a guy break his back like in 2000. He did, I guess, a senton and had the guy move, to the floor. Everyone in the back tried to talk him out of it but he ended up hurting himself pretty bad. Was able to walk with crutches after a couple years
That's modern "wrestling" for you. Too many concerned with getting on the highlight reel and getting the "holy Sh*t" pop. Less flips/high spots, more storytelling.

Spider-man is working his real job. Photographer.
The guy who flips onto the floor trying to do one of the hardest and banned gymnast flips not surprised he failed doing such a flip that the best gymnasts struggle to do.
The first clip, that's Super Dragon. I'd have thought he'd know better than doing something that idiotic. Guess not lol
I'm pretty sure you're mistaken. Super Dragon weighed more and had a different attire, while similar to this. However, I don't know who it is, the footage is from CZW circa 2004-2006
I thought the kid splatting on the basketball court would be the worst but that moonsault on his neck made me physically sick. My god.
The last dude was Ricochet!😂
Is wrestlers watching horrific botches like a watching stories of terrible dental accidents before going to see the dentist? lol
Compared to other Sports Pro Wrestling is so important to get the Training You need!.
Sycho Sid deserved an honorary showing.
Still don't know what Sid was thinking doing a big boot from the middle rope. What's the point? He's 7 feet tall. Just do a regular big boot.
Stevie with the Fire Pro Wrestling names Cryin Danielson lol
I went to wrestling school and I watch wrestling and when I saw this I was in pain.
The part about SID breaking his leg thats so crazy is that Scott Stenier decides to start kicking him. "You seee 💪😎"
These may be my favourite style of video from Stevie. I love his insight into the most minute detail
Breaking Bad’s own Dryan Cranielston
From what I remember reading about the guy who botched the flip and landed on his face like that, the ropes were a little slick and the ceiling might have been low, so he couldn't get the height to do the move and had no momentum to flip his body. I guess he not only survived, but when on to wrestle more.
Everybody gets one.
Spider-Man: nah, I'm just going to let this happen.
I didn’t think it could get worse than that backflip corkscrew head first into the hard gym floor…but I was wrong.
These botches honestly get funnier and funnier, I’m sorry. High Risk, no reward whatsoever
They went for everything and got nothing.
The third hade me pausing the video because I was laughing that much
Friends ask me sometimes how to know if someone has a lot of empathy, especially since it is a “mostly self reported” trait.
Was hoping to see "Crosses himself!" in here, and I'm not disappointed. All that's missing is the sound of the bump😩
Spider-man wrestles randy savage and now is a cameraman in indies 😂 😂 😂
The second I clicked on this I knew what the final clip would be. And I still was not ready. I'll never be ready to watch that clip. Jeez...
Too bad AEW block their botches.
2:30 - Spider-Man. Spider-Man!
Does whatever a spider can!
Taking shots
of your botch...
I saw this on my recommended list and I swear to you I read the title as Stevie reacting to "High Flying 𝑩𝑬𝑶𝑻𝑪𝑯𝑬𝑺".
Damn it, man.
I like to believe many of these guys were forced to run laps in gym class. And then they decided to show all their passed gym teachers up.
I was an Indy wrestler for 6 years & I never understood some of the weird things people would try. 1 show 2 guys tried to work out a spot where the high flyer would springboard into the ring & the other guy would catch him upside down in a suplex position & hold him. No
Matter how big you are & how small the other guy is you can’t catch someone upside by the head & hold them. Never worked when they tried before the show nor when they tried it during the show. Again, not sure why they tried it anyways when it never worked.
Doesn't Excalibur have like Botchamania HOF??😂
No, he's just in PWG's White Guys Saying The N Word With The Hard R HOF with Steen 🤮
3:24 what the fuck was this kid trying to do? was he going to flippy twist shooting star press the guy giving the turnbuckle a figure4leglock?
such a shame no one will ever be as cool as he almost was in his own head...
i thought he was going to watch the one where the dude missed the elbow drop from way up a few years ago
3:35 that fucked him hard. I know him, he recovered eventually. If i remember he never came back to wrestle but don't quote me.
He shattered his hip
2nd clip: Spiderman is filming... because even HE found it to be a SPECTACULAR spot... dare I even say... AMAZING?!
3rd clip: It almost looks like he fell as opposed to diving off. I think it was intended to be a spot of him dropping down onto the guy wrapped around post, but he lost his balance and fell, otherwise, where the hell was he going?
4th clip: I've seen the original, and my favorite part was right after the spot, amidst the silence, some girl shouts "he's ok..."
Stevie is so cool
That scorpion is what paralyzed hyabusa.
He was able to walk before he died.
@sheepdavis sure but still he was paralyzed for the most of rest of his life so.
I’m surprised we don’t heard about more deaths in local pro wrestling
Well Peter Parker is a journalist after all. It makes sense he would record events dispassionately
I really feel like we need to go back to where they didn’t just let anyone in the wrestling business.
You could probably put in that idiot who decided to give someone a moonsault Styles Clash off the top rope without getting the guys permission first.
More botch reactions!
I just saw that double moonsault botch on insta earlier today… I can’t escape it. My neck hurts watching it
The wrestler that had the top rope moonsault botch is Kenshi from MLW before he got that gimmick. As you can see, he's fine and even made fun of that botch in a video on Isiah Kassidy's channel.
I can't even stomach to watch most of these. That last one made me physically feel sick because my neck had been injured and bothers me daily
Hey Stevie i recently been watching you cause i used to be a fan of pro wrestling as a child then in my teens fell out of love with it but now that im older I've became a fan again and one of the reasons i fell back in love with the scene and went back to older matches and new ones too of wrestling matches of all kinds and one of the matches that helped boost my interest in coming back to the fandom was your [WWE Heat May 26, 2002] match that moment you pinned Crash Holly for the win and booked it out the ring had me busting out laughing so ive recently been going back to your matches and honestly you where and are insanely underrated asa over all champ and wrestler even with the loses theirs still some good moments to take from it
Peter Parker is a professional photo journalist.
Damn son! Spider Man out here trying to get content for his RUclips channel
Was able to walk with crutches after a couple years
Shout out Mr Rupert for Family Guy content.
Worst part about the double moonsault attempt: The dude tried to kick out and continue!
This one’s for James… “YOU THINK THAATS BAD,”
That's modern "wrestling" for you. Too many concerned with getting on the highlight reel and getting the "holy Sh*t" pop. Less flips/high spots, more storytelling.
I love athleticism in wrestling, I really do. And I love well executed flippy shit.
But for me, as a fan, I never feel like "wow I wish they'd do that to the outside" or "wow I wish they'd do it from the top of the cage".
I think he used his 1 Spider-man save before that video that's why he never saved him lol.
Come on man, Spiderman is only filming for "The Daily Bugle" online wrestling content!!!
Honestly Steven Richards deserved buster than Sunday night heat matches right to censor was great back in the day
YES!!! More Stevie!
James earned a "you sick fuck!" chant at the 5:44 mark. 🤣🤣🤣
