I flew with them in the year 2000 from Vnukovo airport to Omsk. When they were known as Sibir Airlines. It was a TU154. Very old plane. But boy was the food good on that flight, and the coffee.

They've gotten rid of the boarding pass printer and now allow mobile boarding passes. They also now provide in-flight entertainment accessible from mobile phones, as well as wifi for a small fee.

I feel slightly offended that you said we didn't use the technology "like the rest of the world". In fact, in many areas of everyday life the technology is better in Russia than in European countries (I live in Norway so I know what I'm talking about), e.g. apps for banks. :-)

This is because these people have experienced food deficit (I know, communist lovers will try to kill me for this sentence) and lack of choice in shops. So when they see that they will have to queue, they will rush to get there first. Well, back in the days they did so in order not to miss their food or whatever what. Now there is no point to rush. Flew S7 from Moscow to Novosibirsk and they were very good value. Flew on an A320 in the Business Class cabin and I have to say the experience was better than many of their One World family.
Russians are like that in the shops too. Whilst I was there I had several people just blatantly push in front of me at the supermarket. Either it is a moscow thing, or it is a Russia thing. I guess S7 airlines doesn't bother with a priority line, in russia everyone is priority and must get in front. But yeah, for most westerners it is incredibly rude. I flew Alitalia once from Heathrow to Milan. Back in 2011. Could have got a flight with another airline from the same airport or another for a much cheaper price. Just wanted to try them.... 7:30am flight. Chaos at boarding. One of the Heathrow security men told me its was always organised chaos with Alitalia. Only ones to compare them with was Continental. Flight was ok though. But for my £199 I just got a bag of nuts and a coffee. Probably much better now.
hello inflight, I was just wondering wether you invite members to join you on a trip? Being close by in Nottingham, there is a little fear of flying in the way that I need a couple before I get on a flight?
Nope, you get a set number of visits per year on the lower priced plan, after that you pay for the visits. There's a more pricy plan that has unlimited access I believe.
Interesting stuff. A couple of questions; are there laws governing the videoing and airing of faces in Russia without waivers or other such permissions and disclaimers? And as for people rushing the bus’s doors... sounds like there are no assigned seats on the plane? If there are, then, yeah, it would drive me nuts, too. With domestic Russian flights, do you have to go through the same security screenings as in countries with FAA mandated regz? And for that matter, what about the usual stuff like seatbacks upright, tray tables stowed, seatbelts buckled, etc....? It’s always interesting to know how other non-western countries deal with these regz and such.
I flew Aeroflot a few times, and only once was I told to put the camera away, but in general they were actually more lax about it than other airlines I have flown with. The only exception is filming or photographing the aircraft from the outside, but I think that is pretty normal everywhere.
. Marc Liljeqvist: Interesting about filming from the outside. Whenever I'm boarding a flight form the tarmac, I almost always take a photo or three, with never a peep out of anyone. Thanks for the reply.
About security screening . Both international and domestic flights passenger are required to pass through millimeter wave body scanner / metal detector ( maybe pat down) and hand luggage will be X-rayed . Same FAA rules for liquids , sharps and etc . Power banks and lighters / matches - ok , but no more 1 per person
I recently flew to Orlando from Gatwick and back (19 hrs ish). The flight was alright and a bit bumpy but my sister and mum didn’t get any food and the breakfast was so bad. Do you get this problem? Also a food review on different airlines would be a great serious idea. Btw it’s was a Boeing 777.
