Love the fluting tool path! Thanks a million for showing how it can be used on something other than a cutting board!
Hi SB. Yeah, this video was off the cuff to help. I'll do a full dive in a couple weeks. Cutting boards are just scratching the surface with fluting.
Thank you, great video. I have seen fluting in Aspire but never knew exactly how to use it. I got a feeling that this will be used in one of my projects very soon.
Hi Jeff. You can get very creative with fluting. I'd love to see a picture of what you create
Yes...Yes...Yes..Carveco maker does have the fluting toolpath...just watched a video on their site...Thank you garrett...helped me tremendously...
EXCELLENT! So glad I could help.
This is THE toolpath I've been wanting to learn how to use! Thanks.
Excellent. You will love working with this one.
Another great addition to my Vcarve training.
Terry, glad I could help! Keep up the good work!
Saw the video today and it was of great help. Thank you Garret!
Hey Juan! How are things going? The fluting toolpath is a great feature that is way underused. Does very cool stuff.
Awesome tutorial Garrett! I never used the fluting function; looking forward to my next design even more now!
Oh boy...once you flute, you'll never go back.
Another great, useful, quality video. You just keep poppin them out.
Never a shortage of things to teach
[Edit: Just noticed someone else previously made this comment. Add my vote to that.] Love your videos. Now I have a riddle for you, Batman! To make this work even better, the square grooves should also be fluted so they are at a high point midway between the flutes you made and drop down to meet those flutes. We want *all* the grooves to drain water downwards :)
Tornadokat, that is a good idea brother! Designing your square grooves like that would be quite the challenge!
good teacher
Thank you my friend. Glad you enjoyed the video.
That was an outstanding feature thank you for the introduction did not know that existed in this program
It kinda opens up the possibilites, doesn't it?
You are correct….AMAZING!!!
Brian, glad you liked this one brother!
What a great video! I will surely tryout the fluting toolpath
Flavian, I'm glad you liked the video. Try it out and let me know how it works for you.
Learn something new again. Thanks
You're welcome Craig!
Very informative, as always!
thank you Larry!
Great video. Thank you for your tips 🙏
Hey Denis. You're welcome. Hope your CNC journey is going well.
Great video Garrett!
Thanks FC!
Great videos. Thank you - these helped me so much.
Earth Home, you're so welcome glad to help!
I've been teaching myself how to use Vcarve with your videos! Rather you're teaching me how to use Vcarve! Thank you
Love your videos! Do you have one on using an oscillating knife?
Pual, glad you like these videos and they help you brother. Sorry but I dont have a video on an oscillating knife yet.
@@IDCWoodcraft I tried using it today, it worked with one piece. But on a full sheet of parts it didn't raise up after each part, it just followed the tool path at finish depth and sliced through my parts! Weird
Great video, Garrett. 90 seconds into it I was opening one of cutting board files that has a pair of juice grooves and changing the flat channels between them to flutes. Thanks for the inspiration. Back to the video now to see if I need to make more changes to my file :-)
Talk about fast action!!!
@@IDCWoodcraft It helped that my cutting board looks a lot like Jeff's soap dish. One of us has clearly made a design mistake.
great content, thanks
Joe, you're welcome, glad you liked it!
a possibly more simple solution that would also deal with drainage in the inner squares aligning correctly with the depth of the drain channels is use something like tinkercad or F360. Both this is a fairly simple easy to make object. Draw the object in 3D, add the drainage in 3D and export the STL. In Vectric import the STL and carve it. This way the drains are all tapered and all at the same level when they cross each other.
Hey 3d, thanks for sharing your tid bit I always appreciate people adding things I miss. I'm glad because other people will see your comment and learn mopre.
Dang...thanks for showing that garrett...that is a easy way to do that..I really appreciate it...I gotta check and c if carveco gas the fluting option...thanks again
YUP
Thanx
You are welcome Ali
that was great lesson. I have vcarve pro 10.5 could you do one on how to get the curve top of a guitar
Fenders...hello! That would be a fun one to do. I ewill put this on the list. How to design an american flag comes next.
@@IDCWoodcraft awsome thanks
Great informative video that keeps your attention. I'm sure your channel is going to grow! How about a thumbs up guy's! He is doing this to help you!
Thanks for the boost, brother!!!
I would love to see how to make a bird house roof with rows of scalloped shingles appear to slope off as if the next layer of shingles is laying on top the next row and so on. Been trying to figure that out.
Totally possible. Requires the use of arrays along with flutes.
could it also be done with a molding tool path? Fluting much easier jut wondering
Hi David. I think so but would be a bit more tedious, for sure
Ready to start doing flies?!
I'm trying to build a pipe stand/ ashtray. Anyone out there cam give me some loungers in using the fluting tool path to create the pocket for the pipe?
K9, a fluting toolpath might be the perfect solution for you on this one. Consider doing that toolpath first before making your pocket for the ashtray itself.
why can't I zoom and grab like you can on your 3d toolpaths screen. I can only rotate it on the x,y,z access point
Hi Nike. I just made a video about this. Here;s the link → ruclips.net/video/RDx6WwrZlnM/видео.html
I can not figure out how to add to tool database, do you have a video?
Hi Robert. Yes I do. Download this video list. You'll find it there → bit.ly/3mLHGfI
@@IDCWoodcraft thank you, problem is it will not load
@@robertwlafferty153 if you're having a technical problem with the software itself, you'll have to talk to Vectric. Unfortunately, I am not affiliated with them, nor do I know the deeper technical operations of the software when it comes to why things aren't working with it.
@@IDCWoodcraft i am not having problems with it, i just do not know how to add bits i have. thank you for your help
Why don't you just taper the block of wood down on all four sides with no flutes?
Rick, I certainly could have done that! That's a great idea brother!
Very cool
Musacman, glad you enjoyed this one brother.
