How To Make ACCURATE Designs, Vectric Design Tutorial, Vcarve, Cut2D, Aspire - CNC Router Projects
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 28 июл 2024
- This videos tutorial teaches you how to create accurate designs for your CNC router projects using the Vectric design software (Vcarve, Aspire, Cut2D) construction line tool. This is good for all versions of Vectric, desktop, and pro.
The construction line tool uses specifically placed lines to use as reference lines to use as vector intersection points. Construction lines are not vectors that will be used in the tool path area. In other words, you cannot use the reference lines to have a tool path follow.
Vectric is not an engineering type design software. However, it does have some engineering functions in it, including construction lines, tangents, and other features.
If you chose Vectric, please use one of the links below. Thank you

You actually can enter numbers with your keyboard to position the guide lines. If you right click on the guide lines, you can position the line to a specific measurement either "absolute" or "relative" to the position your at. Once you have the first guide line, you can create the next line from that line or just create a new line and enter the measurement you want to move it to. You can also orient the guide lines to a specific angle and also lock the guide lines in place to prevent accidentally dragging it after you have paced it.
Buckeye, you're totally right. I just gave it a try and it worked great! Thanks for the tips!
That's a handy tip!
I knew about construction lines, but you explain better for me to understand them
SteveSpears-xg6ze, I'm glad I could help you understand construction lines better! They're really useful for planning out your woodworking projects before getting started. Keep practicing with them and you'll see how much they can improve your accuracy!
Software is so universal these individual videos add context that eventually adds "tricks" or techniques I'd never consider on my own. One man's Intuitive is another man puzzle.
Ron, you are so right on that one my friend. Software can be a bit tricky even for the seasoned pros so I am happy to hear that these tips and tricks are clearing thing up for you.
I new the software had these capabilities, the operator didn’t know how! This will help immensely creating jigs and custom pieces!
Right on my friend! I'm glad it was helpful!
Thanks for breaking down the use of construction lines.
Steven, no problem brother! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Mr Garret you're the best with your kindness and explaining 👌💜💜
masis886, I'm glad to help my friend! Happy cutting!
Thanks for the help. Now I know how to create models to cut out or drill a hole in certain areas
CreativeMistakes, you're welcome! I'm glad I could help you with creating models for cutting and drilling in your woodworking projects. Happy woodworking!
Garrett never disappoints! Education at it's best! This vid got a noob "over the hump" so to speak, of my particular drawing need. Can't thank you enough. Going to be doing a deep dive into "snap" functions when I get to use these drawing lines.
Avoidtheherd, glad you liked this one my friend.
Thank you, Garrett, great video with useful design tips.
If I may add, you can position a grid line (construction line in your terminology) to an exact position by creating the line and right clicking to get the dialogue box. There you can set in the desired exact "absolute" ("relative", if desired) position. Not as efficient as typing in the number in the Create Line / Polyline feature as you demonstrated, but a simple right mouse click away.
Bob, thanks for the tip! Sounds simple enough, I'll give that a try next time!
I'm trying to adjust a line that is already connected. Take a square for example, I want to adjust one side and have vectric calculate any connecting angles.
🤯🤯🤯 Just the video I needed at the moment!!!!!!!
Paramoose, glad to hear it!
Man o man you saved the day!! I learned so much following this. Thank you!
Wilson, glad to hear it brother! Keep learning everything you can.
Thanks Garrett.
Ken, you're welcome! My pleasure!
Garret I personally want to thank you for all your videos. I am just getting into this and I have a background with autoCad and solid works but I was lost when I purchased vCarve pro until I watched many of your videos. Thanks for going into such detail on every option because nobody else on utube has taken the time you do to teach a beginner.
Thanks a ton,
James
James, happy to hear that these videos are bringing you up to speed from the Solidworks world. Vectric is a bit different but once you get it, you will be a master CNCer!
I always wondered what the construction lines might be used for. This video clarified this for m,e.
Edward, I'm glad it clarified those construction lines for you! They're super helpful!
Thanks Garrett! I have been having issues with drawing lines and intersections accurately. Problem is now solved!
Ronald, right on brother! Glad this was helpful for you!

Roger, thanks happy to help!
I had no idea the construction lines were there....thank you.
Gary, happy to help! It took me a little bit to find them at first too! Now I use them all the time!
I like the idea that you can turn the guide lines on/off by clicking the corner box.
Ozguzzi, right! The guide lines are helpful, but I like being able to remove them too!
LEARNING A LOT FROM YOUR VIDEOS, HOWEVER STILL WAITING ON MY LONGMILL 48X30, IM EXCITED TO START USING IT AND YOU HAVE BEEN A BIG HELP

Great stuff and going to DL the tool library for sure
Im glad you liked the video Catio. The tool library will definitely help you for sure.
Wow. Great Tip. Very useful, thanks!!! (noticed if you right-click on a construction line you can reposition to whatever position you want)
wagsman, you are so welcome my friend.
Garrett, helpful video. Once I discovered guidelines I find use them on almost every project. Thanks my friend.
Paul, glad I could help! Those guidelines are my go-to in almost every project too. Keep up the good work my friend!
Hope I remember this when I need it
Steve, it is a good tool to have in your toolbox brother!
Thanks for this Garrett, coming from a construction background and used to reading drawings this sure adds a lot of versatility to how I can create projects.

Tim, I'm glad this was helpful for you!
I have used a single construction line before, but I learned a lot that about using multiple lines. Thanks
user-dy5yu9xp3v, very welcome!
When I use node editing mode and selection mode, snap to guide keeps coming up and makes node editing mode not work. I tried to turn it off.
Another excellent tutorial Garret, thanx! Been trying to figure out a way to draw make presice construction drawings, and this tip was spot on! Keep up your good work, it is very helpful!
Mats, glad it was helpful for you! Those lines have saved me a lot of time in the past too! Keep up the good work!

Very good content. I was looking for something just like this to recreate a drawing.
Butch, glad to hear you found this video then brother. Happy cutting!
Great video. Thanks
You are so welcome my friend.
thank ou very much for your learning, its very helpfull
Michael, it's my pleasure!
You can offset the grid lines (construction lines) by entering a specific value by right clicking on a grid line.
murraymiller9548, that is a great method too brother! I like that.
Garret, great videos. My one suggestion would be that given that there are some elements of this particular video that are no necessarily accurate, (such as, this software does allow for entering in the precise coordinates of the guidelines as well as entering them in without having to drag each one individually simply by right clicking and using offsets) I would recomend either editing in the corrections to the video or removing the video entirely as even though the techniques you show do work, there are much easier ways to do them and it can be confusing to newbies. Just my thoughts. Thanks Garrett for all the great videos.
Gary, I see your perspective brother and thanks for sharing!
Love it didn’t know this
Paul, happy to help those gridlines are the best!
Just getting into cnc programming and this tutorial is a great tool for me to use in the future. Thanks great tutorial. Just subscribed 😊
Steve, welcome aboard brother! I'm glad this one was helpful for you my friend. Happy creating!
thank you it helps
Tom, glad I could help!
Your videos are so informative. I am currently looking into getting a CNC but I find this extremely intimidating. After watching your videos it takes a lot of the fear out of it. Thank you for the great videos
Hey Robert, thanks! I'm glad you've found your way over to the channel! Hopefully I can help make things a little less intimidating and confusing my friend!
so much to take in but im learning everytime I watch your videos. Ill be purchasing your bits about the end of this month awesome information thanks keep it coming I have much more to learn from your videos
Brian, awesome I'm glad the videos have been helpful for you! I'm looking forward to getting those bits out to you and for you to give them a try!
great review, I had forgotten the details of the border ruler and its options. I was lucky I remembered this one had those details. One thing I still keep forgetting where to get the links you keep mentioning its in the comments below. You rock Brother! Finally got to do some projects!
Charlie, happy to hear you got it sorted out brother. Glad to hear this video helped you finally nock out some projects!
Very well presented, mahalo
Dennis, thanks! Mahalo
Yep! This is a two 'cuper' ☕☕. To you from 🌵🌵🌵 country.
Alright...it's time to go get some Arizona coffee and cactus juice
I learned that you can move the drawing as a group after it's finished. I thought that when you started at X=0 Y=0 it was locked to that.
kwikcarl1, Yes, you can definitely move the entire drawing as a group even after it's finished. The X=0 Y=0 starting point is just a reference point and doesn't lock the design in place. Feel free to move and adjust your design as needed!
Enjoy the info
Cecil, I'm glad it was helpful!
You made a very simple process very difficult and cumbersome. Just pull out the line and right click and put in the correct number. To get a new line right click on the line and create a new line parallel to the first and type in the number. Do this vertical and horizontal and your done.
Hi Michael, these are great points! Thanks for sharing, I can tell you're an advanced CNCer and I love seeing your tips and tricks! I'll give this a try on my next project! Keep up the good work!
@@IDCWoodcraftI was a toolmaker all of my working life. I have designed and built many things and have a few US patents.
Right click on the construction lines to position or set angles
Bill, great tip brother! Thanks!
Hi Garrett from Australia. Love your tutorials very helpful and must say probably the most informative I have come across, being a 67yo beginner as I am. I understand the guide lines but can't seems to grab the guide and move. I see the guide move in the side and top ruler but nothing in the work area. Is there some setting I am missing.
Your guidelines might be locked. Right click over the guideline, and check the menu that comes up
That was easy
Iarry, glad it helped!
hi love your videos , im trying to work out how to create a file to curve images of tools in foam for tool box storage , was thinking of photographing each tool then trying to added then as many small carvings , any ideas or a tut on how to acchieve would be great David
ekdave, you can do that brother! When you photograph the tool, put a ruler beside it so you can make sure that the tool is the same length as what you see in v carve. Then just trace the photo and carve it!
Great video :) Do you happen to know if you can lock things into position? Or add dimensional constraints to things so they have an absolute length/position?
mukmusicdairy, thanks brother! This one is a little tricky to walk you through over comments my friend. I recommend joining Kate and I for our weekly live session we host every Wednesday at 8PM EST. We should be able to help walk you through it then!
Yes, no difference between TIF and TIFF. The shorter version was used by MS-DOS because it can only use three letters in its extensions. The same goes for JPG vs. JPEG.
Thanks for clarifying that for me
Actually there is a difference, (well sometimes) A Tiff is a geo-referenced image, used in engineering so it can be placed in the correct place in a map, like a drone survey copied into Google earth
@@PaulMcBreen I just learned something new. Thank you
@@IDCWoodcraft I certainly learned from your video, keep up the good work
great video. Can you help direct me to the PDF list you mentioned. I am a rookie with utube and the comments etc
Hey Charlie, of course no problem brother! Here's the link to the PDF → bit.ly/3mLHGfI.
Hi Garrett, a while ago you had the video explaining the freehand drawing of the Barn, I did that and came up with all open vector errors. I had to break the crossover line to space them away from the crossover. Can you do a follow up with that file to the point of carving it out, thanks in advance.
Marty, I will absolutely add this to my video to do list my friend!
What if you want to change the length of some parts. Could you enter the length in manually and have vcarve automatically adjust the piece? Like using transform on one of the lines and have any connection edges adjust accordingly?
Hi Bob. Yes you can!
can i ask regarding your tool bit library would that be a good starting point for normal end bits that are not your brand
Dafyddgould, that is a tough one brother. All bit companies are different, your best bet is to reach out to them for specific tool databases.
How would I create a curve instead of angle
Colin, I have a video that should really help you. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/EIBlTxfPl1E/видео.html
Hi brother, i have a question.
Can I use a Microsoft note book instead a computer or laptop to download this program?
I just got a one finyty machine
Sorry my friend. I don't know.
Hi Garrett , just tried to download the tool database for vectric aspire , and because I’m on version 9.5 it will not load into the database , can you advise on how to get around this if possible, Tia Dave
Dave, my apologies brother but the database won't work with the 9.5 version of Vectric. You will have the add the bits in manually in this case. Here's a video where I walk you through the process: ruclips.net/video/670Xzgf0LiA/видео.htmlsi=gd2DNqJkFymT7tif
What if the project is longer then your cnc bed?
Stefano, you need to use a method called tiling. Here is a link that should help: ruclips.net/video/nHH99VN4JuI/видео.htmlsi=Lcasz7-QMcPz6lSE

One thing you can add is click on View, there are items on the guide lines as well as right clicking you can add hor. and vert guide lines, angle the guide lines and also point to point ruclips.net/video/SHDykaz670s/видео.html
Hi Harvey. I'm glad you told me that. Dang, there are so many little features. Looks like I;m going to do a second construction lines video thanks to you
I'll Definity watch it. We had a zoom CNC meeting today where I presented the guide Lines. At the end f the meeting 3 people thank me before signing off. That's when I decide to make the video. I have not made a video in over a year.@@IDCWoodcraft

No difference between tif. Tiff.
Thank you. I learned that the three letter designation is based on DOS.
