      I like the node properties move. I think I will remember that one. The others work but I'm going with the one that makes the most sense to me and I can remember.

    I am extremely grateful I found this video, I was struggling trying to adjust the fit on some tab & slot furniture. This makes it quite easy. Probably my new favorite channel.

    Appreciate the tutorial! This software seems to make convoluted stuff easy and simple stuff convoluted... Resizing thing should be such an easy and basic method. I'm used to other CAD programs and you can just modify the size on the line haha

    Really enjoyed the various options demonstrated. I routinely use the cut and join method, but it is nice to have other options when that will be more of a pain. The method for having snap on and then holding mouse key down and putting in value is excellent. I knew there was a way to do it but have never researched it to allow me to make that specific distance move - great tip.

    Another Method. Press F4: The Snapping Options. In the Fixed Nudge Distance, type de distance you want to move the selected nodes. Click OK. Now press Ctrl+Shift and the arrow left, right, up or down, this moves the nodes on the direction that you want, the specific distance.

    Hi Kyle , great video. I have a related question ...is there a "simple" way to change slot widths that are at angle (i.e. not aligned to X or Y axes)? My project means I have to change the width but not the length of a number of mortices to accommodate a different thickness of plywood tabs (tenons) from the original design, but several of the mortices are at varying relative angles. The centrelines of the mortice slots need to stay in their same relative position. I can think of a laborious process using offline trigonometry but I'm sure you'll know a suitable trick. cheers

    Another excellent tip video, Kyle. I don't see me ever using method 4. However, when you entered .125 to move the bottom part of the slot, why did you not enter -.125, since you wanted it to move downwards? thank you

    • @russtaylor4365
      @russtaylor4365 2 года назад

      Because before he typed in the value he moved the cursor "in the direction" that he wanted the vector to move. So he only needed to enter a DISTANCE, not a direction of the move.

  • @cook6052
    @cook6052 Год назад

    So if you wanted to move the slot closer to an edge and add additional slots what technique would you utilize?

    • @ozonobzn4005
      @ozonobzn4005 Год назад

      Press F4: The Snapping Options. In the Fixed Nudge Distance, type de distance you want to move the selected nodes. Click OK. Now press Ctrl+Shift and the arrow left, right, up or down, this moves the nodes on the direction that you want, the specific distance. Create a rectangle the same size as the slot, and place it side by side with the existing slit, type in the Fixed Nudge Distance box the distance you want to move the rectangle that will be the new slot. Once this is done, make the slot a little longer, so that it protrudes from the figure to which you want to make the slot. Now select first the shape and then the rectangle, and apply the Substract command in Edit Objects.

    These are all unsatisfactory. What I want to do is define slot width by a variable. In most cases that variable will be Z - the material thickness. If I alter Z or add some allowance to it, all the slots of width Z will adopt that new width.
