    I remember hearing this speech at the time it was given. It was unlike almost any I’d ever heard. It was certainly better/more effective than most I’d heard. I didn’t know the speaker before I heard this, but I was certain he had a big future ahead of him in the Democratic Party. It wasn’t surprising to see him run for president just a couple of years later. It’s interesting that this is now a standard, and people keep looking for the next “big thing” to come along in a very similar manner. As always, your analysis is appreciated.

      Right! I remember studying this speech and being impressed by his confidence. I was surprised to read that he and his team were VERY nervous for this one - they knocked it out of the park!
