Surly, the big part of owning an adventure bike is insurance that doesn't force you to garage it each night at home location. How can you possibly enjoy exploring further distances with insurance companies stipulating home by 10pm.
Brickbats to Carole Nash, who not only wouldn’t touch it, but had the arrogance to charge me £60 to cancel my policy four a bike I no longer own. Bouquets to Bennett’s who sold a policy for the 1300 on line, no dim witted telesales girl, just £405. I strongly recommend Bennett’s
That’s a fantastic result! I was £700 extra with Bennett’s! I’m hoping it all calms down and I can redo it in a few months! Bennetts definitely seem to be one of the few companies who can help.
I was already paying £500 p.a. as it was valued at over 20k, last accident was in 1984, no convictions since 1978, IAM advanced rider, 69 yrs old and living in the Outer Hebrides. I did an online quote for the same bike, but valued at £19,500 and I could have got it insured for £212 - it’s either a shambles or just plain profiteering!
@@timparish172 Bennetts could not find my new Honda NX500 so they just made up a quote of over £300! my previous bike CB500X which is with Bennetts is £100... for practically the same bike, so yes just taking the piss!
I think this is more common than people let you believe, hence the video as it keeps coming up! Bennetts have been insuring them, it did take me 3 attempts at it to find someone who knew what to do! If they cover it as a r1250gs it allows them to quote albeit they do have a rating on it. I’m hoping the prices drop down in the next months and I can re do the policy at a cheaper rate!
@@Motoscotty hello i got cover today for £700 with mckenzie and hodgeson. They called it a bespoke policy based on my experience. I know £700 is a lot but my renewal was £1260 so result . I have complained to my MP who is looking into ageism
Super helpful video ..best wishes Scotty

Completely agree! What company is stipulating a 10pm home time? I’ve not came across that one before!!
@@Motoscotty bennets have stipulated that on two previous bikes ( not GS)
Compare the market came up with lots of options. Bennets insured mine. £360 with 9 years no claims, garaged, tracker etc
Sounds like it’s getting better and these sites are finding the model now!
Maybe the insurance companies have heard about the starter relay fires ;-)
Been going on since November sadly!
I concur. Having trouble switching my insurance over.
Have you spoke to Bennett’s or is it your current insurer?
Has anyone tried BMW insurance??
I did, they worked out about £1200 which was more expensive! They were one of the very few places able to help!

Bennett’s sorted me out, it was nearly impossible to insure back in December and rather frustrating!
I managed to insure my bike through Bennetts, but they insisted that I had to have a tracker fitted.
Think Bennett’s seem to be the best solution for many just now!
Mine is costing me an extra £60 a year over my R1250GS via Bennets!
