Lovely laura - Klingande - Amazing tune! only God can save our soul
First song if ya having trouble finding it music.ruclips.net/video/wKyk7m-9ZnY/видео.html&si=H7FsBUrRGbxk-6wI
Hey Scotty! Did you need to rotate the handlebars to 10 degrees?
Nope! No need for me to do that at all!
@@Motoscotty Thanks, yeah I also got it in the meantime and installed it already.
Shes brilliant 🎉🙌🙌
I have the lonerider wracks and bags. Nice bags but the fit was garbage. They said the bags were set up for these wracks, but they were a fair bit out
Was this for the r1300 with the supplied rack from Lone Rider?
That song sounds amazing
A classic from world war 1
They're brilliant bags I have them and they're great for my 1250GSA but.. that frame is horrible on the 1300
I think if it was black, it may help blend in with that colour of bike!
@@Motoscotty Yep but they’ve had issues with the black racks with the finish. Lone rider are releasing rackless bags for the gs which will look better.
I have recently received the same bags and i'm very impressed with them. Sadly their GS racks were out of stock when i ordered so i mounted on the Touratech frames. I needed to adjust the fittings on the rear of the bag to suit - but works flawlessly now. My only niggle is the metal clasps take some getting used to and there is definitely a technique to the folding, clipping and clasping to lock. I'm hoping with some use they will become easier (to be fair, I did have a broken thumb at the time after a little run in with a car on my week old bike 🙁) Like you, the flexibility of the space appealed to me especially with bulky items. I also opted for the Motocase which is a fantastic bit of kit and seemed excellent value.
The motorcase is next on my list! Sadly at the time it was out of stock! I found these great for things like sleeping bags, struggle to fit in the aluminium panniers but fine for the flexibility of the motobags!
Well thought out and thorough as always. I'm still going to wait for the new BMW panniers to come out, just in case they fix all the problems. I'd absolutely love it if someone would come out with aluminum top loaders that integrated into the vario case mounts - what I really don't like is putting scaffolding on the bike. In the end, though, I think I'll probably have to go that route. If I do, the Lone Rider bags will be considered.
I found the scaffolding to be really similar to that on a GSA for their aluminium racks! Lone Rider are working on a system that goes with the vario racks, they will be the ones to go for in my opinion!
Just gave you a wee subscribe Roger! Thanks for supporting my channel!
@@Motoscotty Oh wow, thank you so much! Not much happening on my channel until the end of November (when the new bike arrives - shh! ;-)), and I'm still going through the learning curve of how to talk to the camera without sounding cringey, whilst still keeping my wits about me enough to not get squished.
@@Motoscotty The second LR comes out with their waterproof soft cases that'll work in the Vario racks, they can have my money!
nice solution ..must admit i don’t like the idea of the side opening on the vario panniers , they did however look rather neat and great mounting solution . i took my panniers of my 1250 (Bumot hard luggage) as i would get no value in a trade in and just bought new frames for my 1300 ..work very well , but if i was starting out again the lone rider stuff would be on my list
Makes sense to keep them! Must admit, the Motobags have a lot of space and handy for items that are a bit bulkier as they aren’t a solid construction so can move a bit!
Dam copy right
Hi, we have a Wireless Portable Dual Bluetooth Waterproof IP67 Motorcycle Stereo with Intercom, Compass, and Barometer that is perfect for you. How can I contact you?😉
Yes
It’s a brilliant tent, I love mine, however why do most reviewers put their bike in the wrong way round, it needs to lean away from the sleeping area. Scotland is indeed a beautiful country, I will be up there at the side Loch Lomond next month, can’t wait to be back, you are very lucky living there, all the best, Bob
I parked on a hill so though it would be easier to get out that way! Just watch when camping around Loch Lomond, most sites are permit only now (£4.20 approx) and they are patrolled by wardens!
@@Motoscotty many thanks for the heads up, however this time I am staying at a relative’s property on the east side of Loch Lomond, so I am sure they won’t be charging me lol😊
I'd love to go and watch somewhere
She regularly plays in Ibiza!
Tune means a lot to me with Klingange and my late son :(
Great video. Do you have the torque setting for the bolts? Can’t seem to find anywhere.
what the amazing time it was, no wars, no deceases just love and sax in the Ibiza
Hi there, I enjoyed your video. I am looking at a HD 883 iron with sidecar from Billau motorcycles. How was your experience with them, and how do you find riding the sidecar outfit - I was told not to buy a sidecar outfit without a leading link front end. How do you find the handling with the standard fork setup? Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Mark
Hi Mark, I found the experience from them really good, very nice dealers! I don’t ride the bike hard but to be honest, it’s fine! I don’t know how it would be better being honest! Right hand cornering is grand, left hand just slow it down a bit
Ive been there too. Its a great experience
It is! We have booked up for next year already?
Did something happened to the audio of the second song?
yeap. i think this happen because of copyright. there"s a singer in the music.
im old(ish)and maybe my camping days are over , unless they have come up with a comfortable sleeping mattress ?
Gerry, I bought an awesome inflatable mattress from Mountain equipment! Described as “wide and long” which gives you more space to move in, easy to inflate and was really comfy all night! I’ve tried so many different kinds but this is by far the best! Also, I have a portable camp bed that didn’t cost much that would be perfect to squeeze into a pannier!
Looks really stupid hanging over like a shelf. Why didn't they design it to the tank contour?
You can order the adventure version from their website which drops over the tank better. I like the size of this one, the adventure is a decent size bigger
Having used vario panniers for 6 years, I won’t be buying this ill conceived, poorly designed and obviously faulty version when I upgrade to the 1300. The awful design, bike pannier fittings and central locking connections look like they were designed by a GCSE student, who gave up the subject before the exam 😅
I think they are revisiting this, hopefully a new design released shortly! They are expecting to have the new ones out for June 2025
@@MotoscottyFair enough and I’m sure the new version will be much better. I’m going to consider aluminium panniers next time. I hire a Triumph Tiger during a recent tour of Japan and found the aluminium boxes very light, practical and also liked the appearance of them 😊
I fitted Lonerider Motobags and an Overlander topcase to my R1250GSA some years ago after damaging one of the OEM BMW hard cases on a European tour after slightly clipping a stationary truck when filtering. The Motobags are excellent with some caveats. They are very robust and can be made semi rigid with an insert and unlike other soft bags (eg Bumot Xtremada) they are waterproof and can be locked to the pannier frame. On the downside they are not quite as large as the OEM hard cases, at least on the 1250GSA, and they are a PITA to open and close. If/when I do get a 1300GSA, I will certainly transfer the Lonerider bags assuming Lonerider come out with an attachment system which I'm sure they will
They do indeed have a new frame for the 1300! I’ve just got it, fitted it and done a trip with them! Currently editing the video but you can see what they look like on the bike! They are indeed 100% waterproof as I rode through a storm in them!
Get yourself some shad panniers/topbox
Shad made the previous Varios! They should have maybe been used to build the 1300s as well…. I’ve went for the LoneRider set up with the Motobags! I’ll let you know how I get on with them!
I understand BMW are discontinuing the central locking option on these - I don’t believe it is an option on the new GSA for example….
Probably a sensible move! I see one side has an electric mounting point purely for charging your phone!
Road touring/ hotels prefer hard boxes. Part off-road touring/ wild camping prefer Mosko Moto. Drop the bike off-roading (as you will) all energy absorbed by soft luggage no damage done. Drop the bike on tarmac? Time to wake up.
I’ve just had a weekend with the LoneRider Motobags and I was really impressed!
Och nothing new here pertaining to BMW most models have been released with lack of development,I’ll stick to my R1100rs now with 500,000 kms and yes had issues with it too mainly fixed by me. Good luck.
Amazing mileage to have done! All 500km done by you?
So a problem with the panniers as well as rear suspension. Excellent
Just seen the rear suspension, thankfully mine is ok. For now.....
Threaten BMW UK with court action as it is a danger to other road users if they open when riding use the courts if you need to they are based at BMW UK Fleet Hampshire. We are still part of the EU sale of goods so reject the whole bike if less than 2 years old as not fit for purpose use your rights before labour steps in to protect EU company's from prosecution.
I got a full refund from them, the dealer handled it really well! The actual bike is fantastic!
Blame Touratech, but BMW is the one that will get all the hate. I read Shad made the Vario cases and BMW should’ve just had them make the cases for the 1300 also.
I agree, the old vario’s worked well! Touratech have a great reputation as well so it’s rather disappointing they don’t work properly
Is it an alto or tenor saxophone?
alto
Yet another reason to not buy a BMW......as if you didn't have enough already. Absolute shambles of a company at this stage.
To be fair, the bike has been faultless and that’s with 6000 miles on it so far and another 2000 planned in the next fortnight! Sadly the panniers seem to be my only issue!
Also , hard boxes , in my opinion, protect your legs by holding the rear of the bike from your legs , whereas , i’d imagine softies compress .
Definitely pros and cons for each option!
BUT,are they secure against a Stanley knife. It’s NOT the bags thieves want , it’s the contents.
Sounds like another great BMW cockup. They are good at those.
Thankfully a good dealer sorted out a refund, new panniers have arrived from LoneRider which will be getting tested tomorrow!
Side loading is a no go for me . Top loading 💯 all the way
I’m with you on that now! Converted!
I bought the bike so I could take the panniers on and off, and keep the lines clean and not have a cages sitting on the bike to take third party ones on! That’s why I opted for this bike! That’s not to include the issues I continue to have with this bike. Massively disappointed with the bike and Douglas Park Motorrad have been absolutely woeful considering how many bikes I have bought from them over the course of the years, not doing anything to assist
I’m on the west coast of Scotland and I use Tayside motorrad who have been first class through the whole issue. I’ve heard some horror stories which is why Dundee was my chosen dealer!
Reject the whole bike as not fit for purpose we still have the EU laws in place so they must accept or be taken to court, report failures to the DVSA as a dangerous fault if they open on the motorway the contents spilling out could cause an accident, do not put up with BMWs excuses they know about the issue but have made the sale so do not care. BMW UK is in Fleet Hampshire so pay a personal visit.
Get Bumot luggage instead...works brilliantly, simple and well made and you can use them on different bikes,,,just buy a new rack...never buy own brand boxes.
A friend has them on this adventure! I’ve got the Lone Rider Motobags to try, soft luggage but they seem really well built and sturdy! I’ll let you know how I get on!
OMG, wrapping a strap around the pannier is what we had to do with BMW’s in the late 1970’s to keep the bags from falling off do to the latch at the back filling up with road grit and not securing the pannier. Sounds like a case of “back to the future” 🤨.
I guess you can count that as a “tried and tested” method!
Thing is, I don’t want luggage carriers ruining the looks of my bike. Also I’m riding to Bratislava very soon and have no option but to use my vario cases. What I want is a guarantee that They will replace my cases next year even though I have continued to use the old ones. I will find some proper suitable straps in the meantime and that will be at my expense.
My initial problem started when I went to remove the pannier and the locking mechanism snapped inside the case, just watch for that as it’s happened a few times and it locks the key in place and only brute force can remove it sadly!
@@Motoscotty I’m being very careful
Same here, @Scratcher2860 - the vario luggage was very attractive to me because no scaffolding was needed. Fortunately I don't need them that often, so I'll wait until the new bags come out before making a decision on what I'm going to do.
The OLD bags Have a recall for falling off as well so there not an option I loss one and they would not accept that it fall off on its own, but then loads more had the issue and still no refund, or new options moved to softbags instead.
Thankfully that’s not happened to me, that would have been a nightmare!
@@Motoscotty there is a FEMA recall on them
I put mosko motos on touratech racks on mine. Problem solved!
Soft luggage as well! What’s your thoughts so far?
@Motoscotty love them because when empty, they don't protude, and you can expand them a lot to load them up. Also, when moving the bike in the garage, or when getting my leg up to hop on the bike, I don't kick a hard surface! And they look good too! Since the racks are simetric, the bike looks balanced from the rear.
its a shame this pannier debacle is sort of taking the shine of the 1300 ..i took my hard luggage of my 1250 (Bumot ) and transferred it to my 1300 they are great quality..but if i was buying new id perhaps go for the lone rider kit as well .
I have the lone rider kit here, just arrived, will fit and post a review!! The bike is amazing, just a shame about the luggage sadly Gerry
Comment deleted?
I’ve not deleted anything, did you post one?
Will be interesting to hear your thoughts on what top box you go for. I have used SW Motech for years. Great useful video by the way.
Thanks Tim, I appreciate that! It’s amazing how long even editing takes! The top box is one I’ll need to get back to you on once I see what’s out there! I’m quite excited with the Lone Rider range! The adventure weekend I was in last week nearly everyone was on soft luggage and we discussed the pros and cons of each! Once fitted, I’ll get another video done with them on 😀
Stupid question - isn’t the Velorex to light for the Sportster? Used to own a Jawa 350 with a Velorex and even there the sidecar could have been heavier and built a bit stronger (the axle is quite a week point of it…)
It seems to perform absolutely fine for me! It doesn’t do huge mileage and only gets out of the garage if there is someone going to be in it!
Ordered my GS 1300R in Dec 23. I ordered Vario at the same time. Chopped in my old GS 1250 with full Vario luggage (big regret, I would not have done this had I have known). New bike arrived April 24, no Panniers or top box. Dealer has been joke worthy (BMW Warwick). BMW customer service has been contacted over 8 weeks ago, no response to email??? To put this into context a global brand cannot put forward a box to put luggage into, that stays shut, until June 2025....they are turning a once great brand into a joke and a mockery.
I think the are a bit Paul, it’s a bit sad. I don’t think they mean to but it does come across a bit like that. I must admit, my dealer has been fantastic in dealing with this, shame it’s not the same across the dealer network.
I got a spin on the 1300GS at this years ABR Festival, absolutely loved it! Hope you enjoyed your trip to Ireland.
We had a fantastic trip, video still be uploaded! Roads were fantastic, food was good and Guinness even better! The 1300 is a fantastic bike! Just the Panniers!
God she can blow 😊
