I have pretty much the same bike. Last of the 1200’s, GS Exclusive. 60000 miles runs like a Swiss watch. Took it up to the Arctic Ocean and right round Alaska last summer.
Great choice of bike, I really did enjoy mine when I had it. Never missed a beat, extremely comfortable for long days riding as well! That trip sounds fantastic! I have only toured around Europe and would love to go to the States!
As a matter of interest how many miles do you do before giving a review of any bike. Personally I would expect someone to at least own for over a year and have ridden it in all conditions before doing a review, and secondly I am fed up with these people who never find anything wrong with their bikes, which makes suspicion that they are some how subsidised by the dealer etc Thks
I've ridden about 5000 miles on this one through pretty much all conditions apart from snow/ice, the weather protection is pretty decent but the GS adventure would offer better protection being honest. There hasn't been much wrong with mine but common GS issues are well noted (corrosion on cylinder heads being one of them). There has been a recent spring recall on a footpeg for these models as well. I'm not subsidised by any dealers/manufacturers and this is my own personal bike (for now!).
