Hi Kate, been waiting for your review after watching John chasing you around on the launch !! I've ordered the RS SE in Triple Black ( coming next week)which is the best way to get the options at a better price!!! and I am coming from a long term ownership with a number of GS's having down sized last Sept to an XR 900 which while was a great bike did not satisfy my wants !!
Love the RS. It’s the most engaging and fun of the whole range. Beautiful handling and genuine pace. Liked the review, you have a nice relaxed style 👍. I found two things that let the bike down: The seat (bmw seem unable to make a comfortable seat for toffee) and the bar position. The bars put too much stress on lower back, shoulders and arms. They could do with being 30 or 40mm back and 30mm up at least. Many owners fit the helibar kit for that reason. Other than that, it’s my favourite boxer yet.
The billet packs have never looked good on the RS, until the latest generation (triple black) it looks the muts especially the cam covers and wheels, so good I bought one!
I got rid of my 2022 Triumph Speed Twin for a 2022 RS Sport with all the bells and whistles and the complete luggage pack. So this is now the ultimate sport tourer. One turn of the key and off comes the bags and top box and you go from tourer mode to boy/girl racer mode. I've only done 2000klms on her so far but if I had one quibble I don't know what it would be as I haven't found it yet. We don't get the SOS thing here in Australia.
Similar taste in bikes Charles, I had a 2019 Speed Twin, then (via and R9T) ended up with a 2022 RS - which I absolutely love!! I tour with SW Motech more slim line bags as I'm trying to maintain my figure ;)
Great video! First you mention that you are 5 feet 4 inches. So if you had to move the bike around in tight spaces like a parking space, garage or city streets would it be a problem? Also, the bike seems nice on an open road but what about around town. Stopping and starting at lights, stop signs and traffic? You mentioned that you have an R 1250 R right? How is that bike and why did you decide to get that one? Thanks
Ooooo I’ve got one of the triple black 1250 RS as a curtesy bike while my s1000xr has its wiring loom is replaced. It’s not very comfortable bike and the seats abit hard the motor takes some getting used to but when your used to it it’s amazing.

Hi Kate. Great review. I am looking to order mine this week and spec it up. Have you tried the tubular bar version yet? Its one thing i am not sure of, together with the sport seat (extra 20mm height) although it appears that you cant have the heated seats with the sport seat option. I am 6' 3" tall so might benifit from the higher one. I wonder how it would work with the tubular bars? Keep the reviews coming, very informative and fun too!
I haven't tried tubular bars BUT as someone who sold these bikes for 2 years, almost all the long legged folks put the sport seat on it and said it made a significant positive difference to their comfort re leg position 😊
I love those in yellow and blue reminds me of my TS50x I really wanted a TS125x after but then went cb125rs and then a suzuki GS500E, the sensible choice unfortunately. The R1250RS is a very different bike to the V-strom.
Top notch review as always. I would put a bit more trust in you, do to your ownership and your previous employment at a BMW dealership. Well done Kate 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
After three GSs, the last a 1250 GSA, I got tired of the weight and the height, not forgetting the ‘adventure’ marketing. So I moved ‘down’ to a V2S Multistrada, basically a sports tourer on stilts which is great fun to ride. But next time I will definitely try the RS as I do miss the huge torque of a boxer engine and you can now get the higher tubular bars as an option.
@@UsernameKate Yes, it’s quick, light and great handling with a low seat height. Build quality is up to BMW standard but it lacks the grunt of a Beemer twin, better gearbox though but then you change gear more often being a 950.
Driving a RS With tubular bar is very close to a 1250R, you get more leverage and less Weight on the front, but R i a Little bit more agile…..different front suspension rake/trail.

Really interesting. With the dynamic suspension do you know if it’s just rear or is it front and rear (my F900R is just rear) also I hear BMW is currently struggling in getting factory electronics and it’s really tough to get Dynamic options due to parts availability. But maybe that’s just for the F900R and not for all models such as this one. Either way great review and something that seriously needs a test ride as sits above an F900R and below an S1000R power, torque and price wise. Thanks Kate.

Always great reviews Kate… can’t help but feel we are loosing the pure sensation of riding a motorbike… or are we now riding a computer, with all this hicus locus trickery no wonder it’s difficult to feel the road beneath, to feel when to and when not to, to get a feel for the bike under you and the road beneath the tyres. Love the look of this bike and have tried it a few times past few years but 1st time I then went for the R9T since it felt more like a motorbike, had a feel the RS did not give. Then tried the RS again when went shift cam but again lacked the feeling I craved in a motorbike and after a few more trials went for the kwak z900rs…. So what I’m getting at is having all these tricks, toys and gizmos means we are losing the feeling of what riding a motorbike actually is. How can we get that feel when the suspension might smooth out the ride but also takes away that feeling, the brakes almost brake for you, the throttle and rear wheel connection has a brain that is not in your head….etc etc. So although love the look of the RS and most of the new generation of motorbikes but for me they have lost or are losing that sense of what riding is all about. Enjoy the ride people, let’s keep it pure.
Brilliant very informative video, i do like the BMW colour scheme and for what it is £13,400 for a bike like that, though i cant afford it, isnt that bad, seen 900s that cost £15,000, so 1250 for just over £13,000 isnt that bad. Its like having a choice between a new nissan micra or a bike that can hit 60mph in half a second if pushed hard enough.
It is a BMW - nobody has ever seen, far less, bought the £13000 bike. If you want heated grips it will be in some pack with a load of other shite for £3k. They are the only manufacturer that charges extra for different colours.
@terry Nicholson paying for different colours really boiles my piss. Red is free, some metallic piss yellow looks like a bargain at £200 then the dark green metallic or m sport colours are £500. .
This bike seems a bit strange, GXSR blues, Kawasaki face, Kawasaki/ KTM frame looks, under powered, but sold with sports tech. I'm sure it would make a great reliable tourer though. reasonably priced in the market but just lacks grunt for a 1250 and looked hinged on so many styles of competitor bikes.
not just me then! Its crazy because I had the same audio set up on this video as i did with the R and the R video is SO much clearer! It's like the wind deflected right to my face and made the audio worse!
@@TheBez1965 The stock screen is woeful, I basically keep it low and treat it like a naked. The national V Stream I have works for me, but big screen only for touring +I still use earplugs. The best screen ever was on my RT though....
@@UsernameKate I was born with Eco mode right hand and right foot 😜 The fuel. capacity of the RS isnt enough though 😢 When the guage read empty I've done another 40km a couple of times before finding Greece and Italy fuel stations.

Well I’m watching this, (and the bike doesn’t interest me at all). Just nice to watch a Kate review, as she does it very well. The Hornet was more interesting to me, but the engine swap to parallel twin intrigued me…but I guess it is a good, or natural move, by Honda, to keep the price down, and still offer what most Hornet customers look for.
Hi Kate loved your preamble “so guys gals and everyone in between” so very inclusive. I love my R1200 RS Iconic with only one gripe which is the sat nav cradle is too close to the tank and I was hoping BMW would have moved it like on the 1200 GS which I also have, but sadly not. Love your vlogs and long may they continue xx
@UsernameKate it's here! Have 300 miles so far. There are not a lot of these RS bikes for sale. Not sure why. This is bike #40 for me. I also have a 22 Tuono factory which is ungodly fast.
I miss the days when the Beemers I purchased were the model of simplicity, reliability, and fun, which has vanished with all these idiotic "features", that cause endless problems and breakdowns, to the point that most guys and gals I know who've bought their new Beemer's in the last 5-10 years have to put up with constant breakdowns, with the dealers and mechanics spending more time with their bikes than they do... It's like many of my buds who own Harley's, and love them, though their wives not so much, because when their guy goes out for a ride, they get to follow him in the pick up, so when the bike breaks down, they can be there to help scoop it up, and drive it to the shop. Isn't that a joy? Not in my book. In my humble opinion, also, all the "controls" for different things diminishes one's skill set, because instead of growing as a rider in your skills, you're dependent on all the little tricks of technology to make up for a lack of developing the skills you need to have to be a competent and skillful rider. It's too many distractions, and too many things that can and do go wrong, and so, though I love all Beemers, I suggest buying a set of diapers with the new ones, like Cameron's dad in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, so you can just admire your bike in the garage, and rub it with those diapers like one would rub a genie's lamp, wishing for a day when you won't be too afraid to ride it, and it won't go sideways for you. I dream of simpler, more joyful days, before the sickness of "social media", and all the stupid distractions of today's world, when these things weren't infecting people with the mind virus of discontent, like we see everywhere nowadays... Safe riding, when you can. Love the videos, Kate, even with the aforementioned caveats.
It might pop up on your feed but you're clicking on it and feeding your algorithm. And by commenting youtubes rubbing it's hands together thinking YES we KNOW what this chaps interested in! I think there is a button where you can select 'not interested' or 'do not recommend'

How much is a new Nissan micra now ? £17,255 I make it I'd rather have a bike. Over a base model with a 1 litre engine car with no extras
It is a BMW - nobody has ever seen, far less, bought the £13000 bike. If you want heated grips it will be in some pack with a load of other shite for £3k. They are the only manufacturer that charges extra for different colours.
@terry Nicholson paying for different colours really boiles my piss. Red is free, some metallic piss yellow looks like a bargain at £200 then the dark green metallic or m sport colours are £500. .
Is this coronation street?
No, emmerdale
🤩
This bike seems a bit strange, GXSR blues, Kawasaki face, Kawasaki/ KTM frame looks, under powered, but sold with sports tech. I'm sure it would make a great reliable tourer though. reasonably priced in the market but just lacks grunt for a 1250 and looked hinged on so many styles of competitor bikes.
Missed at least a hint of an answer to your title question comparing it to the GS 😊
I know, I'm just experimenting with something I heard about youtube titles. But... it's the GS for me always 🤣
How is the windprotection at high speeds like 120-130 km/h with the screen in high and low position?
I think it's okay! I find it better for my height with the screen low weirdly enough!
@@UsernameKate I find it better with the screen in low , but it’s still not the best
not just me then! Its crazy because I had the same audio set up on this video as i did with the R and the R video is SO much clearer! It's like the wind deflected right to my face and made the audio worse!
@@UsernameKate I’ve tried 3 different screens and they’re all a bit naff , most people on the forum have the same problem
@@TheBez1965 The stock screen is woeful, I basically keep it low and treat it like a naked. The national V Stream I have works for me, but big screen only for touring +I still use earplugs. The best screen ever was on my RT though....
Apart from heated seat and extra grip heat settings instead of 2 it's no difference to what my 2020 model has.
Please don't forget the life changing eco mode 🙏🤭
@@UsernameKate I was born with Eco mode right hand and right foot 😜
The fuel. capacity of the RS isnt enough though 😢
When the guage read empty I've done another 40km a couple of times before finding Greece and Italy fuel stations.
Great reviews and really helpful for decision making on my next bike. Is it worth the extra money for the RS over the R? I'm a fair weather rider, but I'm not sure how much I'd benefit from the extra protection. 👍🙂
The riding position is quite different because of the bars. I think the best thing to do is test ride 2 back to back 😊
Well I’m watching this, (and the bike doesn’t interest me at all). Just nice to watch a Kate review, as she does it very well. The Hornet was more interesting to me, but the engine swap to parallel twin intrigued me…but I guess it is a good, or natural move, by Honda, to keep the price down, and still offer what most Hornet customers look for.
I think I would take a Hornet for half the price, as , it would do 90% of what this beast BWW, will do, for me
And keep the £7k for adventures abroad
Whoever that was riding in front of you needs some instruction...... Terrible lines. All over the place
Wouldn't you just buy an XR1000 if you wanted a BMW touring bike that wasn't a GS?
I don't care for chain maintenance, or the height of the XR.....and well, a GS is not pretty enough 😄
As smooth as a silkworm’s fart
Hi Kate loved your preamble “so guys gals and everyone in between” so very inclusive. I love my R1200 RS Iconic with only one gripe which is the sat nav cradle is too close to the tank and I was hoping BMW would have moved it like on the 1200 GS which I also have, but sadly not. Love your vlogs and long may they continue xx
👍👍🇺🇸
Bejazzeling.....? :-D
Pretty sure she said Vagazell… 😂
I wondered about that word too, just couldn’t spell it to ask a question. 😂
First😉
Just wish someone would take the Germans aside and show them how to add panels and colours
Why??
just bought a new 2023
Nice! When does it arrive?
@UsernameKate it's here! Have 300 miles so far. There are not a lot of these RS bikes for sale. Not sure why. This is bike #40 for me. I also have a 22 Tuono factory which is ungodly fast.
✌️😃👍
Great review! (The chick riding ahead of you is a disaster. Yikes.)
I thought the same. Quite erratic, and absolutely tailgating the rider ahead.
Hey there Kate love your vids for us Americans can you let us know in pounds and not in kilograms and so on thanks Kate your awesome
I heart likes this bike, but my head says Japanese every time 🫣
I dont understand this bike
1300😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
FF sake just enjoy bike’s whatever shape or form
Very rarely have a problem with my beemer, it’s a 1978 r100/7,
What? Had 4 now and other than normal services not had a single issue. Waffle off
🥱
@@phantombigballs8165 Lucky you. You are only one, and there are many more that have had a different experience, or are you unable to understand that?
1250 boxer engine.... has to be fitted to a GS. Nothing else makes sense.
That has got to be the worst looking exhaust ive ever seen
Bit late. Seen all the other reviewers already.
That's fine 😊
They are all a bit slow “up north”, so be kind to Kate😂😅
Don’t be a knob pal!
Kate's made 234 videos. Remind us how many you've made ?
More of the very same, lame & stupefyingly boring bmw bllx. 🙄
Usually if you search for BMW you will find them :) There are lots of other manufacturers featured on my channel if BMW isn't up your street
@@UsernameKate that would be fine only they keep popping up on the feed. i can assure you there’s zero interest in looking for anything bmw offer.
It might pop up on your feed but you're clicking on it and feeding your algorithm. And by commenting youtubes rubbing it's hands together thinking YES we KNOW what this chaps interested in! I think there is a button where you can select 'not interested' or 'do not recommend'
May i know your height?
Great review!
