  • S10 E1 Casco Bay Stripers
June is the time to visit and explore all coastal Maine has to offer. This episode segment features the scenery around Casco Bay, it’s coastal communities and the diverse and healthy fishery that make the area unique. Also, in this segment we’ve included a bonus feature as we head out with a commercial lobster boat to haul some “bugs”. With as many islands as there are days in the year it’s easy to be overwhelmed, that’s why we’ve teamed with local fishermen to target striped bass on their migrating back into New England waters. Using live-mackerel for bait the fishing is red-hot and full of surprises. This episode will give you plenty of information and incentive for planning a trip downeast.

Maine is such an underrated striper state. While I love seeing these bay stripers, I’d love to see you guys head out for the big ones that many overlook.

We had a great shoot a few seasons back with Capt. Peter Whelan and had some much bigger fish. I think Maine is going to only getting better for striped bass fishing as the waters continue to warm.

Could I use an offshore angler spinning rod medium heavy rod rated for 12-20 lb line I think 1/2 to 2oz lure rating and a 4000 size reel spooled with 20lb braid and 20-30lb leader? And for hook sizes for small to medium size bass, blues would I use for live bait? Same for sinkers and hook size for chunking? All for fishing south shore of Long Island and for ct by New London ct on the Thames river?all for this type of rod reel combo might I add(I guess it would be consider light tackle fishing I guess).
