Perfect timing, as I’m trying to learn a second language, primarily Spanish. Not sure if age is a factor being 31, but I feel it’s a necessity as I’m always investing in my mind, especially when I’m not at work. Thanks.
Guess what? You aren't alone. I'm a black American man, 31 years young, and im also taking up spanish as a second language myself. Im learning spanish for the same reason you are learning it. **Just a side note, women who can speak Spanish fluently are so sexy. So I'm learning it to talk to them as well 😏😅
No age isn’t a factor it’s a crutch!Started learning seriously at 58 now at 60 can speak and understand the language effortlessly. I am semi-retired so I work part-time at Home Depot and I spend most of my time being called to interpret between the Spanish speaking contractors and the English speaking cashiers.Theoretically I’m getting paid to practice my Spanish 😄Another thing when driving describe out loud the things you are seeing during your drive this helps you tongue and lips to be in the correct position to properly form the sounds!
Love the video ❤I’m native Spanish speaker and your right but I would just recommend to all of you guys to start speaking when you understand a little bit of the language you’re trying to learn but if you want to start speaking at the beginning, it’s up to you.
I like the idea of reading the comments! I feel good when speaking in Spanish just the little bit I know already but excited to continue growing and becoming fluent as well. Good for you for putting in the work!
i have made significant progress in 6 months....90 percent of the music i listen to is in Spanish...I also read comments and subscribe to Spanish content on RUclips and TikTok and I talk to myself a LOT as well....glad to know I am on the right path
ive came to the conclusion my family friends who are PR and Dominicana talk bad about me at family gatherings so im choosing to learn Spanish and my sisters (half sisters) native language Jamaican and am going on a journey to be fluent in all the languages talked around me (Haitian,Nigerian,Spanish,Jamaican and Brazilian) I am busy with graduating early but you have t do what you have to do to fit in. my native language should be Haitian and something else but my mom tells me that its "unneeded" but continues to speak it to family your tips are helping tons and am so greatful for people like you!!
I gave the muffin to Lily. Ate - verb Muffin - noun/direct object Lily - indirect object Ask: What did you give? The apple Who did you give the apple to? Lily Basically its what the verb was done to: direct object Who the verb was for (who did you give): indirect For you, he broke the plate. Direct: the plate Indirect: you What did he break? The plate Who/Why did he break the plate: for you And then you just do that in spanish, I'm currently learning it as well. Ella abrió la puerta. DO: la puerta IO: None
_congrats I'm so happy for you! so you taught yourself basically? How long did it take you? I'm teaching myself Spanish and I'm currently at intermediate level. Sometimes I make mistakes which discourages me but then I think of the end goal. I really love the language. Also you are absolutely gorgeous!_
@@AWholeLottaLola thank you! Yess I taught myself, I took my time with it too so it was around 3 years. That’s awesome, I’m happy you love the language! Ugh I felt the same way about mistakes, everything will start to flow better once you stop feeling that way. Easier said than done for sure haha but you’ve got this!!
This reminds me of songs that I used to listen to. I'd hear the song, and think, "What in the world did they just sing?" Then, listening again with lyrics, I'd think, "Oh, yeah: of course that's what they were singing." It was the same with this video. 😐
Yo decide aprender español hace cinco años. Me encanta la idioma - eso es la verdad. Sin embargo, va a haber muchas cosas que no te gusta cuando necesite mantener una horario para estudiar. Lol!
@ that is exactly how I felt around the 2 year mark! That plateau feeling sucks lol but you def got this! Soon everything will start making more sense. And thank you so much 😊
@SiheneTVOfficial Thanks. I think that's actually fast. I've been learning casually for a bit over a year now and can mostly only pick up 2 or 3 words and phrases in between sentences at this time. I mean, while I'm still processing the meaning of the phrases and words I heard, a million others get said, so I just keep playing catch up the whole time I'm listening lol. This made me really realise how much we don't actively think about each word said to us in English. We just get the whole sentence without really paying attention to the individual words and phrases constituting it. We just get it with little to no mental effort. To me, understanding what I hear is more important and also more challenging. I feel like being able to speak isn't as hard. Anyway, I most likely just need to put in more time to make a faster progress. Gracias por tu respuesta y los consejos en el vídeo.
I have a question. At what stage did you start to watch vlogs in Spanish. Was it at the beginner level (like high beginner) or was it until you were intermediate? Also how long were these vlogs. I ak asking these questions because right now I am following a similar plan to yours and I uses mostly short videos. Like 5 minutes maximum but these are so hard to find sometimes. Thirdly how did you start to think in the language and by thinking I mean understanding what someone says to you in spanish and responding to their question with well put together sentences without using English. My apologies for all these questions but maybe you can address them in a video. Much love sis ❤
When I was more so intermediate! I always watched videos from day one to learn the pronunciation too. I kept them on the short side as well. If I had to watch a longer video, I watched them in sections until I got a good feel for it. I can def make another part to this video explaining it more in depth, but maybe after a year for me.
Explaining grammar is not one of my strengths haha, there are also some nuances with direct/indirect. Speakspanishfaster has some great videos on this topic as well. Once you have some good examples, I would def create a flashcard set to get used to how they are used

Like how long did it take before you started understanding pretty much everything you heard when you listened?
Maybe between years 1-2 1/2 but that’s only bc I was not very consistent haha. If you are consistent then it will come a lot faster
