  • DMX control of lasers? Not possible... well it has been for a while but never to this extent.... meet ShowNet!
    Laserworld were kind enough to lend us 11 of their DS-1000RGB lasers for this video alongside 2 of our own DS-3000RGB lasers for this video so we thought we'd go a little mad and show you what can be done with some simple DMXing inside our studio!

    hi you can also set multiple zones of strength of the lasers, for example lower part 75% weakened then part 50% part 25% and full on.
    As you can do on the rti neo one

      You can set and save safety areas although it is a little more complex over DMX.
      It would likely be best to go into ShowNet admin tool and set the safety zone in there and save it to the laser unit. This remains even if the unit is being used in DMX.
      You can adjust safety zones, geometry correction, colour correction, sizing, output levels and more which is quite handy.

    • @kentmediagroup

      The two are different things - Avolites is DMX control, ShowNet is network control where you can do much more.
      DMX with avolites just makes it much easier and quicker to get setup

      Ok I understand so I would have to purchase the shownet software ok no problem there my issues is will it be compatible with the laser fixtures I have I have one that looks like the DS 1000rgb but it's a china manufacturer. Is there anyway I can get in touch with someone to talk with so after gathering all the information an knowing it will work I would make the purchase

      @@sadekiebutler2501 you only need ShowNet software if your laser has the ShowNet main board inside or if you have a ShowNet interface which then plugs into an ILDA port.

      Hi Sadekie,
      ShowNet software (and ShowEditor/ShowController) can be downloaded from Laserworld's website. We have it installed on our lighting computer shown in this video to make it easier for us.

    I am hoping to control lasers from an ION XE console... Is this possible? I currently only have chauvet pars and Rouge RX2s patched to the console. And those obviously operate differently than lasers. I know its a pretty vague question... but does anyone know if I will ability (even if limited) to control the lasers?

    • @kentmediagroup
      @kentmediagroup  3 года назад +1

      Any laserworld laser with ShowNet can be controlled via DMX like this, it doesn't matter which console you use as DMX is DMX.
      You may need to create your own fixture profile as there probably isn't one already made for your console, once you have this you'll be able to control them just like we have in the video 👍

    • @Robinlarsson83
      @Robinlarsson83 3 года назад +1

      @@kentmediagroup Except of course for the built in ILDA interface (the ShowNet) in the lasers ;) So the actual lasers are running from ILDA, but no external ILDA cables or interfaces are used here :) It really is a quite nice way to run lasers!
      I'm currently running my Kvant ClubMax 2000 with external ShowNet Pro interfaces, so just run a 50cm ILDA cable from the interface to the laser, not quite as convenient as built in interfaces, but almost :)

    • @kentmediagroup

      I know they aren't using DMX for this.. but I just wonder if DMX can do really stuff like that^
      Tbh, I prefer an artnet, or stream ethernet connection (for lasers) rather then DMX tho 😃🙂
      Also, if you're a Pango, especially Beyond users, I'm sure you will know what I'm talking about 😉👍

    • @kentmediagroup
      @kentmediagroup  3 года назад +2

      @@jhrlasers Yep, that's the beauty of DMX as each laser has it's own address so it can output different looks or the same look that's varied.
      If you think of it as a Zone, you can easily do this with computer software. For us we used fixture groups in Avolites titan to select odd/even and top/bottom, the 3W in the centre was on it's own too. You can also select each fixture individually of course!
      If you were talking about adding more outputs then depending on your software, this should be possible.

    • @jhrlasers
      @jhrlasers 3 года назад

      @@kentmediagroup Ah.. I see
      But well, it's still limited based on the individual fixture internal memory of gobos right ?
      We can't make any change or custom creation tools just based on DMX, (it can, but it would require us to upload and store those cues and files directly to inside the hardware memory before on site rigs to play)
      Which I thought why just don't use another way (software control) to get more sophisticated tools to do more complex stuff and on site live control creation tools as well, aside the limitation of DMX ?..🤔

    • @kentmediagroup
      @kentmediagroup  3 года назад

      @@jhrlasers yes of course you'd need to upload the frame or animation to the unit first just like you'd change a gobo on a standard fixture or upload Media server.
      As standard there's a fair few animations and frames stored but you can easily upload your own with the admin tool.
