    Love to see this! Looks like lights are a really nieche area compared to the other parts of a show, at least on the places i go to. I know a lot of sound engineers, for example, but not a single person that is dedicated to lights this much

    What do you use to control the strip led lighting? Do you have a video you could refer me to that you learned from? I have already picked up all my lighting but been trying to figure out the best way to build out my own control setup for that beauty interactive look on stage. Ideally dmx controllable.

      This is how they all start. Backyard shows, small shows with less than 100 people attending, underground raves, etc. All the VJ’s start somewhere even if it hurts the wallet at first.

      Quickshow has the abilty to do midi mapping. I actually got an Akai APC mini mk2 today, plugged it in and worked with quickshow right away. Didnt have to do a bit of midi mapping.

    Awesome content man. (Sorry a few questions below, this has me really intrigued :) I work in the pyro special effects world and design shows (fireworks) synced along with music tracks. Last few years DMX integration is popping up as a capability of our firing system hardware. I've utilized it a handfull of times with PAR light & moving head synchronization. I'd like to start integrating lasers. I'll pop by your store and give the hardware a look!
    The 1.7 requires a variance from the FDA right? What's the best way (path of least resistance) to obtain your variance for these higher wattage units?
    What kind of internal or external hardware/software interfaces would be nessecary to run Quickshow latched to incoming SMPTE timecode (either from a separate program on the same pc/laptop or external?
    Keep doing your thing man! Really inspiring and really well done!

    • @vox.daemon
      @vox.daemon  Год назад

      Thank you! I appreciate the questions.
      Laser show variances from the FDA are required when operating a laser for a public performance. I would recommend contacting Pangolin Laser Systems to get your variance. It's incredibly simple and they will file everything for you. Make sure to get one asap as the process takes a few months.
      QuickShow is unable to accept timecode, however, Beyond (the next level up from QuickShow) can. If you are taking in smpte timecode from an external source, you will need a reader such as the TC4000.
      If you need equipment, send me an email and I can get you set up!

    • @nickloss2377
      @nickloss2377 Год назад

      @@vox.daemon god everytime I reach out to Pangolin, they just try to upsell me to Beyond. we've got a couple club max lasers controlled through their built in fb4s.. the venue owner didn't even want lasers but his partner bought them and I've had to learn to operate them on my own..Upgrading to Beyond is just not in the cards. Pangolin's support for QS, their online tutorials and customer service is so lacking and insufficient.. if quite obvious their entire business model is aimed at convincing people to upgrade to Beyond even by arbitrarily limiting the functionality of QS.
      in the end, Quick Show is powerful, albeit designed to be unintuitive and with a UI taken from Win95.. I've been experimenting with it's targeting capabilities and popping balloons for fun... which gave me an idea to fill a few balloons with confetti and hang them at specific pretargeted points throughout the venue. would be a cool effect for something like a NYE countdown.
      I've also been looking at semi-transparent screens that could be hung at strategic points.. they're basically transparent to the naked eye, but they provide the laser a physical projection surface for creating mid-air animations .. done correctly you can make pretty convincing holograms.. just as long as you're not using Pangolins pre-made dolphins and kitty cat animations.. so cheesy.
      was looking into getting away with quick show entirely and taking advantage of our lighting consoles effects engine. that might be the better option ..cuz Pangolin is never getting a penny more if I have anything to say about it...
