The amount of detail and sculpting alone put these above and beyond a lot of other toy companies. The articulation needs a little bit of tweaking and remove the pins and these figures are perfect.
Brad! Thank you so much for talking about the shoulder joint! I know it doesnt really matter but everyone calling them butterfly joints annoyed me. Also awesome review. Im for sure getting Aqualad and maybe Black Manta but I also would prefer a more classic version of him.
Solid reviews of all these figures! I'm glad to see an Aquaman wave from McFarlane, back when I properly got into comics New 52 Aquaman was a big one for me. I think for me Aquaman looks like the weakest of the bunch. The look of the silver armor on his torso is a bit cheap looking, the minimal paint really shows the translucency of the plastic, and the shoulder pad seems a bit oversized to me. I also don't love the scales on the torso, at least in size, the comic art design looks better to me where it bends more with the leg texture. The lower half looks fantastic, I guess to me the style of the legs makes it feel like the top half is from a different figure. Not bad by any means, just a bit off in places for me. Aqualad looks solid to me, I'm just not too familiar with or attached to his character. I love Black Manta, top 5 DC villains for me easily, and I like this design for him. Reminds me of his DCAU appearance a bit, but also feels like a good in-between of his comic and live action film design. I'm glad to see he's well articulated, that forward torso crunch especially, however I would prefer a more classic look, or maybe a New 52 version. I do like plenty of his alternate designs, and this one's still clearly the character, but that more classic helmet and streamlined design is just iconic. Ocean Master is a pretty perfect design for me, I don't have as much of a set mental image for him so this look completely works. I guess if a were nitpicking I wish the helmet frilled out a bit more at the sides, but that's not a deal breaker. Currently my McFarlane DC display is purely Batman themed, so I'm not sure if I'll pick these up right away, but I think the villains would be the pickups for me. Ocean Master would be my definitive version for the shelf, and Black Manta whilst not my favorite design for him looks like the best figure out there of that character.
Black Manta is my MVP for the wave and might be in the top 10 for the year. Black Manta looks like an adaption of the Young Justice Design. Ocean Master though isn't slacking. Definitely get this over the Gold Label. Aqualad is solid all around. I think Aquaman is the weakest due to the shoulder guard not being a floating removable part and the hairsculpt. But it's still a strong figure.
oh man, I was semi dozing off watching this and when you bent Ocean Master's knee I thought you broke him! It definitely woke me up! haha Aqualad looks like the star of the wave for me, definitely going to try to get him, I'm 50/50 on the Ocean Master, he looks cool but I dunno if I need him. And I definitely don't need another Aquaman or Manta, happy with the ones I got. I have only seen the Aquaman figure in person at a Walmart so I'm hoping I see Aqualad soon, thanks for doing this review and confirming for me who the star is!
These are really good I have Back Manta and Aqualad found them at the Walmart I work at last week. I haven't gotten the other two yet and they have sold out really really fast.
thank you so much for this very detailed and enjoyable video. As someone who is totally blind and collecting, I have a question for you: is this Aquaman better than the one in the endless winter line? Generally speaking, I don't like to have too many multiple versions of the same character, so if I was looking for a definitive Aquaman, which one should I go with? Thank you.
I mean the 3 of them are alright but the only Aquaman figure that I would get is the Endless Winter version despite not having the short cut and shaven look and I will get Black Manta from this wave though, Overall, Awesome review on these fun figures Brad.
You're right. In the comic that comes with this way, the helmet is definitely drawn bigger. But I can still accept this sculpt even if it is a big small. They are just too freaking cool looking.
i have a couple small problems with this wave. aquaman is somehow the worst which honestly ain’t a bad thing considering how good those others are. but the shoulder piece is just ehh. and Jackson/Aqualad/Kaldur is a hair too small. but still a great wave

😮😢😢😅
This Black Manta looks like the Young Justice look. Love it.
These look really neat!
It certainly looks like a lot of details in the sculpting work on all the action figures.
Will definetely get Manta and King Orm! Thanks for the review Brad.

I missing Aquaman and aquala, by the way nice reviews.

Another awesome review! Those static pics really pop! You doing something different with lighting?
Could you do some of the Kenner swamp thing toy line.. that would be cool.. the Kenner swamp thing line is awesome and I think you would enjoy it too.
I love them all and especially I love the aqualad
19:30 Ocean Master's knee sounds a lot like mine bending 🦵😳😆
Great looking figures. Did you get the Speeding Bullets Batman yet?

The Black Manta is my favorite McFarlane ever thus far
Awesome comparisons and detailed breakdowns as always.

Hey brad have you seen the gold label beast boy or has it not arrived in Canada
Aquaman's calf armor almost looks like two bass swallowing his lower legs!
Brad do you think the DC Essentials black manta's head could fit on McFarlane Toys black manta's body? I want to know before I buy it to make a custom
12:27 I love this wave except for Black Manta's helmet it's kinda small it doesn't looks like there's a head in there.

I'm not sure how much cowhide they get underwater there mister Brad but I'm willing to bet it's some kind of shark or ell lol
Black manta is my favorite
Ok, I just picked up this Aquaman, and I CANNOT get the trident in his hand! Did you have this problem??
I've been waiting on this one Brad💥 this page puncher wave has got to be easily the top wave of 2023
i have a couple small problems with this wave. aquaman is somehow the worst which honestly ain’t a bad thing considering how good those others are. but the shoulder piece is just ehh. and Jackson/Aqualad/Kaldur is a hair too small. but still a great wave
@@the-phanatic-99 I agree with you on auquaman. I think as aesthetics go these figures look awesome
my Aquaman Is A
vintage first appearance with sword I switched his head with with the Whitcher
Cool review Brad, how does Aqualad scale up with the original Nightwing fig 😵💫
Finally!! After several waves, McFarlane realizes the mistakes of the previous series having *identical* comic books within the set!
My Witcher was Tod Mcfarkand
Dope review
I had to choose the Nolan wave over these now I need a mega flash bundle to get the batmobile.
Just gimme the villains 💯
One thing I don’t understand is why does Aquaman have a trigger finger?
I use. the Witcher Head For my Aquaman it wasn't A Tod McFarland
I hope we get Tempest (Garth) and Mera soon.
I want all of them although the Aqua Man is probably my least favorite both in looks and the articulation.
Where can I buy 😂😂
Accecori hand?
Why does Aqualad have on lipstick?😖
Why does Aquaman look like mark hamil lmao
RAD
The orange texture for Aquaman is 🤢 and reminds me of that fear ppl have of holes. The McFarlane Endless Winter orange was better
so complicating To do Customs with u need more McFarland toys to do customs with
Todd>>ML
1:25 thats what she said…
Can't wait to get my hands on these. MTS shows Tuesday arrival, along with Knight fall Catwoman.
I'll maybe buy aqualad and black manta. The squaman figure looks goofy as he'll and ocean master is a easy pass
