I love everything I learn from every one of your videos but in all honesty you could be reading an instruction manual and I’d be here. You have the most calming soothing voice I’ve ever heard
Mary, a couple of your tips - such as to roast bones before making bone broth and to add red wine to the beef bone broth already changed my life ! Now I‘ll try the other ones!
This was awesome. You’re so organized and full of wisdom. I really appreciate the video. Great tips. It also reminds me that a woman’s work is never done! But this organized approach will really help!
Great tips, many of which happen to be Keto friendly! I'm looking forward to making some yummie salad dressing! Your energy is inspirational Mary ❤ (I went to another Dr today, moving along) 😀🙏 thank you again my dear friend! xoxo Anna
Hey Mary I always have my homemade Italian salad dressing in the fridge. I also use it to marinate chicken wings and roast chicken. 🙂have a wonderful day!
@@ruthanndietz7953 in a jar you add olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic powder, black pepper, grano Padano cheese which it’s grated, but you can use Parmesan, a bit of sugar, I use organic sugar, a little of dried basil, and Himalayan pink salt. You can use whatever salt you have but I just use pink salt all the time, it’s better for you. Shake the jar and use what you need.
This was one of my fave videos! Im a professional meal prepper and have my own business but I eat terribly myself. Im also transitioning to running a day home and I’m excited to see how many of these I can implement!!! Thank you!!!! God bless!
I got lazy and made *muesli* instead of granola. Plain oatmeal, along with some leftover seeds (pumpkin seeds/pepitas, flaxseeds), chopped dried fruits, raisins, and nuts I wanted to use up, some cinnamon and other spices, some stevia or raw sugar. No oil needed. No baking. I keep some mixed up in a mason jar and store with the other "breakfast" items (bulk hot cereal, oatmeal, whole grain pancake/waffle mix, "toppings" like raisins & dried cherries or cranberries). Let it sit in milk a few minutes to soften before eating. It tasted more or less like the pricey "Swiss" product my mother used to occasionally splurge on when I was a kid. I loved that one, but it's hard to find now and way too expensive. I suspect it had more sugar in it than I would want as well. My DIY version is healthier and cheaper.
I do also. Mine includes: oats, raisins, cranberries, sliced almonds, shredded coconut, cinnamon and maple syrup. Like you, I make mine on the stove. I can make a large batch that lasts a full week.
I have done that, too! But when I get *really* lazy, or time-constrained, or want to be more "low-cal", I leave out the oil and don't cook it--voila! Muesli! I may add some seeds (pumpkin, flax) and additional chopped nuts and dried fruits, and a touch of stevia or raw sugar. Let it sit in milk for a few minutes and it will soften up before eating.
Thank you for this sweet Mary! I find this very helpful, it keeps me personally from getting so side tracked...especially the cooking of my grains ahead of time😁👍I also try to keep alot of herbs prepped since I don't currently have my own garden...I buy parsley and cilantro in bulk and chop n freeze it, as I use these in almost everything we eat💖
Awesome suggestions! Meal prepping fascinates me but I am horrible at it. You gave a lot of great ideas that I will definitely be doing. Got to re-watch to make notes. Thanks!
Great video again Ma'am. However, I must disagree with you on this one. Surely, and this certainly does occur to me to be true, the best tip... Get married to someone like you 😁😁😁😁. Keep smiling, Peace and Blessings to all
Hi Mary, I wonder how long would homemade broth would last in the fridge? I been saving the water I cook potatoes in and the cken water, use them in soups and stews even when I cook pasta or rice, very rich and flavorful! So how long do I store it and when to throw it out? Thanks for all the tips u share! By the way u were my inspiration for starting my veggie and fruit garden out of store bought!!!! It works!!!!! Finally I started my garden this March won't harvest until July-August but it's looking wonderful! I got potatoes, celery, peppers, garlic, onions and green onions, carrots and a pineapple!!!! And everything is going well, so exciting!!!! Thank you again, God bless! 😇🙏
@@MarysNest Thank you, I'll have to get rid of the old ones then, appreciate letting me know, I wish I could send u pics of my garden but don't know how but it's going well, I'll keep you posted! Lol Have a blessed day! 🤟👍😍
I so wish that you had been my “home-ec” teacher in junior high (1955-ish). Looking back, most of what she/they taught us was bad for us: from white sauce to Chelsea buns. You know of what you speak and are practical and clear. Thank you for all the food knowledge that you share 🙋🏼♀️💕
Very true my home making class was an "F" in the 70s I failed biscuit and poached egg!!!!! hell I ate corn tortilla and 3 minute egg to this day .😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
Hi Mary, great video as always. I do alot of this already. I do need to prepare stuff ahead of time, I run out and then have to stop and do it as I am cooking which slows things down. Now that you inspired me once again I will do some preparing as soon as today. Some things I have never done, such as sourdough starter and believe it or not I have never made homemade granola....that's a shame, I buy it ☹️ I gotta get busy. I love your videos ❤️ if you recognize my name you know I always say it. Keep up the inspiration for others, I'm not sure how many things you can share with us but you never run out of information. Charlotte
Thanks for the great ideas. I have thought about cooking extra meat to help get through several meals instead of cooking each one individually. How funny that you say to make yogurt frequently. I released a cold method instant pot greek yogurt video this week. Same thing with the granola, I don't have any granola videos, but I topped the yogurt with granola. 😀
Thank you for all the kitchen tips and tricks! I was brought up learning about all these ways of making healthier foods. It's important to share everything we know with the ones that don't I'm sure they'd want to try at least some of them as well. ❤
Hello Mary and I give you a 15 on a ten point scale for useful vids on working in the kitchen. I’ve seen many vids on meal prep and none like this. I live with my 88yo mother who was a good cook in her day, however these days it is easy for her to get distracted and burn things. I am taking over the cooking currently and your ideas are just what I need right now. Awesome plan for ingredients and how to use them. Thanks so much for your light in the darkness. GBY and your family. Smiles and hugs.🤗🫂
Oh Mary Alice! Those tongs are fantastic! My dad found them at a store called Tuesday Morning - along with the salad bowl. When my dad was alive, that was his favorite place to shop. It was so cute to watch him get excited about all the bargains he would find! But I think you might be able to find tongs like that in the kitchen aisle at your local grocery store or at a kitchen store - and of course there is always online. Love, Mary
Dear Mary, I just now saw your this video. I have decided to be your next door neighbor. Of course I will definitely come to your home to learn your cooking idea. Love you from India.
I love to chop up bell peppers, celery and onions to freeze. Last week celery was on sale and I bought two stalks. Those two made a whole ziplock gallon bag. When I’m cooking these things just really cut down on time in the kitchen without sacrificing taste. Quick pickles are great! I love the idea of keeping extra sourdough starter. Today I plan to put together some pita dough with mine. And croutons with what’s left of my sourdough bread I made two weeks ago. Thanks so much for the tips, you are singing my song! You have literally hit on every thing that gets a lot of love in my kitchen. Take care and God bless!
As a retired chef, I VERY much love and approve these suggestions. These items make a huge difference to have on hand for meals to make on a whim or when you're exhausted, but want a nutritious meal! 💕
Hi Mary, you know I love you but that fish bone broth in a smoothie...no! I'm with you on the rest. These are wonderful tips. I am loving this video. I've started using my cruets and cut glass pitchers more often. They are pretty and work as well as anything else. I pulled out a cut glass pitcher on Friday to use when my granddaughters were here and one of them said, "Oh. Fancy!" So they will think about using their pretties too. This was a nice video. Such good tips. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Denise! Thank you so much for the glorious apron! Can’t wait to feature it in a video soon! It’s my new favorite and will be wearing it regularly. Glad you liked this video. Love you, Mary❤️🤗❤️ PS...fish bone broth smoothie...lol!!
I have a simple question. I live alone. One large roasted chicken bone in breast . How can I put it together for different recipes . Most vloggers meal plan for big families but not for a single person. Meals for one or two. Or Three meals with one chicken breast. These bone ins are very large. If you have a section for us that would be great. TY
Great idea. I understand completely. My husband and I are empty nesters these days so when I roast a chicken, we eat what we want for the first meal and then I put some leftovers in the fridge for a second meal but if there is still some left over, I will often shred the chicken and put is in the freezer to be ready for me when I want to make a soup or tacos. Then I use the carcass to make bone broth. Love, Mary ❤️🤗❤️
Mary, I wish all RUclipsrs would do what I just saw one do. Instead of I-cards she puts links in her show notes to “videos mentioned in this video.” I find it much more useful. Sometimes when I click an i-card it doesn’t even bring me to the video you or others have mentioned so I have to hunt it down. Also you have to click on it fast enough before it disappears & additionally lose your place in the very vid you’re watching. Just a suggestion to keep in mind. Ty for listening. Love your vids. I learn so much.
I'm thinking of joining. I thought I would find a listing of how to put my storage space in order. I don't see it here. I have lots of stuff just very unorganized. Where is the blog and stuff? See I'm helpless here. Being a truck driver doesn't help. I need to get serious now.
Thanks so much! I subscribed to your channel several months ago and I was pleased to see I have started doing most of the things you mentioned! I made your bone broth and enjoyed a cup of it each morning until it was gone. Will get in the habit of always having it on hand! I have seen videos of people canning bone broth. Is it a safe way to preserve it or does the pressure canning destroy the collagen?
Hi Rlynn, Welcome! So glad you’re here. I generally don’t recommend pressure canning bone broth because it can destroy the gelatin, however, if you want to can some to have on hand for emergencies, that’s fine. It still has nutrition. Love, Mary ❤️🤗❤️
Oh man I wish I would of known that you can freeze bone broth, cause I've been making a lot of it and most of it gets wasted cause its been sitting in the fridge for weeks at a time because I keep forgetting about it. When you freeze the broth and then reheat it to drink it do you think that its benefits are just as strong, or do you think it is less? Also, how do you store it? Can it be stored in a freezer ziplock bag?
Very helpful video Mary. You are always full of such pearly words of wisdom. I watched your video on batter bread and have been making it ever since. My husband prefers it to my old-fashioned homemade bread and he says it is the best bread he has eaten. Great for me because it sure takes a lot less energy and time! Win, win!
This came in perfect timing! I don’t know why I didn’t think of any of these things 😂 I have small children and I feel like I spend my whole day in the kitchen instead of with them. I need to meal prep so I can enjoy them thoroughly!
Thank you so much sweet Mary!! Appreciate your infectious happiness and willingness to share your experiences & expertise. You are precious to give us your time and talents 💗
I use a hard sided cooler to ferment my yogurt in. Set the jars of warm milk with yogurt starter in the cooler and pour in hot water from the tap that will keep it ~100F for 6ish hours. And you video is very timely. My husband was just talking to me last night about streamlining my meals so I can have more time to do things I want, like garden. I pretty much do everything you’ve listed but I’ve been “flying by the seat of my pants” lately and this is a good reminder to purposefully do these things each week again. P.S. fried sourdough starter is probably my kids’ favorite lunch/snack right now. A scoop of starter in a hot pan with a little oil, throw some herbs and or cherry tomatoes on top, flip, cook some more and eat.
Hi Mary!!! Awesome tips, especially since meal prepping is still a struggle for me... I work full time and taking online classes, so what is the best day to prep?? Thanks!
Hi Tashi!! Thanks so much for visiting… Hope you are doing great! I understand completely. I used to work full-time and go to school at night. I know how hectic it can be to try to meal prep. I find weekends are the best. Possibly Saturday afternoon or Sunday evening. We often do a Sunday dinner at home… “Dinner“ being around 2 PM. So it’s not too late. I’ll make a roast chicken, some roasted veggies, some rice, etc. and I’m halfway there with my meal prep with whatever is leftover. Hope you’re doing great! Love, Mary❤️😘❤️
Great tips. We're doing well. Daniel's regular school year ends next weekend. Extended School starts June 7. It's a Summer program for special needs kids he always attends as otherwise he regresses too much during the regular school year. The jiobit is working better than the angelsense. It's smaller, lighter, and the monthly fee is more affordable. Also it''s battery lasts longer and charges faster. Usually it's recharged before I fall asleep. The angelsense would take hours. Plus I only get notifications on the phone from jiobit. The angelsense did the same but also sent emails that weren't needed.
Eleven Great tips, Mary. So happy to be able to go back and reference your wonderful videos when we need a resource for healthy eating. God bless and stay safe, Rob
I made your nutrient dense all purpose seasoning mix and I keep it in a jar by the stove. My whole house loves it and nobody knows it's loaded with spirulina and b12 ;)
Your bread and butter pickles were the second thing I canned and my family’s favorite pickle. Better than any grocery pickles. Used the same brine recipe to can banana peppers, too! Love these tips especially the one about cooking your protein early in the week. However, because of you I may have to buy another freezer! 🥰 Love your videos. Watch them all even if I don’t comment. Thank you for being you!
Hi Joy Louise! LOL!! Too funny - my husband was just saying the same thing. I found him looking at chest freezers at Costco saying...Honey, I think you need this! LOL!! Love, Mary
Hi Mary! I can see you have the book, Through the Kitchen Window sitting on the bakers rack behind you. I have that book too! Is that your seasonal table? That's what it looks like. Your videos are really great. Keep up the good work!
Oh Amy! Thank you so much for the kind words! I love that book and have it out all the time to look at. My baker's rack is packed full with lots of things. I like to have religious art there - some which belonged to my grandmother and my mom as well. I also have a picture of the Catholic priest who married us. It's a nice place for me to glance during the day when I am in the kitchen and helps to remind me to always fill my life with prayer and that our good Lord is watching over me and my family. So glad you're here!! Love, Mary
You've just about got me talked into giving sour dough another try. I spent some time a couple of years ago trying to master it and got discouraged, as my bread turned out hard, heavy, and horrible.....but maybe I'll give it another go. You sure have lots of great skills! God bless.
I understand completely. Sourdough can be challenging. This is a little bit of a cheat but I recommend it to folks who have been discouraged when baking with sourdough...it’s called The Busy Mother’s Sourdough. You can learn more here: ruclips.net/video/2QJuzAL_Osw/видео.html Love, Mary ❤️🤗❤️
Mary, this one is a goody ! I’m watching it twice and taking notes! That makes it so much easier,I just never thought it about that way. Get tips for a very busy life . You have no idea how much time, money, and energy this is going to save me . Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for all the amazing things you teach us!! I implement so many of your teaching s!!😊😊💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🙆🏻♀️ I also love to listen to your voice! It has a soothing, healing quality...it's like bone broth for my soul and mind. ❤❤❤ Also the vids with your husband and son are truely special and wonderful! I feel less lonely!😊😊😊🙃❤
Oh Tina, Thank you so much for the compliment! I love that little area too - we even have a picture of the Catholic priest who married us. And most of the religious art belonged to my grandmother or my mom so it is all very special to me! Love, Mary
Thank you Mary! I have been very busy at work lately and found myself not having enough time to cook dinner after work. This video comes right on time for me.
Thank you Mary! 🌻 I agree with Everything you said.😁 I've been making (among other things) salad dressing for years. I especially like Ranch because it's so versatile. My gramma used to make pickled onions with vinegar, water and a little sugar. I don't like onions.☺️ I'd eat the whole bowl of hers though.💜
Thank you for the tips! I'm in the process of getting back to a Traditional foods kitchen. We aren't exactly fully processed as I've hung on to some of my former Traditional foods ways. Quick convenience was necessary due to several chronic health issues for many years. I'm seeing a light at the end of the tunnel with treatment. I have the ability to get back to the kitchen. Your tips have reminded me that I can make this easier on myself, healthier, too! Thank you, Mary! You are a blessing. God bless you! ❤
Excellent Mary - I didn't think this would help me because I am one(yes, just me) and on a very restrictive diet. But, you surprised me with some good tips. The main one was to keep some cut up veggies so that you do not have to do that for each meal - they are ready to roast or stir fry or soup or whatever. I have a lot of mushrooms in my diet and have been searching for recipes for them, but found that in many dishes, just replace beef with mushrooms and that beets go very well with them. TY
Hi Martha, So glad some of the ideas can help you. I was just thinking about doing a video about mushrooms, so now you have inspired me even more! Love, Mary❤️🤗❤️
I would love to see a series of videos on how you do each of these things. Like, how do you use the sourdough starter in so many things? Is that in the other video mentioned? Also... I used to can jam and I just bought a new Ball book about canning. I’m not sure where to start. What would you recommend doing first? It’s kinda overwhelming. I only have a water bath canner and will start looking for the other one soon. I’ve learned so much from you, Mary.

Gosh, Mary.... thank you for sharing all you’ve learned, and in a simple, doable way. Thank you, thank you.
Hi Robin, Glad it was helpful! Love, Mary
I second this statement as well. I was going to say the exact same thing.
I love everything I learn from every one of your videos but in all honesty you could be reading an instruction manual and I’d be here. You have the most calming soothing voice I’ve ever heard
This sums it up so well!
Every time I watch one of your videos I get so inspired. I want to do it all! Lol. Thank you Mary!❤️

Salad dressing and fermented something!!

Mary, a couple of your tips - such as to roast bones before making bone broth and to add red wine to the beef bone broth already changed my life ! Now I‘ll try the other ones!
Wow! Wonderful!! 🤗🤗🤗
This was awesome. You’re so organized and full of wisdom. I really appreciate the video. Great tips. It also reminds me that a woman’s work is never done! But this organized approach will really help!
Most of these are things I've had to figure out on my own... it's taken 20+ years, but yeah, still nice to be validated.
Great idea!!
What’s your recipe for Italian dressing, please?
Love this idea!! Thanks for sharing!! Love, Mary🤗
I always make homemade granola, I actually do mine on the stovetop. I add dates and walnuts, cinnamon and coconut oil, no added sugars at all.
Sounds delicious!
Wow...thank you!!
@@denasharpe2393 thanks
Mary, you've heard me say this before ~ didn't think its possible you putting out even more great content.. but wrong I was! What a fab video.
Thanks you for the tips really good
Glad you like them!
Awesome suggestions! Meal prepping fascinates me but I am horrible at it. You gave a lot of great ideas that I will definitely be doing. Got to re-watch to make notes. Thanks!
Hi Dorie, Glad it was helpful! Love, Mary
Great video again Ma'am. However, I must disagree with you on this one.
Surely, and this certainly does occur to me to be true, the best tip...
Get married to someone like you 😁😁😁😁.
Keep smiling, Peace and Blessings to all
You are so kind! My husband would agree! :-)
Oh Carmen, I am so happy to hear this!! Broth can stay fresh in your fridge for about a week or so. Love, Mary❤️🤗❤️
Hi Sharon, Wow, thank you! Love, Mary
Charlotte
Oh Charlotte! Thank you so much for sharing all of this and the kind words!! So glad you’re here!! Love, Mary❤️🤗❤️
Mary I love your channel but you might have missed your calling as a school teacher... You would have been awesome! 💕😃
Thank you SO much!! Love, Mary
This way she reaches a wider range of students.
@@katinapactol-baez1317 yes that's true! :)
She IS a teacher!!! To all of us!! I am grateful!
That first tip... "If you cook enough..." 😂 I have 5 kids who love my cooking. If I double or triple a meal, they just eat 2-3x as much. Hehehe.
Love that!
Hi Jim, Great idea!! Look forward to learning from you!! Love, Mary🤗

Okay, I’m just going to say it: I adore you, your smile, your dear laughter, & of course all the wisdom you share with us.
Hi Sheri, Wow, thank you for such kind words! And I am so happy to hear that this video can help you! Love, Mary
Love your tips. Fabulous. Where did you get those wooden salad tongs? I need those,,! Thanks
Love, Mary
When are you writing a cookbook?
Oh Cari!! Hopefully the summer!! Love, Mary❤️🤗❤️
Dear Mary, I just now saw your this video. I have decided to be your next door neighbor. Of course I will definitely come to your home to learn your cooking idea. Love you from India.
Wow I never knew you had so many subscribers! So positive and informative.
Thank you SO much!! Love, Mary❤️🤗❤️
i love bone broth with a spoon of nutritional yeast, beef or chicken doesn't matter.
Great tip!
Broth at breakfast is part of a TRADITIONAL JAPANESE BREAKFAST. 😊 😋
Thanks Mary, you are like a friend 🤗 and i aspire to shop, cook & eat as healthy as I can.
Oh Judy! Thank you so much for the kind words!! So glad you’re here!! Love, Mary❤️😘❤️
You’re so helpful Mary . Thank you
You are so welcome!
@@MarysNest Good idea. I’m trying to not waste these days. But my imagination isn’t what it used to be TY
Thanks, for share. You are loved, by everyone :)
Thank you SO much for the kind words!! Glad you're here!! Love, Mary
Thanks for your prompt reply to my question!
I love ❤️ all what you do

Awesome video
Great video
Win, win!
Great tips
Thank you so much for this video! I am trying to make the switch and you are so encouraging and have a wonderful gift for teaching.
Thank you, you are just a fountain of knowledge!
Love all the wonderful info you share in this video. This will take take kitchen to a whole new level! Thanks, Mary!
Hi Mary I don't use salt could I still ferment foods, and vegetables
Thank you for the tips, I am trying to better organize the weekly meals and these tips are helpful
This came in perfect timing! I don’t know why I didn’t think of any of these things 😂 I have small children and I feel like I spend my whole day in the kitchen instead of with them. I need to meal prep so I can enjoy them thoroughly!
Same here! It's a hard balance to strike.
Get a sturdy bench and some kid-safe knives and have them help! :)
Thank you so much sweet Mary!! Appreciate your infectious happiness and willingness to share your experiences & expertise.

Glad it was helpful!
Hello Mary thanks for sharing your tip's and tricks on prepping seasonings dressings and stocks for future use 👍
Thanks for sharing all your great knowledge with us Mary. Your so sweet.
Hi Emily, YUM!! Fried sourdough sounds amazing!! Love, Mary
I enjoy listening to your melodious voice.
Thank you Mary. Amazing tips. My wife has your bone broth mastered! We enjoy watching & rewatching your videos. 🙏💕💗🙏👏🏼
Wow, thank you!
Hi Jean, Glad to hear you are all doing well. Love, Mary ❤️🤗❤️
You are so amazing! You are so know só much! I am só inspired by you vídeos and motivated by your joy! ❤️👩🏻🍳

I made your nutrient dense all purpose seasoning mix and I keep it in a jar by the stove. My whole house loves it and nobody knows it's loaded with spirulina and b12 ;)
WOW!! Wonderful to hear!! Love, Mary
Love, Mary
Green goddess is so delicious 🤤
Oh yes!

Thank you Mary! 🌻
I agree with Everything you said.😁 I've been making (among other things) salad dressing for years. I especially like Ranch because it's so versatile.
My gramma used to make pickled onions with vinegar, water and a little sugar. I don't like onions.☺️ I'd eat the whole bowl of hers though.💜
Love watching you & ur content, So endearing!
Those tips are gold. ^^
@@MarysNest That would be great!
Inspiring! Thank you Mary.
