      What a great time to learn! I was about 24 when a nurse who conducted some mothering meetings that I attended first introduced me to the concept of health foods and healthy foods and it has stayed with me my whole life. I've had periods where I slipped but in the past few years I have Amped up my game and Mary has helped me a lot with that.

    Thank you for solving my "I don't want to clean the blender every day" issue! Perfect. For the green smoothie, I added a small amount of unsweetened applesauce for some extra sweet, and a dollop of squeezable ginger for brightness. My new fave! Thank you Mary!

    Mary I love your channel. I pick and flash parboil my organic kale. Then I freeze it on cookie sheets and then pack in the freezer bags. Then I can crush the kale in the bags and they take less room in the freezer.

    When I freeze my bone broth, or any liquid in a mason jar, I do leave the lid loose until it is frozen, then I tighten the lids and I've never had any breakage.

      Thank you for your knowledge regarding freezing foods. I was always ambivalent about freezing innards. You give me inspiration to try to freeze in jars & I 'll use your trick about the freezing fo OP d in jars.

      Cindy Ward -- or... U can freeze in quart or reusable bags - flat and then stand them up in a container for easy, pre-measured use. I haven't gotten that far...🙄 for me yet.

    Straw tip: If you have an Asian market or boba tea place near you, they probably have those super wide straws they use for drinking the boba. They're wider than milkshake straws because the boba balls have to get up the straw easier.

    HEY Mary big hugs, I'm in Australia, Queensland, Gold Coast and Omg! I just found you a week ago scrolling for bone broth and you are AMAZING with your tips and tricks and your personality shines. My only wish is for ingredients and heating be degrees/Celsius and cups also.... We don't have Pints or Fahrenheit in Australia. I've left many sites and groups as I don't have the time to convert all the time. I just watched Tips on Bone broth and you converted to us in Celsius ~ which was Fantastic, as I wrote it down in my notes. KEEP SMILING and Oh!     I've already had in my pantry the items necessary, but just couldn't put it together,even though I'm a organized person. I've printed out 10+ blank pages and kept the filled in page for each day to show what I've had previously. So far, here's what I've mainly used: Greek Yogurt, Frozen wWman's three berries (Black, Rasberry&Blueberries; Coconut Oil, Chia, Flax and or Psyllium Husks; Powders of Pomegranate and Amla. Now we are into it every day, thanks to you, Sweet Mary. BTW, we've been making your Bread receipes, and love to make them with Einkorn and Kamut flours which work for us, thanks to you again. Cudo's!! Our appreciation. Dee

    Hi, Mary! Didn't realize you could freeze greens like that - such an awesome tip, thank you! I don't eat a ton of fruit, so I add ~tablespoon of organic blackstrap molasses to any smoothie as it's high in iron and adds a tasty sweetness. I'll also add hemp seeds (sometimes called hemp hearts) - more protein, omegas and iron than chia or flax :) Blessings to you!

    A very ill friend often doesn't have an appetite, I don't tell him what's in the smoothies 😉😉😉
    I have to disguise greens, which he needs. Blueberries help ~ any other suggestions? He has an emotional aversion to green drinks.

      Hi Michele, You are such a great friend. I understand completely about the aversion to green smoothies. I find adding some citrus can really help. Maybe the greens along with an orange. And banana and dates can always make the green smoothies a sweet treat especially for those who are ill and may have impaired taste buds. Plus, I often add grapes and honeydew to green smoothies because they always add a nice flavor and a bit of sweetness to over come the bitter taste of the greens. Hope this helps.     Really watch the spinach. I love it, but I added it to all of my smoothies and ended up with a kidney stone. As you say, don't do it every day. I had a kidney stone 35 years ago, and had never had another one until about 2 years ago.

      Hi Terry, Yes indeed. All those oxalates. Definitely best avoided - or at least steamed before using to try to reduce some of the oxalates - and even then best limited to only a few times per year, if that. Love, Mary

      Lightly steam them, and I've read you should switch your greens up often. So maybe one week do spinach, one week do collard greens, chard, kale, or romaine lettuce.

    Hey Mary love the smoothies. The green smoothie I make I have been using my kale from the garden, I use apple and banana in them. I’m actually gonna try to freeze most of my vegetables. Looks easier to blend. I know you were talking about coconut oil but I usually add coconut milk to my fruit smoothies. I hope it’s just as good.

    PS: In case people don't know, flax oil isn't very stable and can go bad easily - that's why flax seed oil is refrigerated in health food stores. So you want to buy flax seeds in vacuum-sealed bags, then refrigerate or freeze after opening. Don't buy flax seeds from a bulk bin or in non-air-tight bags because they've been exposed to air and heat = not as nutritious.

    Thanks for sharing. I'm not a big smoothie fan though. I prefer smoothie bowls which have more texture to them. We're doing well. Lee and Daniel dropped by to check something. Daniel wants to play GarageBand but unfortunately Amazon doesn't have that version on it and he somehow messed up the screen to his borrowed school iPad that does have it. On Monday I'll contact the school board technology department to see if it can be fixed and how much it will cost.

    don't use too much psylium husks. I used a heaped table spoon and it caused my smoothie to seize up and turn to jello!

      try fast-forwarding to the end and then go back and replay. Sometimes that makes the ads go away. Not always but it's worth a try.

    I know from personal experience that when a person mixes fats with fruits, the liver begins dumping triglycerides into the system. So, what I have done I have tested my blood lipids before consuming fruits with oil and on a separate day mixed both. My triglycerides went up over 100 points when I mixed fruits/oils. I have repeated and the pattern persisted. So check your lipids if you decide to mix both of these food groups.
    Additionally, mixing dairy, and cheese with fruits is even worth it because fruits are fast carbs, but adding proteins, and cheese slow digestion even more and make fruits ferment in your stomach. It is not a good mix for good digestion. By the way, I a healthy middle-aged man.

    If you make a brown or gray smoothie just put it in an opaque glass, LOL. As long as it tastes good you won't care.
    have you ever talked about black seed oil in any of your videos? It seems to be very highly thought of in the healthy places that I shop. At first I didn't care for the flavor but I started sprinkling black seeds on a lot of the foods that I ate and didn't realize it but I got used to the flavor so that when I tried the black seed oil the next time I liked it just fine.

    Hi Mrs. Mary. I have been unsuccessful at finding a way to incorporate my collagen with peptides into my smoothis because it cakes up. It generally does better in a warm liquid. Do you have any personal experience/advice on how I can use it in a smoothie? God Bless!

      You could dissolve it in a little warm water before you add it to the blender. Just add a couple extra ice cubes. :)

      Hi Nicole, I generally just use bone broth. If you want to add extra collagen, you might want to try dissolving it in some warm liquid, then let it cool to room temp, and then use it as the base for liquid in your smoothie. Love, Mary
