    Who said these sprint workouts can't be used to help middle to long distance running?? I believe this workout is going to be an asset for them.

      They can be used by runners of all distances of course. The faster an athlete is and the better they run the better the athlete they will be of course. Thanks for the comment.

    I need some help with arm drills to make sure they dont revert back to their old ways. When stationary I can get them to do their arm movesments perfectly. As soon as full speed or sprinting. Arms are cross sagital plain!

    Hi sir, I wanted to know the books you've read or courses that you've done to become the coach you are today. I'm pursuing coaching in Athletics and would deeply appreciate it if you could recommend some books or courses for the same. As always, loved the video, thank you for all the practical information.

      Sorry for the delay in responding.... I get asked this question quite a few times, so maybe I will make a video on this subject.
      To keep it short-ish! I have taught myself much of what I know. The courses that are on offer at least in the UK, don't really go much beyond the basics. And, now what with all the H&S and child protection legislation, much information taught is about that - at least on the intro courses.
      I am lucky in that I have spent over half my life also writing and making videos about sport, health and exercise, so I picked up much knowledge along the way.
      I will make a shameful plug first, why don't you consider becoming a Coach-Athlete channel member?
      In this section of the channel you will find over 30 specific videos, which go into more detail than the main channel and are aimed more specifically at coaches. Subjects covered include training planning, how to periodise and what periodisation method should you use, how to peak an athlete and so on. This is the type of information I am continually asked about and through my chats with coaches discover that this is what coaches want to learn more of.

      Another thing I would recommend is finding a coach to shadow and learn from a mentor.
      It's a lot quicker than reading books. I have had coaches comes over and pick my brains!
      Of course you need a foundation of knowledge ... there aren't many books that encapsulate this track & field wise.

    Could you please explain that how to keep your arms while getting out of the blocks..because thats when you apply the max force ,my arms tightens very much during that phase...please help

      Swing your arms long for the first 3 steps - using little bend at the elbows. Doing this will enable you to clear more distance on those crucial first steps.
      Then bend the elbows as you pass those 3-4 steps...
      you can practise your arm action standing or in a lunge position focussing on relaxation at speed. Keep your shoulders depressed (down) and ‘see’ your hands at eye-level and have the rear arm more or less parallel with the ground on the back swing. Hope this helps

    2:44 straight or forward lean is better here? Or to be performed both ways?

      If you are referring to the standing arm sprint on one leg, the body would need to be upright. If you did this in a lunge position you could incline the trunk and make it slightly more relevant to acceleration. You could also transition from lunge to upright over a few seconds for another version. Hope this helps.

    Bro!Can you tell me how many hours a beginner sprenter should train in a week ?

      You’re probably looking at 3-4 sessions a week with each being about an hour-hour-30. One sessions of start and accel work, followed by weights
      One-two sessions of max velocity work i.e. fly 20m/30m/40m
      And one-two sprint endurance sessions - longer distances at 80-95% speed e.g. 4 x 120m (longer if you run 200m). One of these sessions should have a weights sessions added. Plyos and lots of specific drills should feature in all sessions. Hope this helps
      Note I’m assuming here that you are reasonably conditioned and are used to sprinting. If not then you may need to speed a month or so building up specific strength to be able to handle the intensities and minimise injury.

    I want to be a running coach for fast bowlers in Trinidad and Tobago can these drills assist them running better?.Fast bowlers suffer a lot of injuries due to bad running mechanics if i can fix that together with a proper conditioning program the performances will bear fruit.

      Yes, many of the drills in the "Sprint Drill Playlist" will be of use to fast bowlers. There are a number of similarities with fast bowling and long jump, for example. One is the need to set up the jump or the delivery as the case may be and another the eccentric braking forces required on the take-off and on the delivery stride front leg respectively.
      I suggest you also take a look at some of the plyometric videos too. Good luck and I hope that you'll soon be conditioning some "quicks". Thanks for passing by.

    The truth is people still beat about the bush. The truth is ,with all isotonic machines, no one has invented one that fits well for training in sprint. So we assist again a such drills, and other eccentric exercises as dragging a weight,running with a parachute,and other bs. We still have, by a side, athletes performing a motion but cannot explain, coaches/instructors (try to) explain but cannot perform . We could instead to set some specific questions. For example: how much is the impact force during a fast running? when starts and ends the concentric phase in the leg forward ?

      Not sure if the athlete needs to know physics to that extent. Agree that the coach should know. Modelling a movement is useful and I think videoing an athlete. If someone asked me those questions as an athlete, I think my eyes would glaze over TBH.

      @@BondeyeView the thing is very simple. For example let s take a muscle as biceps . After progressive training (ie curl ) the Force is higher and the Force and speed even. If you exercise without weight ,you will see the execution speed will be faster. Now if we analyze the problem in the sprint ,the athlete is running without overweight, so that to know the ideal weight to be lifted during the training (so that athletes can obtain that speed) ,we Just need to know the impact force.
