    Hey all, just some further comments to the video. You might notice that there doesn't seem to be THAT much difference between the ram speeds during the comparison. Actually the more accurate way to do this is to use MSI Afterburner and create a log file of the average framerate. I probably should have done that, but I'd already recorded the footage for the 2400 speed ram a couple of weeks ago, and I'd have to go back and redo it all. So my comments on the framerates are mostly subjective based on my time testing the games. I think the other thing is, there are many games where the ram doesn't make it in any way meaningfully faster and when I picked the games, I chose the ones that were below 60fps to see if they would have any improvement. Lastly, the Win600 by default throttles back down to 12W after a few minutes. My comments are mostly based on after it reaches 12W. It's possible that its not going to be any faster if its only operating at 12W, that said MSI Afterburner does show that the ram is at 1600 in some games. All in all, there were a few games that showed some improvement, around 10%.

    Hi, you have to set the VRAM to 4 GB in order to get more performance, also you have to set the RAM Speed to 1600 Mhz on BIOS

    Does swapping this out mess with the content already on the device? Do you have to do a fresh install of windows after you change them? Is the storage wiped afterwards?

    Win600 is good for retro games, old pc games and indie games.

    Si i can’t put a 16gb ram DDR4 3600mhz? The limit is 3200mhz?

    the actual fps doesn't really change much between the 2 ram modules but the frame times are better. consistency of frame timing is far more impactful to see an improvement in gameplay

    • @JimRPG
      @JimRPG  Год назад +1

      Yeah so its not as straight forward as I initially thought. Firstly there's really just 400mhz difference between the two modules because its single channel. It depends if the game utilises that extra bandwidth. Also some of the games were a bit difficult to benchmark, I didn't do exactly the same run on both just because I was playing around on them. And the biggest issue I should have recorded a log file of the framerates (but i didn't think of it until I started testing the 3200 ram and the 2400 was already recorded).
      Good spot on the frame times. I will say playing through 15-20 mins on some games there is that 10% performance difference. But sometimes its not noticeable if its 3-5fps difference in a 20 second clip. In short - the video footage didn't turn out that great, but I wanted to report the findings from my test anyway.

      @@JimRPG still an important video because i hear a lot of whining in the community about having to buy the 3200 ram module to get a better experience but the reality is even if u do spend the extra money u won't get a definitive and substantial boost in overall performance. I'd say if you're tight on money the upgraded ram isn't necessarily worth it

      @@ginyu4665 Yep exactly - like if you buy the Win600 for indie game you wouldn't need it either. Its really only for specific games if you find them that gives them a boost.

    The win600 can take a 32gb ram stick and with the tdp wattage set at 10w standard and 18w max and dedicate 8gb to video it'll run very smoothly

    I dunno bout this product, man. Upgrade an already expensive and underpowered device to get a very very small gain in performance. Have you seen RGC video on Castor? I'm loving this! Streaming all my pc games to my Odin and they're all in high to ultra quality and I don't have to kill my battery to boot! I love it.
    If we're primarily going to be gaming at home, I see little need for these X86 devices and when out and about, you always gotta mind where you can charge, with the Odin I get the best of both worlds.
    I dunno man... Anbernic really dropped the ball on this one, they couldn't even put an SD card reader in there, like wtf kind of logic is that? Take $150 off, then it would be more tempting.

    • @JimRPG
      @JimRPG  Год назад +1

      Yeah I wouldn't do this upgrade for anymore than $20-30, because at times its marginal. But it is a little better.
      I'll have to try Castor - I haven't had time to go back to Odin or try anything yet. Sounds good though. I agree streaming is getting better. I just tried Xbox Gamepass streaming, the stream wasn't that good, but playing Halo Infinite via cloud and don't have to install 100GB, was pretty crazy!
      I also agree these x86 devices are a huge battery hog, however I see the value if they're running 5-10W then you get like 3-4 hrs of play time.

      Yeah I think the 3050e is a little overpriced, but the 3020e is $300 and is at least in a better 'position' in terms of pricing. However I dont have the 3020e so I can't really recommend it if I don't have it on hand to test, but my gut says for most indie titles it'll probably be just as good as the 3050e.

  • @apmanti12

    it's not really worth it, you will gain 1-2 fps if any. this device is more geared to batocera and retro games rather than big pc games.
