200 Series Toyota Land Cruiser - How to Remove the Third Row Seats

- Until the Heritage Edition was introduced in 2020 as a five-passenger model, every single 200 Series Land Cruiser sold in the United States has come standard with third row jump seats that fold up into the sides of the cargo area. Now that these vehicles are gaining popularity as adventure rigs, it's becoming more and more common to remove this bulky third row in order to re-gain some cargo space. Unlike on the 100 Series Land Cruiser, which had a quick-release third row, the rear jump seats in the 200 come bolted directly into the cargo floor, making them a little bit of a pain to remove, especially when compared to the 100. It isn't too bad though, and in this video I show you exactly how to do it, and what simple tools you need.

The 200 3rd row seat design isn't due to cost cutting. Australian Design Rules and similar laws in other countries no longer accept quick release style seats, so the change had to be made.
Not true. But to go on make up stories
@@sirleonard1 Umm, respectfully, why would I want to say it unless it was true? Odd response.
So I removed the third row seats. Thanks to your sacrifice I learned from your mistake and I didn't break anything. Thanks, man!
Nice one Chris. Very helpful and easy to follow.
Thanks Chris. Very helpful!
Nice to have the LC drop a little weight removing those. Maybe save a small margine of gas doing so
Thank you buddy, so helpful to have a visual rundown before attempting the same on my 200 series, so grateful for this!
Great video to show the mount points. I'm about to pull the seats out of our LX570 to redo all the leather and this was a great reference!
Oof, an LX570 that needs to have its leather re-done? Must've taken a beating! Its hard to beat Toyota/Lexus OEM...
@@ChrisONeillUSA I maintain it religiously like all of my vehicles. The leather isn't really all that bad. But it's at 203k miles now. Other folks on the land cruiser forums said it looks fine and to leave it alone, but I guess I just can't help myself to do more projects. The new leather came in this weekend, going to be tackling it bit by bit over the next couple weeks. And love your videos! Great work!
Loving my new 08. Haven’t been able to part with my 04 yet. I’ve fixed all the broken bits. And spend weeks cleaning the carpet using very RUclips hack out there. With 266K, some things are permanent. The more I drive the 08, the more I enjoy driving the 04. Leaves me wondering if I should hunt down a clean 07… and sell the other two.
Fits perfectly rear-facing in our truck, which has a slightly smaller back seats. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx6_FKRYB2ClSPRyjcd8HptiCS3EiQoNX4 Feels as comfy and plush as our Graco Contender carseat.
Thanks for posting I always enjoy your videos. I also own a 200 series and I’m considering removing the third row seats. I would have a shop do it. Question I bought the heritage cargo mat to cover up the holes. Apart from the open holes which I have covered is there anything else that will look sloppy? Meaning after you remove the third row are the open holes the only thing that people need to deal with?
Thank you in advance
There is a company that converts the holes to tie down points. Forgot their name but saw their video on RUclips
@2:55 - Nothing is cheap when it comes to Land Cruiser 😃
Thanks for the video. I was looking at the trim pieces, covering the bolts, the other day wondering how to remove them, so thanks for showing how. I would like to fill in
that gap over the bolts with something, not sure what, anyway thanks again.
I had the Toyota dealer order me the black rubber mat that goes in the LC Heritage Edition with the third row delete. Everything gets covered up underneath it.
you could always 3D print something.....
@@ThUnDaHuNtA_Australia good idea, thanks Richard
@@jasondortch2313 perfect. thanks
Did you have any problems with the 3rd row middle seat belt? That is my issue, thanks.
I added them back in... But now I can't unlatched them from the side of the trunk... Any clue?
Thankyou
Im assuming its the same for an LX570, even thou it has electric fold etc switches on the side panel.
Likely with at least one wiring harness to unclip, per side.
Did you ever take out the seat belts in the third row?
No. They don't bother me and I'm afraid to break the 15 year-old plastic trim pieces 😬.
Thanks and sorry your trim piece busted!
leave the seat belts. I know how it feels when trim gets broken. Word of advice. DO NOT REMOVE THE DOME CENTER CONSOL. the plastic used there is so brittle it broke to so many pieces I had to use JB weld and now it looks like crap. I am not going to replace it because I don't really care.
Can I like buy them from you haha?
How about instructions on removing 3rd headrests???
Shit to dark
You can still see what he’s doing can’t you? I certainly can!
This car is garbage.
This is a joke , right? If it is not, you dont know crap about Landcruisers
