This is the best version of this type of video I've seen in a while! MORE PLEASE!
Portra 400, Fujifilm and Final Fantasy music.
Great video!
It's really cool to see someone from a town over sharing photos. All your videos are a game of "hey, that looks familiar!"
IMO I feel the warmth of a film photograph only from the real porta 400.
More of these- fun to watch and interesting to compare- once you get into the difference of sensors/lens combo's and the 'feels' it could get pretty deep (and dope). Personally, the film shots had more clarity to them and I loved the saturation. Awesome vid Lou.
Thanks so much!! I have a few more Film Fights in mind (one is basically shot, I just have to develop the film!) And I want to explore the whole film recipe/film emulation thing more. Obviously, I don't think it'll replace the feeling film gives me (process and all that jazz lol) Glad you dig what I'm doing though!!
Loved this. Only real way to do it is to use a focal quivelant on the film cam such as if you use a 50 on xt4 use a 75 on Pentax to give same field of view. Or use a 35 on xt4 will give you 52mm which is closer to the 50 on the Pentax I, gonna try myself. I have done shots on a full fr,ame that could pass for med format. But I do not believe in the in cam recipes. Takes away from learning and manipulating light
i love the look of the fuji's!!! i actually really like the warmth personally
Excellent video! Being a person that shoots both digital and film, I do like to see the comparisons. Fuji is great for their sims, I use mostly all Pentax digital, but have in post worked on emulating certain film looks. As you said the most important thing is getting out and just enjoying photography!
This music is SENDING ME
hahahaha glad you dig it, we've been watching One Piece in the apartment lately, so I had to do the outro like that hahaha
@@SweetLouPhotography Between that and the Final Fantasy 7 music, my goodness
@@TheMattinee I really had a hard time choosing between the 7 or 9 fight theme lol. I looooove 9's fight theme, but it felt too chaotic behind my VO
I probably dig most of the film images a little more, but not by much. Definitely something to be said for not having to screw with scanning and editing with those Fuji presets though.
01:33 - I also tried to screw around with the Porntra 69 settings profile, but for some reason it replaced my flash bulb with a UV light.
hahahahahahahahahahahah
nice comparison, for me I prefer the digital photos since it has more detail in the shadow (main advantage of digital ofc).
Can you post a photoshoot/vlog, I think it would be really awesome seeing you use your skills
I think that could be arranged ;) tysm!!
I actually liked the warmer tones of the xr4 recipe better tbh. But I also prefer the look of Gold as opposed to Portra.
Epic video man. Nice.
Just curious tho if you had to break apart your vintage Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots ring for the intro?
I like to colors of the film more
Interesting video. The X-T4 images seemed to be warmer and a bit more saturated than film. But they were pretty close in most cases.
I definitely see what you're saying about the modern lens making everything optically perfect. That's what stood out to me between the two, and it's also something that has next to nothing to do with the recording medium 😂
Yeah!! Once I really started editing this video, I realize I had fucked up lol
I think that the look of film can be very random sometimes and it's really hard to integrate that into digital settings. Considering I'm broke, digital could be better for me in the long run
Def, and with these price increases, the film emulation thing seems far more enticing haha
Awsome I like this.
That's wild! The actual film images kinda look like digital photos with a film effect added.. now my whole world is turned upside down.
OH YOU
I've found myself constantly thinking about White Balance lately. If film has a set white balance, how much of the warmth/coolness can be swayed in the scan and edit? Can we emulate that exact white balance with digital files? In terms of matching look, WB is the biggest I think.
I want to break down the variables that separate digital and film. We can see that film has generally high contrast - a tone curve could help the digital match this. Higher dynamic range - Fuji has a feature that lets you boost it to 400%.
But there are a few remaining, dynamic variables that I can never get right. Film tends to look slightly different shot to shot. Sometimes crunchy clipped shadows, sometimes not.
Hey Lou, fun video! You're right about the blurring line between film and digital if you're focused on online sharing. I'm only a few months in shooting mainly Olympus OM-2 and loving it (I don't share online, but I love prints). I was curious today about the best digital body for vintage lenses, though. Most people seem to think the Nikon Z5 or Sony A7ii. I'm really attracted to the Fujifilm designs like X-T3 and X-E3, but the crop factor with the APS-C seems like a dealbreaker to me. What do you think?
Cheers from Copenhagen 🇩🇰
Pentax k1000 nice pictures
what's the best camera value for the money ?
