    It has more contrast on the XT-4 because the 35 F2 lens is known for its higher contrast which is one of the reasons I love it especially for black and white work. That goes for all the Fujicron lenses. Great video!

    Incredible video and music choice ! Thanks a lot for this video ! And yeah +1EV would do the trick.
    As a film photographer I went for GFX 50s for film simulation and match Pentax 67 depth of field with 1.4 aperture on GFX. The biggest issue to this day is the inability to change green hue. I just can’t understand why we can’t adjust greens, but only red and blue... soooo strange. The key recipe for any Portra film is to get cool greens. Just notice by looking foliage and trees on Portra 400, it has that cold greens/turquoise color of greens. This is the very crucial point. When I get the cooler greens on GFX 50s Im loosing magenta (red) because Im going away from magenta - 5 red, and skin tones looks weird. This is the pain in the ass!! It’s actually same when you want to calibrate your LCD or EVF , you don’t have access to green hue. Crazy .

    • @christiansumalpong
      @christiansumalpong  3 года назад

      Thanks so much man!
      Hmm that's interesting, from what I've seen and from my own experience, Fuji Pro400H has cool greens while Portra has warm greens. But yes, it is a bit limiting Fuji only allows you to adjust reds and greens, even on the higher end GFX series.

    Great video, it's really close between the two. I think a lot of it has to do with the lenses, the Fuji obviously handles flare a lot better and that's where you can see the biggest difference in contrast. Adapting vintage glass could make it neck-and-neck.

    Awesome review. But the recipe still looks more saturated than the actual film. except for the reds. The reds are more vibrant on the actual film. But i heard portra 400 really pumps up the reds. That's what it's known for. All in all, the recipe just doesn't achieve it, so it needed some tweaking. Thanks for the comparison.

      @@spanishmackerel I could! @@christiansumalpong I saw that afterward and thought about it: I don't think the fact that the APSC one showed less stuff would really negatively affect the point of the experiment, which is the LOOK of the stuff, and how much that is or isn't affected by the lens. You could even crop the film images to match. Clearly the film versions blow away the digital, and it would be nice to find out whether adapting a vintage lens might help that.
