for a hard use emergency light go for the surefire or elzetta. ive had success running an orbtronic 17670 rechargeable battery in my fury and avs head elzetta. the surefire e2d did not do well with it and was significantly less bright and had problems switching through modes. helps cut down the cost of using primary cr123a non rechargeables but i keep those on hand for storage or backup.

I kind of wish there was a built-in diffuser, similar in design to the Foxelli headlamp, that one could quickly deploy to provide a brighter flood when needed.

For me battery life is a major thing. I also like a wide even spread of the light. I find that the quality of the reflector and optics can be one of the things that I am willing to spend some extra money on. When I put together gear for a trip I like all my gadgets to use the same type of batteries, usually AAA. Mostly I just use the lights around the camp site, so high output can be a disadvantage. Bright lights damages night vision quickly. I like the flashlights to be as simple as possible. If possible just a on/off switch.

My needs are diverse. I work at a truck stop and am frequently out in the backlot at night. I need a flashlight that I can comfortably carry on myself and look professional, but still powerful enough to light up in between the trucks when I am searching for some transient or lot lizard trying to hide from me.

My biggest concern is size. The light has to be compact enough that I'm not going to notice that its on me. My EDC light is a Streamlight Microstream.

Practical UI that is still easily used under stress. (0.5 lumen option, mid range option, max output option with max output the most mindlessly accessible.), reliability, run time, CRI, and throw. Output has reached impractical levels already, so not terribly concerning.

Would you recommend the G2X-LE for a police officer as a duty light? Thank you
