Well this makes me respect Paul Rodgers even more. He is a living legend and definitely 1 of the top RnR vocalists of all time. Inducting Paul into the hall would not only be a downgrade for him, but an upgrade the hall doesn't deserve.

Who ever gave an f about the sham that is the industry establishment-endorsed "Hall of Fame"?...It's a pathetic, dead institution. I always appreciated Miles Davis's attitude about critics who slammed him for going Electric back in the day.... "These people want to put Jazz in a Museum, freeze-dried like a mummy "....I paraphrase from his autobiography, but....still True.

Hi Michael. Paul Rodgers is a hero of mine, too, and I love Bad Co. (The fact that they were the first band signed to Led Zeppelin’s record label says it all.) I figured Jann Wenner was standing in the way of their inclusion to the rock hall, but I do understand where Paul is coming from with his objection to induction. I hope he changes his mind, though. Yeah, the rock hall has its issues (ahem, see ya Mr. Wenner), but Bad Co deserves to be celebrated and honored forever. They are rock & roll giants. Thanks for all you do, Michael. Take care.

It just didn't appeal to him, and I appealed to him on several occasions.

I never got to see Bad Company live. I did however, get to see "The Firm" live in Daytona Beach back in the 80's. It was an awesome show and it's the only chance I ever had to see Jimmy Page do his amazing guitar gymnastics, the violin bow on the guitar bit and all.
I was seeing a girl who worked at a pizza parlor back then. One of the delivery drivers had to take an order of pizzas up to one of the big Hotels in Daytona Beach Shores. He knocked on the door and it was members of The Firm. He managed to get a pizza box signed by Page and Rodgers. Those were good times back then.

@@MichaelNoland-TheBottomLine I second that. Here should be your next topic why isn't The Guess Who in the RRHOF? I put Burton Cummings up there with Paul Rodgers any day and he's still out there doing it to this day. Another travesty is why isn't Jim Croce in? But Joan Jett is and both her hits are covers while Jim wrote the majority of his own music. A real crime here. Guess it wouldn't have anything to do with her sexual preference would it?

What kind of hall of fame even ASKS people if they want to be inducted? That's like Babe Ruth not being in the Baseball Hall of Fame just because he wasn't interested. Sounds more like they didn't induct them because they were afraid they couldn't profit off of the members attending or performing. The average rock fan probably couldn't tell you what bands are in or not anyway.

Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden stated he doesn't have any interest in the rock and roll hall of fame, being in it, showing up if inducted, or running a promotion campaign like Judas Priest did. He also said it's run by the music business establishment who can't make a living doing anything else, and lastly we ain't dead yet.. Bassist Steve Harris said we've never done music to be in some hall of fame...If it were a thing that was voted on by fans that would be ok. But it's not. So what's the point.

I think people need to know that there are 2 sides of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
There’s the organization that votes on who should be inducted and have their names be all over the walls of the museum and of course to be honored in a induction ceremony every year
And then there’s the 2nd side of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame which is really just a museum to attract tourists that is no different than the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown or the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton
There’s one part that shows a little plaque of all the inductees from what I recall and the rest of it is showcasing important things from the history of Rock n Roll and the genres that inspired Rock n Roll

There are several artists who refused to show up and accept. The Hall of Fame doesn't need their permission to induct them. Axl Rose asked not to be inducted for GnR. Van Morrison didn't show. David Bowie didn't show. The Sex Pistols sent a letter rejecting the induction, but Jann Wenner read the letter at the ceremony as they inducted the Pistols any way. They can induct Bad Company whenever they want.

  • @RadioLaPrincess

I remember several years ago Duran Duran being asked if they cared. This was when they started inducting hip hop and things like that. I remember the response was they didn't care what the suits thought, just the fans. Years later they were inducted and were even encouraging the fans to vote so they either changed their mind once they had a chance or always wanted it and pretended they didn't. They actually got in because many of the old guard who didn't like them (like Wiener, intentionally misspelling) were replaced by people who did (Nile Rodgers, Dave Grohl, etc). I think will change the direction of the hall with the newer people getting more power and I think we will see more overlooked acts. However, it could mean more loose definitions of "rock" and we might see people who should never be in, although we are seeing it now.

I know of Bruce Dickinson turning down Iron Maiden's idea of getting inducted. I think he also called it 'A Bad Organisation'. Someone may have to correct me on this, cause I feel like I'm wrong.

I think Paul Rodgers removed himself from the rock business along time ago. He makes music and releases music, obviously, but he’s more interested in taking care of himself and his family. And releasing music is a way of paying the bills. I’m NOT saying he doesn’t care. I’m just saying that he really doesn’t give two shits about the business and scene for a long long time.

On the reverse side... Mick Jones (Foreigner) went to the RRHOF years ago and LOUDLY complained that Foreigner be inducted... it seems he so made a belligerent scene he was told to his face that Foreigner would NEVER be inducted... Lou Gramm did not go with Mick to the meeting and surely would not have conducted himself in such a manner... so thanks to Mick Jones (who has made "Foreigner" into a glorified tribute band scamming the masses for 20 years...) the band will most likely never see even a nomination...

I didn’t include the double CD “The Original Bad Company Anthology”, because - As great as the four new songs are - they could have done about three more new tracks for it (one would have had to been the song that Paul and Mick closed their episode of Behind The Music with) and really made the Anthology uber special!

The rock & roll hall of fame is overrated and the Rolling Stone magazine or web or whatever is overrated and most artists are overrated, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton are all overrated and that's just a few from a long list, a lot of labels destroyed artists that were in contract with them instead of promoting them, most of the people in the music industry don't have any understanding in music, they have understanding in business but not in music, the term that determine better than other the problem is "Rock n roll is a vicious game", Paul Rodgers should have been in the Rock & roll hall of fame long time ago, he's one of the greatest voices in rock music, his new album is superb!!!

Bad Company. Foreignor, Jethro Tull 3 bands thats are NOT in the hall of fame. but the HOF is now only about inclusiveness and minorities and women. who needs another male rock band and so these 3 wont get in for a while. so rap and Cyndy Lauper and the like will all get in before these bands.

Add Thin Lizzy with the wonderfully talented Phil Lynott, a charismatic frontman, singer, bassist and lyricist. ‘Live And Dangerous’ is up there with the best ever live albums ever released. Add in the exclusion of Badfinger, a great band that was destroyed by wilful mismanagement culminating in two members taking their own lives, Pete Ham and and Tom Evans. They wrote the classic, ‘Without You’ that many thought Nilsson did and ‘Baby Blue’, the closure in the fantastic ‘Breaking Bad’. Add in the greatest guitarist (imho), the one and only GMan, sought after it would appear by the Rolling Stones and revered by Brian May, Slash and Alex Lifeson. Of course Mister Rory Gallagher. These 3 should have been in there long before the many non Rock acts, but maybe it’s good they, like Paul are not. To close, my first ever concert was in 1974 and it remains one of my all time favourites. The band on stage was Bad Company. Rock on Paul, the Voice, numero uno. Absolutely No 1 in rock singing.
