Agree with this list and totally agree on Toto. Toto formed in 1977, has released 14 studio albums and sold over 40 million copies, had tons of hits and won 6 Grammys and were inducted in the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum. They still tour, as you mentioned. The current lineup consists of Steve Lukather, David Paitch and Joseph Williams as well as touring musicians. Members of Toto also performed on some of the biggest selling albums of all time (Michael Jackson's Thriller and Lionel Richie's Can't Slow Down come to mind).
Another band that deserves to be inducted but I never hear mentioned by anyone is Supertramp. Great songs, distinct style, major success. I think even the critics liked them.
Rolling Stone was very relevant when it came to rock music maybe up to the 80's. they really lost me when they missed the boat on the punk music movement. Jann Wenner is a different story. He was perhaps the key person when it came to selecting nominees up until a few years ago. That's why you are seeing many artists being nominated that were previously shunned. Yes the first example and it came after founding member Chris Squire died. Also Roxy Music and T-Rex.
Here are a few snubs that probably haven't been mentioned. Sparks (Ron and Russell Mael) - the brothers are still making music after a 50+ year career. "Weird Al" Yankovic - famous parodist whose career outlasted many of the artists he spoofed over the last 40 years. Rammstein - while a more recent band (they formed in 1994), their metal sound, German lyrics, and Till Lindemann's presence make them hard to pass up.
You hit most bands from my list, but 2 that are closest to the top wasn't mentioned: The Monkees and Paul Revere & The Raiders. Both 1960s bands had many hits and an excellent catalog of music. Both fun, energetic bands that had TV shows: The Monkees and Where The Action Is (PR&TR was the house band). I also believe PR&TR who dressed up on stage in colonial /revolutionary costumes and performed choreographed dance moves with crazy antics influenced other bands dressing up in a signature way and putting on a show. The Monkees, as we know, auditioned to be singers and act as a band on a TV show, but they all had musical talent and became their own band, after having to fight for their respect since they first weren't allowed to play on their first 2 albums. Michael Nesmith wrote Different Drum, but Monkees' producers said "It's wasn't a Monkee's song", so he gave the song to Linda Ronstadt who had a big hit with it. The Monkees actually write many great songs, but their producers pushed the songs writen by other artist. Still many beloved songs we hear on their TV show were written by The Monkees members, mostly by Mike and Peter. Their songs are still playing on many radio stations today and they're often compared to The Beatles as the "Pre-Fab 4". Herman's Hermits and The Carpenter's (soft rock) are very good and would be in my top 50 easily. So glad I saw Meatloaf, Kenny Rogers, and Charlie Daniels in the past 5 - 6 years, shortly before we lost them. Truth is we can easily name 50 deserving artist from just the 60s and 70s who have been snubbed and deserve to be inducted more so than many who have been put in that are far from Rock 'n Roll. Oh, you must go see Dennis DeYoung perform!!!! He basically is Styx. He wrote about half, if not more, of their catalog of songs including many of their biggest hits. He's very personable, charming on stage and talks between songs. His show is more warm and he comes off more likeable than the Styx band IMO. Dennis is open for a reunion, but too bad some of the Styx guys are very uncool, SAD SHAME! Seeing Styx perform a few times and Dennis DeYoung once, I'd go see Dennis again if given the choice between the two. P.S. You can make a Top 50 List, a better way to include more deserving bands and hope it wakes up the RNRHOF nominating commitee in the so called "Rock Hall" to get them on next years' ballot! Have your script pre-written to include a "short something" about each band, and you can make a longer list. Good Luck and keep bringing attention to these long over-due, great artist from the 60's -early 80's that have been nearly forgotten. Also punk band Bauhaus deserves in too. PSS. If any of the RNRHOF folks are reading this: Shame on YOU! So many great artists from the 60s and 70s have died and they should had been inducted YEARS AGO! Get them in NOW while some of the bands members are still alive!
I agree with you on The Raiders but I'm on the fence about the Monkees. Lots of hit records and album sales yes, but they came across as a bit amateurish. What I can say about them in a positive note is that if not for their weekly show, I may never have gotten into Rock 'n' Roll.
Yes, let's say you induct every one on your list, then what? You would be a lot closer to idea that nearly EVERYONE is in the Hall of Fame and thereby it will make itself irrelevant, if it isn't already. To paraphrase Johnny Rotten, "Have you ever thought you've been cheated?"
@@kevinreffitt9635 In the 60's and 70's there were hundreds, if not thousands of noteworthy bands that released music. Here's a list of 70's bands one guy came up with on the interweb: www.classicrockforums.com/threads/list-of-70s-bands-artists-alphabetical-order.151/. So I am just basically suggesting the cream of the crop, 24 bands is just a drop in the bucket. I'm not talking participation trophies here. I'm not sure how that would make it irrelevant.
How could you or the HOShame leave off ELP? Two of the greatest musicians in rock history, with Keith Emerson being one of the finest Keyboard musicians in all of music....
Hey, I could easily come up with 50 or more bands/artists that should be included, ELP being one of them. I just didn't have the time to mention them all!
The keyboard player from Toto, and most rock keyboardist in the 70s and 80s, were influenced by Keith Emerson. ELP were the 4th largest touring act in the early 70s only behind Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and The Who. Shame they’re not in the HOF and shame they didn’t make your list
Johnny Winter - Ten Years After - Canned Heat - the Guess Who - Three Dog Night. Seriously, these groups deserve to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame far more than some that are in. Ridiculous!!!
Great list! It's just ridiculous that Grass Roots, Three Dog Night and Peter Frampton are not already in, but not inducting Boston, Kansas, Styxx and REO Speedwagon in the Hall is just a an absolute oversight. Thanks for the vid.
It's a bigger accolade to not be in the hall of fame. Do you think Sweet should be in there? They rarely get a mention but they inspired so many bands that followed them like Kiss and Queen and Motley Crue and The Scorpions, who covered a couple of their songs, and Def Leppard, who also covered a couple of their songs, and many more.
The Kingston Trio * The Spencer Davis Group * The Spinners * The Monkees * Jan & Dean * Jethro Tull * King Crimson * Emerson, Lake & Palmer * Blood, Sweat & Tears * Kool & The Gang * Commodores
Great list! None of these deserving bands will be "indicted" into the Rock Hall because they actually played rock. WTF? The RRHOF is a sick joke. Thank goodness NWA is in though. : )
I literally had my jaw drop several times during this list! You could use just this list and have a Rock HOF as legitimate as about any already out there. I can't believe that Styx, Foreigner, Kansas, Iron Maiden or Boston to name a few are not already inducted.
I agree with so many of these choices! I truly am grateful that DD and Pat got in this year! However, the choices you listed are an indelible part of my childhood! Sweaty Teddy and Marvin ODay might be hard for a lot of people right now because of politics but there are so many you listed that fill the void of great classic rock! Foreigner, Three Dog Night, Jethro Tull, Styx, The Grass Roots, America, Bad Company and Grand Funk Railroad should be in there!
25 more worst snubs: Screamin' Jay Hawkins Danny & The Juniors Tommy James & The Shondells Suzi Quatro The Monkees Björk King Crimson The Flaming Lips Nico The Pointer Sisters The Alan Parsons Project Sweet Harry Nilsson Badfinger The Raspberries Janis Ian Joan Armatrading Suzanne Vega Motörhead George Thorogood & The Destroyers They Might Be Giants The B-52s The MC5 Devo Cliff Richard/The Shadows
I was in a band that opened for the Grass Roots in 1991 at an outdoor festival in Towson, Md. Most of the band were original members. The only downers were they weren't using a horn section to save $$, and the singer had a broken leg so his motion was slightly limited. A really nice group of guys,, very friendly. I really enjoyed that gig.
That's funny, I was in a band that opened up for the Grass Roots in Dallas in the 80's, lol! Honestly, I'm not sure how many original members there were at that time, but they sounded pretty good!
The R&R hall of fame is the biggest joke on the planet! When bands like Steppenwolf or Bad Company don't get in, but people like Donna Summers and Willie Nelson do, it's not a rock and roll hall of fame! It's a hall of shame!!!
You forgot about Badfinger, 4 hits, 5 if you include Nilsson's cover of without you, 6 great albums, 2 of them undisputed classics, plus they were the backing band at the concert for Bangladesh, plus they were the main originators of an entire genre that would eventually be named power pop, plus of all the Beatle soundalike bands, they were the only ones who had a consistently high quality of songwriting. Sounds like strong hall of fame credentials to me, even more than some of the bands on your list, like Grass Roots and 3 dog night, who relied on outside writers for their hits.
Gordon Lightfoot, Bryan Adams, The Little River Band, Bread and Olivia Newton John. And if there was any band who only had one album that should be in the Hall of Fame, it would be Derek and the Dominos. And I know it may never happen but it would be nice to see Al Stewart and the late Gerry Rafferty be honored there as well.
@@musik102 ....and Olivia Newton John was a giant in pop music...So what's the difference ? Oh yeah, Olivia didn't write a song that made a cocaine junkie lots of money so she could buy lots more blow.
@@bobbybishop368 Nobody in their right mind would say that Olivia should be deducted before Dolly...or, indeed, 100s of other more deserving candidates.
Though these didn't make your list, here's a few more. J Geils Band Paul Revere And The Raiders The Monkees Del Amitri 13th Floor Elevators Link Wray Procol Harem The Runaways Emerson Lake And Palmer King Crimson Charlie Daniels Band Average White Band Bernie Taupin Elton John Band Little Feat The Outlaws John Mayall's Bluesbreakers Phil Keaggy/ Glass Harp Joe Cocker Little Feat MC5 Los Lobos
Tommy James. He was a hit machine across 3 decades. Maybe not if he had stayed a bubblegum king, but he evolved into psychedelia (play the long version of Crimson & Clover), then into adult-rock later on. He should have been inducted long ago.
Chubby Checker, Dick Dale, LaBelle, Bryan Adams, Billy Idol, Rory Gallagher. I also want to see DJ's Wolfman Jack and John Peel given the Ahmut Ertegun award.
I remember a interview Randy Bachman had about it. Jann Warner of Rolling Stone was the obstacle. Randy was a musician that his non parting lifestyle was one of the reasons that the Guess who and Bachman Turner Overdrive didn't get in. Your list, Bands that should have been in years ago.
In addition to Canadian bands Steppenwolf and The Guess Who, there are a few more that should be in there: Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Triumph and April Wine to name just a few.
Can't believe Weird Al isn't just snubbed by the Hall, but also by this list. What else does he need to do? Been touring for over 40 years with the same core band members. Platinum selling albums in 4 different decades. 10 Billboard Top 100 singles in. a genre that gets ZERO radio love. Incredibly gifted vocalist and musician that's well respected by the biggest artists out there.
Glad to read I'm not the only Al fan to know he belongs in the HOF! While I think several of the above acts should get in before him. to me he's a no brainer. He's been great since the late 70's/early 80's. For years I've hoped against hope that Weird Al will preform at the Superbowl half-time show. Please NFL, make it happen.
Al deserves in, but in a special catagory. He obviously didn't write the music, since he mostly took hit songs and wrote paradies of those songs. He is a music genius and extremely talented. Since they include some rap (not even music IMO and not singing at all) and hip hop, they should somehow include Weird Al! I absolutely Love Weird Al and appreciate his talents greatly! Much respect.
Indeed. How many R&R acts professed that they felt that they knew they really finally made it when he chose to parody one of their songs? He did write "originals' in various styles of certain artists.
Here's a thought: If the PGA (Professional Golfers' Association) can be challenged by a new rival League, why can't the RRHOF also be challenged? Let's call it the 'Professional Rockers Only Hall of Fame' (PROHOF). Any other name suggestions?
Styx being snubbed is ridiculous. They are on some radio station every second of the day and most in the HOF can’t say that. Hits galore. Millions of albums sold. It’s like not letting Tom Brady in the football HOF. Shameful
You know the old saying, "Opinions are like A-Holes. Everybody has one and everybody's stinks except mine". The fact that you left EMERSON, LAKE, and PALMER off this list proves that saying.
I enjoyed the list a lot. A band I love, Free morphed into Bad Company - All Right Now was massive hit with Paul Rogers and a guitarist I really admire Paul Kossoff (RIP). I have most of their 6 LPs, Fire and Water is superb. I know they are a bit more pop but I think Tommy James and The Shondells should be there- I Think We're Alone Now, Mony Mony, Crimson and Clover and Crystal Blue Persuasion, Draggin' The Line solo. Many artists covered this band. I really like XTC and Devo from the late 70's & 80s new wave era, don't know if they are in. Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, Elvis Costello, Graham Parker all were excellent British pub rockers along with a real fave of mine, Ian Dury and The Blockheads - Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick and of course the song and popular resulting phrase "Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll" I doubt that The Fugs or the MC5 are in, maybe Iggy Pop and The Stooges. Yet Madonna, Missy Elliot, Public Enemy, Jay-Z and Dolly Parton are in - none of that music resembles Rock and Roll to the majority of the real R& R fans. I'll add Supertramp and Gentle Giant (more popular in Canada where I'm from and the UK than the USA) as my final 2 I know deserve a place in the hall. Jann Wenner is a weird type of exclusionist as the Rolling Stone Magazine publisher with obvious mental problems running this Pall of Shame. Creem Magazine rules. lol!
Here’s a couple I haven’t seen mentioned: Poco and Bruce Hornsby. Poco was one of the first and longest lasting country rock bands and Rolling Stone magazine called Hornsby the “godfather of indie rock”.
You and I share the same list. One more name I'd include in my list would be J.P. Richardson aka The Big Bopper, who was taken from us that same night we lost Buddy Holly and Richie Valens. Both of those guys are already in the Rock Hall of Fame. Why not The Big Bopper? Not only did he score big with "Chantilly Lace", but he also wrote songs that later became hits for other artists like George Jones "White Lightning" and Johnny Preston "Running Bear."
Your name just about everybody that could be named my friend. I would probably put Supertramp, ELP and King Crimson in place of Meatloaf, Uriah Heep and REO Speedwagon. Great list. This is a very entertaining exercize.
I don’t keep up with who is and who is not in the Hall of Fame, but I do listen to music a lot and have over the years and I was actually surprised many times during your presentation hear of bands that I would’ve assumed we’re already in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame. I was actually flabbergasted to learn many of the bands who were not in there. Good job. Most all the bands you mentioned are well deserving. (I guess I should look at the current list and see who already is in there to understand - maybe they have different criteria than I do. Good presentation and I agree almost 100%
The fact that Frampton, Scorpions, Grand Funk, Iron Maiden, and Bad Company weren't inducted in their first year of eligibility is a testament to the ignorance and politics of Jann Wenner and his cronies. Look how long it took to induct the band that gave us Smoke on the Water, a song which single handedly put more electric guitars in peoples hands than anything else ever written. Lastly, Steve Lukather should be in for sure.
I did not know and can not believe that Boston, Foreigner, Styx, Kansas, Jethro Tull, and Blue Oyster Cult are not in there. How ridiculous. And you say Duran Duran is in? OMG. I'm inclined to no longer care about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Is Flock of Seagulls going to get in before any of these? Unbelievable.
ROHF is a joke. Popularity and who they like. Nugent they hate his politics. I have no idea what Tull did to not be in but they where a monster band in the 70's. So many unworthy that are in and worthy that are not.
Toto, Styx, Foreigner and Boston.. I can't imagine a world without their music. Criminally overlooked! (Is that because Rolling Stone doesn't like them??)
Seems like the Hall of Fame has an aversion to (I guess what they perceive to be) "corporate" rock bands of the 70's! Yet these bands sold millions of albums and singles, played clubs and stadiums, many writing, producing and performing their songs and making indelible memories for millions... The RRHOF is a joke! And you know that when one of the recent inductees is miffed at her induction! Thanks, Dolly...
Many artists like Toto said no to Rolling Stone, owned by Jann Wenner, who also owns the R’n R Hall of Fame. Wenner is a magazine owner, With no musical talent. If you ever said no to Rolling Stone, then Wenner made absolutely sure that you would not get into the R n R HOF. Toto said no to a .Rolling Stone article in the 70’s. Steve Miller told Wenner to go fuck himself thousands of times, but somehow Wenner finally caved and allowed the Steve Miller Band entry but they had to wait an extra 20 years. Rolling Stone Magazine, and The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame have NO credibility, and never did have any, at any time. Too many folks think that the Hall is a consortium of conspiring people that make the decision, It has always been one 77 year old angry old man making the decision. Now the RnR HOF is a dumping ground for Rap. Dolly Parton just told Wenner to go fuck himself a few months ago, explaining that Country is not Rock n Roll.
Thanks for the reply John, I discovered Styx when Styx 11 (2) came out then a few years after that The Grand Illusion made me a life time believer. Just on Lou Gramm, I live in Australia and here we have a super vocalist ( I'm sure you've heard him) John Farnham; anyway if you A-B Lou and John it can be hard to tell the difference, to my ears anyway.
John....GREAT LIST. You had several of the Bands/Individuals off my list. I just saw a post by Adam Reader (the Professor of Rock). He had a similar content to the snubs. Here are some more that neither you or Adam mentioned. Emerson, Lake & Palmer....Huey Lewis & the News.....Nazareth......Joe Cocker.....Billy Idol......Stone Temple Pilots....Triumph......Bryan Adams.....Eddie Money.....Billy Squier......The Alan Parsons Project.....38 Special.....Bread/David Gates.......Bachman Turner Overdrive.....Supertramp.....Badfinger.....Motley Crue......INXS......Foghat, Collective Soul & Iron Butterfly. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame putting in Country, Hip Hop & Rappers (all well and good) BUT.....THEY AREN'T ROCK & ROLL!!!! Maybe a name change is needed. Put in some Classical Music, Polkas, Gospel and Tribal Ceremonial chants.....Call it "The Anything that Remotely Sounds Like Music Hall of Fame". There are only 152 Inductees in the Country Music Hall of Fame, 16 of which are also in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with The Everly Bros., Elvis Presley & Jerry Lee Lewis the only ones of those 16 that DID anything Rock & Roll or close to it. I don't see Motley Crue or Ted Nugent getting in the Country Music Hall of Fame any time soon!
This is a great list and one that I also agree with. I would like to include another one, Wings, and would like your thoughts about them. From 1971-81 they had produced eight albums, all going Top Ten on the Billboard Albums chart, including 5 that went to #1 and 1 that peaked at #2. The group also produced 22 Billboard Top 40 singles, 14 of which went Top 10 (6 to #1). I'm guessing that the RRHOF considers that Sir Paul McCartney is already in the RRHOF as a member of The Beatles, as a solo performer and as a song writer so they won't consider his post-Beatles group. It could also be that they consider Wings to be part of his "solo" work.
JETHRO TULL!!!!!!!!!! Other inductees like Yes and the Eagles were their opening bands as they filled arenas and have the most energetic frontman in Rock n' Roll history.
Totally agree GRAND FUNK RAILROAD SHOULD BE IN WITHOUT A QUESTION!!! BAD COMPANY, STYX, FOREIGNER ARE MY FAVORITES!!! IT'S A JOKE / TRAVESTY THAT THEY ARE NOT IN!!
I saw Three Dog Night and Tommy James live. Tommy James and the Shondells were the "headliner" act that included Bo Diddley, Del Shannon and Lou Christie. Tommy James even apologized for being a "Yankees fan". The concert was in RI.
If you were a classic rock band from the AOR era, and you haven't been inducted by now, there's little chance you ever will be - or you'll be dead before it happens. The RRHOF has come out and clearly stated that their mission is no longer about honoring great rock n roll bands but rather to include and prioritize other genres, such as hip hop and country. It wants to be "culturally relevant" and diverse, and the white all-male bands from the 70s and 80s are no longer that. Sorry Kansas, Boston, Foreigner, Styx etc... You made great music back in the day and will be forever remembered and played on Classic Rock radio.
If groups like Foreigner, Bad Company, Iron Maiden, and The Guess Who can't get in, I'd say Toto has absolutely zero chance. Even though South Park claims they are the band that everybody likes. Whewww...TOTO!...Whewww!
INXS George Michael( If Dolly and Whitney are in, so should George) Creed is eligible in a couple years, and probably won’t get a sniff, but Mark Tremonti should get in
One that deserves to get inducted into the rather ridiculous Hall of Fame is Nicky Simper, the original bassist of Deep Purple, who for some unknown reason was snubbed when Deep Purple was inducted. It just showed, that the Hall of Fame haven’t got the slightest clue about music.
There were many snubs who weren't performers. Partial list is Roy Halee, Tony Hatch, Bob Crewe, Terry Melcher, Linzer & Randall, Sloan & Barri, Tommy Tedesco, Carol Kaye, Phil Ramone and Graham Gouldman.
Personally, I find it disgusting that both Ted Nugent will likely never make it in the HOF due to his politics. Personally, I don't really agree with his politics either, but are we talking about the political hall of fame, or the ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame? Even Tom Morello who sits on the board that chooses who gets nominated said that it likely won't ever happen even though he quite obviously deserves it. Which is exactly EXACTLY why I can't believe there's still this many people that still care. I mean, what does being in the HOF really mean anyway? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It's not now, nor has it ever been a marker for one's achievements or relevancy in the world of rock. Right now I can't think of anything more YUPPY than the R&RHOF. I imagine when you go there that the parking lot is absolutely PACKED with mid-life crisis mobiles.
From Australia , what about Ten Years After , Bad Company , Emerson Lake Palmer , Joe Cocker , Grand Funk Railroad , Rory Gallagher, Johnny Winter , Humble Pie , Peter Frampton , just to name a few , RRHOF is a bit of a joke now and has been for decades , Peace from down under
I don't know who's in charge of nominating for the Hall of Fame. But it makes me wonder if any of these groups that you mentioned will ever get there. I listen to steppenwolf I love their songs. Three dog night I love their songs. Grand funk railroad they were my favorite group. But there are so many many more that I really enjoy listening to. That you had mentioned. It's sad to know that these groups that aren't there may not ever get there for one reason or another. And these groups that aren't there that you mentioned. Definitely deserve to be there. It's a shame the fans can't vote.
Besides your selections which I agree with - Ronnie James Dio - Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Ozzy Osbourne (solo) - Alice In Chains - Motorhead - Motley Crue - Rick James - Willie Nelson (if they're gonna keep putting in Country acts then this is a no-brainer) - Tommy James & The Shondells - Cyndi Lauper - Bryan Adams - Slayer - Pantera - Soundgarden - Megadeth - Sweet - Girlschool - Slade
I'm thinking that Badfinger should be in the Hall. However, for them to be in the Hall, the music industry would basically have to admit how seedy and dirty it can be at times.
I agree with all your mentions. I would include the following: Slade The Runaways Sweet Lita Ford Suzy Quatro Dokken Johnny Rivers Tommy James The Turtles
Said this on the last one, but the original starting Steve Miller Band from the first 5 to 10 albums deserves to be in alongside their namesake. That they aren't and Boz Scaggs also as a solo artist is a crime.
The worst snub, and it's definitely on a personal level, is Neil Sedaka. A giant of early pop/rock music with a string of classic hits in the pre-Beatles period. And, then he made a huge comeback in the 1970s.
Thank you for being the first one to mention Ted Nugent. Not only is he a gifted and underrated guitarist, but first and foremost, he is a SHOWMAN! Perpetuation of rock-'n'-roll ! If KISS are in he should be. But as long as Jann Wenner and his cronies are in charge, his outspoken right wing politics will be considered more than his music in keeping him out.
@foot bru This is literally the only rock hall snub list I've ever seen Nugent's name on. Most rock writers don't seem to think he deserves to be in, probably because he's better known now as a right wing talk show host , and most of the rock press is left wing. But I saw the guy live in 1978 when I was 17. Still one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
I think Boston isn't there because they weren't a real group. The music was created by Tom Scholtz and vocals added by Brad Delp. And they had a drummer. A band was hired for touring and the members came and went. So who among them should be inducted?
Blood, Sweat and Tears George Thoroughgood and the Destroyers Supertramp Gordon Lightfoot Johnny Rivers Dick Dale Golden Earring Emerson, Lake and Palmer Glad you mentioned Three Dog Night, Ted Nugent and Jethro Tull.. They rarely get the credit they deserve..
@@johnlangemusic You got to admit King Crimson was ground zero for the progressive rock movement, which was way more influential than a number of your picks. ELP was enormous in the 70's, and the Moody Blues famous as well!
They would be a great addition! I could add another band for #12, but I’d have to re-upload as a new video, RUclips doesn’t let you replace it. Then I would lose my view history, it’s a bummer!
Great list, i would also add other deserving artists such as Free, Alice in Chains, Ozzy, Pantera, T-Rex, Todd Rundgren, Rage Against the Machine, Pixies, Motorhead, Sonic Youth, Warren Zevon, Television, Joy Division, the Doobie Brothers, MC5 & Yes, i am sure there are many more & perhaps some of those i mentioned have been inducted but i missed it because i dont pay attention to a rock & Roll award show that awards pop, country, rap & hip hop artists. The mind boggles, how can they keep the name but behave in such a ridiculous fashion.
Imagine a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that hates Rock and Roll.
21st Century Wokeness!
but luvs missy n madonna.
The R&R Hall of Fame has always been a joke! They tell US what's good, we don't tell THEM! Screw 'em!
I agree 100% brother the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame is had their Heads stuck up their asses for decades they have now become totally irrelevant
I'm not a huge Supertramp fan, but if Duran Duran is in, Supertramp certainly should be there - shoulda been there long before Duran Duran.
The Jan Wenner Hall of Shame is a joke. Rolling Stone hasn't been relevant since the early '70s so what else should we expect.
It’s all political
Jann Wenner hasn’t been involved with the Hall for years though.
Rolling Stone was relevant in the 70's? With regards to music? You're giving them more credit than they've earned.
I understand he's gone.
I think it should be partially on influence, which would definitely put the Maels in the mix. I'd also throw in DEVO for their incredible influence.
Get them in NOW while some of the bands members are still alive!
bubble gumm
I agree with you on The Raiders but I'm on the fence about the Monkees. Lots of hit records and album sales yes, but they came across as a bit amateurish. What I can say about them in a positive note is that if not for their weekly show, I may never have gotten into Rock 'n' Roll.
Saw Mark Lindsay about 20 years ago at an oldies show. Was still killing it!
Electric Light Orchestra was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
Wow, thanks for letting me know! I researched everything on the RHoF website, but I must have messed that one up, lol!
Bravo. Why does ELP never get any love on these things? Saw them in 72 and it's still one of the best shows I've ever seen.
The fact that nobody talks about inducting Slade into the RRHOF is criminal. Their influence will be felt for many years to come.
Yes, the Sweet were ahead of their time and influenced a lot of people, I think they should be in!
The Kingston Trio * The Spencer Davis Group * The Spinners * The Monkees * Jan & Dean * Jethro Tull * King Crimson * Emerson, Lake & Palmer * Blood, Sweat & Tears * Kool & The Gang * Commodores
Emerson, Lake & Palmer; King Crimson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great list! None of these deserving bands will be "indicted" into the Rock Hall because they actually played rock. WTF?
The RRHOF is a sick joke. Thank goodness NWA is in though. : )
Any list that talks about RRHOF snubs that doesn't have Joe Cocker or The Monkees on it is incomplete.
They should have been in 30 years ago.
I agree especially Joe Cocker.
There should be special tribute inductions for Jim Croce, Harry Chapin and Dan Fogelberg.
I literally had my jaw drop several times during this list! You could use just this list and have a Rock HOF as legitimate as about any already out there.
I can't believe that Styx, Foreigner, Kansas, Iron Maiden or Boston to name a few are not already inducted.
I know, it’s pretty much a crime! Thanks for the comment!
I just found out that Boston, foreigner;and van Halen are not in yet. This compete bullshit.
Link Wray, snubbed many times, father of the power chord, his instrumental Rumble was banned from airplay in many cities.

Don't forget, Ten Years After. Going Home 🎶 🎸 🎸r 🎸 🎶
Humble Pie, Ten Years After, Rory Gallagher, Robin Trower, Foghat
Can’t argue with Badfinger, great band!
and posthumous releases. and band for harrisons all things must pass box.
Oliva Newton-John, really? I used to be madly in love with her but there is a line of hundreds of likely candidates ahead of her.
@@musik102 like who ? Dolly Parton ?
@@bobbybishop368 Well, if they include country, Dolly is a giant. And, simply for writing, "I Will Always Love You" she deserves to be considered.
Jim Croce instantly came to mind. He was awesome with several great songs.
King Crimson, Humble Pie, Mott the Hoople, Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band, cripes I can think of 20 more but Snubs be Snubs, eh...
Though these didn't make your list, here's a few more.
J Geils Band
Paul Revere And The Raiders
The Monkees
Del Amitri
13th Floor Elevators
Link Wray
Procol Harem

Emerson Lake And Palmer

Bernie Taupin
Elton John Band
Little Feat
The Outlaws
John Mayall's Bluesbreakers
Phil Keaggy/ Glass Harp
Joe Cocker
Little Feat
MC5
Los Lobos
i'll ad the Mc5 to your list.
Little Feat is the greatest omission from the Hall and closely followed by Los Lobos
You forgot Joe Cocker.
@@giannag4581 , on the list now!
They're dying to put the MC5 in. Thank you for putting Link Wray on your list a total founding father and innovator.
It's makes no sense at all that Three Dog Night isn't in. They were the biggest band in America in the early 70s.
Jethro Tull is the biggest snub. Then Squeeze and Procol Harum. From the sixties Paul Revere and the Raiders, Herman's Hermits and Lesley Gore.
I also believe he should be in the hall of Fame.
Weird Al should get it not only because he made great music, but because UHF is freakin' masterpiece!
I agree Meatloaf and Jim Steinmann should both be in. Steinmann wrote the songs and Meatloaf brought them to life.
Free Humble Pie should be in too
Here's a thought: If the PGA (Professional Golfers' Association) can be challenged by a new rival League, why can't the RRHOF also be challenged? Let's call it the 'Professional Rockers Only Hall of Fame' (PROHOF). Any other name suggestions?
Styx being snubbed is ridiculous. They are on some radio station every second of the day and most in the HOF can’t say that. Hits galore. Millions of albums sold. It’s like not letting Tom Brady in the football HOF. Shameful
You know the old saying, "Opinions are like A-Holes. Everybody has one and everybody's stinks
except mine". The fact that you left EMERSON, LAKE, and PALMER off this list proves that saying.
Fair enough, lol! Thanks for the comment!
Toto not in Dolly Parton in 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 nothing against mrs Parton but don’t they have a country music hall of fame
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it!
Johnny Rivers and Mitch Ryder must've been blackballed. They're no brainers.
Plain and simple, #1 snub Grand Funk Railroad.
by keeping The Guess Who out, they're keeping one of the GREAT singers out. Burton Cummings is so awesome!
It's hard to believe Iron Maiden is not in The RnRl Hall of Fame! One of the most successful bands ever which influenced so many artists...
TULL!!
What good is a HOF if almost everyone is in?
Yes, I would have no problem with Wings getting in!
Yep!
Ouch, I thought so many of these bands were already there. WTH is wrong with the museum..??
JETHRO TULL!!!!!!!!!! Other inductees like Yes and the Eagles were their opening bands as they filled arenas and have the most energetic frontman in Rock n' Roll history.
Totally agree GRAND FUNK RAILROAD SHOULD BE IN WITHOUT A QUESTION!!! BAD COMPANY, STYX, FOREIGNER ARE MY FAVORITES!!! IT'S A JOKE / TRAVESTY THAT THEY ARE NOT IN!!
Agree with all your picks
Three Dog Night was the first band I seen live. Love scorpions
What about Tommy James, Johnny Rivers. Thanks, great video.
Paul revere and the raiders , and so many more !!!
INXS
George Michael( If Dolly and Whitney are in, so should George)
Creed is eligible in a couple years, and probably won’t get a sniff, but Mark Tremonti should get in
One that deserves to get inducted into the rather ridiculous Hall of Fame is Nicky Simper, the original bassist of Deep Purple, who for some unknown reason was snubbed when Deep Purple was inducted.
Kansas
Supertramp
King Crimson
Jethro Tull
Styx
Foreigner
REO Speedwagon
Iron Maiden
Boston

it's no longer a Hall of Fame...it is a wax museum
From Australia , what about Ten Years After , Bad Company , Emerson Lake Palmer , Joe Cocker , Grand Funk Railroad , Rory Gallagher, Johnny Winter , Humble Pie , Peter Frampton , just to name a few , RRHOF is a bit of a joke now and has been for decades , Peace from down under
Your list included many snubs, that I often question why. The One that no one seems to mention is the Runaways.

Yes, lots of great artists there!
I'm thinking that Badfinger should be in the Hall. However, for them to be in the Hall, the music industry would basically have to admit how seedy and dirty it can be at times.
I think Alice in Chains and Queensryche are deserving
Johnny Rivers,Cher and Joe Cocker.

I would include the following:
Slade
The Runaways

Lita Ford
Suzy Quatro
Dokken
Johnny Rivers
Tommy James
The Turtles
King Crimson.
ELO was around #13 - love that choice
Said this on the last one, but the original starting Steve Miller Band from the first 5 to 10 albums deserves to be in alongside their namesake. That they aren't and Boz Scaggs also as a solo artist is a crime.
Jann got his ass kicked for his resistance to Rush for all those years! Your list is spot on!
Sonny and Cher
Should make a list of who shouldn't be in the Rock Hall. There is a lot of them too.
The worst snub, and it's definitely on a personal level, is Neil Sedaka. A giant of early pop/rock music with a string of classic hits in the pre-Beatles period. And, then he made a huge comeback in the 1970s.
Neil wrote some beautiful songs!
Yes, Neil was probably the leader of the second wave of Rock's pioneers in the early 60s.
@foot bru I meant as a potential rock hall inductee.
@@scottmcneely1927 I saw him about a decade later in the 80s and I was absolutely shocked at how great he was. I'll never forget that show.
How come Bachman-Turner Overdrive is always overlooked
Yes, they are worthy! It’s hard to include them all without doing a list of 50 or 100!
I think Boston isn't there because they weren't a real group. The music was created by Tom Scholtz and vocals added by Brad Delp. And they had a drummer. A band was hired for touring and the members came and went. So who among them should be inducted?
I’m not sure why that would disqualify them. Just put in Tom and Brad if that’s an issue, but they still deserve to be in.
@@johnlangemusic Can't say I disagree, but it may insult any other members that they had. Don't know if that's the issue anyway.

I have a suggestion for a new video: Top 25 Bands that are In The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that Don't Deserve to be There.
Your 25 are a list of top Rock bands .
What got in that doesn't need to be there ?
Surprise no mention of Moody Blues, King Crimson, or Emerson Lake & Palmer.
All good picks as well, there are lots of them. Not enough time to list them all!
@@johnlangemusic You got to admit King Crimson was ground zero for the progressive rock movement, which was way more influential than a number of your picks. ELP was enormous in the 70's, and the Moody Blues famous as well!
Agreed, ELP were bigger than every band on this list
Can you add Tommy James and the Shodells as #12 to Replace ELO on the list?
They would be a great addition! I could add another band for #12, but I’d have to re-upload as a new video, RUclips doesn’t let you replace it. Then I would lose my view history, it’s a bummer!
Hi John great show brother. I SUBSCRIBED to your channel. Keep up the good work!
Thank you, it’s much appreciated!
@Jon T. TRex got in there along with another deserving unlikely, Roxy Music .
