Mick Ralphs was interviewed by TeamRock Radio at a special fans event at the Gibson Studios in London where Mick discussed the new editions of the first two Bad Company albums. Watch the first part of the interview here.
Low-key one of my favorite "jam with" guitarists back in HS in the late 70s. As a young guitarist, I used to warm up with his riffs every practice. Straight forward blues and rock n roll grooves. Darn good band, too.
My favorite rock record is the first Bad Company album. Mick has such great vibrato in his playing. Killer guitar player.
The first is a classic but the second Album just rocks harder and it features Ralphs really pushing his playing to the limit, Deal With The Preacher amazing.

Just now listened to Deal With the Preacher over some new high end in-ears I picked up, damn, that's good stuff!
His sound and playing ... that tone on the solo about halfway in, sweet.

Mick if your feeling better please please do some more Q & A's, You and Mick Jones (from Foreigner) deserve much more attention and praise for your guitar playing influence on Classic Rock & AOR, Amazingly Ralph's guitar playing got more and more complex with each Bad Co Album, He has that unique tone (or brown sound as Eddie Van Halen likes to call it) huge thick riff's but what I find is his great tasty lead solo's are very under rated.
Mott was a brilliant album. Get well Mick we miss you.
I had read about the “bald at the station” incidents but the “frothing at the mouth” story tickled me.

It's funny that we're 3/4s of the way through 2019, but no word of a Deluxe 40th Anniversary edition of Desolation Angels, the biggest album of their later career, has come out. PS Hope Mick's better now.

I never thought Mick Ralphs (if that is what his real name is because all the Mott The Hoople.guys were given more rock and roll names) was a great guitarist but was "good enough" but he could write songs and play within his capabilities. I think that the idea of creating a group that could produce catchy rock and roll put Bad Company in a place where they were really big during the 1970s. After dealing with Paul Kosoff and his drug addictions who was in fact a great guitarist, I am sure Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirk were very happy to have Ralphs be their guitar player.
