8 years old, got a Starfish off Teignmouth beach, Devon on family holiday.Took it to local aquarium. Bad(and later, expensive)move as I saw all the fish in the aquarium and have never been the same since. My Dad fished with me when I was about age 14 to 21.Never nuts like I was. But we had some great laughs. He never took life too seriously. But he "left me too early" if you know what I mean. I'm lucky to have a laugh filming with Mike. Lots of father/son combos don't get that chance.

TAFishing Had a great day out with Charma Fishing, Cardiff. As it was the first time I must admit I was very apprehensive. My advice to anyone thinking of doing it is just go, don't think about it. You only need to take yourself and some food. Make sure you have appropriate clothing for the weather, preferably layered, and suntan lotion or moisturiser for your face. Everything else is supplied by the Charter Boat. Thanks for your video it did help.

I still haul-up manually, even on my own, but I dare not anchor in fast tides single handed as I am up on the bow so can't run forward. Got the Alderney Ring, as long as you follow procedure of not running over your own anchor rope you should be OK.Better to fish two people on a boat, if only to haul anchor. I wear those rubber garden gloves for extra grip on the rope. Always take care pulling up anchors. Wear a lifejacket.

Glad you like the films and sound like a new member of our "Awesome Army !" I love going out in my 17-footer.Sure its all hassle with boating, but when you get some good fish it makes it worthwhile as its all your own work. And remember if you get fed up there is always a market for second-hand boats, so you can sell.Though I know several accounts of people selling up, then miss their boat and go buy another.

we use similar tactics for big flathead catfishing with the rigs except heavier with circle hooks. The slide weight tactics work great for letting the fish take it against the clicker and leaning into the circle for a clean lip hook to not hurt the fish. The hit on the first sip of tea is hilarious, the second I pick my coffee up the rod folds over every time. Sure fire way for a bite as you proved ! - but we dont boat fish so this video was really informative and as always best fishing show ever! thanks

Brilliant video, learnt huge amounts being a novice sea angler, I got a 3.3m inflatable boat with a 9.8hp motor and that will go 20mph and i can handle that on my own, had plenty of Sea bass with Feathers and topped off with 110gram wedge on the end, also plenty of Mackerel, but so far that is it, however your videos inspire me to do more. how far out were you and do you have certain spots you like or is it just random ares you fish, I tend to try and find rockeries on the bed or ship wrecks, I wouldn't mind fishing around some oil rigs or near wind farms, i bet they would be good fishing spots, whats your opinion on what i have said. Appreciate your knowledge of fishing it is very inspiring.

Our boat rigged out cost around £14,000,but that's new. It would doubtless be more now. You can get cheaper second-hand boats but I looked at complete rubbish, driving miles to look at overpriced pieces of junk that looked OK in the photograph. So I went for new. Its a minefield out there, and you never know if the boat's hull has got any water ingress. I don't what to tell you. I don't think you'll get much for less than say £5000,and even then you don't know how the engine has been serviced.

Listen, don't worry, you are so right .I swim about as good as a Dodo with a backpack of lead, so its a one-way ticket. Mike's off filming in Swanage today but before he left I got him to put a mention up on the film to remind people. I wouldn't dream of driving my car without a seat belt yet loads of us jump in boats and power off. I bet there are hundreds nodding in agreement that they forget to put on their kill switch. Well spotted.

I always get a kick out of your productions. Great job with this one also. I've been fishing a long time and I have time in as a commercial rod & reel guy in New England. Well I just picked up a 17 foot Boston Whaler here in Virginia and I'm going to give a few things on this video a shot. We don't really use "booms" on this side but I'll see how they work on Cobia and Short Nose Shark. Again thanks and job well done.

Yes, most anglers use feathers for catching mackerel, but with all the commercial pressure they are under I would say its rare to get a hundred in one session. Sometimes we only just catch enough for bait, and its getting harder every year. I feel you might struggle to get 100 on each trip out in years to come. I can't even remember the last time I caught 100 mackerel. We only usually catch 10/20 for enough bait, then stop catching them.

Don't ever get fooled by buying a boat (hull) that your are finished. You are generally just starting !! A pit into which your pour money(Continually !) But fun. Or so I keep telling myself. The Wilson Flyer is about the best value starter boat you could buy, but by the time you add engine/trailer/electronics etc I guess I'm into about £14,000.Its probably more, but I try not to think about it. Our 550lb odd Porbeagle shark makes it all worthwhile. Had 3 different species over 100lb in it.

I was on a mark given me by Wayne Comben, north of the Nab.However, you can't fish bass in Langstone harbour, I believe they are still protected. I don't think anyone will tell you where to go bass fishing, as lots are sold ,at least that's what I am told. Wayne is the man to contact on our website. You won't get a bass mark, but you might get a tip or bait technique. Drop him an email,I am sure he will point you in the right direction.

Great show Graeme and love the tips. Do you have any tips for pulling the anchor up? I have a bad back and pulling the anchor up with the tide pushing against the boat is not fun and kills my arms and back. I have had a go at using the anchor buoy to lift the anchor up and have had little success as I am worried about getting the anchor rope wrapped around the engine especially in a strong tide. When it works its great but as you know the tide rips through the Solent when the tide is full on.
