The Best Wreck fishing I have had in years!!! SO MANY BIG FISH!!! | The Fish Locker

- Pollack Spawn in the early months of the year. January to March so I try not to take any during these months. After allowing them to spawn and fatten up a bit its time to stock the freezer with some prime eating fish. Today I have the best Pollack wreck fishing session in years. So many good healthy Pollack on the wrecks - I believe this is due to the restrictions imposed on commercial fishermen over the winter stopping them netting the wrecks for Pollack. I truly hope this continues to improve the Pollack stocks and subsequently the fishery.
Here are links to some of the tackle that I used in this video. I hope it helps.

Nice gadget 👍
Hi John what is the rod reel combo you are using in this video cheers garry
A very jealous Cornish fisherman that now lives in Bulgaria, far from the sea, would like to congratulate you on your fishing and your RUclips journey!
You have come so far since the beginning and its great to see you making a huge a success of your passion 👏🏼
So many elements in your videos now that I can't even begin to highlight individual segments.
From hook to plate, tackle knowledge, boating skills, diving pleasures, safety, conservation, shore, reef and boat, educated.....the list goes on.
The way you go about your fishing is admirable.
You respect the environment and the catch.
You are knowledgeable and pass that knowledge on.
You dont take for granted what you are lucky enough to have surrounding you.
You are entertaining whilst informative.
Beyond that, you are a pleasure to watch and learn from!
Im not one for leaving comments normally but some things you just cant leave without giving kudos to those that put so much time and effort into giving us a glimpse into their world.
Pretty awesome and im not just talking about the fishing 😉
May it long continue 👏🏼
Thank you very much for the fantastic postive feedback. It hasn’t been easy and there are some really venomous people around. It seems the larger your success the more jealous people you attract. Thank you. 👍🏻💙
I'm a new watcher, just found you in the last week and been watching from Melbourne, Australia. You've inspired me to set up a beach day with friends and look up the marine laws here and learn a bit about our local environment while we check out our rock-pools. I grew up watching Les Hiddins and you two have a lot in common. I'm blown away by how you know all the Latin names and how your channel remains so wholesome. All this to say your efforts are greatly appreciated and maybe the haters are more likely to comment but there are a lot of us who silently watch and love the message that you bring.
I did laugh when I heard you say that Aussies will be cringeing when I put my hands into these caves and crannies in the rock pools. You're damn right about that!
@@TheFishLocker Unfortunately that is how it is. I prefer to strive to become more like those that are successful than being jealous of the fact that they are.
I'm sure you're strong enough to ignore the hate and use all the positivity to motivate you and continue on your journey 👍🏼
If I ever return to Cornwall I will have to try and catch you for a fishing lesson 😉
Keep up the great work, I'm already looking forward to your next video 🧐😁
I am from TMS ... left to join the army in 2003 and now live in Germany ... I love watching your videos ! ...i used to go fishing myself off Falmouth on the wrecks and Porthleven .. Beach casting for bass at Perranporth .. your videos make me a bit home sick sometimes XD .. keep up the good work !
Stay safe 😊
👍🏴😁✌️

Glad you enjoy joining me John. Best wishes and stay safe.
Hacking crowbag 😂😂

What I like about your ethics, is you only take what you need or what won't survive if you put it back. You also stick by the rules for sizes and release anything undersized. Great stuff and thank you for your vlogs.
I simply live and fish as I feel is right.
The perfect day, the sea flat calm and the fish hungry there's nothing better 🙂
You can’t help but love it!!!
Awesome fishing, beautiful fillets, quality feeding right there. As an Englishman fisherman who has lived in New Zealand for the past 24 years I love watching your fishing back in old blity is both nostalgic and encouraging. You have some really good fishing and foreshore life going on, it's good to see. I welcome you to come and fish here in NZ, get you on to a good kingfish or two, they are brutal fighters and delicious at the same time. Come over mate, would love to have a fish with you
I have heard people talk about Kingfish before. Exciting fish!!
They will do their best to pull your arms out of your sockets, screaming runs, pull like a school boy and will consciously try and wrap you up on any structure. Poppers, jigs and particularly livebaits get them. If you want to have a crack in our summer, your winter let me know and I can sort out fishing and accommodation for you mate.
As a shore angler im always very jealous of boat anglers as you always catch bigger fish. But I also realise the work and expense that goes into a boat. Tight lines sir
Aye mate.
Get a boat
I'm just starting to reconnect with my dad more, and you're really making me want to go fishing with him again, John. I really appreciate how you show the simple beauty of life in all your videos.
Good for you. We are simply sharing what we know and love doing in the hope that it spreads some positivity to the world.
I Love it a man who just loves to be out on the sea even on bad days, this wasn't one but great to see. Thank you.
My word, those donkeys could take you water-skiing. Beautiful specimens. I read your other comment about your success correlating to more venomous people chiming in with irrelevant and unwanted advice. Don't entertain the begrudgers. All the best John, from an admiring Dublin angler.👍
Thank you and yes, that’s good advice. 😉🎣
Your excitement is infectious, good day in the office! Looking forward to see Jim cooking again! Great vid!
Jim has not had the best of health, when he is well we shall film with him again.
@@TheFishLocker Understood, take care mate
Fancy Lad Trousers, Waves throwing the Dingy around and what an Epic Day of Fishing....well done..
Nice fish. Those sailing jelly fish things were just beautiful.
Cheers John, you are indeed the John Noakes of the sea.
Not sure who he is, but thanks. 👍🏻🎣

Thanks John I always look forward to your videos always a great watch looking forward to the next
Thanks Doug, take care mate.
Again a great tutorial how to fish a wreck. Shows you that you not just have to keep winding in fish for the freezer, but also can have loads of fun fishing a small rod and a small lure/jig and return the fish you do not want to take home. Great video once again John. Greetz from Stipo from Holland
Sustainability and restraint when harvesting fish. Doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun along the way. 😉🎣
Job done John, freezer no longer empty. Great upload, regards to the family and greetings from Cyprus. 🐟🐟🐟🐟🦞🦞😎😎
After those fish it certainly isn’t empty!! 🤣
As ever John, another superb video. Educational, Informative and just so interesting and fun at the same time. Thank you.
My pleasure mate.
love watching you puts a smile on my face everytime i get a notification that you have posted a new video ❤
Every Sunday without fail. 😉🎣👍🏻
What pleasent surprise, a little visitor(s) from south, the seas just never stop giving do they! Fascinating, thank you John.

That is so cool to see. Love the by the wind sailor!! You always teach such thrilling episodes!
Fascinating creatures aren’t they.
What a great catch John. Superb day's fishing. Thanks for sharing with us all.
Any time miles.
I have great respect for you and your ethic for conservation and appreciation of the pelagic resources. Blessings and Joy to and your family! 🤠 from Texas
Thank you Sir and best wishes to you and your family.
Fantastic video John, great Sunday entertainment plus the addition of a very interesting explanation of the sail jellyfish, fascinating. Seen them several times out in the bay but didn’t know exactly what they were. The fishing was magnificent, very jealous. Thanks yet again for a great Sunday evening.
All the best mate.
Sunday night over in Canada enjoying your content! Great fishing videos and always love watching someone who is not only good at their craft but very knowledgable about it and loves it as well. Thank you!
Thank you very much for the positive feedback. I really appreciate it. 😊👍🏻🎣
Well done. Certainly made me feel envious what a session. The whole video was great John.
Thank you very much.
Two in one day, you’re spoiling us JL Tonight’s was an absolute joy, the By The wind sailor was stunning, as I said in the earlier video, every day is a learning day! 👍
Aye mate. The videos compliment each other. Tbh the main channel has grown so large now I can’t find the time for regular workshop videos. Maybe if it grows large enough that I can stop working and just do RUclips? 🤷🏻♂️
I normally go on about how beautiful the opening scenes are on the boat first thing ,,, not today ! Those fillets at the end wow,,, just wow !!,👍🏴
Prime eating fish. 👌🏻
Fish , fun and a enjoyable day in the boat and a bit of nature thrown in great video John 😊😊
Cheers mate.
Thank you John for the last half hour fishing video, always looking forward to your video's great fish them Pollack. Take care.
My pleasure John.
Brilliant day out 😊
👍🏴😁✌️
Blinder of a trip mate.
Hoorah it's Sunday again. In bed with a cup of tea enjoying another fab video. Thanks John.
Every Sunday without fail. 😊🎣
Hey John, hello from 🇨🇦. Do you know the stories of these wrecks that you’re fishing? Is it possible to know the name of the boat may be a little bit about how the boat found itself on the bottom? I think it’d be really interesting as a small segment on these wreck drifts, and give us a little more insight into the boat itself, size, type, age... I also really like it when you send a GoPro down, all the Perhaps there’s not enough light. Either way your new posts are a highlight after a busy day. Please keep up the great work.
@@SweetLeadership - If I told you the name and the history. People would know which one I was fishing and where it was so there would be 10 boats on it the next time I was there
@@TheFishLocker Understood! Does anyone spot their stolen gear when it’s up for the off-season?
Excellent day on the boat, John. I knew just by the title, that it was going to be epic. I was so excited about watching it. And you certainly didn’t disappoint. I could have watched for hours.
I’m glad that you enjoyed joining me.
Blessed with two videos today, happy days 👍 thanks for taking us along with you mate. Giants those 😯 🎣👏

Love your catch today with your colonial hydroid colony. Well done for coming across it and showing us. Fun stuff. Wow you had great day fishing.
Fascinating aren’t they. 😊👍🏻🎣
Lovely to see an expert at work. You are a great fisherman and your knowledge is fantastic. Thank you for sharing. Those fillets were amazing. Well done.
My pleasure mate.
The naturalist and the conservationist coming out from the fisherman ❤️
A proper fisherman or hunter is also a conservationist.
You make it look so easy John... Thanks for the upload mate.
Haha. It might look easy.
That’s just great fishing. Nice to see you return what you can. Lovely filleting, you kept the Gulls happy too. Just great.
Haha. To be fair that audience is easier to please than RUclips. 🤣
We’ve been out today too. Stayed off the wrecks. Hit into a massive shoal of mackerel. Was like fishing 20 years ago! All mackerel were rammed solid with tiny sand eels. Loads of nice sized bream. Fished the slack for tope to 35lb
James and I had some mackerel yesterday that were rammed full of tiny sandeels.
@@TheFishLocker the commercial ban on Sandeels is definitely helping numbers claw back to what they were years ago! We spent 10 minutes and had more than plenty for big baits and plenty for the BBQ! We could have easily filled a box in another 10 mins!
By The Wind Sailor, interesting little creature, in my 63 years on this planet, I've never heard of them.
Every day is a school day mate.
what a fantastic day on the water, nice to see the descender at work, that was the best display of its use I have ever seen.
As soon as the water clarity improves I am going to try and rig a waterproof camera record the fish swimming away.
Quality Content on its way.
💪🏻🎣
Thank you so much for the video! My prayers for you and your family were answered. You made a new video! I laughed in excitement and even cried a little when you lost that first one. Holy Father that WAS a donkey of a fish on the first one. All my best,
Fan happily from a distance,
Angie
Best wishes to you and your family Angie. Have a wonderful week.
Cracking start to the day, John. When the first fish is like that one was, the day is sorted! Hoping the fishing you had is reflected through this year.
Haha. Or all downhill from there? 🤣🤷🏻♂️
That was incredible, what a days fishing that was, gives inspiration to get out and get some lures in the water, superb content as usual John, thanks for sharing that with us all
My pleasure mate. Glad you enjoyed joining me.
.. your content and video production value always "reels me in". Great respect for the target species but care and attention to your gear. Thanks so much again. Cheers.

Well done John , you put a smile on all our faces with this one ! The bigger ones are not yet showing yet around the IOW but soon we hope. Love the light stuff, great fun.
The water quality here has just gone down hill so it’ll be a few more weeks until the fishing picks back up.
That was a damn fine days fishing John. It looked like good fun. Especially when fishing the jig. It was cool seeing you taking your time so they could go back down. It was good seeing the nice fillets at the end too.
I had a brilliant day, we don’t get many like that.
Days like that make up for all the blank or frustrating days! Great weather, great fishing. Never seen one of those Wind Sailors before, really interesting , another great video John.
Aye mate. Those great sessions are the ones you remember forever!!
Perfect as always. Thank you for showing the wind sailor and how you can use a descender to assist the fish back down. 😊 Those first two pollack were amazing
I have made a seperate video about the descenders, it’s on the workshop channel. 👍🏻
I usually enjoy your coastal foraging videos, but this one was very fun to watch! Thank you and keep doing what you do! Thanks to you I know way too much about Southwest England's marine ecosystem than I'd like to admit
Haha. You never know when that knowledge may come in handy. 😉👍🏻
I love your excitement about the environment and I appreciate your commitment to safety.
Thank you.
Great video John and plenty there to fill the freezer. The Wind Sailor is incredible too; thank you for the brief tutorial on it; very interesting. Tight lines, regards to you and your family and see you on the next one.
Thank you John and best wishes to you and your family. 👍🏻🎣
Great session as always John and they were stunning Pollock. You're making me feel quite hungry!
Prime quality eating fish. 😊🎣
Beautiful fish. Loved that you didn’t plunder the ocean by keeping more than what you needed.
We never do. I always try to promote conscientious harvesting. Taking only what you need.
What a great day’s fishing John, love it when a plan comes together. Always learn something from your videos 💪🎣🐟
Aye mate when it all comes together it’s a great feeling isn’t it. 😊👍🏻

Thank you John , my best to you and yours.
And to you John.
Hi John ... Terrific vid again sir, always showing everyone HOW to Fish down South so informative mate well done Cheers IAN
Have a good one mate.
Great video loved the filleting, it reminded me when i fished out from beer with my dad many years ago. The water was as flat as a lake, not a cloud in the sky,no land to be seen and the fishing was great.
Sounds like a great day at sea.
Great video and some lovely pollock there ,ill hopefully be out fishing in my sib in the next couple if weeks ,watching your videos gives me great tips thanks
Glad the videos help.
Wow that was amazing bit of sport with the lures. Loved the jellyfish never seen them before. Thanks for the info on them. Tight lines mate 😊😊

Hopefully get over your area and get advice on where best to launch boat from for a day's fishing.😁
Best of luck. 👍🏻🎣
Well what a fantastic video John & what a productive day it turned out to be with thee number of fish landed With some of them on a very light rig. The fish you kept provided some amazing sized fillets to. All in all you had such a productive session that produced some amazing fillets. I bet your thinking it was worthwhile 'getting out of bed' for a result like this. Well done mate. Cheers, Don from South Aust.
Haha. With such a beautiful day and such interesting sights even without the fish it’s always worth the effort.
‘Living the life’ is what I’d call this mate and you look like you’re thoroughly enjoying it. Good man 🫡
I love it!!
Really cool that you showed people how well the decenders can work. I wish everyone would take the time to use them.
Hopefully videos like this will encourage people to do that.
I am from Corpus Christi Texas and do a lot of fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and I love how the fishing in the North Atlantic around the UK and hope to do it one day. I find your videos very informative and relaxing keep up the good work
I hope you have good weather and good fortunes when you fish here. 😊👍🏻
Hi there,Neville from New Zealand. I don't watch many overseas fishing videos, as as you probably know, we have great fishing here. You are the exception as you are both entertaining and catch great fish. Thanks.
The calibre of fishing you guys get down there has me green with envy!!!
Hi, John. What a miracle that you had an almost windless trip offshore until late afternoon. Given all the wind you've had to put up with this spring, you richly deserved a day of what we former swordfish harpooners referred to as "flat-ass calm." And those big pollock! If I can find even ONE that size in my planned hunts for pollock this summer, I'll be thrilled. Stay safe, Chris (Maine, USA)
Days like this are that small weather window as the wind changes direction between blows. This spring sure has been a windy one. 🤣🤷🏻♂️
Nice one. I really like the addition of the sounder screen shots. It really helps explaining how the Descender works. Great explanation.
Thank you very much. I am going to try and get some underwater video of the device working as soon as the water clarity improves. 👍🏻
