A very jealous Cornish fisherman that now lives in Bulgaria, far from the sea, would like to congratulate you on your fishing and your RUclips journey!
You have come so far since the beginning and its great to see you making a huge a success of your passion 👏🏼
So many elements in your videos now that I can't even begin to highlight individual segments.
From hook to plate, tackle knowledge, boating skills, diving pleasures, safety, conservation, shore, reef and boat, educated.....the list goes on.
The way you go about your fishing is admirable.
You respect the environment and the catch.
You are knowledgeable and pass that knowledge on.
You dont take for granted what you are lucky enough to have surrounding you.
    You are entertaining whilst informative.
Beyond that, you are a pleasure to watch and learn from!
Im not one for leaving comments normally but some things you just cant leave without giving kudos to those that put so much time and effort into giving us a glimpse into their world.
Pretty awesome and im not just talking about the fishing 😉
    May it long continue 👏🏼

I'm a new watcher, just found you in the last week and been watching from Melbourne, Australia. You've inspired me to set up a beach day with friends and look up the marine laws here and learn a bit about our local environment while we check out our rock-pools. I grew up watching Les Hiddins and you two have a lot in common. I'm blown away by how you know all the Latin names and how your channel remains so wholesome. All this to say your efforts are greatly appreciated and maybe the haters are more likely to comment but there are a lot of us who silently watch and love the message that you bring.
I did laugh when I heard you say that Aussies will be cringeing when I put my hands into these caves and crannies in the rock pools. You're damn right about that!

      @Snorrbitz 7 месяцев назад +3

@@TheFishLocker Unfortunately that is how it is. I prefer to strive to become more like those that are successful than being jealous of the fact that they are.
I'm sure you're strong enough to ignore the hate and use all the positivity to motivate you and continue on your journey 👍🏼
If I ever return to Cornwall I will have to try and catch you for a fishing lesson 😉
Keep up the great work, I'm already looking forward to your next video 🧐😁

Another great video; when you filleted those fish it took me back to my hotel chef days; a cut accross the fillet was called a 'supreme', in French, a cut across the whole round fish was a 'darne', and a cut across a large flat fish was a 'troncon'. We would grill the halibut troncons with an anchovy or parlsey butter, deep fry the supreme of cod/ pollock etc in a salt and vinegar batter. So delicious, and I hope you and the family get to try a few of the old recipes,....they're well worth it. Best, Tim.

I like your concern for the welfare of the catch. I learned of the descender in Australia about 15 years ago, and made my own. My boat was based in the Isle of Man, and the fishing was similar to what you had on this trip- a fish evry drop! With the descender, I'd let the fish sit about half way down, ond more offen than not, they'd just sod off when they were ready .Then I found a few marks where fish of a good size were lurking in shallower water, so no more barotrauma -I've had that with me ears, and it bloody well knacks! All went back to fight another day, this pleased my catch and release sensibilities. Love your vlogs, they make me miss my boat more each time I watch.

My one, and only, attempt at sea fishing was that years ago, me and my mate Mac, went on a coach trip from Derby to Bridlington for a day's sea fishing. The boat hadn't got out of the harbour before Mac started spewing his ring up over the side, and he was like that for the whole trip. I was spewing for about an hour or so before I dot my "sea legs". We were " jigging" for herring and I never had a single bite let alone catch a fish. You make it look dead easy ya bugger! 😄😄👍👍

Catch and release of fresh fish is a must to secure many years of nice catches. I practice C&R, sending back the big ones, progenitors of future giants (I hope).

Well what a fantastic video John & what a productive day it turned out to be with thee number of fish landed With some of them on a very light rig. The fish you kept provided some amazing sized fillets to. All in all you had such a productive session that produced some amazing fillets. I bet your thinking it was worthwhile 'getting out of bed' for a result like this. Well done mate. Cheers, Don from South Aust.

Hi, John. What a miracle that you had an almost windless trip offshore until late afternoon. Given all the wind you've had to put up with this spring, you richly deserved a day of what we former swordfish harpooners referred to as "flat-ass calm." And those big pollock! If I can find even ONE that size in my planned hunts for pollock this summer, I'll be thrilled. Stay safe, Chris (Maine, USA)
