@@iloveme567 …she is getting friends & family members who qualify for the program to apply, & then she buys the 1$ houses from that person & she resales it for more..,sometimes she allows the family member to keep the house but because she personally approves them for the program they have to give her a kickback for approving them…it’s a scam & a journalist just found public records of Tiff having a active LLC real estate company started 10 years ago…under another name but she is listed as corporate manager it’s all public records…she is is getting her friends to apply for the dollar houses & she buys the house from them under that secret real estate company & she resales it for waaaay more..,.basically she approves the 1$ houses for her friends & family who have applied & she resales the houses for more of course🙄one of the trustees was asking tiff to see the info on who all gets approved for the 1$ houses because the trustees have been hearing from the streets that tiff has been promising 1$ houses to lots of people before hand… the trustees know what she is up to.. that’s why they wont approve the program… trustees said there are over 60 houses with questionable info & paperwork from the last housing program .. so the trustees won’t approve the program because they know tiff is scamming the program..sorry for the rambling but i been watching every report on this unhinged mentally unstable Mayor

As a retired Certified Fraud Examiner, this issue of selling a house for $1 raises a red flag. Without a public bidding, this could be a situation where "facilitation payments" (aka bribes) are paid to someone in the city staff to get a house without competitive bids. That is also called no-bid selling, which is a red flag. WHERE IS THE COUNTY OR STATE AUDITORS. She would already be ousted and investigated like they do here in Florida.

Usually, a house can be taken by the city or county for nonpayment of taxes over a period of time, or the bank takes it back after a period of time as a foreclosure.
For nonpayment of taxes, it goes to auction.
For foreclosure, the bank takes the property and sells it.

Renovations cost. Baltimore has a program like this. A $1 house may need Hundreds of thousands of dollars in construction work. People will need capital to pay for renovations. You must know what you are doing when you buy distressed property. With current interest rates this is a challenge for many people. Will the house be appraised for a dollar?
Seems backwards to me. Existing residents should get the sweetheart deal for $1, and the investors who are the ones w/the $$$, should be paying the $5,000.

Baltimore did something similar many years back. Not sure how successful it was as there are still plenty of vacant dilapidated homes in some neighborhoods. But with Bolton, the property taxes are insane. I could see someone buying their 5k home and later on, the city appraising it at some ridiculous amount and those people getting hit with a huge yearly tax they can’t afford.
