Enjoyed your video very much.... thanks. To answer your question, I'm an old guy (67) who bought a Trident past summer and going to get a ST RS (same yellow 😉) this spring. Lol
Nice video. My 24 STRS is also right over 1000 miles. It's been a great bike and excited to see further support. Really looking forward to some tuning options. Not sure if you've had the same issue with your bike, but I have the the previous generation header with a Yoshimura AT2 exhaust. Sometimes when coming to a stop at lower RPMs, the bike will just die (doesn't happen all the time). I'm guessing the AFR"s are just messed up with the different exhaust set up, so hoping a tune can smooth it out. Otherwise been really enjoying it.
I was going to ask about the exhaust and the decat. Can you remap to allow for that? How do you stop from getting a error code for the cat not being present?
@@trevorphillips3055 If you use the prior generation header, there is still a cat present. It's a bit smaller than the cat that comes with the stock, one-piece exhaust, but it's better than nothing. No error codes as the O2 sensor is still plugged in. Currently there are no tuning options available, so this is probably the best route at the moment. Aftermarket full-system exhausts (SC Project, Spark, etc) remove the cat which means the bike will run super lean and could cause damage without a tune.
Thanks, I had the issue before I added the slip on. If i cut the throttle quick at a high rpm while pulling in the clutch it would die. I think its a tune issue... meaning its on the lean side from the factory. Its happened about 3 times.
As you said, these new bikes run lean and the minute you changed that exhaust you changed a few things in the fuel equation. I think that is what causes the problem. As to the starting problem, my MT09 used to do the same from time to time. I changed my battery to a lithium ferrite polymer equivalent and the problem went away. It never started healthier. Btw, I’m 56 turning 57 next September and getting a red RS for my birthday. Why not?
Why not, is right. We are not here for a long time, just a good time. Thanks for the tip, I will look into a different battery. The issue came up when the bike was stock also, I do agree they come from the factory very lean.
I am at 600 miles on my brand new 2024 RS and I agree with you all the way I haven’t tried the shut off problem you’re having mainly because I downshift I don’t use the clutch at that speed in that way. I’m still learning the quick shifter and prefer not to use it down shifting yet. I traded my Fz 07 for this.
I see you did cruise control. 😂 I did the same thing. I added tpms and heated grips too. I have a sprint f1-85 air filter and spark exhaust. The heated grips are great for when it’s 50-60 out. Btw I’m 38yo and love this bike.
Hi Ken, enjoying you reviews! Picking mine up in a couple of weeks can’t wait! Think the average age of bike buyers in uk is late 50s! Keep going mate! 🍻
As regards the TFT on the new RS I couldn't agree more with you, I've owned all three of the 765 RSs and found the TFT on the first RS quite good but the bike itself lacked the mid-range punch of the R, the TFT on the second RS (2020 to 2022) was a backwards step but the lack of mid range grunt had been successfully addressed, then came the new for 2023 RS which is in my opinion not just the best ever street triple but the best ever Triumph, which I'm pleased to see many biking journalists agree with, the only blot being the crap TFT which it's hard to believe could be any worse, the original (2017) was quite good but since has degenerated, I know the TFT is minor when compared to the bike as a whole which is IMO a brilliant bike but all Triumph have to do is look at the TFTs on BMWs which they've perfected, I love the improvements Triumph have made on the RS as I really didn't think it was possible to eke out more power in conjunction with sharper handling but somehow they've managed it, that TFT is the ONLY fault I can find with a great bike. hopefully Triumph will sort out the TFT as there's not a single other thing I'd change on the RS.
G'day Ken. What a combination to have! Life's good, bike's great and the weather is spot-on. You my friend are living the dream, as it should be. Glad that you have taken so well to the Trumpy, as I'm sure it's going to be a shitload of fun everytime you take it out for a run. Pretty sure that you will eradicate that 1% issue in time, and also with it running lean. Never too old to do anything that you want to brother, including having a bright yellow Trumpy!🤔😂. Finally picked up my RE 650 Interceptor and said my goodbyes to the fjr13. Like yourself mate, grip puppies straight on along with a few other accessories. still waiting on the bar end mirrors to rock up, and then she's nearly done. 47hp downhill with a stiff breeze behind you is so exciting, because I almost catch up with the schoolbus at the bottom of the hill!!🤣🤣. Only kidding brother, I get nowhere it! LOL. Fast enough and also lighter which is a big thing for me at the moment, and I am happy to be able to keep riding. I think I missed a video, so I'll duck back and watch it shortly. Thanks for the ride and the conversation as usual brother, so have fun and stay safe.
Hey Andy, I know it was tough to let the FJR go, but at least you are still riding. I often think do I really need a fast bike, I do like the 650 Interceptor, it so 70's and 80's with the classic British style. Who knows what my future is with bikes, I know I will have to slow down eventually, I do see myself on a classic British style bike someday. Until then, I will enjoy the days I have ripping up the roads, and thank God I have been so blessed.
Nice review! I just sold my 2018 Street R which I loved and am looking at this bike now. Two questions I had though. First, did you reflash the ECU for that slip on exhaust ? Maybe that’s why it’s running lean? I had a Competition Werkes exhaust on My 2013 Street S and it ran horrible until I reflashed the ECU and even then, it ran better stock IMO. Lastly, with the new higher compression ratio on this generation Street versus my 2018 Street R, do you find that it has been running hot during this summer so far? My old 13’ Street S 675 would click up close to 9 bars on the temp scale during a hot day and esport a stoplight. Just wondering if you noticed the temp gauge creeping up towards the top on a hot day? Enjoy the bike! It’s beautiful in that metallic gold/yellow. I’m waiting for your exact color to come into my dealership so I can test it. Already rode the new Street R and loved the power and more upright position, but hated that cheap R dash and cheaper handlebar switch gear.
Thanks... The bikes runs lean from the factory, I'm guessing for the euro 5 crap. I'm over 2500 miles and the issue has not come back for over 1500 miles. A slip on does not make much of a difference as far as being lean. I still have the cat and factory headers. I have to hand it to Triumph, the fueling is fantastic, no jerkiness... very smooth on the throttle inputs. I will reflash when DNK releases their tune... always looking for a little more power. I was out last week for a day trip, 350 miles with temps in the upper 80's and felt no uncomfortable heat, and the engine temp stayed consistent, even when stuck in traffic. The RS dash has some nice features, but the tach is trash. The switch gear is a good upgrade, and needed if you want to add cruise control. I like the RS for the color, brakes and upgraded suspension. Over all it is a fantastic machine, so much fun to ride... no regrets.
@@Yo-Ken Thanks for the reply. I agree with the tachometer display comment but I only test rode the regular R in the new Street. I'm waiting for my dealer to get their next RS in to try it out. The R TFT really sucked-cheapened up from my old 18' Street R which was much nicer. They should have just kept the half analog/half digital display from my old 13' Street on there! Glad to hear there were no temp issues on the new bike with the higher compression ratio. That was one of the things Triumph did with my 18' Street was to lower the compression ratio for better temperature control. Enjoy the bike!
I'm turning 43 this month. Bought my very first bike 3 months ago. A used Leoncino 500. It is fun and very useable bike. I thought I'd use it for a couple of years, to learn and get used to riding, but I have retroactively changed the purpose of the bike. What can I say, I'm a fast learner haha. Now I tell myself I used it to test the waters, if riding is for me. And it is. So I am going to sell my little lion and get a Street Triple. Ever since I laid my eyes on this arguably ugly bike (previous gen), it has become a dream naked bike for me. And the current styling is just great. You can look good riding the bike in sporty gear or more casual styled riding gear. From everything I've seen the only thing it doesn't really do well is fast lengthy highway riding (for obvious reasons). It seems to be very versatile. I can only afford the R, but as the dealer only had an RS (in that beautiful yellow!) to test ride I took that out for a spin.
Hi ken, really interesting on the cut out issue, 1k miles on mine now and not experienced this. About to get a base line dyno run soon and fit a full system so be interesting to see if that changes.. . nice little vids though and great to watch someone with the same bike over the pond! You’re definitely not old, my dad would have been 72 this year and would have loved this street RS, although maybe a touch physically small for him. Also, agree on the brakes, 1 finger braking is easy. Have my first track day booked with this bike this week and can’t wait to really let her shine. 👍🏻😎😃🤘🏻💛
Thanks man, and so sorry to here your dad is not with us. I haven't had an issue for about 500 miles, I'm at 1300 right now. Could you please update me on the dyno results, I'm waiting on DNK to release their tune. I'm thinking its a lean issue, it would only happen if I cut the throttle very quickly from high rpm. Also, please update me on your track day. I would much rather here from a viewer on what its like around the track than a pro rider.
In the US there is no tune available, the inscription has not be broken yet. European models have tunes available, but I have not found one reputable company in the US for tuning. I use DNK tuning for my Triumphs, a good company with good results. They said they would contact me as soon as they crack the ECU.
@johnklein6322 it's for the 23 model... I would be skeptical of them. Another triumph rider ask about the 24 model... they said they should be able to do it... doesn't sound like they have tuned one before.
The cut off and having trouble starting after a ride sounds like the MAP recall Triumph has on the Trident. I wouldn't be able to start in 1st after a ride.
I’m over 1000 miles, as well. So far I haven’t experienced the engine cutting off. Two people are reporting this phenomenon and both have modified their bikes with different headers (cats) and after market exhausts. Coincidence?
No have not, I took a little preload out of the rear shock and set the shocks according to the manual in the comfort settings. I keep the tire pressure on the low side... 30-31 rear 28-29 front. it works for me, it may not work for others.
Hi Ken- Wanted to say your not old for the bike- I've got a Moto 2 edition and on a Facebook enthusiast group it seems a good percentage of the owners are older. 😉. I should also mention a bunch of your videos helped me in mods like replacing the awful US blinkers. BT-Moto also mentioned that they can tune the 24 bikes now....Got my tuner from them and just waiting for break-in miles
Thanks man, appreciate that. I'm glad I was able to help. What color Moto... I like the green. I looked at BT Moto, and it only shows 2023 model. I contacted DNK, still waiting for an answer.
@@Yo-Ken I got the racing yellow. I emailed BT and asked since I had an unused tuner device from them. They replied that they can tune the 2024 but I had to order a different cable. I actually confirmed in a 2nd email that it was a 24 and they replied they can indeed tune it. DNK is close to where I live and flashed a couple bikes for me but I did't ask Danielle since I had a tuner from BT. I sent an email to her just now and will update this thread with any response.
@@tyyamamoto I thought that was green... its called racing yellow... lol. I have used DNK in the past and was impressed with there tunes. If you here anything please let me know... Thanks.
@@Yo-Ken Now I get the "green' comment 🤣Yes, DNK has great tunes! Here is the email response I got this morning, "We are currently awaiting TuneECU's update to allow for programming of the bike's ECU. THey enabled diagnostics last month during an update, but until they allow for programming, us, and anybody else hoping to tune the new Moto2 are in a holding pattern. Sadly, that's the only new Triumph bike of Triumph we are currently unable to handle. Once we do get access, we have a list of folks we will contact about going forward with tuning. Would you want to be on that list?"
Great update, I notice you have some grip puppies and larger bar end weights, is this due to the vibes through the bars? This is something I really struggle with on mine Cheers
Thanks... The grip puppies are to make the grips thicker. I have big hands, and thin grips are uncomfortable for me. The bar end weights were for the mirror vibrations when the engines revs are over 5200. They are little better, but not a big improvement, and yes you will feel a little less vibs with the grip puppies. I don't find the vibs to be an issue, but these two things might make it a little better for you.
30 rear 28 front? damn that's low. Maybe I should try that haha. Also, be careful on the LV exhaust. the 2024s do not have a specific bracket that allow it to bolt up. It doesn't use the rear set like the Yoshi does. Ask me how I know :/ Also, what's your mic setup?
It does seem low for tire pressure, but for me it gave me a nice ride with great handling. Thanks, I know about the bracket issue, I will fab something up. How did you like the sound or did you not use it? I use the DJI wireless mic, it was a game change for me. www.dji.com/mic
@@Yo-Ken I ended up returning the LV.. The bracket was like $80 to order from triumph (there's like 4 parts that goes with it) and I didn't want to wait for them to come from Europe. Ahhh, ive tried 3 different mics (cheap ones) and theyre all letting me down. Guess I just need to bite the bullet on wireless already :/
@@rwdconnor I can fab something up, but I just found the bracket on ebay for $22. The DJI mic is a game changer, I think you will love it. They have two options, a double mic for I Think $330 and a single mic for like $200. Its expensive, but I think worth it.
@@Yo-Ken That's lucky! haha yep, I opted for the single mic option to try it out.. If it's perfect then I'll return and grab the 2 mic variant. Only bummer is the one mic option doesn't come with the charging case. Which I guess is fine if the battery life is long
Nice video! I have the same bike. I also think the dash is trash. All I want is… an easy to read tachometer. How have you adjusted to this problem? Do you know what is max speed first gear and then shift? I have everything stock, including the exhaust. So I’m gonna have to practice perfect shifting at 12,000 rpm’s. Keep up the great content Bro, and ride safe.
Thanks... I have not got use to the tach... its pretty much useless. It's almost a feel for me now. As far as mph... 60 in first 80 in second and 100 in third seems to work well.
I’m would love to see ya ride this one on the way to the top of Mt Lemmon here in AZ…. Lotsa turns😉😉. That’s where I took GSA to scrub my tires…yup failed🤣🤣 Good stuff Ken glad you love the bike!!👌👌
@@Yo-Ken it’s going from a GS to and old school Caddy!! The GSA is to actually go places on the other side of the planet whereas the GS is the hooligan one…😄
Almost bought one of these i actually was looking at the Moto 2 edition and would probably would have if the dealership weren't buttholes 🤷♂️ seems like a great bike my only issue would be the no front fairing and no wind protection. Enjoy that thing
For highway touring its not the best for most riders. Wind does not bother me much, but then again its not a bike I ride long distance. Dealers, don't get me started... I hate dealing with the them. I'm amazed they stay is business they way they treat customers. I had a good dealer in Jersey, but that's rare.
I set the shocks to the comfort settings according to the owner manual. Front rebound 5.5, compression 7... Rear rebound 20 compression 20. Front preload left alone, rear preload took 1 1/2 turns out which is not in the owners manual, from what I read they don't want you to change the rear preload. Works well for my weight, 165lbs.
@@ridepastu1418 2500 miles, tires are wearing well, looks like I will get 5000 plus on a sport tire, thats pretty good in my book. Also the bike grips hard no matter how hard I lean or push it. Tire pressure is like oil, everyone has a different view whats best. Manufactures give a recommendation for the average rider. I'm light, the bike is light and lower tire pressure work for me. I have done it on all my bikes without issues.
Yes, I use the large number rpm read out, but it is not much help. I'm so use to a large sweeping tach, (this comes from me drag racing cars for over 40 years) its hard to get use to the new graphics. Over time I will get use to it, trying to go by feel or how the engine sounds just before I hit the rev limiter.
@@RadDadisRad Yes it happened a few times when the bike was new. No more issues like that. I mostly blip it down without the clutch when slowing, but sometimes if I stop real hard and pull the clutch from a high rpm while chopping the throttle it would stall.
Possible, but I can live with it. If you listen to my tone, I'm very up beat about the triple. And yes it could be all my doing, but I had this when it was stock. Only reason I mention it is to inform others there may me a problem. I hope its just my riding style and they way I push the engine that causes it. For me, its really not that big of an issue, it may be for others. One more thing, I always modifying bikes that I own, and know that issues can come up when you mod.... I take full responsibility, and don't blame anyone but myself.

Nice bike. I was considering 1. Did you ever find a good tuner for it? I only see 2 places, 1 super expensive, the other not very good reviews.
In the US there is no tune available, the inscription has not be broken yet. European models have tunes available, but I have not found one reputable company in the US for tuning. I use DNK tuning for my Triumphs, a good company with good results. They said they would contact me as soon as they crack the ECU.
@Yo-Ken brentune is supposed to have a tune but it's like 900$
@johnklein6322 it's for the 23 model...
The bike has been perfect for the last 4 months. No more issues, it seemed to go away around the 1000 mile mark.... I'm at 3500 miles now.
@@Yo-Ken I will be upgrading to it. Maybe if a good used one pops up next year, or wait to see if there are any changes on the next model update.
I’m over 1000 miles, as well. So far I haven’t experienced the engine cutting off. Two people are reporting this phenomenon and both have modified their bikes with different headers (cats) and after market exhausts. Coincidence?
Possible, but I experienced it when the bike was stock with only a few hundred miles.
Probably needs a remap
My stock 24 STR RS cut off twice and I have about 170 miles so far.
@@bucrx7 Did you take it to the dealer to get it checked out? I haven’t experienced this issue, knock on wood.
@@ZabDevin Not yet. I'll wait for my first service and see how many more times it'll happen.
Have u posted a vid about adjusting suspention settings ? I just started playing with mine may try tire pressures next time
No have not, I took a little preload out of the rear shock and set the shocks according to the manual in the comfort settings.
@Ty Yamamoto Cool... as long as there is something in the works.
Great update, I notice you have some grip puppies and larger bar end weights, is this due to the vibes through the bars? This is something I really struggle with on mine
Cheers
@@Yo-Ken thanks for the reply, keep up the great updates you provide 👍
What is the model of the rear luggage you are using? Thanks
www.nelsonrigg.com/motorcycle-luggage/sport-touring/commuter_lite-detail
30 rear 28 front? damn that's low. Maybe I should try that haha.
Also, be careful on the LV exhaust. the 2024s do not have a specific bracket that allow it to bolt up. It doesn't use the rear set like the Yoshi does. Ask me how I know :/
Also, what's your mic setup?
@@Yo-Ken That's lucky! haha
yep, I opted for the single mic option to try it out..
That’s where I took GSA to scrub my tires…yup failed🤣🤣
Good stuff Ken glad you love the bike!!👌👌
That would be an epic trip. How is the new GS treating you.
What changes did you make to the suspension?
I set the shocks to the comfort settings according to the owner manual. Front rebound 5.5, compression 7... Rear rebound 20 compression 20. Front preload left alone, rear preload took 1 1/2 turns out which is not in the owners manual, from what I read they don't want you to change the rear preload. Works well for my weight, 165lbs.
Hello. Ask your dealer for software updates. Maybe they were doing a service. Regards
I did, no updates according to the dealer. The less I have to deal with them the better.
Wait, 28 in the back, 30 in the front? Is that tire pressure that you’re referring to.
Yes... It's lower than what Triump suggests, but it works well for the way I ride.
@@Yo-Ken I’d look more into that. I usually run 34f 33 to 40 r cold. I’d look into that, something doesn’t sound right
@@ridepastu1418 2500 miles, tires are wearing well, looks like I will get 5000 plus on a sport tire, thats pretty good in my book. Also the bike grips hard no matter how hard I lean or push it. Tire pressure is like oil, everyone has a different view whats best. Manufactures give a recommendation for the average rider. I'm light, the bike is light and lower tire pressure work for me. I have done it on all my bikes without issues.
I notice you’re using the large rev counter on your display. It’s very easy to read. You still don’t like it? 🤨
@@Yo-Ken Got it. You’re the man!
For the downshifting issue that you’re having I don’t clutch unless started/stopping. I use the quick shifter for everything while moving.
I don't have any issues downshifting. Only time i use the clutch is start stop.
@@Yo-Ken oh you said you had problems clutching and closing the throttle and it stalling.
@@RadDadisRad Yes it happened a few times when the bike was new. No more issues like that. I mostly blip it down without the clutch when slowing, but sometimes if I stop real hard and pull the clutch from a high rpm while chopping the throttle it would stall.
I’m 67 and I just bought my 24 RS. My riding buddy will be 69 and he has an R.
Dam, I feel like youngster now.... good deal, how is it so far?
You’re taking 1% off for a ‘mechanical issue’ that you created? 🧐
@@Yo-Ken I can respect that. 💯

Ken where on earth is that place bro 😂 ? It looks like a movie set 🎥 😂😂 I saw like 2 cars!! 😂 if you lived in the Uk that road would be a traffic jam!! The bikes awesome man ! The Yellow is popping 🎉
I live in North Carolina, just south of Raleigh the capitol. Raleigh has lots of traffic, just the the UK, but once you get out, the roads are quite and scenic with lots of farm land. Even better if you go west.
