      Should've tried the XSR 900. it feels a little more planted than the MT09. in my opinion. because it has a longer swing arm. but if I didn't find my beautiful 2nd hand Ducati 939 Supersport. I probably would've looked for a 765 RS. even though I would like it more if it had wind protection. at least an upper fairing. or a full wind screen.

    Awesome bike! As a former 2020 owner and having tried this one I have been really impressed. That said, I don’t like having the Supercorsa as standard, for daily riding I immediately had the tires swapped for a more usable feeling. Too scary in wet and/or winter weather ✌️

But yeah like I said every time i ride mine I just keep thinking to myself it’s just a waste of a bike 180 bhp cos in second gear it’s already at the speed limit which is about 10% of its potential, I kinda wish I’d just waited for the Street triple 😂😂😂

    Nice one. I rode a new Street Triple RS back in 2017 and felt it quite manic in that you had to rev it to get it to go, above 8-9k revs it flew but you are doing license and life losing speeds at this point. I think it red lines around 13-13.5k revs. Screaming the engine in 2nd or 3rd gears is of no interest to me. I prefer low down torque to shove you along. I also felt it was quite flighty. Found it quite tiring to ride. I had it for nearly a whole day. Didn't really gel with it. But maybe since 2017 Triumph have done a lot of work on it.
    I preferred the Speed Triple 1050 RS as you know Angus. I tried the 1200 Speed Triple RS and you are dead right it is too fast for the road. The handling was sublime so easy to turn, but the ride was a little too hard. Maybe this could be softened as I am not the heaviest. You also had to rev it like the smaller Street Triple RS to get the engine to come alive which meant you were well into license and life losing territory on the roads.
    What's the price? I know I can look on Triumph's website.
    Some Triumph dealers are doing the 1200 Speed Triple RS for around £13.5k which is a massive discount off the price when Triumph launched them. I guess they haven't been selling well. I must admit I am not keen on the recent display options on Triumph's TFTs. Too gimmicky. I just want simple dial format of speed and rev counter, gear indicator, fuel level, fuel range, all the basic info clearly visible without thinking where the hell is it? That extra second you spend searching on the TFT screen could be critical.
    Nevertheless will check one out in a nearby dealer and maybe get a ride.
    Definitely a rival for the KTM 790 Duke. Rode that bike 2 years ago. Awesome.
    That pheasant had a death wish. Maybe it was a spy sent by Aprilia or KTM to derail your rest ride? LoL.
    Thanks for your review. ;@).

      @redangrevival  Год назад +1

      £11,295
      Yes I think Triumph have done quite a lot of work on it since 2017! It feels very agile but planted now, not flighty at all 👍
      Also they have shortened the gears so you can actually rev it out and not be breaking the sound barrier! Really works well on road.
      I would usually opt for the torquier bike, however this Street Triple has won me over. Just dreamy!
      Haha yes perhaps the pheasant was working undercover 😂
      Cheers

    I traded in my 2020 RS for the 2023 model in cosmic yellow and have been amazed that Triumph could improve what was already a great bike by such a margin, the handling's sharper but still planted and the low to mid range acceleration is really pepped up by the shorter gearing, the ride is also plusher, the only slight gripe I have is the TFT which I find too cluttered and IMO the one on the R (also on the Trident and Tiger 660) although simpler does everything that's required but overall it's a superb machine and I agree with Bike magazine who called it "the best bike Triumph have ever built".

  • @photographerjonathan

    I test road a yellow RS yesterday. I really love the bike except for a couple of things. the display could be better. and most of all I wish it had a full fairing. I was wearing a 3/4 helmet and I had the strap a little to loose. and when I got up around 140 kilometer. which is around 86mph the helmet literally lifted off of my head and was only held on by the strap around my throat. so you have a bike that is capable of doing 150 mph. but even at 86 mph you are being hammered by the wind. so any high speed riding would have to be in little spurts. but if it had a full fairing you could actually really enjoy that top end. the breaks on the bike are top notch. and the combination of it feeling composed most of the time but also feeling super light is really nice. in really slow traffic you can idle the bike in first gear and the engine does fine. no gagging or buckling or whatever you call it. I own a 2017 Ducati 939 Supersport and I love everything about the bike. it has similar ergonomics to the RS but with a fairing. but the 939 does not like being at 2000 rpm and doesn't want to idle along in any gear at those rpm's the twin engine wants to get above 3000 rpm. but the bike has more low end and midrange punch then the RS. but I think the RS is overall a faster bike if you are just flying through the gears with the quick shifter at high rpm's. but to me the biggest advantage to the RS is how great of a city bike it would be because it feels like you are maneuvering a small light bike like a Ninja 400 when you are going between cars at low speeds. its an amazing combination of light weight but still stable. but not quite as stable as my 939. I will be keeping my eyes out for a 2nd hand yellow one which I might start to see maybe a year from now. I also tested a Trident. Speed Twin 1200, and the 900 Tiger I think it's called. and inside the dealership they had one of the top model 765's with the clip on bars. but it said sold on it. where I live the Triumph Street Triple RS is a $14.000 dollar bike. that is why I will be keeping my eye out for a second hand one. because I wouldn't mind owning one for a second nice bike. and I love different engine styles. so I would eventually like to own a triple to go along with my V twin. and also an inline four would be cool. if I can get a house with a garage there are probably five bikes I would like to eventually own.

    Great review. As a sports bike for the road, which would you go for between this and the new Hornet. I don't doubt this is probably the better bike, but when you take the price difference into consideration, its a closer call.

      Just been revisiting the video, as I'm seriously thinking about one of these. My big question would be, if you don't do track days and just want a road bike, is the RS worth spending the extra £1700 on over the R model. At the moment, I'm thinking I could get the R with a few factory accessories and still have quite a bit of change. The colours are much better on the RS, but I'm not sure I want to spend all that extra money just for that, and I'm not sure I'm a good enough rider to notice the other improvements. What with your view be?

  • @nigelfisher3756
    @nigelfisher3756 Год назад

    Thanks for the review. Sounds like a great bike, dynamically, but the issue for me would be the front-end looks and insufficient torque for occasional lazy, relaxed riding days. I need to buy with both head & heart and whilst it’s a very good road bike (and great track bike) I’m not sure if I could live with the looks, torque deficiency and Triumph’s slightly worrying reliability and service costs. Also, why is everyone obsessed with quickshifters? Again, great for a track day for that extra half second, but on UK roads too many speed cameras and potholes to warrant one ( unless, as I say, you use the track). The roads looked very wet & greasy but was still surprised by the amount of crud over the rear suspension given it had a hugger fitted. Overall, a lovely bike, great handling, super soundtrack and well made but not without a few flaws. Would be good see this against a Hornet 750.

      It is my pleasure 👍 I am the same, I would usually opt for the torquier bike. However this new Street Triple has won me over, an absolute peach! The shorter gearing helps a lot.
      The QS is so much fun and I would always have one given the option. I don't care about the extra speed, it is just so nice to use 😁
      Personally I think this bike would blitz the new Hornet (not considering price).
