Agreed, they're mostly all so big, the z mount lenses. My old ais and d series are tiny compared! I get it's all about optics but it's not firing me up
@@jorgepinogarciadelasbayonas "Loud" as in what I heard on Ricci's copy in his latest preview vid. Enough noise to get picked up on a lav or mounted mic. Louder than some F lenses
@@KTtv1991 Ahh didn't realize it was metal mount. I scored the 28 2.8 for $135 new at best buy during their clearance 'sale' they had during the holidays so it's really hard to even consider a 26. The pancake looks cute, but the 28 feels damn good in the hands.
Other than the size is there any reason that this would be a go to over the 28mm 2.8? I was looking in to the 28 last week, but I like this one. However is almost double the price really worth it?
More of your thoughts on this please Taylor! I'm in a quandary, I just want something small for my Z5 and I don't want to spend my money on a lens with a plastic mount. I started out zoning in on the Voigtlander 40mm f1.2, then I wondered this 26mm. Ultimately I'd go for both...
That Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 is on my short list . I’ll have both it and the Nikon 40f/2.0 . The Nikon only has 6 elements and great microcontrast and beautiful rendering. Now I’m wondering if this 26 is better or same-ish to the Nikon 28 f/2.8 Z . To me the 28 needs to morph into an f/2.0 in time with Nikons crc technology and as low of an element count as possible. Make it an artsy lens with some character
You need the 45mm 2.8P for your nikon fm3a if you still have it. It's underrated and performes better than said to be.
Looks so cute, love this len"s colors, old film style old taste
I really wish your video had more sample photos taken with this lens
Kinda want a short 50mm from Nikon.
Agreed, they're mostly all so big, the z mount lenses. My old ais and d series are tiny compared! I get it's all about optics but it's not firing me up
Nikkor 50mm 2.8 mc is much smaller. But i agree something smaller :)
I just want it. I've stopped trying to justify.
It’s a nice one. I love that they made it
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto It'll be nice to....I don't know. Round out the kit? Does that sound right?
Get a canon or Sony or Linux if you want a real camera…
@@izakphotos5164 Did your mummy teach you how to be so clever?
@@izakphotos5164 Shhhhhhhhhh. No need for that.
Would you say the image quality is on a high level ?
Yes. Better than 28 F2.8
Overwhelming better
The size of this lens reminds me of the Zeiss 35mm 2.8 lens for Sony
This lens is fantastic sharper than the Nikon 28mm 2.8 the tinder is special like the Voigtlander lens on my z5
Also a great lens for the Zfc, Z30, Z50 which are already small cameras.
I enjoy street photography and would love to have this. But I want a FF Zfc for the aesthetics and this would be great on it.
Yeah a ZF would be a bit hit I reckon....
With the hood and cap, isn’t this essentially the same size as the 28mm? I still like it and I’m considering trading in my 28.
unrelated, can you tell me how to change the CMOS backup battery on the d750, currently my camera requires setting the time when it is turned on.
Hey, on the copy you have, did you find the focusing/focus motors very noisy?
Not noisy enough to show up on the lav I had on my chest. I don’t remember any noise to be honest. I also only had this lens for a few minutes
Ricci did his first look at it and boy the AF was soooo loud! Maybe it was just his copy. 🤔
@@nerwin Being "loud" can be very subjective for each person. What defines loud? We can measure that in dB which would be more accurate.
@@nerwin Ya that's why I'm asking (I saw Ricci's), curious to see what other copies are like

This lens on the Nikon Z5 would be awesome also this lens on the Nikon Z50 and Nikon Zfc would be great
Besides dimensions and a thin hair length larger viewing area, what does this offer that the Z 28mm f/2.8 doesn't?
metal mount and better build i guess

It's a real pancake lens which was a design challenge.
@@shoopSAUCEI have the 28 also and really can’t figure out if I actually need this 26. The 28 is already so light
Is it smaller than the 50mm f1.8 ais pancake?
It definitely looks funny on the Z9 😂 I’d throw that on my Z7II for sure.

26mm and 39mm in crop nice and tiny, maybe just the size I suppose. Could be nice on a Z30.
A piece of small treasure.

Mirrorless’ smallest af lens.
Its not quiet at all. The AF is very noisy.
That actually looks pretty cool on a Z9.
24mm and 28mm are not happy about this.🤪
