I'm glad you're busy with work but it's always great to see you guys uploading new videos! Keep it up!
We're gonna keep pushing! Maybe can't post as much but there is always another video on the way! :)
IF i ever go to tokyo, i will book a workshop. Love the videos and really enjoy the photography.
Thank you so much!! :)
So pleased that your in-person company is doing so well, but absolutely gutted that it means less frequent videos for all of us who can’t travel to Japan to enjoy! 👍😭
More videos will come though!! Also, it's not just eyexplore the business, but also my personal life has become quite busy. Nothing bad, actually only good stuff, but have to find balance in everything. Honestly, I really wish I could do the channel full time. It's one of the most fun and rewarding activities I do. :)
It's very cool to see you again and take us to the streets of Tokyo!
Thanks for watching! :)
Great news that your tours are keeping you busy. And thank you for another excellent video Lukasz & Axel. 👍
Our pleasure! :)
So excited to see a new video drop! This channel and the videos you guys make have been very inspiring and helpful to me as I've recently started my photography journey. I'll be looking forward to the next video you guys upload, even if it's just once a month; I've been thoroughly enjoying watching the archive of videos on this channel. Much love from Singapore!
Thank you so much for the kind words!! We're going to keep posting!! :)
Love to hear that you're so busy but also that you're still going to keep making content on here! Forever an inspiration and your videos always get me out and shooting! 📸
Thank you so much! :)
So happy to see a new video. Thanks Eyexplore crew!
Our pleasure!! :)
I was in that temple in July, they were preparing for the festival. I bought postcards on the same 243 years old store. Good times.
Awesome!! :)
Welcome back, Lukasz and Axel! Great virtual tour/workshop. Looking forward to resuming my regular dosage🙂
Thank you!! I think we're gonna keep it at once a month for a little while. As you know from out time together in May I have some big changes coming up in my life haha. But anyway, always another video on the way! :)
It's always a good day when a new Eyexplore video pops up in the RUclips feed. I was reading a couple of reviews of that lens online. One guy said it was nearly impossible to keep the protective lens hood in place and another seemed to think it's a noise machine. I didn't see any evidence of that in this festival setting. I definitely didn't see any noise, all the vendor shots were excellent, in my opinion. Great work!
Thanks!! The hood stays on fine for me, but it's true that it's a bit easy to remove. I tend to play with it like a fidget spinner haha. I think eventually the plastic will wear out and it will get looser. As for noise, I believe they are referring the actual sound of the focusing engine. And yes, it is noticeable. For photos it really makes no difference but for video it's a total deal breaker and I would not recommend this lens for video use unless you don't care about the built-in audio.
@@EYExplore I totally misinterpreted the noise complaint. Good to know it’s not an image quality issue, thanks.
Damn that was crowded haha. But good to see so many faces :-) And the lens gives me Leica Q vibes.
Yeah, Tokyo feels like normal again. It's a similar focal length but it would be cool if it had f/1.7 aperture like the Leica! :)
Love these videos. Can't be mad at all that you guys are staying busy.
Thank you so much!! More is always on the way though. :)
Glad business is picking up. Don’t entirely let RUclips go, it’s a nice little income stream to diversify. Drive on. Plus, you guys have good content. Thank you.
Thanks! More important than the income stream is just the enjoyment I get. I really like making these videos and connecting with people on this platform. :)
Thanks for sharing. Great photos and great to see the festival too.
Thank you so much!! :)
Finally a new video!! Been having the older ones on repeat! 👏😅
Haha, thanks! Unfortunately, we're gonna slow down the posting pace a bit, but hopefully we can keep it at one a month. But we're not quitting! There is always another video on the way. :)
I have a Z8 and that very pancake lens. Love the combination!
It's so much fun to use! :)
Great to hear the success with so many photo walks booked! Hopefully it keeps coming, because I want to participate sometime in the future, life willing. I will need to buy a camera before that probably, since my main body died almost a year ago and I've just been running on Ricoh since.
I love the 26f2.8 you're using. It felt dynamic and striking with all the extra context, like I was right there in the action. I'm excited to see more of it, and now inspired to get out and shoot again after work today. Thanks for the motivation. 💪
I enjoyed the candy tangent. I'm always curious about little cultural slice of life things like that which nobody really talks about. ✌️
Thank you! Well, the Ricoh is well-suited for shooting around Tokyo! Glad you enjoyed the lens and the candy! :)
Great you‘ve come up with a new video - super interesting and great shots, as always! Hats off!
Thank you very much! :)
my man is slowly morphing into Ra"s Al Ghul
Hahahah! :)
gotta say I really enjoy this channel.
I love shooting street photography. To me there's nothing more satisfying than capturing people in their environment. However I don't get the opportunity to shoot much. Watching your channel partially fulfills that itch I have.
Glad to heat that! Thank you! :)
wish you'd do more than monthly videos! 😁 i will be in tokyo in january, cant wait.
I wish so too! Honestly, if I could pivot into RUclips 100% and just make videos I think I'd be super happy, but unfortunately I gotta pay the bills and RUclips is only a small part of that equation. But anyway, the next video is on the way! :)
I hope you are able to get your hands on the Voigtlander 40mm with native Z mount. I love it!
Yeah, I heard about it recently. I might get one some day. :)
perspective control would be a good topic to do a video on
Yeah, I've been meaning to rent a tilt-shift lens and try it out but it's been on the back burner for a looooong time. :)
Always a pleasure ❤thank you lukaz
Thank you!! :)
Your videos are always fantastic, I follow them with great interest. Thanks for everything, greetings from Italy, see you in the next video!
Thank you so much!! Really appreciate it! :)
We need more Crazy Shots like before
Like the time on the slide hahah? :)
This weekend there is a big event similar to this in my town, so i find very inspired by this content. love your videos!
Thank you so much! I hope you have a good time shooting at the event! :)
I wouldnt stress too much that you didnt get much during this one; while i appreciate the photography its also a blast watching you guys walk around just talking. That interaction at the old sweetie shop was great!
Thank you so much!! Yeah, I'm very happy how the video turned out. I'm always just hoping to also get a few banger photos, but if not, it's no biggie. :)
@@EYExplore the way I look at it, you post so much of your work that I never feel as though I miss out. Talking as someone who loves many aspects of Japan, I appreciate your videos that basically shows off its culture.
@@frankdorans1611 Well, I'm happy you appreciate it! :)
My Favourite RUclipsr Eye Xplore❤❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you!! :)
Would love to come walk the city and shoot in a workshop one day. 😃
I look forward to it! :)
How excited are you for the new Nikon zf
It looks like a great product and cool camera but it's not for me. I am not a fan of retro stylings and exetrnal dials. I find them clunky and slow to use and much prefer the integrated front/back dials that my Z9 has. But I'm sure tons of people will enjoy it! And I hope they add the manual focus eye zoom feature to the Z9 in a firmware update, hehe. :)
Oh Lukas !! You are back dude
Always a pleasure! :)
Just bought the Nikon Z9 less than a week ago, updated it version 4.0 and I’m still not happy with the new shutter sounds. I have it on B. I’m coming from a Canon 1DX so I prefer the loud mechanical shutter that lets the model know when to change the pose. I wonder if Nikon will give us a really loud mechanical shutter in the next update.
I like B or D the most (I think) but really I never use them other than in these videos. But understand your use case. I do sometimes turns it on for models too. You could also try shouting while your shoot! BOOM! Hahaha. But yeah, I hope for more sounds too! :)
i actually bought the z9 z8 and decided to stick with the z7ii but im now going to get the z9 again and just get used to the weight your videos are superb you remind me of the robert deniro of photography lol
Yeah the weight is worth it! Robert DeNiro?? Haha, how so?! :)
Haha! You are most definitely the tallest person at the festival! Fun!
Pretty much! :)
Nice to hear you are busy , it is nice for you.
I like the way and attitude how you shoot. Hope someday you can come to Taiwan for street photography , It will be great.
Thank you!! I really want to visit Taiwan some day. It's been on my list for years and I keep putting it off.
Awesome video! May I ask what sling bag you are using?
Thanks!! It's a from a little Japanese brand called Squalo Works. :)
Not sure why I’m just now subscribing. Channel is awesome. I really enjoy your positive attitude and mindset, it’s really uplifting. I may have to buy this lens for my z7ii. Thanks for the great work!
Thank you so much!! Glad you enjoy our videos! :)
hopefully I can find a chance to come out on one of your tours this year (will have to convince my trip mates haha)
I hope so! :)
Great review of this lens. Think I’d go with the Z 28 f2.8, a little cheaper, even though the 26 fits between the 24 and 28. I wish there was a 28 f1.8 for the Z. Love a 28mm lens.
Yeah, I kept one Nikon F-mount lens: the 28mm f/1.4. I really hope they make a Z version someday. I big aperture 28mm is such a joy to shoot with at night. :)
Nice summer vibes!
Mega summer this year in Tokyo! So hot! You should come visit. :)
Wouldn't the 28mm 2.8 give better subject separation and isolation being a slightly longer lens? (Plus a lot more reasonable in price). Afterall, a huge pro body isn't going to put anyone at ease despite having a pancake attached, especially given the 28mm isn't really much bigger.
I don't select my gear based on how 'at ease' it puts people. That's literally the last thing on my mind. I just like the smaller lens because... it's smaller. But really it's negligible. Honestly, there is probably little difference between the two lenses, but I've never done a comparison so I really don't know. As for more bokeh at 28 vs 26... yeah technically yes, but I'm sure the difference is minuscule and undetectable for practical purposes. You'd have to do a side by side comparison to see the difference. So, why did I get this lens and not the other one? I dunno, it just sounded cool... 26mm (rare focal length for a prime) pancake lens. And I'm enjoying using it, so no complaints from me! :)
Great to see you again! It's been a while! By the way, I am very glad to see Japanese locals beginning to take the masks off! I really missed smiles on the street before covid in Japan...
Thanks! When it's 50,000 degrees outside you have to take it off! :)
So good!
Thanks!! :)
Enjoyable vid, Lukasz. Some fine images, too - green grocer series and food vendors at festival my fav. Shutter sound D my preference. Nice bomb-ticking imitation.😁 Was the accelerating beep series the self-timer?
Festivals are great places for street shoots, but crowds and sensory overload can be daunting, IMO. Still, you did quite well nudging your way to the front of stalls. Interesting that the games were old-style “analog” and not electronic. Cheers!
Thank you! The accelerating series of beeps was done entirely by me by clicking the shutter faster and faster. I did a good job, eh? :)
It was definitely pretty daunting. When we rounded the corner I had my doubts about the rest of the video. Actually, we had no intention to shoot this festival but on the day someone told me about and we took a chance. Glad it worked out! :)
Nice video and very interesting Nikon lens but i think it fits better on a small Z50 or Zfc camera.
Thanks! I'm sure it suits those cameras very well too, but it certainly works great on a Z8 or Z9 too. It is a full-frame lens after all. :)
great channel how do you find the weight from z7 to z9
Thanks! It's no problem for me. I spent years shooting with D3/D4 so I like the weight. Also with Z6/Z7 I used the battery grip. I think all in all, the Z9 is lighter than those cameras with their bigger grips + two batteries (but basically it's the same). :)
Hey, sometime ago you used the Z 40 F2 can you let us know what you think the differences Z 26 vs Z 40
Yep, I mentioned it briefly towards the beginning. I still love it, but just prefer the FOV of the 26mm. The f/2 on the 40 is a nice plus though. Both are great lenses and they compliment each other nicely. I often carry both (one in my little satchel). Budget allowing, owning them both is a boon! :)
how would you compare it to the viltrox 24mm 1.8 for night photography, big difference ?
The Nikon is better for me simply because it has zero distortion. I shoot a lot of architecture and geometric subjects and I really like to avoid distortion. But per your question about night photography, the Viltrox is obviously better with the larger aperture. More light is always a good thing and you get 1.3 stops worth more with the Viltrox. :)
Keep them coming Lukatz
We will! :)
Do you set the shuttle sound on? Is it better to shoot with the shutter sound on?
I think I mentioned in the video that I do it just for the purpose of you, the viewers, being able to know when I'm shooting. On my own I never have it on. :)
Beautiful 👍👍👍📸👍📸👍👍👍
Thank you! :)
Nice shots that prove you can do street photography with almost any camera.
Honestly, this camera confers so many advantages it feels like cheating. The size is completely irrelevant. :)
Great vid. Just came back from Japan. It WAS very hot. Wanted to hit you guys up while I was in Tokyo but was too busy. Hopefully next time.
Thank you!! Next time! :)
new video!? Well, time to brew some tea and enjoy. Just saw that the Tokyo Unseen book it's in pre order ! So hyped about it!
Wow, thank you so much for pre-ordering!! :)
Hi, I discovered your video doing research on the lens. So what's the truth on this lens. It's sharp in the corners and how loud/noisy is it in reasonably quiet environment. Any hope would be great.
I don't really look closely at corner sharpness in my photos. It's totally sharp enough for my purposes. As for the noise, it's very quiet overall, but loud enough that the camera mic will easily pick it up if you're shooting video. For photography, it's negligible.
Nice to C u Guys Back,
Thank you so much for watching! :)
isnt there a way to adjust the volume for the shutter? much like there is for the focus beep?
Yes, there is. I think I had it on 3 or 4. But usually I just have off completely. I only turn it on for these videos. :)
Cheers. Thanks for the reply :) Btw, love the channel. Keep it up. @@EYExplore
How about a video of a day or half a day or a few hours of one of your workshops?
I'd say we already have videos that cover the workshops well. For example this one shows what we do on our Tokyo By Night workshop: ruclips.net/video/lGxgR325xB0/видео.html
And this one covers a good chunk of Tokyo Cyberpunk Streets: ruclips.net/video/ECvnGshCd2M/видео.html
But in general, what you see in these videos is what you would experience on a workshop (we actually call them Photo Adventures). We explore and shoot together and the instructor (either me or one of my colleagues) gives instruction/tips, and leads the way. :)
That's is so cool i know when i do make it to Japan 🗾 i would love also to do a nature Photowalk. Do you offer something like that too?
This is a great video.
Thank you so much!! :)
What bag are you using?
It's a little satchel from a company called Squallo Works. I think they only sell them in Japan.
Love the video love the respect for the people nd their privacy ,Long live Street Photography
Thanks!! :)
Would love to try this at an American festival...hahaha
Would be fun at a carnival! :)
"Whatever that is in freedom units" 😂
:)
*KABOOM!*
:)
Still using LR for processing?
I've always been using ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) which is basically LR, so yes. :)
So where are the 26mm photos?
What do you mean? They are in the video...
Hi, are You got some Polish family? You look very Polish , tall, strong, polish Boy 😂 Sorry if I'm wrong, meyby You just remind me some of the Polish friends, good boys.
I am Polish. Born in Poland, grew up in the US. Fluent in both languages. :)
Oh jeez, this sound. Love the video, but if you want to disable it, I support you 10000000% - hopefully with so many zeros I will make up for viewers wanting it ;D
Hahaha, yeah I would but actually also helps me edit the video. With the sounds cue I know exactly when I took each photos, which is nice for placing them in the video. :)
smallest lens pairs with the heaviest body 😂
It's like having a little wang but huge nuts lol.
yeah budday
:)
At 4:10 a man in a purple shirt tried to switch RUclips channels!
Haha!
can you do a fotowalk in kobe would be interesting to see the the jewish comunity im planning to go there soon
Kobe is faaaaaar. I'd love to go there some day! :)
@@EYExplore same but I'm stuck with a d7000 hoping to get a used d500 or doen z systeem would be great if I can get sponsored or something but that would never happen
you look tall dude
Haha, I think for Japan I am quite tall. I'm 185cm. :)
That camera is a brick, you can’t see the lens 😂
It's like my junk. :)
We need the backstory on that beard discoloration
Backstory: people get old. The end.
@@EYExploreas far as I know not the Polish
@@n1ngnuo Haha, yeah I wish we were immortal. :)
Sorry but that rig is huge and way too obnoxious for discreet street shooting. I prefer my chrome Fuji X-E4 with a silver 16mm f/2.8.
No one's telling you to use it. Use what you like! :)
To each his own. I know a photographer who shoots gorgeous street photography with a huge Mamiya medium format film camera.
@@ryanvacation7319 My favourite gear way back was the Hasselblad with the huge forty millimeter Distagon
Nice lens but would prefer it on a smaller body, looks awkward on the Z9 😅
It's all matter of preference. I've been using a similar setup since 2010, when I had a D3 and Voigtlander 40mm pancake. I really like the feel of a camera setup like this. :)
Hehe it also helps that he is a big tall fellow. Makes the camera seem relatively smaller 🙂. Perhaps for his size it’s perfect.
Did you tell the shop owner you were from america or did I hear mishear that?
the mass of people really shows that if you dont look asian you really stand out in japan 😂
gorgeous neighboorhood and glad to see some more people centric shots
I don't think so but I might have. Yeah, I definitely stand out. Having another bro following me around with a camera doesn't help either haha. :)
