I wanted to thank you for this video. I've had an 06 colorado for almost 3 years now. It has had the stalling issue since I've gotten it. I took it to a professional shop. They said it was most likely the vvt solenoid. Which WAS broken and needed to be replaced. But it didnt solve the stalling issue at my dismay... I called the professional and told them. They said that that means the problem is internal and it would cost me another $1000 - $1500 to fix. Not feasible for me at this time. So I surfed youtube for potential solutions and came across your video. This morning I cleaned the mass air intake sensor, which was caked with grime, and the throttle body, which was also caked with grime. I test drove it and it didnt stall once! I really hope that that was the issue. A simple cleaning could have saved me a ton of money. Thank you so much for your video!

The MAF retainer screws actually require a 5.5 mm socket to remove, but a 7/32 is the same size. Just like a 5/16 socket is almost exactly 8 mm.

I have a 05 3.5L 5cyl with 278+K miles. I have been cleaning my throttle body for years but I do not take the throttle body off. I just take a good clean fine fiber rag and spray throttle cleaner in it and on the rag. I then hold the throttle flap with one finger and scrub with the other hand until clean. Right now I am having issues with fuel bank 1 lean and oil light at low rpm

I originally shot more but my 7 year old spilt a glass of milk on the camera while it was on and it smoked both the camera and card. I will try to remember to come let you know when I can get the time. Thanks again and good luck!

I've cleaned the MAF sensor and the throttle body. It helps A LOT. But when I start it, it starts fine, then the RPM drop to nothing and dies. I have to keep the gas up, and put it in gear, after a few kliks its runs just fine and idles at 700. It seems you cant manually adjust the idle. What do? What next?

I have the same issue my truck one day turned on fine then it started to drop idle below the 700 mark I noticed it gets worse when I turn on the ac. When I first bought my truck it did something similar but it was a spark plug boot that was faulty and I used a decoder so a code came out. This time no code nothing. I’m thinking it’s the idle control but not sure did you fix yours and if so what was the problem?

My 08 Colorado has codes p0068 p0171and p0101 hoping this will help and or fix.
Had a missfire in cylinder 1 a while back. Changed a spark plug, it went away.
Previously the misfire came back with a few codes p 0351 p0017 and p0301 which are now all gone and new codes came up (not sure if they're correlated)
I changed the cylinder 1 ignition coil. Later down the road, I also replaced the VVT. I then proceeded to clear my codes and the newest ones appeared.
Im concidering cam shaft and or crankshaft sensor replacement could be a possibility.
Symptoms: spuddering when cold started in cold weather and occasionally shutting off. This turned into spuddering and loss of power during acceleration and eventually the truck initiating low engine power mode.
