Man. The things got 200k miles. The thing is still running. Ride til it dies.
Have pretty much the same problem. BUT the the olde lady wants me to get rid of it to buy something else. Some thing that she likes. The something is not a truck.
My 98 f150 has 348000 miles
already posted this but it's most likely the o-ring on the line that wore out. Dropping the tank on these isn't necessary, you can also remove the bed but really it's not a big deal. I've done dozens of these
@akjohnny The old envoy is going to be in the driveway until can't be fixed any more. It is not a truck but I use it like one. For sand and gravel just use a trailer. Sheets of plywood no problem. 200,000 + miles of use.
If she want a new purse hauler she can go buy one.
That won't happen because she likes her shoes and new outfits to match.
She pretty much still lives like a teenager at daddy's house with her own job. My sister could not handle taking on a man's place either. She only made partial house payments for 4 years. Then she found Mr. bill payer, just like many single moms.
Got one with 217k miles and it still runs like a champ.
If a car or truck lasts 200,000 miles with the same engine and transmission that's a good car to me.
Interestingly , good point,,,,, I am at 139,000 mi .on my 2007 GMC CANYON 2DE/:::::: some repairs uncommonly expensive( e.g front disc Brakes)

I have 297000 miles on my 04 accord! Original 2.4 k24a engine with the original transmission plus clutch! No engine lights and I’m hoping to hit 500 thousand with very few repairs
It’s a 5 speed manual transmission btw

Before you drop a fuel tank on a pickup, consider unbolting then lifting the bed. It can give you access to the pump without the hassle of dropping the tank. You normally don't even have to remove the bed, just jack it up a foot or two on one side to give yourself room to work on the pump.

Never drop the gas tank on a truck,Remove the bed!!,done it by myself,(was a small truck)
That's what I was thinking, but that means you still gotta pull up the bed liner....
Those of us with spray in bed liners are not going to do that.
You guys realize that beds bolt in from the underneath not the inside of the bed right.....
@@wantedformoney12 I know, but, I don't want the top bolts cracking loose my liner after the nuts are off. When you lifting the bed on/off those bolts are going to bump the frame which might crack the liner around the bolts on the top.
@@wantedformoney12 Depends on the truck. My ranger has big torque bolts in the bed itself.
I have 2004 gmc canyon with 265k miles. Best gm product i have ever owned. Have had few problems but not too bad. Great truck.
I've owned since brand new a 2009 Colorado equipped with a 4-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission. It now has 90,000 miles on it. Other than the rear shock absorbers and a sun visor, the vehicle has never required any repairs--Only routine maintainence. It runs perfectly, no rattles, and the air conditioning blows mounds of cold air, which is very important here in the hot state of Florida. It has been well over a year since the truck has even been in the repair shop. I change the oil myself. No complaints whatsoever!
Good! I've got a 04 manual trans up north in NY, rusty and trusty. Very reliable.
@@tacomas9602 I’mma get a 04 from my dad soon , how many miles and yours have and is it still holdin?
@@Chino2k3 well my 04 has 165,000 miles and I know I've needed to do two front wheel bearings and an alternator since I've owned it. I've owned it since 124,000 so there's a good idea of what parts you'd expect to fail. It's been a good truck but the frame rust up here in New York has absolutely destroyed it really I mean I've patched it up as I'm a welder but I'm going to be honest they rust out. If you could find a nice two-wheel drive extended cab or something with a stick shift for under three grand that will pass inspection I think that would make you happy. As long as you take care of it and don't buy an absolute pile of junk from the get-go you should be good
Love your videos! I have an 06 chevy colorado extended cab and a slightly different code (P0446) popped up one day. I had to replace the fuel pressure sensor on the gas tank. Was a relatively simple and cheap fix for $15 and 20 minutes. The fuel tank pressure sensor is mounted on the top of the pump module on the top side of the gas tank. It can be accessed, without dropping the tank, on a Std Cab or Ext Cab. You have to take the back driver side tire off and remove the wheel well skirting then you can see the top of the tank and the pump module and might have shown exactly where the leak is.
15 years old with almost 200k on it and it runs perfectly fine, doesn’t sound like such a bad vehicle to me.
I like you Scotty but I think your a little harsh on GM sometimes.
I’ve had more issues with my Kia,Honda and yes Toyota products than Gm Products.
My Toyota Solara had faulty brakes, almost killed in it. Traded it in after 6 months of Toyota denying anything was wrong.
That's what drives me crazy about Scotty! If this were a Tacoma or hell even a Ford Ranger, he'd say it was normal wear and tear for that age and mileage.

An old trick I learned from my dad, when you want to test drive the car, trade keys. In my case my keys included my vehicle and a nice big comfy house. That usually calms the owners nerves. As a viewer from California. Be extremely grateful when you don’t have to get your car inspected. I’ve had to let go of perfectly good cars for stupid inspection failures.
I took my wife’s car in for inspection. (She was in Air Force, car still registered in her home state). I found out why there is a solid glass barrier between you, your car they are abusing. I didn’t believe how they abused the cars. Manual transmission. While I don’t know the rpm of course. I have never heard that high a rpm. In lower gear as it bounced off the end of the roller repeatedly.
The home state was changed before next inspection.
MN they did random to prove we needed inspection. It was discovered they falsified failure data to prove it was needed. But every 4-6 yrs they try to sneak it in.
Thanks for posting Scotty. Good stuff.

Mine had plenty of issues, including a fuel filter that clogged way more than it should have, an electrical problem that caused the right side headlight to blink along with the turn signal. The rearview mirror would pretty regularly fall off the windshield, the dashboard plastic was cracked and disintegrated by the time it was 7-8 years old and the valves rattled pretty much from the time it was almost new. And the bow-tie Chevy logo fell off the grille the first time I washed it. I wouldn't say it was a "bad" vehicle by any means, it lasted me 8 years with pretty low cost of maintenance but I've owned Scion/Toyota/Nissan/Subaru since then and it was the "worst" out of all of them, if I had to pick a last place - and the Colorado would be ahead of it, too.

Hey Scotty, I failed California emissions test on my 94 K1500 because I was using a STANT locking gas cap and it wasn't completely sealing. It fit but I guess it just didn't seal as well. Had to get a non locking replacment that fit better in order to pass.
Scotty Kilmer is the best mechanic in the World
Yes indeed
Of course

He's the bee's knees of mechanics
Well just like the ole saying if its not broke don't fix it . There's another saying. If scotty can't fix it then it can't be fixed lol 😎
Anything made by man can be fixed. Cost may become an obstacle.
Finally I found the Real Goku
That bad huh?
Scotty is too lazy to fix this one. The cannister isn't on top of the tank you literally see it right above the spare tire. Abs light is probably just from an abs sensor that is really easy to do on these 2wd colorados.

Scotty is too rational and too honest to waste the customer's money on a needless repair of this brilliantly designed and impeccably manufactured GM product.
I am still driving my 2006 Colorado 3.5 Inline 5 w/260k miles . Have been changing the oil about every 5k miles, no major problems. I have changed the alternator, batteries, spark plugs, one coil, planning on changing the remaining 4 coils, changed out the head gasket not that it needed it but one of the value stem gaskets went bad but that was after 200k miles so I replaced the whole set, other than that still running, great little truck IMO. Nothing last forever but they sure don’t build them like they use tool
That’s what that green cap is there for, I have that on my 04 ford ranger I was curious what that was for

Poor quality of GM:
Shows the GREAT quality of the new scan tool😂
With almost 200k miles.....and it's in great shape....obviously a well built vehicle
Scotty really needs a lift. He too darn old to be crawling on the ground, especially during the winter in Tennessee.
He said in an older video that he's trying to stay active, and that he's too cheap to buy a lift.
Use it or lose it. He can still do it and would probably rather do it to keep him active.
I have an 05 here in 23 and it's been one of the more reliable rigs I've ever owned. it has begrudgingly earned my respect, I never wanted to like , but I do. It's a 2wd crew cab I5 and it serves me faithfully. It doesn't do that well at the gas pump but does everything else pretty well. 115k and zero rust. I got three c compliments on it just this week. Shrug, with prices the way they are I'll be driving this awhile before I can afford a newer Tacoma SR 4x4
Thanks! scotty, I will be moving to Tennessee; because of no emissions testing.
Working on a 2009 colorado right now, same code hahaha
Did the ring that connects the pump to the gas tank rust out?
I love GM. Engine fault codes passed down from generation to generation.
Gotta Love This Guy. Nice blend of technical know how and Common Sense ...
Scotty love your videos! But hope you didn't charge for that EVAP leak diag haha...gotta force that vent valve closed before using the smoke machine ;)
The dealer sold my wife four gas caps for this code.
maybe the 5th one will fix it ???
I fixed it, I traded it in for a Toyota!
Find a new mechanic. They don't know what they are doing.
The only mechanic I’ve heard suggesting people to not repair their cars
For good reasons
If it runs good and you can get away with riding it like that, there's no reason to fix it.... some things you can get away with, but some things are a bit more serious
Sometimes you can get away with riding it like it is. But....
Once had a check engine light on my 2001 Echo. Ran if for a few years with that light on. Later on found out it was the O2 sensor. Had to take the front passenger seat out to get to the wire under the rug. Took it to a muffler shop where they just lifted the car up and took out the old sensor (it was really on tight) and put in the new one. Check engine light went off and the car started to save on gas and felt it had more pep.
It’s probably easier just to remove the bed😂😂 and I would recommend changing the fuel pump while you’re down there if your vehicle or truck has over 180,000 miles
I've had 2 front end collisions and what a difference air bags work compared to just seat belts. With the air bag no pain afterwards but with only the seat belt it felt someone hit me in the chest with a fastball. Took a couple weeks to feel pain free. I'll always fix the ABS from now on.
He deserves about 20 mil subs!!😁
Not "can't" --"won't."
I have the same tool.. very helpful, I love it
No Emissions testing in Clarksville, but in Nashville, Franklin, Murfreesboro, and so on.
I’ll never buy another GM I have a GMC sierra the lifter went out Now needs major repairs!
What year?
"I Can't Fix This Chevy Colorado". You know what they say, you can't fix stupid!
saving the environment is pretty stupid after all \s

@@socallife890 Yeah because fixing one vacuum leak on one truck will save the world, maybe it will bring world peace and feed the hungry too.
I have an 05 Colorado and I never have any issues, and I love it enough to fix a problem like that if it happened.
I found it much easier to take 6 bolts out and remove the bed to access the evap canister. Two people can easily lift the bed off.
