The crust turns out slightly crunchy when freshly baked, it will soften the next day.
This recipe makes 1 Madeira cake.
Prep time: 15 mins
Baking time: 45 mins
Total: 1 hour
RECIPE:
150g (2/3 cup) butter
150g (2/3 cup) sugar
3 small eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
200g (1+1/2 cup) plain flour
1 tbsp baking powder (if using self rising flour skip this step)
pinch (1/8 tsp) salt
1 tbsp milk
Bake in a preheated oven at 170C / 340F / Gas mark 3
Place it on the middle rack, in the middle of the rack
Bake time: 40-45 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean
(Every oven is different, cooking times may vary slightly, keep checking it every 5 minutes after 40 minutes of baking)

Looks absolutely yummyβ€ππΏπ¦can I add less sugar and how much less would be ideal? I make this exact same one with ghee and comes out looking the same as yours -a dark golden loaf.
Thank you π₯° I would not recommend reducing sugar in this recipe, the consistency may become tougher and dryer. You could try adding maybe 25g less sugar, but the difference isnβt significant, only 2g less sugar per slice, hence, personally, I would not risk it. I love ghee, sounds really delicious, I will definitely try it π

Iβm sorry, I donβt know dear, I just assumed you wanted to do 2 loaf pans. It depends on the pan or springform size, and needs to be calculated accordingly. My loaf tin size is 2lb (23x11x7cm) π
Like for example a person wishes to bake how does a person know if u must double recipe or if you must keep as is , how do a person know

This looks so good. I usually make with 125gms of butter and sugar, 1 eggs and 150 gms of flour. That also comes out vwry well.
But I will definitely try this recipe.

I wanted to make this so I wanted to know if i could divide batter
Im hoping u would help me out but how does a person know that the batter needs to b doubled an how does a person know the batter needs to b halved
To double the batter for two loaf pans just double all the ingredients and when the batter is ready divide it equally between to loaf pans, any questions just let me know π
Can we use vegetable oil/ghee instaed of butter...? As Butter is expensive here π©
Yes, you can use ghee instead, but use 20% less than stated in the recipe, you will need 120g of ghee, you can also substitute for oil, you will need the same amount of oil 150ml, but the texture will be a little different and it may raise a little more, I hope this helps π©·
