Just want to say that I appreciate your channel, especially the Grim Dawn content, you've made the game far more enjoyable for me and obviously many others. My first character was a disaster until I started watching your videos and now my second character is following along closely with your purifier video and nothing but fun! I have a greater understanding of how everything works thanks to you! Btw, I understand burnout, I have been playing a game since covid, not missed a day online in 2+ years but it can be a chore if I go into it with a mindset that is fed up with certain people or daily quests and endeavors and I end up creating my own self-inflicted suffering/misery/stress, whatever ya want to call it, because of "...my thoughts about it." When I see that it's my thoughts about it or rather judgment values, (same thing basically right?) then I end up relaxing and not feel stressed out or burnt out because I am aware that my stress is from a mind-made narrative "about the game" and the narrative is just BS. If I can "see" or be aware that there is this narrative going on, I can't be that narrative can I? I am what sees that. Life is so much lighter without buying into that mind-made mental story and just being present with the artwork, detail, gameplay and guildmates etc. Just spreading some love, you deserve it! Great! I did a cold Sabatuer with Namadea's mask, Galeslice's medal, Elena's Necklace. It was non-standard and a lot of fun too. Some of those 100% conversion rares can do stunning things. Plus add base damage to a skill. That stuff can stack quite well.
Yeah, the majority of the characters/builds I’ve done over the past couple of years have been using monster infrequent items. Elena’s necklace is a hidden gem 👊😜
Sometimes life sucks, sometimes life is just what we make of it. If you aren't happy, reinvent yourself. I have made drastic changes to my life and am planning to make even more. Even simple changes can make a difference though, exercise, meditation, learning an instrument, improving your diet, getting enough sleep, cutting back on caffeine, alcohol, and/or media/gaming. These are tough times, but you can still find your personal joy in life. Cool character btw!
Best builds put a smile on your face. for me its my purifier and warder, depending on my mood. warder just got a new record reflected damage, 451.000m bloody hilarious 😂 and the puri just melts everything:-)

I have to say, I'm truly moved by how little of a damn you give that you play this build for pure fun and don't care about the metagame. Kind of how I feel in my Pokemon games when I'm raising teams of Pokemon that are good and/or are just my personal favorites.

I'm currently trying to get into grim dawn and wanted some basic guides to not be immediately overwhelmed which somehow brought me here and i'm glad it did. After watching a couple hours worth of videos which told me absolutely nothing, the tone of being absolutely done with nonsense of this video was incredibly entertaining. Subbed and will watch some of your videos after work trying to pick up the basics. I know what build i'm aiming for, i just don't know how to get there.

I mean, you can say something like “I want to use a big two-handed weapon and also set stuff on fire” or “I want to play vitality damage reaper and don’t even know if it’s possible”. My approach to any question about how to do a build will be to offer some open-ended early game skill and item options that anyone can get (minimal reliance on hoping for random loot luck) with an emphasis on “use this as a basis for making the build fun” rather than “you must use A B C skills and you must use X Y Z item or the build will suck”. Have fun with the game, glad you found my stuff useful.

I'm essentially looking to play something pretty basic as a first run, i was thinking about two handed greatsword/greataxe with (maybe aoe?) lightning damage. Just finished a NG+2 run on a pure ranged pyro build in Elden ring, i just need to cave some skulls in at this point. I wouldn't ask for more than the basics, figuring out builds late game is part of the fun, a basis for such would be very welcome. Thanks a lot in advance.
@@Linkontro You can do exactly that (two-handed, with lighting damage) by going with Soldier+Shaman - the game calls this mastery combo a Warder. It’s also possible to go with pure Soldier or pure Shaman, although the lightning damage doesn’t naturally work well with pure Soldier due to Soldier default damage type being mostly physical damage, so you’d need to mess about with damage conversion which probably isn’t a brilliant plan if you’re new to the game. If you explore the buildings very near the start of the game (around the Devil’s Crossing area) there’s always a rare/green level-zero lightning two-handed greatsword in a building sort of north-east from the very start of the game. That will get you started.

I still my first ever hardcore character which is a warder and uses primal strike physical using korvan wyrm . I use magi rings and morgoneth ring , well those are best I got, so what , I kill things. Hell yeah . By the way thanks for the build and most importantly the encouragement !

I've gotten it since, using the same tactic you used as I found my beefy build was no good with a lack of damage resistance and output. Again,been enjoying your videos which has really helped when soloing on days I don't stream with my friends. Plus, the story is really interesting too. Been advertising it to friends too and I'm interested in the next game they're working on.

hey! i'm building this in HCSSF (currently Lvl 48) i just got the Namadea's Eye and the leafmane totem and i can say its a beast!!!!!!! this is a great candidate for the Monomythic Centennial achievement
Excellent mate! That build is the one I use for Lokarr farming in hardcore, rarely gets me below about 85% health on any mutator - the elemental resistance is particularly crazy on it. At level 84, grab the Bysmiel Handcannon from their faction shop, then just hope for a mythical morgal mortality drop as that’s probably the best pistol you can get for this build.
@@Arcadelife1 two big groups at ounce. even with the seal and all res at 80 they blitzkrieg me into oblivion. but, as I said before, this was a piloting issue. the build was melting everything and every one up to that point. i will give it another go in the future for sure
You're my favorite grim dawn channel... im probably pretty late to the game but I haven't found anything that I don't like or that annoys me about your channel... every other channel I've seen I find a reason to go "alright that's enough of that" but not here...
Honestly man you really should of used that skill and traded the one attribute you had for the other one but other than those common mistakes everything is alright.
I was looking for an Apostate idea, as I never played one before, and I actually bothered with your idea! Thank you. I just hit lev 60 and could equip my Leafmane tottem. It 's been a game changer. Still use my skeletons though, with bat fang dev, just because I can (but I no longer have to) ;) You deserve way more views and subs. I have a question, with lore notes and merits, it is easy to get first 40 levels. Then it is a bit of a drag... What is you most time efficient way to level past level 40?
Thanks for the view, this great comment, and giving the apostate with leafmane trophy a try. My general (it varies) strategy for levelling after using a merit is - in Normal (I don’t bother with Veteran) just grab shrines and only essential quests (where needed to access shrines) while equipping best XP gear available and using XP pots. Elite - play the campaign through ‘properly’. I’m usually level 94 on entering Ultimate, although might get there half way through Act 1. Once you hit 94, I stop using XP pots as you can equip any gear you have (or that drops) as 94 is the max character level required for any gear.
I just tested it, worked fine. I’ve seen that issue you’re having on other Grimtools links but it always seems to sort itself out. Try clearing your browser cache or whatever other generic internet fixes you can think of. Cheers for the interest in the build 👊🙂

@@Arcadelife1 I fully agree mate...can I also ad the Meta/OP taggers also dont take into account that even though they might have the best buffs and fewest nerfs at a particular time doesnt mean everyone enjoys that playstyle. Horses for courses I always say
Without a merit (for faster access to Ugdenbog etc) you probably want to level up on something else (Word of Pain for Inquisitor or Skeletons for Necro) and swap it all around when you have the Leafmane Trophy and Namadea’s Eye.
I was in a bad place back then but now I’m following all the super-guru meta rules and treating the game like a proper job instead of a fun way to spend my leisure time and everything is great once more. Of course I’m miserable as hell 👊🤡
Dont listen to the forum. If your build doesnt run crucible in 6 min. then its crap. That is stupid nonsense. I copied your grim tools link and give it a try. I like builds that are different.
It's not ideal as a first build because it needs specific damage-conversion items from the Ashes of Malmouth expansion area, which can't be reached until you beat the final campaign boss in the base game. However, if you're happy to level up using different damage type(s) and don't mind a bit of re=speccing to move into Vitality damage later, you can definitely do it.
Anything in particular you'd like me to try fighting with this build? I won't do Ravager or Callagadra in hardcore, but I'm (almost) happy to try anything else. I mean, I'm assuming you don't have videos of this exact build being killed 'too fast' by 'nemesis and other bosses' but I'm taking your word for it that this 'could' happen. I need to do the build on softcore to test it properly. After killing Lokarr many times I didn’t want to risk losing this one against anything harder; I suspect it would have various issues taking on Ravager, Calagadra, Mogdrogen, etc.

Yes. Nothing was significantly nerfed in 1.2; they somewhat reduced the effectiveness of attack-damage-converted-to-health and increased health regen across all/most sources.
Thanks for the question - it depends if you have access to the merits (elite or ultimate, doesn’t matter which) to allow you to unlock all the rifts in normal on a new character. If not, then you will need to level on a different set of skills than the ‘endgame build’ because you won’t be able to get the two crucial monster infrequent items until you reach the Ashes of Malmouth expansion area.

@@Arcadelife1 two big groups at ounce. even with the seal and all res at 80 they blitzkrieg me into oblivion. but, as I said before, this was a piloting issue. the build was melting everything and every one up to that point. i will give it another go in the future for sure

You're my favorite grim dawn channel... im probably pretty late to the game but I haven't found anything that I don't like or that annoys me about your channel... every other channel I've seen I find a reason to go "alright that's enough of that" but not here...

I was looking for an Apostate idea, as I never played one before, and I actually bothered with your idea! Thank you. I just hit lev 60 and could equip my Leafmane tottem. It 's been a game changer. Still use my skeletons though, with bat fang dev, just because I can (but I no longer have to) ;) You deserve way more views and subs. I have a question, with lore notes and merits, it is easy to get first 40 levels. Then it is a bit of a drag... What is you most time efficient way to level past level 40?

My general (it varies) strategy for levelling after using a merit is - in Normal (I don’t bother with Veteran) just grab shrines and only essential quests (where needed to access shrines) while equipping best XP gear available and using XP pots. Elite - play the campaign through ‘properly’. I’m usually level 94 on entering Ultimate, although might get there half way through Act 1. Once you hit 94, I stop using XP pots as you can equip any gear you have (or that drops) as 94 is the max character level required for any gear.
For me the grim tools link isnt working. Shows a lvl 100 character with nothing selected. No classes, skills, anything.
I just tested it, worked fine. I’ve seen that issue you’re having on other Grimtools links but it always seems to sort itself out. Try clearing your browser cache or whatever other generic internet fixes you can think of. Cheers for the interest in the build 👊🙂

@@Arcadelife1 I fully agree mate...can I also ad the Meta/OP taggers also dont take into account that even though they might have the best buffs and fewest nerfs at a particular time doesnt mean everyone enjoys that playstyle. Horses for courses I always say
how do you level with this build? im finding its quite slow - any skills to prioritize?
Without a merit (for faster access to Ugdenbog etc) you probably want to level up on something else (Word of Pain for Inquisitor or Skeletons for Necro) and swap it all around when you have the Leafmane Trophy and Namadea’s Eye.

It's not ideal as a first build because it needs specific damage-conversion items from the Ashes of Malmouth expansion area, which can't be reached until you beat the final campaign boss in the base game. However, if you're happy to level up using different damage type(s) and don't mind a bit of re=speccing to move into Vitality damage later, you can definitely do it.

Anything in particular you'd like me to try fighting with this build? I won't do Ravager or Callagadra in hardcore, but I'm (almost) happy to try anything else. I mean, I'm assuming you don't have videos of this exact build being killed 'too fast' by 'nemesis and other bosses' but I'm taking your word for it that this 'could' happen.

I need to do the build on softcore to test it properly. After killing Lokarr many times I didn’t want to risk losing this one against anything harder; I suspect it would have various issues taking on Ravager, Calagadra, Mogdrogen, etc.

Yes. Nothing was significantly nerfed in 1.2; they somewhat reduced the effectiveness of attack-damage-converted-to-health and increased health regen across all/most sources.

Thanks for the question - it depends if you have access to the merits (elite or ultimate, doesn’t matter which) to allow you to unlock all the rifts in normal on a new character. If not, then you will need to level on a different set of skills than the ‘endgame build’ because you won’t be able to get the two crucial monster infrequent items until you reach the Ashes of Malmouth expansion area.
