@@armoredotter2183 To be honest you probably know what would be most helpful to newer players. I think I'm still in that "don't know what I don't know" stage, so I'm just spitballing a couple ideas here, not sure if they're viable or worthwhile: 1. A indepth tour of devotions, maybe point out some key ones you'd want for different builds, universally good ones, and ones that are traps. I think there's probably also some deceptively good/bad ones out there to point out. Like Bat, I saw a lot of stuff saying it was good, but none of the nodes seemed to work with my build, so I didn't know why it was good until I watched your devotion tutorial video. 2. An overview of factions, good places to farm rep, and any noteworthy store items locked behind higher rep.
3. Overview of any specific mechanics that are kinda unintuitive. Like how some resist reduction stacks, but not others. 4. Maybe a series of videos going through what each mastery's skills do, showing it on screen if its not just a passive buff, and giving your assessment of the skill. And just as a side note, I know someone already asked about it this video, but I've definitely thought it would be nice to get a link in the description to your grimtools of the characters you've got going on in the background for each video. Sometimes what makes me want to play a build is just how spiffy it looks in action, like your Sentinel build you showed off at the start of your leveling builds video. I was pretty excited to see you had a full build guide for it. I've definitely got it on my list of builds I want to play eventually, for I too would like to be daddy.
That's some quality content for new players right here. Will definitely follow this heavy protection wearing semiaquatic carnivorous mammal's wise advice and sub before I live my whole life pondering on these rough questions.
All around a very very good summary and definitely more compact than mine (who would've guessed, lol), good job Otter! I don't wanna sound nitpicky at all, but Ultos' %RR got nerfed a little some patches ago and now has the same 20% value that viper has. However Ultos will still be more effective for any char that doesn't have at least one ability with at least 100% weapon damage. Also one tip from one youtuber to another and since you already have timestamps set up: If you add another timestamp before your "resistance" one, which says e.g. "intro" and put the timestamp to 0:00, youtube will automatically create chapters, which make it even easier for people to navigate through videos. Hope this helps :)
Ah! my hubris! I always just assume i know these things without triple checking, one of these days ill learn. Thanks for the tip papa protoss! Ill definitely add those timestamps for the chapters.
Im so happy that these are helpful! Truth be told, they can be time consuming, but I barely notice it because I love the editing process and I love building this youtube channel. It's been a much needed outlet during quarantine.
@@armoredotter2183 So I had a question. I just finished the main campaign on veteran, up to Loghorrean. What should I do next? Jump into the DLC? Go to Elite? Farm something before moving on?
@@a_pet_rock I would atleast polish off ashes of malmouth or atleast go until you unlock the malmouth sewers so you can have all reputations unlocked before your next playthrough.
Huge, convoluted maps with lots of dead ends and backtracking through areas you already cleared.. Rage quits from dying keeps play time reasonable. Thumbs up!
Thank you for the grate guide! But i would also add Health Regeneration. Its a night and day difference when you don't have it explicitly (e.g. you get from stats around 100-150 hp/s) and if you have some investment which makes 500+ hp/s. You effectively mitigate many dots and stand in most pools (acid, fire etc.) as you don't feel it by your Health bar. At least that's my experience :)
Well done dude, nice explained, smooth voice, to the right time the text lines, - thats how it should be..Now I see what I need for to get more subs lol
Respeccing is basically free, you can always fix characters rather than deleting them. I recently went through all my level ~50s that got stuck in elite, fixed their resistances/skills and leveled them up, now I've got around 20 characters that are varying degrees of effective in end game content.
25 overcap res before forgotten dlc, 50 overcap elemental res for forgotten gods dlc for fire ice ligthing, for the god near fort ikon, overcap elemental res by 80
Thanks for the helpful and concise video. I'm playing a melee blademaster and felt like I was doing well till I got to big bosses and couldn't figure out how to stop dying. Looks like my stun resist is too low. No idea how to fix it but it's good to know the problem.
Thanks so much! This is my dual wield EoR paladin. No guide for him yet, but here is the grimtools in the meantime - ruclips.net/video/Gw9n74k842M/видео.html
I am having an issue dealing damage. I got like 5.5K HP (oh and i am using Dawn of masteries, but so far am just going full soldier) and things have as much hp as i do but i am doing about 100-120 dmg per hit. So it is literally taking me hours to clear a dungeon. Good thing Forcewave's damage is like 8 times the damage as anything else i can do. I got about 75% boost to all damage types then about the same to physical, trauma and bleeding just from items. I am not facotring in talents/masteries or weapon procs.
Very Nice Video but there are some Special Traps in the Game .... for Endgame Killing its good to have the Stats but Killing Mogdrogen, Lokarr , Grava Thul , Ravagers of Barrowholm etc. will put you to a Test if you understand Grim Dawn ....
Pretty sure you should expand your definition of end game here. I ran with similar numbers on a GR75 and got spanked the other night. Other than that good guide :).
Good Stuff again. Thanks Man! Silly question for you, I recently had to reset my Windows 10 and I lost all my bookmarks. One of them was a link to github which had a small utility that let you figure out devotion paths. I'm lost without it. I was wondering if maybe you had the link because I dug it out of the comments section for one of you RUclips lot.
@@armoredotter2183 No, the one I was using was much simpler. It was just tiles with the constellations on them. You hit the tiles you wanted for your character and it figured out the path if one was possible. Thanks for this one. I'll give it a shot.
How in the world do you get to those numbers, though? Capping one or two things is simple enough with components and augments, but capping damage resistances AND capping CC resistances AND capping armour absorption AND hitting 3k OA and DA seems insane to me. Unless you put your devotions entirely into defensive constellations, I can't see how you'd get all that resistance, and doing that would leave you with less OA, lower damage multipliers and fewer damage procs.
It is certainly doable, but admittedly it will take a while to gather drops with really good stats. And a lot of really good end-game builds are a healthy mix of not just blue/purple legendaries, but also green rare items as well. Some green rares might have stats that are even better all-round than blues/purples. But the catch is, many of these green rares only drop from specific monsters (monster infrequents) and will take time to farm cause you'd have to target farm certain areas/ monster types; and some items would only drop from nemesis-class bosses (meaning you'd have to push a hostile faction to hate you enough for these bosses to start spawning). Not to mention, being green rares, they don't always drop with the appropriate prefix/suffixes. 🥲
Thanks a lot for the guide. Now, can you suggest a good, easy to digest video about damage type conversion ? This is the hardest to understand in my opinion.
Not sure on the secondary class (possibly inquistor) but the ability hes spamming is the eye of reckoning from the oathkeeper class. Effectively allowing for spin2win.
I've never payed too much attention to the stat unless I was specifically hunting certain bosses (queen, kuba, Grava). I believe there is a salve that can push that resistance to a decent place.
So, not long ago I hit my first level 100 character. I wanted to use it to grind for materials for a second character in SR. I was killing it till about shard 60... at which point I started getting one hit by things. I can't get through without being one hit by at least the 3+ bosses waiting for me at the end of each Shard meaning that I'm missing out on all the best material drops. Looking at your video I see that I am missing out on most of these stats, My resistances are really good except for stun, which is a problem. But my DA and Armor stats are missing the mark big time. Is there a good basic set of items I can find or craft that land me closer to these stats? I just need to make the grinding more viable. And based on what you are saying here, I am getting one-shot by single abilities so my guess is that it's some combination of things that is making that happen to me. I am playing a very "tanky" build that is supposedly made to face tank things but now that isn't happening.
I didn't understand too much from your video, but don't blame yourself for that. My brain is pretty simplistic and can't comprehend stats and formulae too well, so it's its fault xD But I'm just downloading GD as I type this (should be done in 20 minutes or so) and gonna play the shit out of it. I remember to have finished it some years ago, but mostly because I wanted to finish it, not because I liked it. On the contrary, it had many things that have pissed me off at that time and after rage uninstalling it twice I went on every forum and GD related site available and talked against it. And now, all of a sudden I got a sudden urge to replay it, don't know why but like I said, gonna play the shit out of it and this time I intent to finally unlock the hardest difficulty level. I guess your video might come in handy at some point.... That's all I wanted to say, and I realize that it doesn't interest you in the slightest, but... waiting for something to download while you badly want to play it is hard... really hard.
