    Updates:
    Mingda's response to the mis-aligned homing mechanism was that the issue was caused by "violent transportation", and not a "product design problem"
    The missing unload button was intentional, not a bug. Mingda intend you to snip off the old filament, and extrude fresh filament through - not a fan of this decision!
    They've also provided a voucher code for $20 off, use code "DRXDSYVM7N05"

    • @EsotericArctos
      @EsotericArctos 2 года назад +3

      Mingda are usually pretty good, but what they told you just seems like excuses. Mind you, they wouldn't want to potentially admit they had a design flaw. I very much do not like the snip and feed filament option. I think I would want to find alternate firmware to restore the unload option as clip and feed seems quite wasteful.

    Just a thought Sam, this printer could make blocks of scenery. For a 2 foot by 3 foot n gauge layout you could print the entire thing in sections, landscape, buildings, tunnels and trackbed ready to lay the track. Just glue them to a board and paint!

    You seem to be addicted to 3D printers :). Mingda are usually pretty good pritners.
    I ended up with a Creality Ender 5, which is a decent sized printer, but what I liked about it is it is not a "bed slinger". The bed only moves in Z axis, and the head itself moves in X and Y axis.
    I think a 3D printer is almost an essential tool for railway modelling these days, whether it be for creating your only rolling stock, scenary or just boxes to cover your electrical stuff.
    I use to think glue etc was needed on build plates, but then I found a really thorough clean and a good bed levelling solved my adhesion issues and after the first 3 rolls of filament experimenting, I have never had to use anything on any build surface for adhesion. Maybe I was lucky to get a really good set up as I do know a lot of people use adhesion assistants.

    Thank you. This is a great video and review. I have the Magician X and I have been having trouble with the model sticking to the plate. I think it is something that could be corrected with the baby steps adjustment. Could you do a video of "Tips and Tricks" for Magician 3D printers. For example: What does it look like when Z is too low? What does it look like when Z is too high? What happens when temperatures are too low? What happens when temperatures are too high? How to know when the nozzle needs replacing? I notices that you used a glue stick. Do you do that for each print? Every third print? once a day? I have had a problem with grit in the extruder gears which I took apart and cleaned. Where did you buy new nozzles, from Mingda? or from Amazon? As you can see I am a beginner at this and your videos are very much appreciated. Thanks.

    • @SamsTrains
      @SamsTrains  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Robert - yes a bit of fine tuning with the baby step is essential, and also using glue on the build plate... you can also lightly scrub the build plate with IPA and a toothbrush after every couple of prints, which renews the stickiness for several cycles. And definitely - I'm thinking of doing a video full of 3D printing tips and tricks :D
      Thanks for watching - Sam :)

    Mr.Sam, will you ever consider building a OO9 scale layout to go with your OO scale layout. OO9 scale is the narrow gauge partner of OO scale. You can even make your own printed narrow gauge engines if you like.

    Hey Sam, I want to make a suggestion. You've mentioned before about these printers which don't have an enclosure and I was wondering if it would be possible for you to make your own? I was thinking if you can get some Plexiglas and cut it to size, you could build a decent enclosure which would simply sit over top of the printer on a table. You could use strong tape or glue to secure the edges together and tape could also be used to make a hinge to put a door on to access the print bed. Honestly if you could look into this, it may make for a great video and possibly help others out who would like an enclosure for their printers as well.

    Sam, video idea. With how expensive oo9 locomotives are, it would be cool to see if you can produce a narrow guage steam locomotive of your own design that beets the big companies. As with your Gladstone, you could get pre made wheels from a few second hand N Guage locomotives. Gordon's Hill top station would also be epic with a narrow guage line from from Gordon's Hill mountains 😀
    And awesome video as always Sam 😀

Some work to do to convert it to AC Märklin K-rail, but we do have a plan which should work including reversing. Hey Sam. I commented on your last 3D printing video, so I have a question and an update for you.
    The question is, do you think you could conceivably fit a soldering iron to one of your printers so you could print metal parts? I know someone’s done it somewhere, but if you think this is ill-advised, by all means ignore it!
    The update: On your last 3D printing video, I asked you if I could design something for the Balancing Coaches. I ordered an engineering compass and some other supplies to do it and they arrived a few days ago. So what I’d like to know is, do you want me to download CAD or Sketchup (whichever one you use) so I can build it in there and just send you the file? Or is it okay with you if I just draw it and then send you the drawings so you can build it?
    I really hope you like it, by the way. I call it the “Lift Fulcrum Axlebox & Cantilever Addon.” Can you guess what that means?
    EDIT: Should point out that I was thinking of sending these to you so you could print them and maybe show them on your channel. Would you consider that?

    Sam, I think you need to be taught how not to get greedy. You've got two printers already. This is a no-no, if you've already got something else on pre-order, which you have. You should be in a situation where you have enough money for either a £400 printer, ridiculous price, which you can't find space for, or Dapol Manor model, less expensive. You can't afford both. I'm ashamed of you. Don't come crying to me, if you find your Manor model payment hasn't gone through, due to insufficient funds in your account.😠

    • @azuma892

    • @SamsTrains
      @SamsTrains  2 года назад +1

      Actually, I have three printers already, this makes four! But don't worry - I use these machines to make models which I can sell, and I still have plenty of shelf space for new engines... so don't worry about me!
      Thanks for watching - Sam :)

  • @kellyashfordtrains2642
    @kellyashfordtrains2642 2 года назад

    Just where do you think you can put this fourth printer, so you don't knock it over the edge, and seriously damage it? Get rid of it and two of the others. You don't need four I'm sure. I thought one was enough to make you happy. Should you be selling the models you make, when we have proper manufacturers out there, who are striving to make us happy? I'd stop selling your models if I were you, as it may eventually lead to unwanted trouble.

    • @SamsTrains
      @SamsTrains  2 года назад

      That's a good question Kelly - I've replaced the chair you can see behind me with a new table. The models I make are ones that the proper manufacturers won't... hopefully you'll agree when you see my next product! :D
