    Congratulations on the 100oz bar! I got one earlier this year, and will definitely get another one soon. Your video was great, it answered almost all of the questions that I was thinking, mostly on your ridiculous tax. 20% !!! That's exactly like buying 120 ounces, and the government saying, "Well, you did buy this with your own money, but we'll take 20 ounces from you for no reason." That would burn me up.

    • @BackyardBullion
      @BackyardBullion  2 года назад +4

      Thanks my friend, I appreciate that feedback. Yeah, it's not great with the taxes added on, but I still think it's a great choice and a great bar.

    • @rokinrandy

      That has burned me up every since I got out on my own. It’s a rat race. slavery is a fitting term. I see over 50% when it comes to taxation when you add it all up. I don’t accept it’s a part a life we can do better.

    You went with the 100 oz bar, nice! ... Just picked up a 100 oz. Silver towne bar myself today. It may be second hand, but I could not beat the $1.50 per oz. over spot price.

    Yep, totally agree with your ‘bars vs. coins’ reasoning. I am also moving more towards 10oz or above bars for my stack strategy. That GM bar is pure gorgeousness too! I can only dream… 😂😂😂

      I recently heard that if the economy gets really bad, the government could confiscate bullion, particularly from a foreign mint. Apparently, only American silver coins would be safe from confiscation. Something like this happened before in American history. You might want to look into it.

    I'm collecting a 10oz silver three graces next week. I dont have an issue with 10oz silver bars, a bit annoyed that the QB completer was initially issued as 1kg, if I had known the 10oz equivalent was soon to follow, I would have waited

    I _SOLD_ not one, but TWO of my 500oz American Silver Eagle monster boxes in May 2023 (still have six boxes left) and rec'd a grand total of *$30,565.18* for the two boxes. What did I do with the proceeds? Are you sitting down? I bought bitcoin-a total of 1.10584189 BTC to be exact. What is the value of that bitcoin today, seven months later? As of 15 DEC 2023, that 1.1 BTC is worth $47,130.98-an increase of $16,565.80 or 54%. The kicker is that I could turn around today and _repurchase_ two Silver Eagle monster boxes for _LESS_ than I was paid for those two back in May.
    Note: I won't edit this comment later, but it will be interesting to see what that 1.1 BTC will be worth in 2024. My prediction-again, this comment will not be edited-is that the 1.1 BTC will be worth $110,000 by the end of 2024.
    _Bitcoin is to gold/silver as the automobile was to the horse and buggy._

      If there is such an easy gain and huge profits awaiting ... in the World trading /selling/buying those Computer Digital Codes a.k.a. Bitcoin, in the invisible thin air of virtual reality cyberspace ... why are there actually billions of people going to work daily .....and millions of farmers planting corps. These ordinary fellows should all be sitting at home ... next to their Computers ...selling and buying Computer Codes. Or, be maintaining their array set-ups of Computers ... bars make sense when you get them close to spot, paying coin premium prices on a bar doesn't make sense so much as you lose fractional flexibility, CGT benefits on legal tender etc.

    You have to pay vat tax when you buy and CGT when you sell. Bars are not exempt in uk

    • @BackyardBullion
      @BackyardBullion  2 года назад

      You don't have to pay CGT unless you make a profit and that profit has to be more than £12000 per person (so £24000 if you are married) per year. So, CGT is almost irrelevant

    • @BackyardBullion
      @BackyardBullion  2 года назад

      Also, you only pay VAT when you buy from a dealer that is VAT registered.

    • @ceasarsalad119
      @ceasarsalad119 2 года назад

      @@BackyardBullion I just buy RM coins and save myself the hassle. Silver is Silver whether its a bar or a coin. I don't like CGT since you are paying for not making anything. If you do a £100 investment in 2022 and it rises to £200 in a 10 year period on paper you've doubled your money but if inflation goes up by more than 100% in that time you've actually lost spending power. Then they want you to pay more just because.

    • @BackyardBullion
      @BackyardBullion  2 года назад +1

      Silver and gold are not about making money like that though, they are the protection for your wealth. In the case you gave that is exactly what gold and silver are designed to do. Don't think of them as a traditional investment.

    • @ceasarsalad119
      @ceasarsalad119 2 года назад

      @@BackyardBullion I don't think of them as a traditional investment. i see them as wealth protection. If the money put into gold in 2022 has the same spending power 10 years later I struggle to see why we must pay CGT and reduce it to the point of loss. Just because its gone up in face value doesn't mean we've made anything from it. I see metals the same as you, I'm just questioning why we should pay CGT when we haven't made any gain from a spending power perspective. I know there's an allowance of 12k but I'm really talking about CGT in general.

    Buy the type that most suits your goals. If you think the financial system is about to collapse and you want something to barter with, buy some coins. if you are just buying as much as you can for as cheap as you can and just going to dump it all after your goals are met, then by the lowest premium bars you can get your hands on. If you want to cover all possibilities, get a bunch of fractional, 1, 10 oz coins and bars and youre good to go. Also worthy of note, See what your local dealer will accept. some get a bit funny about buying large 100 oz bars, or will do so under spot to hedge their bets. Know your exit strategy.

      U probly knew the above already so what's your reason why it's not money?
      Fungible: its individual units must be capable of mutual substitution (i.e., interchangeability).
      Durable: able to withstand repeated use.
      Divisible: divisible to small units.
      Portable: easily carried and transported.
      Acceptable: everyone must accept the money as payment
      Limited in supply: its supply in circulation must be limited

    The 100 oz. bar is a weird awkward format. First of all, I hate the Imperial units, they are so retardedly complex. Second, it's just an awkward random size.
