I LOVED my first bar. It was the 5oz. It was very pretty and not very expensive at all. I ordered more, haha. The box was also a very nice touch and made the overall purchase awesome. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to try out bars but doesn't want a huge commitment. 5oz is not too big at all and gives you a great start point.
There is a great spread in premiums for these bars. I have seen a $60+ difference between JM Bullion and Monument Metal, Bold Precious metal and Hero Bullion, it seriously pays to shop around!
The premium is because of the international shipping costs plus the high quality make of the germania products, their overall appearance certainly surpasses our domestic jm bullion and monumental metal bars. Also the germania mint produces much less bars compared to JM, silver town etc.
I just received my 100 g bars today and the quality is just as superb as their kilo bars. Every bit of quality and attention to detail is on par. I absolutely love their bars. Great review and packaging info!
Thanks for the info and confidence boost, as I've recently purchased 250g, 500g, and 1kg bars of Germania Mint silver and am glad to hear this info about them. They are all packaged the same way.
Bro, that beginning comment with the “razzle dazzle hands” was hysterical! 😂🤣 I love these Germania kilos and I stack them. And I too order from Monument. Yeah it's only a bar but if one stores that bar with other silver, the PVC could affect that silver too. I'll have more to discuss on the Germania mint at a later time, and one of those points is what you touched on, the premium on the rounds. Thanks for watching!

Dude yes! Those coins are so detailed, it's amazing. I have seen some of the Allegory coins milk spot, which is unfortunate but maybe they are working on that process too. Thanks for watching brother!
The chemical reaction works a bit different than explained but you are right PVC and silver is not a good combination. Keep all silver in plastic away from heat and sunlight.

"BAR NONE" (pun intended), this is the prettiest bar I've seen and it's reasonably priced. Hopefully will be able to pick up more at some point.
Nadir also has their Silver in plastic, but the 100oz bars are not "shrunk wrapped", ... just in "loose" plastic. Not sure if there is much of a difference. I just bought 5 of the 100oz Germania bars (haven't arrived yet), so this info is of interest to me.
To clarify...the paper box should be acid free cotton fiber. If it is a wood pulp fiber it may contain sulfuric acid which is why news paper turns yellow
As far as I understood silver has longevity of 10k years or more and should over time not lose more than a few grams of its mass. Correct me if I am wrong, but would this not suggest that taking the bar out of the plastic even if it has low PVC would be better? Interesting dilemma to keep "naked" in the box or to find out "how PVC" would influence it over 10-20 years?
To me, the best thing to do is to remove the PVC wrapping, put the bar back into the cardboard box and wrap it with sealing plastic with a little bag of moisture-absorbing silica, and then of course put It away in a relatively free-of-moisture spot.
Bottom line... Yes, the film contains PVC. There are many non poly vinyl chloride shrink films available for use. There is no excuse to use PVC with any silver products today knowing the damage potential.
Nice bar. They do good work. I prefer the pressed machined bars. Just me. I take the wrap off, put it in an air tite. Easy to open, handle, replace.. I do have poured, just leave them wrapped.
Yep, that is a definitely a good solution to the potential issue. Typically, I'm not a fan of cast bars as they look "generic" but the way they polish this bar, it's certainly changed my mind, as least with them.
@@CampbellsCoins It is a beautiful bar. I plan on buying some myself. I love poured silver, and have a lot. Just kinda anal about keeping my stack organized. The box is a definite plus.
It’s actually the sulfuric acid in plastics which causes the chemical reaction with silver that is the issue. Some plastics have higher content of sulfur than others and plasticizers are most common used in making plastics less rigid. Even HDPE contains .247% sulfur and that’s the most common type used. The thing I’ve noticed with my older Gieger bars is when the seam is compromised that’s the area that will start to oxidize and spread from there.
Thanks for doing the leg work--I bought 2 of these kilos from Monument in July. Good to know they will do ok long term in the plastic. Worse case scenario I guess they could be unwrapped and just kept in the box? The 500g Germania bar was an even slightly better deal than the kilo... ha and sure enough it is sold out on Monument currently!
That's a great point, if one is still concerned, they can cut them from the plastic and store them in an airtite. I know they test the plastic wrapping but I'm not sure how well they test the raw silver in their boxes. Ink and the content of the paper box can affect the silver just as much as PVC. The plastic at least keeps a barrier there for everything. I'll include this in my next round of questions to them and report back in a future video.
@@CampbellsCoins Thank you most kindly! My brother got a Perth kilo real cheap with the Ape pricing on SilverGoldBull... but that comes loose just in a half sleeve of poly padding. How are the typical seal packs for long term storage, or do you figure it would vary based on the plastic used by each mint?
I have 3 of the kilo bars from Germania. The one I opened up and took the hologram sticker off of actually weighs less than 1000 grams. I've had many pieces weigh .1 over but never one that was short on weight. I should weigh the other two as well.
I rewatched this I just saw this I thought Germania were ALWAYS .9999 Bars as you mentioned. thxs. R, Don in Pennsylvania /// Edit 12/2023 Have mine 3 years No Damage Love them.
I imagine is has to do with the durability of the wrapping. Non PVC plastic is extremely brittle and is affected greatly by heat. Stay tuned for those answers.
I like em....I bought a 100 gram bar a few months back....more for the brand then the weight....think I paid 90 USD for em....high premium but I like the packaging
Something else I noticed from the Germania bars are their sizes... 5oz 10oz and 250g are smaller than usual bars. Waiting on the kilo bar hopefully it’s smaller in size as well.
Great video! My kilo came with what looked like milk stains but I took off the plastic and rubbed it with my cloth gloves and it seems to have come off almost completely. I’m on the fence with this issue. Wanted to know for future germania purchases what are the risks involved with both leaving the plastic on and taking it off. Is there any cases where the wrapping has ruined anyones Germania products? Will these products sell for less without the plastic, and does the sticker on the back fall off easier without the plastic? If that sticker falls off can it be put back on? I’ve seen RUclips videos where people both keep them on & take them off. In love with this mint any advise is greatly appreciated!
Hi Joako, I'm doing a follow up video on this topic and it will be out in November. A few of my kilos have developed milky spots like what you're describing. I think it has to do with storage. I had these in a warmer location. One that I kept in the house looks perfectly fine without issue. All of mine arrived without these spots though. I'll cover what you're asking in that video. Thank you!
So I just won a 10oz bar from germania in a giveaway, and I am curious.. a year later did you take the bar out of the plastic and if not, how is it holding up? If you did remove the plastic how are you storing it?
Good thing to look into. But I think it's a more robust plastic. I have 1990 silver maples in the original plastic with zero issues including zero milk spots.
Just hit 821 oz of Germania mint bars. 500 oz of 10oz bars and 10 kilos of 500 gram bars. Filled a .30 cal ammo can to the top. Can not get another 10 oz in there.....looks like I need a bigger ammo can. 😂🎉
HAY guys I got 5 kilo bars from them and Thay came in the mint box of 5 and were 4 9999s fine. And i got them for 1.79 over spot. And Thay are bad ass.
Yes. But they are very expensive. Check out my LCS Avenue Coin or try Monument Metals. Either are cheaper options and just as reliable. I receive nothing from either business.
I couldn't even begin to give an estimate on the timeframe BUT you can slow the process by storing silver in a dry cool dark space. Avoiding heat and sunlight seems to be a winning formula.
Thank you for the info! I am new to all of this, and haven't thought much at all to the subject of preservation. Perhaps an airtight case, with oxygen absorbers? Thanks again!
An airtite case is good as those don't contain PVCs. I'm not sure if oxygen absorbers work but I use them in my coin and bar storage heavily. Thanks for watching!
Oxygen absorbers are pointless. Gold doesn't tarnish at all. Silver does, but it isn't reacting with oxygen. Sulfur is the main culprit that "tones" silver.
@@mrsrabbit2712 I was wondering the same thing about sulfur absorbers. Technically, the answer is "yes, there are." I don't think that the scrubbers they put on power plants are really what we're looking for though..
When I found the Germanian bars, I too read all of the concerns about the PVC wrappers. A good bit of reading about the PVC formulations online eased my fears a good deal. And the reading I was doing was from the scientific community NOT the rabble of teen age "experts" who are choking youtube with their professional advice! I think you bought some bars a few days before I bought my latest bars last week but I noticed something odd..... All of the bars I purchased from April thru last week are all stamped 999.9. Every Germanian bar (250g, 10oz and 500g) I have is stamped 999.9. I wonder why your bar is stamped 999?
Germania changed the fineness of their silver last year from three nines fine to four nines fine. Very unusual for a mint but extra processing they went through.
Unavailable to purchase in Uk. Coins at a high premium but germania silver bars no longer any distributors thought the germania mint website gives links , none sell any silver bars
Very much so , limited on places to purchase. I’ve been able to go via an old coin store website purchasing pre own bullion at cheaper than popular bullion sites as their premium and vat ontop makes a single Oz purchase expensive . Enjoying the content 💙🙏🏻
What makes a bar better than the other? I see Metalor kilo bars are the cheapest. Then Germanium Mint is mid range. Then Pamp is the most expensive. These are the 3 bars I'm considering. Is it the name brand? If I ever sold a Pamp kilo, I'd get more money back than if I had sold a Germanium Mint kilo? I like the Germanium Mint bar but it's super shiny. The Pamp and Metalor look like they are white which I kinda like better. If the coin shop is going to give me the same price regardless of the brands, I might just get the Metalor kilo.
So I might've forgotten somewhere along the way, but what are the pros & cons of buying a bar over a coin? How big is the bars compared to coins? Any recommendations on which bars to get? Or is there a video I could look up?
Pros for bars is most of the time are closer to spot price and usually less in premium compared to coins, so more wise to stack with bars as it's more about the silver weight price than the collectability when it comes to cashing in.
This is a great group of questions. I have a video on the back burner on this topic but haven't released it yet. I can give you a summation here. As the viewer commented below, typically, bars will have lower premiums over coins. Since this huge boost in silver demand, this hasn't really been the case, premiums rival that of coins. And by coins, I'm referring to sovereign mints producing their coins, United States Silver Eagle, Australian Kangaroo, Canadian Maple leaf, etc. Bars typically come in a huge variety of sizes for all sorts of wallets. Whereas coins typically are 1oz, 2oz, 5oz, 10oz and the occasional kilo. The 5oz and 10oz coins are not something that is wildly popular, but that depends on the mint. If you were to sell bars, LCS or dealers would give you generic pricing. On coins though, they typically will pay slightly better. Basically, it comes down to personal preference; which do you like more? I have both for different reasons. I'll try to have something soon regarding this topic.
My kilo bars from them are perfect. I recently got a batch of the 500 gram bars and they all have this white milk type layer on the entire face of the bars. It’s extremely disappointing… have you had any issues with your bars since publishing this video?
My kilo bar had that, which is why I took the plastic off and rubbed it wearing gloves and surprisingly it came off and hasn’t come back. I’m hoping it won’t be the case with my 100gram bars I just ordered I would rather have them wrapped in plastic
Yes I have and I agree it is disappointing. I'm going to have a follow up video on this topic coming out soon. May I ask, where did you store these? Temp, direct sunlight, etc. I had a few bars in a warm location but out of the sun, and they developed the milky layer. One kept in the house, out of the sun and zero milkiness. Your input would help present ideas to folks. Thanks!
@@CampbellsCoins the 500 gram bars as well as the 10 oz bars had the white layer from the moment I received and opened the package. My kilo bars are still in excellent condition. They are stored in my sealed gun safe (by sealed I literally mean the safe is rated “fully submergible up to 45’ underwater”). I personally feel like the germania mint wasn’t focused on quality while making the “2nd production batch” of these, rather they were focused on quantity due to the demand. The kilo bars that I have had zero issues with were purchased the same day they became available. If you’ve noticed, they have 2 different varieties, we will call them Gen 1 and Gen 2. The Gen 1 was the first production and were made .999 fine. The Gen 2 are the bars that have been available more recently and are stamped .9999 fine. These bars include the 1 kilo, 500 gram, 250 gram, 100 gram, 10 oz, and the 5 oz. This is my personal opinion and what I have noticed. Thanks for the reply CC
Unless if you want save the bars to your 10th generation child, then yes, it may deteriorate a bit, but not to the point that the plastic will dilute and contaminate silver if..IF it is stored in a humid and sunny weather IE right in the Amazon forest.

@@CampbellsCoins It is a beautiful bar. I plan on buying some myself. I love poured silver, and have a lot. Just kinda anal about keeping my stack organized. The box is a definite plus.
I hate the razzle dazzle hands. Good video, Doc. 👍
Was it a better deal? Bummer missed out. Gotta wait now 😊
@@thespinkadu Just a few bucks better than the kilo, maybe 10 cents premium per oz. Nothing too dramatic. Grab a kilo instead! 🤑
I should weigh the other two as well.
were the other ones short too?
@@bullmeatt no, just the one.
Those bars ate gonna look great once toned
Their New Versions… Are All 999.9 Fine
Out of Poland My Fav Bars. It’s what I Give @ Graduations Parties !
Well, then it's settled. In twenty years when you open up the black Gemania box, there will just be a plastic wrapper left inside.
I rewatched this I just saw this I thought Germania were ALWAYS .9999 Bars as you mentioned. thxs. R, Don in Pennsylvania /// Edit 12/2023 Have mine 3 years No Damage Love them.
New bars are (4) nines fine. Older ones are (3) nines fine. When I made the video, I referenced .9999 but my older bars are .999
tyvm for the info Happy Stackin eh!
Any time!
So, the questions remain--why do they use a wrapper that could do ANY damage, ever, and WHAT specific plasticizer are they using?
I imagine is has to do with the durability of the wrapping. Non PVC plastic is extremely brittle and is affected greatly by heat. Stay tuned for those answers.
Why? Because they ship out a polished bar, and they believe that the customer wants the bar to STAY shiny. Sealing it is how that is accomplished.
Thank you!
...so beauty!
So I just won a 10oz bar from germania in a giveaway, and I am curious.. a year later did you take the bar out of the plastic and if not, how is it holding up?
If you did remove the plastic how are you storing it?
I haven't removed the plastic from these bars yet. I don't have them stored at home so and I haven't checked in a while.
Now i'm curious about the RCM 10 oz bars and the plastic on those
Good thing to look into. But I think it's a more robust plastic. I have 1990 silver maples in the original plastic with zero issues including zero milk spots.
Enjoy your video and just subscribed :)
Thank you so much!
Just hit 821 oz of Germania mint bars. 500 oz of 10oz bars and 10 kilos of 500 gram bars. Filled a .30 cal ammo can to the top. Can not get another 10 oz in there.....looks like I need a bigger ammo can. 😂🎉
Haha nice!
Anyone who knows Germania Mint knows their Quality control & attention to Detain are unmatched....
I love germania
HAY guys I got 5 kilo bars from them and Thay came in the mint box of 5 and were 4 9999s fine. And i got them for 1.79 over spot. And Thay are bad ass.
Great deal Judy! They are bad ass. I got that same bundle.
@@CampbellsCoins Thanks will buy more in 2023
Interesting!
Looking to purchase a decent amount of physical gold. Is APMEX a reliable source to buy gold coins/bars?
Yes. But they are very expensive. Check out my LCS Avenue Coin or try Monument Metals. Either are cheaper options and just as reliable. I receive nothing from either business.
@@CampbellsCoins thank you
GREAT VIDEO BROTHER!
Thank you!
So you cant store them in the good pvc for longterm..like 20yrs? It sounds like they could still get tarnished...
I couldn't even begin to give an estimate on the timeframe BUT you can slow the process by storing silver in a dry cool dark space. Avoiding heat and sunlight seems to be a winning formula.
I'm wondering why your Germania kilo bar is 999 ? I've not seen that with Germania before. Should be 999.9 Good info on the pcb topic
The originals were three 9s fine. They updated to four 9s about 8-12 months after it's initial release.
They're not only trying to satisfy their shareholders I am Magine they would be a great tourist destination to visit
Btw I like how you don't do the stupid finger show throughout your videos 👍
Hahaha, thank you.
@@johnsanford3596 thank you! I did not know this. This is great info.
Hmmm are there sulfur absorbers?
I'm gonna have to go down the Google Hole.
@@mrsrabbit2712 I was wondering the same thing about sulfur absorbers. Technically, the answer is "yes, there are." I don't think that the scrubbers they put on power plants are really what we're looking for though..
Would you leave it in the factory wrapping?
Yes, taking it out would lower the "value" in people's eyes, if you had to sell it.
Nice
thank you for no razzle dazzle hands
😅 you're welcome.
All of my Germania have been wrapped ovr 10 year no visibility of damages due to plastics it came in😊
Hmmm, Germania Mint has only been around since 2018...
My bad 8
U right ✅️ 8
When I found the Germanian bars, I too read all of the concerns about the PVC wrappers.
That's a bummer. UK has a lot of restrictions.
Very much so , limited on places to purchase. I’ve been able to go via an old coin store website purchasing pre own bullion at cheaper than popular bullion sites as their premium and vat ontop makes a single Oz purchase expensive .
Enjoying the content 💙🙏🏻
thank you for this
Why your kg bar says 3x9 fine, other Tuber's are 4x9 fine? Versions any different?
Mine were the originals they released. The subsequent releases have four 9s fine quality.
@@CampbellsCoins Understood, thank you sir !
What is the Germania website?
what do you think about the plastic from the FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer? Safe?
SOLD On Germania Mint.
Does anyone make acrylic coin capsules for these bars?
For the kilo sizes, I don't believe so. I've only seen PAMP in their proprietary capsules.
Why germania bars compared to others?
Love Germania Mint silver bars .9999, four 9's is better than three.. lol
Is it easy to sell in New york?
Should be the same as any other state.
Unless if you want save the bars to your 10th generation child, then yes, it may deteriorate a bit, but not to the point that the plastic will dilute and contaminate silver if..IF it is stored in a humid and sunny weather IE right in the Amazon forest.
Could you do Jazz Hands though?
I could, but I'm not a mime.
