I have one of the newer SOCP models with the updated clip and it carries very nicely IWB at 1 o'clock canted inward. I do wish it had more positive retention but it hasn't been an issue for me so far. Never leave the house without it and my Endura.

Finally have both of these; really like this style of knife (non-karambit ring knife) and also recommended the 'Miseracordia' from Extrema Ratio in the same category.

Good stuff, I carry a socp as an edc blade in conjunction with folding blade. I carry with the clip in the front pocket. the spartan blades socp is a better sheath package imho, but benchmade package is much more economical..also fyi the spartan blades socp is s35vn steel if that means anything to ppl out there, that has influence on the price as well, in contrast my old benchmade socp was one from the first run and was 154cm, but i let a buddy take it off my hands as per the sheath snafus, but i kept the trainer. spartan blades does offer a trainer as well, its pretty dope just sayin, i like your comparisons

Law enforcement in Australia considering a benchmade for inside the Molle on my duty belt to the front for worst case scenarios. My question, the retention on the sheath, enough so that should a struggle go to ground is the knife likely to slip out? Thanks for the review very interesting. I own and train with the socp dagger. I carry it 1 o clock iwb for cross draw with the clip holding the fabric of the Jeans. And it never ever came out with the sheath so for me that works very good. I also considered the cck01 but honestly a 6mm blade ? I think thats to thicc and will hinder Penetration. But maybe im wrong on that. Have you tried penetration on something like a heavy bag wrapped with and old Jeans or something else? I sometimes do these tests and i feel 4mm should be the max Stock thickness for tactical self defense blades.
    Have a nice day sir.

Ill have to do some side by side testing, im sure i have some things that i can poke around here :-)
Some advice i got from yeager that like usual- i questioned. Clips fail. Always. Period. On my way to a vehicle tactics class for farbham at dti in vegas and what happened? I drew my pistol and the holster came with it... after which it happened every time.
No immediate access to the trigger.
Imagine if that happened under stress!? I was so embarassed!
With the socp- have you done any rolling/ ju-jitsu type training with it? To pass the "does it work reliably" test imho you have to sprint and fight with it, role with it, be under stress with it, because that is the environment for which it is meant to be deployed.

@@richardhenry1969 yeah, cold steal isn’t close to benchmade, nor is kershaw. Not even close. I own quite a few. I understand wanting to save money but damn. People complain about cost then complain about not finding good jobs in the US. I especially hold a little grudge towards people buying (tactical) Flashlights, optics and other other weapons from outside the US. Kinda defeats the purpose in my opinion. I understand when there aren’t other options but when there are I think it’s doing a big disservice. We should put our money where our mouth is. Especially when it comes to personal defense and the 2nd amendment.
I also get it if there is no real upside when comparing the quality to the price but come on, there is no comparison between kershaw or cold steal and benchmade. Spiderco is close but is also made over seas.

Benchmade has lead the knife world in many many ways. For instance creating the absolute best otf automatic knife. Pioneering the use of G10 “pretty much a knife world mainstay nowadays”, being the first to use things like titanium liners and bronze bushings. Creating the strongest and first innovation in locking tech for literally generations. I could go on. Cold steal gives their knives cool names and paints them black.

On a serious note: love the honest review and some practical experience (even if it didn't involve blood other than your own... possibly), and the compare and contrast. I find the SOCP shaky, primarily because there is very little to get a hold onto to get it out: 1-inch circle which is partially inaccessible. Only issue I have with this video is this guy saying that 440C Stainless is “Tougher” than D2 Tool Steel. That is just false! D2 is by far tougher. 440C is a great Stainless Steel, but the higher chromium content makes it more brittle, which makes it less tough, and worn take an edge as well as the D2.
