Informative, Entertaining, Use of terms for east and West. A Unique explanation of a Unique Triangle system. AND EX MUSIC! Dood this is Beyond the quality that we deserve! Thank you!🙏
This concept was one of the highlights of the Devil Jin video, it's cool you made a standalone video about it ! helped me immensely to start grasping neutral when I started playing
Kuroten put me onto this concept first and as it turns out, like with most things in Tekken, I'm only now able to exercise this information after almost a year. I'm such a sloth of a learner.
Damn, this was a great reminder! This is a concept I've heard about so many times, but tend to forget about in my gameplay. This video should help me be more mindful of my gameplan
So uh, keepout-rushdown-whiff punish is basically the attack-defend-expand of fighting games. It's kinda rare that I basically understand a notion after watching the video one time, but that's why I keep coming to this channel. Great work as always.
Man not only was this a great showing of nuetral concepts but also a great presentation of how 2d and 3d fgs differ in their own ways and how theyre both equally and cool and unique
This is literally the first video on this topic i have personally come across doing it as well as you have, and let's not even talk about the level of quality . Welldone!!
Even though I don't think any fighting game aside from Tekken is worth playing and I don't care how they work, the video taught me some concepts regarding Tekken and was well done. Thanks, my dude.
Nobi did similar video a while ago: ruclips.net/video/gZDkPzQxqXE/видео.html He used different terminology and divided moves into different categories: okiwaza, whiff punishes and mixups. His video is much longer and he shows examples in real time on his stream, very good video.
Looked up 三すくみ just now and in Japanese it means any three choices that each have one other choice that they beat, and one choice that they lose against, and most of the examples given in the wikipedia point to various rock-paper-scissors analogues including various examples in games (such as fighting games, but also including games with three elements that beat each other etc) According to google the Japanese terms for Rushdown -> Whiff Punish -> Keep Out are 攻め (seme) (means literally "attack") -> スカ確 (sukakaku) (means literally "confirm whiff") -> 置き (oki) (means "place [an attack in the space between you and your opponent]")
Sansukumi in platfrom fighters If yall are wandering: nasb1 smash melee project m/+ are rushdown style platfrom fighters smash ultimate smash 4 and flash party are keep out mid to long range style of games Multiversus beta and now brawlhalla and Rivals 2 are wiff punish heavy game
I like how you showed HWOARANG whiff punishing jabs with b3, JUST LIKE I DO, AND IM REVERED RULER MY FRIEND. Even tho often i can can squeeze it through, i probably shouldn't do that.
Its because of channels like TBS; that getting(getting back) into Fighting Games nowadays are so Fun and Exciting! Back in the Arcade Scene, We have to learn everything ourselves, They are some kind people who will show you the ropes. tho that only happens after they beat you multiple times which already took a large chunk of your allowance for coins/card swipes. (Which can be very disheartening ^^; )
you can also mention that moves like julia's magic 4 string (the 4 into low into launcher) and zafina's df1,2,1 are also a great tools to punish players who try to whiff punish on their opponents twitching. Julia's string in particular is good because you get a really high damage launcher and... we all know how much damage julia does.
A TBS video with Street Fighter EX music? Yes, give it to me. The neutral definitely is something that I struggle with, especially since the characters I play aren't really unga-bunga characters nor are they Mishimas. Who needs neutral when you can just Electric every two seconds?
I think it's something that happens naturally. Even in real combat, people have observed the same dynamic. The Book of Five Rings, written by Miyamoto Musashi, talks about 3 ways of forestalling the opponent, which is fairly similar idea to Sansukumi/RPS
Coming back, I realized that a keepout move is better with short or evasive recovery so it cannot be easily whiff punished... but keepout is supposed to lose to whiff punishing. Isn't reversing that rock-paper-scissors that kind of bad design? It's like I suddenly had a rushdown tool (like a running 2, or an attack out of mishima wavedash) that just crushed keepout tools. (It's too hard to apply an idea like that to whiff punishing.)
From my experience Tekke 7's sansukumi comes off as pretty stagnant. And I'm talking from both my play experience and watching pro's play. Maybe its down to who I follow but I usually run into tekken players favouring waiting for whiffs to happen or doing very baitey offense/keepout with hardly no emphasis on aggression. My take? The neutral in this game is wayy to volatile so players just sit back.
Shout out to Soul Calibur's Hayate for explaining all of these concepts earlier, better and with a French accent. Soul Calibur didn't get a mention, but weapon fighters mean that attack ranges vary wildly and make for more distinctive neutrals
This video should be called "Fighting Game Tips". Literally the core concept of fighting games in one video.
bro i want to point out so many things in terms of quality but i dont want to write an essay, killer guide my man
Do it
I dare you to write an essay even if you don't want to
Piss off mat
We need this guy to make in-game guides in tekken 8
Replying to this message today, now that Tekken 8 is pretty much around the corner
replying to this as a beginner starting with tekken 8
the infinite azure at 0:10-0:42 is one of the prettiest things i’ve seen in a game wow
Informative,
Entertaining,
Use of terms for east and West.
A Unique explanation of a Unique Triangle system.
AND EX MUSIC!
Dood this is Beyond the quality that we deserve! Thank you!🙏
"TAKE WHAT YOU CAN GET!" -TBS, 2021
I have never taken words so personally regarding Tekken until now... This was the absolute truth...
one of the best fighting game channels on the entire site, you're killing it
The explanation was clear and straight to the point. Thank you TBS.
This concept was one of the highlights of the Devil Jin video, it's cool you made a standalone video about it ! helped me immensely to start grasping neutral when I started playing
Your quality matches that of Wes Anderson's films
Kuroten put me onto this concept first and as it turns out, like with most things in Tekken, I'm only now able to exercise this information after almost a year. I'm such a sloth of a learner.
No rush!
Damn, this was a great reminder! This is a concept I've heard about so many times, but tend to forget about in my gameplay. This video should help me be more mindful of my gameplan
Dude, very well done as always! It is so strange there are so few tutorials on neutral. Its the most important thing for god's sake.
So uh, keepout-rushdown-whiff punish is basically the attack-defend-expand of fighting games. It's kinda rare that I basically understand a notion after watching the video one time, but that's why I keep coming to this channel.
Great work as always.

I had to figure it out myself after losing so much, Thnx for supporting nubs and tekken community
You guys been putting a lot of work into these and it shows, another informative and entertaining video from TBS!
You guys contributing so much to Tekken community. I want to thank you. Keep up the good work
Even though I don't think any fighting game aside from Tekken is worth playing and I don't care how they work, the video taught me some concepts regarding Tekken and was well done. Thanks, my dude.
Music is Street Fighter EX3 - Rising Dragon (Ryu's Theme) for anyone wondering
Dude actually is a king of quality in term of throwing out accessible term like this
Nice1 man
Unmatched quality as always. Amazing stuff.
Seriously phenomenal guide! Been a fighting game fan my whole life but only just got into the depth of fighters and your videos are a great help.
FINALLY a dedicated video on Sansukumi!
Sansukumi?
This is the first time I've heard of it 😅
This concept here is deeper than most players can think...
Been thinking about this concept for a while so it's cool to see such an amazing video on it! Digestible, well-edited, brilliant.
A year or two ago Fergus distilled this for me and it resulted in a huge leap in my play. Good stuff, Salami and Applay!
Nobi did similar video a while ago: ruclips.net/video/gZDkPzQxqXE/видео.html
He used different terminology and divided moves into different categories: okiwaza, whiff punishes and mixups. His video is much longer and he shows examples in real time on his stream, very good video.
Man, this is simply awesome! Too much to say on quality, so kept it simple 😆
Keep on keepin' on!
Fantastic video man, love how you can easily apply all of this to other fighting games
Ive been really waiting just for this topic!
Namco hire this man: Face of guides yes ez money for you anyway. Stunning quality as always man keep going 🤞
I thought I knew this stuff tho this guide made it so much easier to understand. Keep up the great work
Amazing production, va, and content as always!

Great video as always! Simple concept but very hard to master, actually.
Tek-KAN out of ten video! Great stuff here!
Wow there are a lot of gems in this video!!! I’m going to have to go back and rewatch it!
Sansukumi in platfrom fighters If yall are wandering: nasb1 smash melee project m/+ are rushdown style platfrom fighters smash ultimate smash 4 and flash party are keep out mid to long range style of games
Multiversus beta and now brawlhalla and Rivals 2 are wiff punish heavy game
Now this is what I love
I like how you showed HWOARANG whiff punishing jabs with b3, JUST LIKE I DO, AND IM REVERED RULER MY FRIEND.
Even tho often i can can squeeze it through, i probably shouldn't do that.
Yet another great video
Fantastic video as always.
Great video as always!
This is an extremely well made video
Excellent vid!
10 seconds in...music selection onm point sir salami
This is still so helpful !!
As a intermediate tekken player myself, I am bryan main since tekken 3. Learning something new and upgrade my gaming skills is a way to go. xD

I can't believe you do these videos for free
you can also mention that moves like julia's magic 4 string (the 4 into low into launcher) and zafina's df1,2,1 are also a great tools to punish players who try to whiff punish on their opponents twitching. Great video like usual.
Namco should fund and support your video's, this is just too good.
Absolute banger video!
You guys should just make a new one for Tekken 8 so the algorithm picks it up for new players like myself 😂
A TBS video with Street Fighter EX music? Yes, give it to me.
The neutral definitely is something that I struggle with, especially since the characters I play aren't really unga-bunga characters nor are they Mishimas. Who needs neutral when you can just Electric every two seconds?
I came here as a Tekken beginner, but as a competitive Smash player with like 1800h+: Thank you
Nice... I had problems understanding the triangle of keep out.. rushdown..
G.O.A.T.’d RUclips channel
TBS when are you releasing the video about each tekken character and their identity? I saw your stream working on it about 2 months ago
Soon!
Very good video. Thanks for sharing
Never liked a video this fast
Beautiful infinite azure mod
I've heard about this footsies triangle thing many times but never heard it refered to as sansukumi
This video also tells you, play fighting game and your individuell playstyle will be rewarded
I wonder, did that dynamic happen naturally when fighting games were created or was it planned out, inspired by rock paper and scissors?
I think it's something that happens naturally.
Even in real combat, people have observed the same dynamic. The Book of Five Rings, written by Miyamoto Musashi, talks about 3 ways of forestalling the opponent, which is fairly similar idea to Sansukumi/RPS
Bamco, put this video in the main menu of Tekken 7 please. Thanks
I think nobi did a video about it recently too
Coming back, I realized that a keepout move is better with short or evasive recovery so it cannot be easily whiff punished... but keepout is supposed to lose to whiff punishing. Isn't reversing that rock-paper-scissors that kind of bad design?
It's like I suddenly had a rushdown tool (like a running 2, or an attack out of mishima wavedash) that just crushed keepout tools. (It's too hard to apply an idea like that to whiff punishing.)
I've heard this theory before. Okiwaza, Atewaza, and Sashikaeshi right?
That's it!
how does your version of the game look so awsome?
I wonder how many times you tried, before the dash block actually worked...
Great guide but i'll still spam otgf and electrics and die because of either whiff punishing or because of missed inputs.
cuz sparks go weeeee
What the fuck is this quality man, holy shit
Bandai Namco still sleeping on this smh

commenting for the algorithm

Woah there Arya, don't go calling Tekken slower than other games now, TMM may get mad.
Okay but what beats dn?

I've been mislead this while I've been playing a rock paper scissors game. >
That blasted salami how dair he make content this delicious 😁😁

It's a Guilty Gear game, but I'm not sure if it's Strive or not.
And the wavedash ws cancel 🥺 if not I’ll continue hellsweeping everyone to TGO😁
Tekken tips could be a whole other intro...
as much as I want to like VF Tekken>>>>VF
Shout out to Soul Calibur's Hayate for explaining all of these concepts earlier, better and with a French accent. Soul Calibur didn't get a mention, but weapon fighters mean that attack ranges vary wildly and make for more distinctive neutrals
If you don't sansukumi you can't Tekken
2nd comment
japanese say okizawa instead of keep out
1st comment
I can read the Japanese!!!!!!
Lol, I came to say this 😂😂😂
jesus christ fighting games are hard lol
Except for smash because it's not really a fighting game anyway.
