- Monsters Vs. Aliens Reaction is today's video!
Hey everyone! Join me as I watch Monsters Vs. Aliens for the first time today! This movie was even better than I expected it to be with all the comedy to keep it going.
When a meteor full of space gunk transforms Susan Murphy (Reese Witherspoon) into a giant, the government renames her Ginormica and confines her to a secret compound with other monsters, like bug-headed Dr. Cockroach (Hugh Laurie). When an extraterrestrial robot lands on Earth and begins a rampage, Gen. W.R. Monger persuades the president to send Ginormica and her fellow monsters to battle the machine and save the planet.

I'm glad Susan became friends with the Monsters. They are not selfish jerks compare to Derek, they care about her safety and happyness. The creatures are also funny and likable, worked as a team to rescue her near the end. I love thoses characters :D Dr Cockroach is my favorite, Link and BOB are great too!
Bob breaking up with Derek was the highlight for me. I don’t know why, but I guess it’s kinda the absurdist humor. This monster doesn’t have any relationship whatsoever with this human, and yet he’s still so invested in their fictional relationship.
He dosen't have any life outside of Area 51. That's why he mistakes himself for Susan
@@tizianoferrigno588 it’s not Area 51 it’s something else that is in the fifties and is a federal offence to mention
I never understand why people hate this movie so much. It's funny and entertaining.
this movie is the greatest
I think maybe there not a lot of female reveiwer.
Maybe some viewers don't get the references behind each monster, and consequently their introduction seems jarring. I've seen so many B-movies that I immediately recognized the callback to the "giant syringe" kill in _The Amazing Colossal Man_ and remembered that alien radiation was indeed the culprit in _Attack of the 50 Foot Woman,_ but sadly a lot of people have never seen the original _The Fly_ or _Creature From the Black Lagoon_ or _Mothra,_ let alone those movies.
I saw it recently and the only complaint I really have is the character models for most of the human cast aside from Susan. Otherwise, I thought it was a really fun movie.
It's a guilty pleasure
This movie was honestly a nostalgic fest for me, I remember watching this movie when I was younger man Time sure flew
I read that as “nostalgic feast” but honestly that could work as an analogy too, but same, It’s a childhood/teenhood favorite of mine too!
This is a pure childhood favorite I love coming back to because of the cast. Seth Rogen as Bob, Reese Witherspoon as Susan, Will Arnett as Link, Hugh Laurie as Cockroach, Rainn Wilson as Gallaxhar, and Paul Rud as Derek. I’ve seen these actors in so many hilarious comedies but also hearing their voices in so many animated films from my childhood makes me feel so much happier when I go back to watch them. ♥️♥️🥰
Seth Rogan’s laugh is so iconic. You could pick it out of a crowd of thousands
I can’t wait to hear Donkey Kong laughing like that in the new Mario film lol.
@@nicolasbaron4506He did the laugh
I love monsters versus aliens, especially the scene where the president is trying to make contact with the alien robot and start playing three notes, It is a reference to a black-and-white movie called close encounters of the third kind were they did the same thing in musical notes trying to communicate with an alien. Then the president goes into playing the song from Beverly Hills cops. This is a hilarious movie and see that you are enjoying it and I’m glad!!!
"Close Encounters of the Third Kind" is not a black-and-white movie, it's from 1977. But yeah, no reactor I've seen so far recognized that
It’s called Axel F
This movie gets a lot of crap but I cant help but love it. It's incredibly nostalgic to me, can't count the times I've seen it :D
yeah same.
I forced my parents to watch this movie at least 100 times when i was a kid XD
It's got a lot of fun moments
Welcome to the club
Since when did it get a lot of crap?
The reason I like this movie is because I LOVED watching cheesy B-movies as a kid, especially ones like Godzilla, the Blob, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, etc, so the film was like a nostalgia trip.
Do not apply logic or sense to this movie, it’s meant to be nonsensical and stupid, but because it’s meant to be entertaining as well, the humor makes up for it. It’s such an underrated film, I think a lot of people take it more seriously than they should. It’s just good for laughs. 😄
I just love it when dr cockroach laughs and that moment where B.O.B steals hotdogs but just gets stomped on LOL
Blobs obsession with Derek kills me every time 😭
Bob
6:35, that’s a reference to Franz Kafka. After Gregor transforms into a cockroach (well, an insect it’s not exactly clear what kind) (it makes considerably less sense in context) he starts eating garbage since human food no longer tastes good to him, since he has the taste receptors of an insect
This film wasn't the best but I honestly think it deserved a sequel
They did do a show for it though.
@@GracemarieJohnson2763 ya but nobody remembers that and they couldn't even get the original voices back
@@bengilhooly3616 I remember it and I don't care if those aren't the original verses
I give my word that I watched this movie with my sister two days ago! We went back to our childhood days. My sister walks into the room with the popcorn and asks:
"What are we watching?"
"Movie. DreamWorks Animation."
She sits, watching, thinking.
"Shrek? How to Train Your Dragon? Shark Tale? Madagascar?"
"No, no and no again. You know that movie, we had it on DVD."
When she saw Susan in bed with the bridesmaids waking her up, it dawned on her.
"Oh, my God! Yes! It's Monsters vs. Aliens! How long it's been since we've watched that. There's that blue jelly and the big furry monster."
This movie is great! It entertains and amazes me as much as it did when I was a kid 😂❤
Glad you got to see this at last. This movie makes me laugh a lot. The whole dress up like Gallaxhar thing and nobody knows who they really are reminds me of the whole “when Clack Kent has his glasses on, nobody knows he’s really Superman” scenario. Also, if you haven’t already, you should check out the short “B.O.B.’s Big Break” which is a prequel to the movie. THAT made me laugh for hours!
"Guys, who are we kidding? we can save every city on the planet and they still treat us the same way they always treated us, like Monsters"
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
This line is as sad as Shrek when he talks about how humans judge him without knowing him. She is so tragic ;(
I'm pretty every single one of the X-Men could relate to that issue, no relation to this movie obviously but still, I feel like it would have come up in conversation at some point. 😊
This film was inspired by a lot of classic monster movies. Attack of the 50 ft woman, The blob, the fly, Mothra, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the Amazing Colossal man, Earth versus the flying saucers, etc.
You forgot Creature from the Black Lagoon.
I LOVE BOB SOOO MUCH!!!! He is amazing and funny as hell. 😂😂 Especially when he thinks he is with Derek. Just a movie suggestion, I think Journey to the center of the earth you will really enjoy.
I love DreamWorks' Monsters VS Aliens. My favorite character is B.O.B., because he is so funny, oh, and he has no brain. LOL
I remember always enjoying this movie a lot when I was younger. Just the concept of the monsters all being friends together seemed like such a great idea to me.
I honestly love how BOB made Seth Rogan's signature laugh iconic, more so iconic to bob himself
also when you realize...bob was gonna survive the detonation, it kinda makes the cake and balloons just seem pretty sad
3:35
Literally right after saying that Paul Rudd might be a vampire, you say you'll marry him... he's Paul Rudd, so I respect that lolol
It's like Hotel Transylvania but gay style
"What idiot designed this thing?"
"You did sir"
"...Fair enough, Wilson, fire somebody"
And by away, this is my first 3D movie that I ever I saw in IMAX Theater with my mom when I was 14 years old back in 2009. True story.
Which IMAX? The one in London Waterloo or leicester square?
@@m.c.ufan1019 No, Crossgates Mall of Albany NY.
Must have been fun
@@tresheppard8942 Ah
@@m.c.ufan1019 there’s a lot of IMAXs
I have enjoyed this movie so much it was my childhood, I loved playing the video game, and I loved the cast so much.
This movie is one of the best movies for childhood, I love it
Some coincidence that Reese Witherspoon was the giant first in this movie and then Paul Rudd was the giant next in The Marvel cinematic Multiverse as Ant man. 😂😂😂😂😎😎😎😎
i flipping adored this movie, i was obsessed with it!
14:56, he can’t. He’s an indestructible gelatinous mass.
4:11 Oh look, an actual bridezilla.
I was a fan of this movie when it came out in 2009 I was 2 years old at that time and i am still a fan till this very day
Jokes for the cartoon were written by people involved in the first full-length feature of SpongeBob, Kung Fu Panda and The Simpsons.
The Mrs. Ronson scream never gets old
I loved this movie so much as a kid, I dragged my parents to theaters THREE TIMES to watch it. It’s so dumb, but it’s THE BEST kind of dumb
this movie and its spinoffs are very underrated!
Don't forget the TV show who cares what that animation is bad it's still funny and good
@@dinoboy6388 that show deserved more seasons!
This is my favorite DreamWorks film.
I remember watching this about 6 years ago.
I always loved Bob, glad to see you love Bob as well💪🏾😂
Great reaction! I recommend the movies “planet 51” and “escape from planet earth” they are both very nostalgic for me and I think you would really enjoy them!😁
Escape from Planet Earth? REALLY?!😒
@@lexramstudios1386 CHILDHOOD
@@lexramstudios1386 I haven’t watched it in years though so I can’t remember if it’s really as good as I seem to remember
@@lexramstudios1386 Ah yes! This movie where Google and phones were created by aliens, a lame villain and boring music. All i remember is Patrick waburton as the brother of the main character. He was the only funny guy in the entire movie.
12:42 That caught me off guard too buddy, it was hysterically funny!
I probably watched this movie twice a day for weeks when it was released and somehow I'm still not tired of it years later
09:43 Haha you rock Cody!
“There’s not a doubt in my mind that the president that we will ever have will Not act like that.”
😐….Weelll
30:01
Missing Link has been voiced by Will Arnett.
4:14, she absorbed the energy of the Quantonium
3:34 Got me dead lol Cody your so funny dude
In my opinion the most unfortunate cartoon parody from Dreamworks, in the sense that I like references to the Fly, Kronos, Frankenstein, Godzilla, 50-feet Woman, Gilman and the horror films of the golden era of Hollywood, but this is not perceived as a parody. It is a pity that after Megamind we will not see such parodies from Dreamworks ((((
I just figure it out.
Susan: Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (1958)
B.O.B.: The Blob (1958)
The Missing Link: Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)
Dr. Cockroach: The Fly (1958)
Insectosaurus: Mothra (1961)
WOULD SOMEBODY GOT HER OUT OF HERE!!
(Security tossing out the woman)
Thank you 😮💨
Bob may not have a brain, but his heart is the size of the prison common room.
The piano tune is from First Encounters of the Third Kind a film you should see if you have not yet.
15:08, it scanned her and found the quantonium
He knows a lot of voice actors like he knows Seth Rogen before he heard Bob talking like Seth rogen.
"Gargoyles: the Awakening" - 90s animated movie with a really cool plot!
It's not the income problem, it's the fact that Derek only ever thinks about himself and how useful Susan can be to him. It wasn't about the income, it was about the fact that she would get more attention than him, and he'd have to up his work in being a supportive partner. He takes and never gives back but acts like he gives a lot. He's a self-centred spotlight hogger.
14:18 Yes it has, Link. It's crazy how this movie predicted the present.
That moment when you realize that Monsters vs Aliens was basically DreamWorks' version of a family friendly Suicide Squad 🤔😂
11:43 actually no, Monger just got HIS rear end scanned
I'm done! 😂😂😂 "All those in favor of Seth Rogen being with Paul Rudd, please say aye! Not opposed." You cracked me up with that one, Cody. I would pay big money to see Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd together for two and a half hours in a movie, whether it's a comedy show, a movie, or even something Marvel related, though the latter might be a long shot. This movie is underrated but nonetheless is one of the most funny and crazy awesome comedies to be written, and it doesn't hurt that it has a stellar cast behind it: Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Rainn Wilson, and so many more.
The only DreamWorks movies left to react:
Antz (1998)
The Road to El Dorado (2000)
Chicken Run (2000)
Sinbad: Legends of the Seven Seas (2003)
Shark Tale (2004)

Oh, God! I haven't seen that movie in a long time! 😅
I wish Monsters vs. Aliens 2 was released on theaters, real-d, and IMAX in 3D June 16, 2015, and was released on DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital December 18, 2015
28:02 Derek will never get over Susan😂😂
4:13 she OUTGREW him!
I was actually born with platinum blonde hair. And I think Susan is the type of dreamworks protagonist we love.❤️ Absolutely Girl Boss. I was kinda disappointed the Susan and Derek didn’t end up together but now I’m Glad. BTW this movie came out the year me and my sister were born.
I’m glad this film mentioned Fresno, because I lived in Fresno currently.
17:44 At least Insecto is having a good time
6:55
IT'S THE BEST CHARACTER!
One thing I don’t understand is why Susan’s hair changed from brown to white
« Guess the weeding off , I’ll Marry Paul » lmaooo
Take a sip every time you hear "Oh my God" and you'll pass out before the end of the video.
Awesome movie tho!
10:22
I was waiting for you to say that 😂
"I guess the wedding is off. I'll marry Paul Rudd, let's do it" A MOOD CUZ DAMN PAUL RUDD
I'm going to be honest out of all the movie reaction channel's I've watched Cody's is easily the best one
I listened to the director's commentary, and I find it hilarious how much Paul Rudd hated his own character.
This movie was always one of my favorites
This is my favorite movie since 2009
charlie and the choclate factory movie
I recently learned that Susan was based off of a 50 year old movie: attack of the 50 foot Woman
9:41 is the axel f song and at 24:40 the song is by aqua roses are red and violets are blue
That Gallaxhar destroyed his home planet
Bob is my favourite character
i really think that they should have made eric look like an adult chad
one whose rich with a picky beard and blonde perfect hair who doesnt like her but only marrys her cuz she is pretty
To quote CinemaSins, any guy who can't find a way to make it work with a woman that tall is not worth it.
One of my least favourite Dreamwork’s movies has two of my favourite things in Dreamwork’s.
1 The Government Meeting Scene (It’s comedy gold, me and my brother quote it all the time).
2 The President (he deserves his own movie).
The voice of Link is Will arnett. He voiced Lego batman.
I suggest watching lilo and stitch 2, Wolf walkers, and chicken run
You the second person 🥈to ever reaction to Monster 👹 vs Aliens 👽 for the first time🤯 but right after TimotheeReacts reaction to first.

8:43 lmao!!!
This Was A Childhood Favorite
Ikr 'Oh my indeed I'm scared 😱
Everytime I hear my name in this I get super excited lol
Totally Cody’s laugh is actually pretty funny
I mean, that's the point of marriage, for better or for worse. If you can't stand by them even if that means things getting hard, then maybe it's best not to get married to them. Derek chose his career over Susan's well being again and again, and view that as you will, but he was not ready to make that kind of commitment to Susan. (Not saying you have to give up your career in marriage, but in marriage, your relationship comes first, and you work on supporting eachother in everything else, perhaps it's not for everyone.)
1:35 ayy, Star Trek reference!
