Fun fact: the writers for the sonic movie actually said they weren’t inspired by Quicksilver for sonics fast runny speed, they were actually inspired by hammy’s scene😂

I get the feeling that this movie doesn’t get talked about very much, mainly because other Dreamworks titles overshadow it. As for me, Over the Hedge is very fun, I like it.

Fun Fact: this movie is what started the phenomenon of naming something Steve to make it less scary.
As a kid I didn't understand the concept of voice actors, so now as an adult who STILL loves this movie, I'm wondering if Hammy wanted to call the hedge Steve because he's voiced by Steve Carell?

Two things I like to say about Over the Hedge:
1. Over the Hedge should've became a franchise a long time ago
2. There's this theory I found out months ago about Heather the Opossum having a secret crush on RJ and rewatching this I can actually see it
I loved this movie as a kid with ADHD i always loved Hammy. I also felt mad depressed watching it on a sunday night before school because i felt guilty for R.J and how he had a deadline to meet for the bear and it reminded me of not doing homework LOL. I also especially love the subtle mockery of american gluttony and environmental damage. Watching it as a kid from a developing country, my friends laughed a lot at the big SUVs and backyards with clean water etc.
Over The Hedge is severely underrated. I LOVE this movie! The cast is great, the animation is great, the story is great, the comedy is great! I still want a sequel however since Garry Shandling passed away, might be hard. I guess they could replace him with someone who can still do the character justice and work as a way to honor Garry as long as the rest of the cast returns.
This is seriously one of the best DreamWorks movies of all time! I wore out the DVD, I watched it so much.
Btw, Stella’s voice actress is also Granny Sloth from the last two Ice Age movies
I love Over the Hedge so much and always have a good laugh whenever I watch this. Hammy's such a funny character and love how RJ goes from lying to them to coming to save them and be part of the family.

This movie I believe carries a very strong message, no matter who you are, never feel inclined to judge yourself based on your personality.
Which means: Don't judge a book by its cover, or in this case, a raccoon by his nature.❤️
Absolutely loved this movie ever since it came out, and I still love it. So glad it finally got a Blu Ray release after, like, 15 years of waiting. I think Hammy's "was that out loud" is my favorite moment, and I reference it all the time. Definitely the best character in the movie, and it was heart-wrenching seeing him upset. Fun fact: The dog was initially going to be vicious and actually attack RJ and Verne, but they deemed it too scary and changed it to a playful demeanor instead. I think that was the best decision they made, aside from actually creating the movie. XD
Exactly for a children's movie that would be really bad to see the main character and vern get attacked and really hurt by the dog so I'm glad they changed it to that

Neat little detail: the "Sonic stops time" scene in the first sonic the hedgehog was based off the one in here!
I forgot how many big names were in this, and man it's easy to hear them having fun along with the animators! Like other classics it's got some great family values that's been long forgotten now days, a shame they don't really do that anymore. Also the focus on food was so uncomfortably accurate but oh so amusing.
Hey Cody in over the hedge I like the part when Ozzie the possum fakes his death in front of the group of kids and Gladys, he calls the famous last words "ROSEBUD" which is a reference to the 1941 black and white classic movie CITIZEN KANE.
Great reaction Cody! This movie is part of my childhood! Hammy almost has the same speed as Chuck from Angry Birds and Sonic. He's my favorite.👍
This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid, still have the DVD to this day though I don't know if it still works since I haven't put it in a DVD player in a long time.

Vincent is one of those animated villains that has me curious about. Like why does he believe that being all alone is better than having a family?? And the fact that he finds it amusing that RJ betrayed the other animals and doesn't give a care that these poor animals were about to be taken away to get killed, like geez, that bear is evil 😬
Although I do wonder if vincent was possibly abandoned by his family and that's why he is the way he is 🤔

I compare the relationship between RJ and Verne to that of Woody and Buzz from Toy Story
Same here. Glad I’m not the only one who always thought this movie was a lot like Toy Story & the Main Characters of RJ & Verne are so much like both Woody & Buzz which is funny but really interesting though at the same time. I do love both RJ & Verne’s Relationship though when they had to work on their differences between each other after Verne tried to return the food back to the Humans RJ tried to stoop him from even doing

Wow this brought back so many memories. Hammy is iconic. If you haven’t seen Open Season I suggest it. Idk if it holds up but it was the same vibe of animal vs the humans, while being very funny, and also touching.
Another thing: Possums can't actually play dead. They literally become so scared, they pass out.

Perhaps not the most beloved Dreamworks cartoon (in contrast to their other works), I was imbued with the character of RJ and his inner theme as a child. And overall, humor aside, the film is still good.
Horribly underrated.
I just wanna nitpick that Dreamworks is a sequel machine (Shrek, Madgascar, How to train your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda)
And yet we got ONE Over the Hedge, Rise of the Guardians, & Megamind

Garry Shandling played the Hydra affiliated senator Stern in some marvel films he was the one that told Tony Stark F..k you when he refused to give his armour to the American government.
Yay! I wouldn't of thought you've never seen this !!! Ben Folds does the scoring for this and Hoodwinked, two very under-rated movies that are actually gems 💖

I saw that movie a long time ago and it was very funny. The animals are so funny in this film and Vincent is an amazing villain along with Gladys Sharp and Dwayne LaFontant. I hope there is a second film about RJ and the others going on vacation to Louisiana to meet new animals. Vincent will come back in the second film with new animals friends army and the hunters will be the villains.

I had the video game for the GameCube of this movie and honestly, it was the best movie adapted game I’ve ever played, mostly because the first two levels were the end of the movie and the rest was all original content, as well as actually fun mini games

This movie moulded my music taste too for rock at a young age bc of the songs so , yeah i adore this film.
Oh this movie really captures comedy so well. Loved your reaction and so happy you feel in love with Hammy. He will always be one of my favorite characters. Between the eyes and the voice and his love for cookies it is hard not to love him. Add in all the other big name actors and the fact they got Avril Lavigne a key part of my childhood it makes it one of my favorite Dreamworks films.
Another thing I never realized it till as an adult but that crazy lady was my first animated Karen. If you listen to her she pretty much quoting the Karen handbook
I just watched this movie because of Heather voiced by Avril.
It may not have been obvious, but Stella and Tiger actually slept together...yes. Like that. You can tell by the fact some of the charcoal makeup went away and Tiger's dreamy expression.
